Casey Anthony Lawyers Continue To Dumb Down

Tweedle Baez and Tweedle Mason

I just don’t get it!

Seriously, you can’t make this crap up and I just don’t get it!

Jose Baez and Cheney Mason, the self-appointed poster boys for bad lawyering, have reached a new high low!

They have really been spiraling downward for a while.  The dynamic has shifted and my amusement has changed to annoyance and major loathing.

When Judge Perry sets a deadline and the two buffoons begin to scribble like mad with their Cross pens on their yellow legal pads, what the hell are the scribbling?

Is it a grocery list of stuff their wives told the not to forget on their way home?  Is it their Taco Bell lunch order?  Is it a game of Hangman and they haven’t figured out the letters for the blanks spell out Casey Anthony?

It sure as hell ain’t the date or time the Judge has set!

Let’s begin with last week when Tweedle Baez totally disregarded the court established deadline – which goes as far back to Judge Strickland’s time – for disclosing witnesses and filed a Supplemental Witness List to which the talented and competent, Linda Drane Burdick responded by asking Judge Perry to throw out the Supplemental List.

February 16, Tweedle Baez submitted his totally childish, nasty and rude ‘Motion To Strike The State’s Motion To Strike Defense Supplemental Witness List’ – yup, you read that right – all of which will be duked-out in Court on March 2.  You can read T&T ritanita’s excellent summary here.

So, move on to yesterday.  We found out through a motion filed by Jeff Ashton that Tweedle Baez blew-off the February 17 deadline for providing, in writing, “the specific issues that will be objected to in accordance with Frye, including but not limited to, those objections previously addressed in the motions.”

It seems Mr. Ashton, after receiving nothing from Tweedle Baez on the 17th, contacted him on the 18th about his non-compliance with the Court’s order.

Note: If you are not seated at the present time, I suggest before continuing, you find a chair immediately!

Tweedle Baez it seems, expressed “some confusion” so he emailed Judge Perry’s judicial assistant for clarification of Judge Perry’s order!

“We are a bit confused.” I understood it to mean that if we were objecting to anything not in our motion that it should be in writing. That was also my understanding as to what was discussed at the status hearing”

Good lord, a 4th grader could have completely understood the order!

The emphasis that follows is mine because I felt it imperative to highlight Tweedle Mason’s dumb or Tweedle Baez throwing Tweedle Mason under the proverbial bus!

“I have also discussed the matter with Mr. Mason and he is just as confused if not more.

Mr. Ashton, rightly so, is asking Tweedle Baez why he should not be held in contempt of court for failing to miss another court-ordered deadline!

Motion and Tweedle Baez’s email to Judge Perry’s assistant may be found here.

My word, did neither of them finish grade school?  Are they both drinking and drugging?  Or, as in my opinion, did they just lie to the good Judge again?

So, just what the heck is it they scribble on those legal pads?

Donchais, my mouth is still hanging open from reading the latest. I am fuming at this defense and the Tweedle Brothers act.

I’m pleased there are two days for hearings next week. That should allow enough time for the court to hear the latest two pieces of obscenely bad lawyering. In the “Motion to Strike the Motion to Strike” there is a feigning of total ignorance of the court orders. In the latest motion, authored by Mr. Jeff Ashton, Esq., the e-mail he attached is a classic “duh” excuse which holds no water (and very badly written).

At this point, it is my most humble opinion that Baez wants the judge to boot him from the case. I don’t think that will happen, though, as long as the Defendant wants him representing her.

Oh, I wish I were a fly on the jail wall when the two meet. Jose says, “fire me”! The Defendant says, “no!” He’s badly stuck to Casey and it hasn’t helped that he’s kept her totally isolated.

Tweedle Bozo has his pen ready….waving it over the legal pad in front of him…
but it never touches the paper. What’s with him?
Casey is given her pen and paper also…..she writes on it….most likely her new marriage name once she is freed from jail and on the road in her SUV

Masonjar sits back in his chair, with a smirk on his face, arms crossed and listens
(if his hearing aids are on….I think new batteries are needed) because he dosen’t get it either.

I wondering if perhaps Judge Perry needs purchase Rosetta Stone in Spanish…then
maybe Tweedle Bozo would understand better…..but then again, maybe not.

Ritanita…..I think Casey has Bozo tied up with Duct Tape…and won’t let him go.

