taking depositions

I’ve pretty much gotten to the point of expecting all kinds of tomfoolery from these two, but I must say I’m always stunned at the lack of professionalism and the gross disdain they have for the judicial process, the folks connected to it and the public as well.

At the status hearing this week Baez – for the umpteenth time – complained about how much work they have and how the prosecution keeps adding witnesses and doesn’t turn over evidence in a timely manner, blah, blah, blah.  He indicated they might have a 50/50 shot at making the deadlines set by Judge Perry.

Linda Drane-Burdick addressed Baez’s complaints, one-by-one, in her usual methodical way, proving once again, that perhaps Mr. Baez let his imagination color his representation!

Jeff Ashton informed the court that he has yet to receive the list of defense experts and he would like to begin scheduling depositions to which Baez replied Mr. Mason told him to ‘take one bite at a time’ and he was concentrating on other things at the moment.  He also said they still had time to decide which experts they would be using.  He did, that very morning provide a new witness list and with a smile toward the Judge, announced proudly that he met that deadline!

Judge Perry repeatedly told all parties they will meet the deadlines!

So, all in all, a pretty typical and low-key status hearing.

But wait, don’t change the channel yet; behaving badly is becoming their forte!

In a truly tacky move, the new defense list includes a name that came as a shock!  David Evans, the attorney who represents Roy Kronk!

When questioned about the inclusion of Evans, Cheney Mason said, “I can put anyone on the list if we think they’re involved in potentially discoverable evidence.”

Now the kicker is, that can ultimately lead to Evans being disqualified as Kronk’s attorney!  Think Brad Conway!

Call me crazy, but I thought they were backing-off from throwing Kronk under the bus and were out looking for new road kill.  It is just unbelievable to me how underhanded and desperate this defense is.  They are shameless!

David Evans says he’s not going down without a fight!

On Friday, to further prove their arrogance and disrespect for all things civilized, the dynamic duo called 35 members of law enforcement for depositions.  Remember folks, we’ve known about these people for two years! To add insult to injury, they were all instructed to arrive at the exact same time! Now, the few times I’ve been deposed, I had a very specific appointment!

Citizens of Orange County should be majorly ticked off.  Not only were taxpayer dollars wasted on such a bonehead stunt, public safety was placed in jeopardy due to the fact dozens of law enforcement members sat around for hours twiddling their thumbs!

Some of the interviews lasted less than five minutes and Jose Baez told FOX 35 after getting through half of the witnesses that he doesn’t think anyone he questioned today will be called at trial. Why? He says not one of them played significant roll in the case.

Baez also said, “This was, hands down, the fastest and most efficient way of dealing with these issues and these witnesses.”

So, see how hard the defense is working and how much they are accomplishing?  The public and the State be damned!

It should be apparent to everyone neither Baez or Mason read Dale Carnegie’s, How to Win Friends and Influence People!

Yeah, I know, the knuckleheads just can’t help themselves!

One comment Baez made that freaked me out was that some witnesses “only” collected a piece of evidence and gave it to someone else. Pffffft! Like that’s a small deal? You have to know that the defense is going to be all over chain of custody! They already have one issue with an opened packet (I think…)

Since the defense has to nit-pick everything in this trial, every witness from LE has potential value.

If the defense had spent some of the past two years deposing these people instead of spending all their time and efforts is trying to prove that Roy Kronk is the duct-tape king, their money may have been spent more wisely.

We still have the Motion about prior bad acts of Roy and a ton of witnesses… if the judge decides Baez can’t use them in the trial, their witness list will take a major hit!

    Unbelievable.

They don’t care about spending wisely – it’s the taxpayer’s dime!

When did Baez get his iPad?

    Oh, that’s right… just don’t pay your $4000+/mo mortgage!

I wish Judge Perry could put his foot down concerning all the useless actions being taken by the duhfense; what a waste, a huge waste.

I want to know where the 345K went from Casey’s media fund and admission charge fund – Todd Malculso and Andrea Lyons, the misc 5K from an anonymous donor, and the 200K media sale. Why were no depos done on their dime? Why is this all happening now on our dime? I want to know with Perry as head of the JAC why we don’t have a full and accurate accounting. If he paid people wouldn’t that be discoverable income for the IRS?

Barb2 – I’m sure Judge Perry is as annoyed as we are with these childish antics!

CycloneIam – I don’t suspect there are any decent accounting records and I doubt we’ll ever know!

JB & CM are two desperate idiots!!!
My hubby was appalled when he saw on the news that defense had called 35 LE officers to be deposed at almost the same time on our taxpayer’s money!!! For two years all JB did was to sit on his huge behind and to go on National Media to twist the truth. What a huge waste!!!
Thick-skinned JB doesn’t pay his mortgage but can afford to get a new iPad, a trip to France, trip to GR’s birthday party. Oh la la!! A lawyer that can’t pay his bills. Way to go!!
Well, regarding Mr. Evans to be on the defense list all I can say is “desperation”. I just hope JP won’t allow them to do this.
We still have 8 months to go to and watch the “Chewbacca Defense” taking shape. Boy, will I get keep my sanity ’till then? I certainly hope so. LOL
