Thomas Mortimer Murder Trial Delayed

Thomas Mortimer IV

The evidentiary hearing scheduled for yesterday has been postponed until September 23.  The postponement means the murder trial scheduled to begin September 13, will also be delayed.  Woburn Superior Court did not set a new trial date.

Mortimer is alleged to have slaughtered his family after an argument with his wife.  He faces 4 first-degree murder charges in the deaths of his wife, Laura and her mother Ragna Stone.  2-year-old Charlotte and 4-year-old Thomas, ‘Finn’, were also killed in the Winchester home.

I am not sure why, in light of a confessional note left at the scene, there is a need for a trial at all. He admits to doing it, the family has been slaughtered, what will a trial do?

Nothing will bring back my dear family, and although the trial will reopen our wounds, it is the technical process required to ensure he spends the rest of his worthless life wallowing in his own self made hell behind bars. Ridiculous that our tax money be spent to convict a scumbag whom already confessed..that should allow the process to be skipped. On the other hand, we who remain in the wake if these losses have so many unaswered questions that perhaps a trial will shed light on. Just get it over with already so we can begin to move onto a healing process that won’t be entirely possible until this is out of the media

My greatest hope is you get the answers you need to begin the healing process. Thoughts and prayers are with you.