He’s screaming ….. “Please release me, let me go”…LOL

Is a Mistrial looming on the horizon here?

LOL!!! You are right! When you think the buffoon is done there he goes again! But now he added buffoon number 2 to the equation. Oh boy!

You know what? You may be right that JB wants nothing else to do with this case! But why would he risk his career? What about CM? Have they gone mad? LOL

I am at loss of words!

Swift Justice, thank goodness there can’t be a mistrial before the trial even starts! I love the duct tape!

If I’m correct in my assumptions, there would be a BIG delay in the trial. If Baez goes, so does the rest of the team, I would think. They are pro-bono and it would be their chance for a hasty exit.

That would leave the Defendant with a public defender who would have to take the time to review all of the case and come up with a defense if they couldn’t get a plea from the State.

The only good news would be that Casey would spend a lot more time in jail before her trial.

If I’m not mistaken, the only way Baez can leave is if Casey fires him. A law was passed (well over a year ago) that prohibits an attorney from up and quitting a case this late in the game!

That said, I honestly wish Judge Perry would question Casey in court as to her being satisfied with her lawyers – Judge Strickland did this fairly often and I now fully understand why!

Just when I think the Tweedle Bros. have used up all their non-lawyering tactics, they manage to come up with something else. I hope there is a contempt charge looming on the horizon for these twits.

Why do I have to keep confirming my subscription everytime I post a comment? Talk about being (truly) confused!

i don’t think kaysay can fire him now, it’s too late she is stuck with him. but…hoesay can leave the case if he somehow ends up dead as a doorknob. then, imo, mason jar would have to take over the case since he is the official death qualified lawyer. but…when mason jar hears the news of hoesay croaking he follows suit then the case falls to ann finnell or dorothy clay sims or charles green.
i do not think kaysay can get a public defender since she had this bunch of lawyers before or during her going broke.

I have no idea! I will look into it or hopefully someone from wordpress can clear up the mystery! Hang in there!

It’s going to be an interesting two days of tap dancing around the legal language of understanding what “Is” is, regarding the meaning of a “deadline.”

Whether the lawyers are confused, rebellious, lazy, ignorant, or slimy, it all adds up to the fact that they can’t keep up! They can’t build a strategy on thin air.
    May spells their doomsday.

Casey could hardly do worse if she represented herself & we all know the saying about people who represent themselves in court. But she is probably not DP qualified.

Thanks donchais – entertaining and the truth as always.

I read a lot of these blogs but I don’t often post – however, I wanted to put this out there and I know that the same has been stated on other sites but I really do believe it to be true, even more with each of these incidents. Baez is clearly out classed, in way over his head and buried in debt because he long ago spent the blood money from the alley cat he represents – he wants out, either by being thrown off the case for incompetence or just outright insubordination. He can’t remove himself because of recent laws about private attorneys and indigent clients so this is his only option. Clearly he is not a bright man (more like 4 cents short of nickel) nor is he honest or moral but I fail to see how he is this stupid. To believe that his stupidity reaches this level one must believe that Forrest Gump is a genius.

Well, stupid is as stupid does…this case has proven it over and over again!

Thanks for your thoughts, snake oil salesman has been brought to a new level by the defense!

Bozo or Mason can’t possibly be this stupid or ignorant. So why are they pretending to be this stupid? The only thing I can think of is that they both want off the case and are trying to get thrown off — even if it ruins them!

I would love, love, love to know what Judge Perry thinks of the defense. It is clear to me that the problem arises from Baez and Mason’s lack of cooperation with the States’ Atorneys.

They were constantly mis-representing what had been said via phone and e-mail (think of the expert witness disaster).

The judge then changed to ordering everything be written and submitted to the court and the opposing side.

Now the defense can’t do that either.

Another thing: even IF they want off the case by whatever means possible, Judge Perry is well aware that Mr. Mason is technically the lead attorney and he knows his capabilities. He’s seeing right through Mason’s current act and won’t let them off the hook.

This will probably go to trial on time, although my opinion is always subject to change and the defense wobbles on…

At least the OJ trial had an almost believable lie going. These guys are dead in the water and don’t know what to do. She has ultra-medicinal knockout liquid on her hands. The fact that bozo doesnt visit kc is enough to mistrail I think. He used to be her protector with the sweet hugs under the umbrella. What happened bozo?
