Joran van der Sloot – “I Was Tricked”

06/21/2010

“I was very scared and confused during the interrogations and wanted to get away.” In my blind panic, I signed everything, but didn’t even know what it said.”

If any of you believe this, press your ‘True’ buzzer now!  And with that statement/lie, Joran van der Sloot has retracted his confession to the killing of Stephany Flores.

Dutch newspaper, De Telegraaf reports that van der Sloot claims he only signed papers because he was intimidated by police.  He also claims he was promised they would transfer him to the Netherlands if he confessed.

“I was tricked,” the paper quoted Van der Sloot as saying of Flores’ killing. “I’ll explain later how it all happened.”

Anita van der Sloot was also interviewed by De Telegraaf and says she has no intention to visit her son in jail and that Joran suffers from mental problems.  She said the problems began with the intense pressure he was under during the Natalee Holloway disappearance.

Anita also told De Telegraaf that her son was known to tell lies.

“He lied so much, that we became desperate,” she is quoted as saying. “He said to me too, ‘Mom, I sometimes don’t know any more if something is a lie or the truth.’ Joran is sick in his head, but he didn’t want any help.”

This is the same behavior we have come to expect from van der Sloot over the past 5 years – confessing and retracting his stories of what happened to Natalee.

And, mommy and daddy van der Sloot were the enablers!

I don’t think it will help him this time. They have a lot of evidence.

I can see where he may think it worked for him before so why not try it again. Very sad.

Well, if that confession had a pack of lies in it, it wouldn’t help him anyway. On the other hand, had he made a true confession, it could have lessened his term if found guilty.

Peruvian law uses a true confession as a sort of mitigator. Joran blew that big time.

Trying him on the evidence alone will be the best bet anyway. It’s pretty darn strong!

Ruh Row….Is there an insanity defense in Peru? I doubt his mother is making any statements without a motive behind them. One has to wonder, if her son truely had mental issues beyond personality disorders wouldn’t she want to see him? I do kind of understand trying to be supportive of your child publicly as long as excuses are kept to a minimum.

According to the ABC interview with Joran’s ex-girlfriend the issue with compulsive lying started way before the Natalie Holloway case. Perhaps that is the point they could no longer be ignored because he was actually being pinned down to what he said….remind ya of some girl from FL?

He’s all of the above for sure donchais.

I highly doubt the authorities in Peru promised him he’d be allowed to return to the Netherlands if he confessed! That boy sure lives in Fantasyland doesn’t he?

I don’t think he ever had any intention of ever telling the truth about where Natalee’s remains were when he extorted the money from her mother. All he thinks about is himself and how to get money.

    He’s such a lying putz!!!!!

If the Peruvian Police are anything like US Police, it doesn’t matter if they promised him plastic surgery, $500,000.00 and a house made of platinum, in the clouds. LE can use deception to gain a true confession. With a Dutch provided interpreter and a lawyer provided from the state (AKA public defender) – they had their bases covered. Stick a fork in that POS, he is done.

Even the local cops say once the trial is fini, there will be no way to protect his backside (literally) from the other inmates. Either a paid hit from the outside or just criminal type justice – he should have known better than to kill a local girl.
