Drew Peterson – Where is Stacy?

On June 5, there was major media activity on the search for Stacy Peterson’s remains.

Stacy Peterson of Bolingbrook, Illinois is the 23-year-old wife of Drew Peterson, the mom of two small children and has been missing since Sunday, Oct. 28, 2007.

Based on a supposed tip by an inmate (several media sources reported that police denied the tip came from an inmate, rather from a ‘credible’ source), Drew Peterson allegedly told how he killed Stacy and where she was buried.  The story was that her body was stuffed in a metal drum and buried on private property outside of Peoria, Illinois.

Someone obviously gave credence to the story as police sealed off the area, brought sniffer dogs in that hit on a site, and anthropologist Alan Harn was brought in to assist with the search.

Police excavated at least three sites, on the property, yet no human remains were found.

Then things went strangely quiet, the search was suddenly halted.  Why?

Granted the weather – inundating rains – played a big role in delaying the search.  The always-churning rumor mill hinted this was just an attempt to possibly delay the upcoming July murder trial. Drew Peterson is charged with murder in the 2004 death of his third wife, Kathleen Savio.

The 2007 disappearance of Stacy brought renewed interest in the death of Kathleen.  Kathleen’s lifeless body was found in the bathtub at the Peterson home; the bathtub was totally dry, yet the death was ruled an accidental drowning.  Kathleen’s body was exhumed and an autopsy indicated foul play in her death.

Yesterday, Peoria County Sheriff Mike McCoy said his department is awaiting word from the lead investigators.

“The Will County State’s Attorney’s Office and Illinois State Police District 3 said that when they return, they would contact us before they came,” he said. “At this time, we’re protecting the site, waiting to assist them when they return.”

Kathleen and Stacy have been waiting a long time for justice and I guess we can keep vigil and wait with them!
