Christian-Newsom Murders – Inmate Running The Asylum???

Good lord, the insanity doesn’t stop!  Special Judge Blackwood has just thumbed his nose at the families of Channon and Chris, the taxpayers, the State prosecutors, the State Supreme Court, and the public at large!!!

An absolutely insane (and pretty illegal, no doubt) motion filed late Friday by Blackwood indicates he intends to move forward with new trials for Lemaricus Davidson, Letalvis Cobbins, and George Thomas.  Not only was this done LATE Friday, but there was no hearing held so the state couldn’t make an argument, and Blackwood totally disregarded the state Supreme Court finding fault with his thinking!

Assistant District Attorney General Leland Price is obviously furious and accuses Blackwood of judicial misconduct and is calling for Blackwood to recuse himself.

“The willful failure of this court to follow the Tennessee Supreme Court’s guidance indicates this court has lost all semblance of fairness and impartiality,” Price wrote. “The court’s clearly stated and predetermined position is that new trials will be granted regardless of any law, evidence or argument to the contrary.”

The Supreme Court said the defense had to show proof of structural error in the trials – they have not!  Blackwood was instructed to address whether witness credibility was crucial to the state’s case – he has not!

Just what the hell is Blackwood playing at???  According to Leland Price, an email from Blackwood included in the file shows the special judge removed from the public file motions Price had filed on the issue.  “No public reference should be made to them,” Blackwood wrote.

Price also attacked Blackwood’s apparent “continued use and reliance on ex parte communications.”  Price pointed to an email by Blackwood where he states he heard rumors of one of the defendants not being ready for trial.

Another email reveals Blackwood goes on about “little birdies” who “put thoughts in my head” and questioned one of his legal moves.

Price’s motion, quite rightly, states,  “It is difficult for any reasonable person to believe the state is receiving a fair hearing before an impartial judge when the judge is listening to ‘little birdies’ and ‘rumors’ at the same time.”

It’s my opinion that Blackwood is no more fit to serve as a judge than Baumgartner.

Ya just can’t make this stuff up!

We’ll have to see how this shakes out in the next few days. It makes you wonder if Blackwood wants the attention presiding over four high profile trials would bring. He was going to have one trial anyway, Vanessa Coleman.

I’m aghast and have no clue as to Blackwood’s motivation, but he sure has made a damn fool of himself and nationally to boot!

I cannot fathom the rationale behind Blackwood’s motion other than dementia or insanity! Being a conspiracy theorist…there may be something far more sinister going on here and the victims and their families certainly don’t deserve this, nor does the state or the public at large.
