Casey Anthony – Judge Recuses Himself

07/15/2011

Court began promptly at 8 am with Judge Jose Rodriguez taking the bench.  At issue is the Zenaida Gonzalez defamation case.

Morgan and Morgan filed a motion to take Casey Anthony’s deposition on July 19 and then requested it be taken before she is released on Sunday out of concern Casey would leave the jurisdiction of the court.

Charles Greene filed an immediate response saying he would be in court on another trial and also that Casey was mentally and emotionaly exhausted from the criminal trial and unprepared to give a deposition.

Judge Rodriguez said he wanted an Emergency Case Management Conference to work out this and other issues.

Charles Greene began by requesting a sidebar which was rather lengthy.  It culminated in Judge Rodriguez recusing himself and instructed the parties to file for reassignment.

Guess who reassigns???  Judge Belvin Perry!!!  Guess who may hear this case???  Judge Belvin Perry!!!

Stay tuned…

I hope Judge Perry does end up hearing this and I hope he makes her face the music. It’s about time she didn’t get her way. Too “emotionally exhausted” my hind foot! She didn’t look too exhausted after she was found not guilty and she’s had a while to rest up and plan her getaway.

I can see Judge Perry assigning this case to another judge. I can see Judge Perry recusing himself because he “has had more than enough of Casey Anthony”.

Yeah, but he wouldn’t be dealing with Baez and Mason!

This is like the “Never-Ending Story,” but not a fantasy and not fun…

    Morning donchais!

Well, nothing surprises me anymore! I guess scum bag lawyers prevail! So, I guess JB is not going to be “sanctioned”… now that would make me very upset. I am starting to think that “ethics” don’t apply to lawyers in FL!

Anyway, do you really believe HHJP will be reassigned? That would be great, still love HHJP, it was not his fault KC was acquitted, well I still think he rushed the “jury selection” but I don’t think the result would be any different. I guess that “common sense” in Pinellas county is out of fashion.

Talk about not getting justice for Caylee!

    *Sigh*

    Hi ya FRG!

Judge Perry can assign any of his Judges to the case. Perry and Strickland have the most knowledge of the case. Strickland is doubtful as he already recused himself early on, so Perry, himself, seems the most logical, but what do I know, lol?

    Hi donchais,
I’ve been a frequent visitor here for quite some time so I thought it was about time I leave a comment. I have been disgusted with the antics of Baez and Mason and now it looks like her new defense team will be no better. Did they force the judge to recuse himself as a stall tactic? Now they are appealing the misdemeanor counts she was found guilty of. Are you kidding me? Unreal.

It really is! But – there is a whole lot of fantasy here!

    Hi Nancy,

No reason why Rodriguez recused himself, so don’t know if the defense caused it. The appeal on misdemeanors would allow her to take the fifth at deposition.

    New Judge assigned already!

“The hearing has been reassigned to be heard by Judge Munyon today at 3:30 pm. We will be requesting to take #CaseyAnthony depo in jail tom. – MattMorganESQ”

How in the hell do you appeal something as obvious and flagrant as her lies were? How much longer are we going to be played by her stinking attorneys and her “highness”.?

Hopefully Judge Munyon is like Judge Judy. She must be a tough cookie if they think she can handle these bozos. This will be a very interesting hearing.

She’s been on the bench since 2003 and has pretty good reputation!

Perry legally can’t sit in on the case. He was the trail Judge in the last case.

Which is why Munyon was sent in as relief so quickly! Thanks!
