Christian-Newsom, Lemaricus Davidson Sentenced on 20 Lesser Charges

06/11/2010

Lemaricus Davidson is already on death row for murder.  He returned to Judge Richard Baumgartner’s courtroom today to learn his fate on the twenty lesser charges that include kidnap, rape and theft.

In probably one of the most stunning sentences ever handed down, Judge Richard Baumgertner said, “Mr. Davidson in my judgement engaged in one of the most horrendous crimes that has been committed in this county.”

In an apparently unprecedented move in Tennessee, the judge has sentenced Lemaricus Davidson to 2 consecutive death penalties.

That’s right folks two CONSECUTIVE DEATH PENALTIES!!!!

Of the 20 lesser charges, Baumgartner sentenced Davidson to:

40 years on the Class A felonies

20 years on the Class B felonies

10 years on the Class C felony, to be served at the same time.

Because Judge Baumgartner declared Davidson is classified as a Range II defendant, he was able to sentence to between 25 and 40 years on the Class A felonies.

I am absolutely in awe of the Judge and thankful for the Christian and Newsom families – may they sleep well tonight!

And, to think Nessa is next!!!

Good for Judge Baumgertner! I need to go read what the families are saying.

donchais, I do believe you are right, ‘Nessa is next. If I were her, I’d be shaking in my shoes about now!

Considering ‘Nessa got off easy with the jury, Baumgartner will probably throw the biggest book he can at her.

I was in the courtroom today. I was again able to speak briefly with Hugh Newsom. The victim impact statements were the most powerful I have ever heard. Gary Christian said that he would spend his life doing everything he could to make Davidson’s execution come as soon as possible and would make sure he lived long enough to see Davidson get a needle stuck in his arm.
