Jodi Arias Murder Trail – Special Edition

02/24/2013

Hope this clears up some confusion.

Hearing on Aug 8, 2011 determined the ‘supposed’ letters from Travis admitting to pedophilia were forged.

Nurmi has since claimed the forged letters should be allowed as the pros hand writing expert couldn’t say with 100% accuracy they weren’t written by Travis.

They were also tossed because they were photocopies…not originals and really no way to verify they were real.

(Same letters mama Arias recently tried to sell to the National Enquirer!)

Arias dated Matt McCartney from 2000 to 2001, but they remain friends.

Within a month before the Aug date, Juan Martinez interviewed Matt McCartney.  Jodi spoke by telephone with Matt about the upcoming interview.

August 4, 2011 Jodi tried to get someone to lie…Matt McCartney!  Jodi tried to pass 2 magazines to supporter, Ann Campbell (read, she’d pass them on to Matt McCartney).

The magazines contained a message to Matt written in the margins of the magazine.

The whole reason this came up even though the forged letters were tossed is because on direct, Nurmi opened the door wide and all Martinez had to do was walk through it.

Wow…Did the guards intercept these? Or did Ann Cambell hand them in? Really shows an agressive side to her with the language she uses…so manipulative! Thanks for the explanation, all these really help when watching the live trial. It helps to be able to follow it properly.

I was watching the trial on In Session when Martinez introduced the magazines with the code words. Afterwards, Vinnie Politano said the magazines were intercepted by a sheriff’s deputy who spotted the writings and never given to her friend. That’s how Martinez got them.

That’s why Martinez told Jodi to explain to the jury how the process works when you want to give “property” to a visitor. She explained she had to give the magazines to a guard who inspects it before giving it to her friend. This is a precaution to make sure the prisoner isn’t smuggling out secret messages to someone on the outside. The deputy looked through the magazines and saw the pencil hand writings and turned it over to Martinez.

Martinez was just introducing the magazines as evidence through Jodi. The entire story will come out in his rebuttal case and closing statement.

This attempt to tamper with a witness proves she is a calculated psycopath who will do anything to get what she wants. The words “Get Down here ASAP” shows she is an aggressor, not a submissive battered woman who just does what a man tells her to do.

Jodi getting on the stand has allowed Martinez to bring in the magazines to show her devious plotting and planning. This shows she has the deviousness to plan the murder of Travis Alexander by staging a burglary to steal a gun, disguising herself as a blonde, renting a car 90 miles from her home, borrowing gas cans so there is no record of her gas stops and sneaking into Travis’s house at 4 a.m.

Because Martinez asked her if she stopped in Monterey to see Matt McCartney and stayed over night and slept in the same room, she may have tried to get Matt to lie about what she said to him on her way to murder Travis. Matt McCartney may be testifying for the defense or he may be a rebuttal witness in the state’s case.

Now it makes sense why she visited two old lovers and a new lover on the same trip. She stopped at Daryl’s to get the gas cans, at Matt’s for a reason we willl find out and Ryan so she could say she took the trip to see Ryan in Utah, not to go to Arizona to kill Travis.

Why has JA not been charged with tapering w/evidence??? Also did anyone see the replay of her direct exam when she said she had been at Travis’ house putting stuff in the attic, left and came back for the angel and that is when she saw him masturbating. On cross she said she left work but couldn’t remember the time. Am I totally messed up on this or what?????

I don’t think her finger was broken, My guess would be she cut the tendon when her hand slid down the knife…but I wonder that she hasn’t had an xray so we can see if it’s really broken or if the tendon is whats pulling it out of place….

Jodi forged the letter in 2011 when she was in jail and had fired her attorneys and was acting as her own attorney. She had access to the prison law library and she pretended like she was taking notes from a law book when she was forging the letter. If Matt visited her, he would visit her through glass and he couldn’t get by the guards with a forged letter. When the judge wouldn’t allow the letter as evidence, she gave it to her mother to take to the National Enquirer but they wouldn’t publish it.

Her purpose in forging the letter was to poison the minds of potential jurors and the public against Travis. When the judge wouldn’t let the letter in she wrote a motion to blackmail the prosecutor into a plea deal of second degree murder and 12 years in prison saying she would bring up the pedophile claim in court and it would tarnish the memory of Travis Alexander and hurt his family and the community. When Martinez denied her motion, she asked to be appointed public defenders.

Jodi’s testimony indicates to me she studied crime shows as she plotted to kill Travis. Jodi testified that she tried to throw suspicion off her by calling Travis number after she killed him and leaving a message, pretending nothing was wrong with Ryan and other friends and attending the memorial service. She also said she called Flores saying she wanted to help on the pretense of finding out what evidence he had and if she was going to be arrested. She testified she didn’t tell Flores that Travis sexually and physically abused her because “that would provide motive.” She also said she made up the ninja story to “fit the forensics.” She also cleaned up and shut his bedroom door so that his body wasn’t found by his roommates for five days.

Only a clever killer trying to get away with murder would think and act like she did. A battered woman who just killed the love of her life who controlled her and told her what to do in self defense wouldn’t be able to think for herself or function. She would just call 911 in a daze and wouldn’t drive to Utah and makeout with a new boyfriend. Jodi said she didn’t call 911 because she was scared of being arrested and didn’t want to tell anyone “what I’d just done.”

She didn’t conjure up the self defense story until Nurmi told her in 2011 that her ninja story wouldn’t fly.

Hi guys. Re: Matt McCartney, he posted on the “Jodi Arias Is Innocent” website — if that was indeed him and he was adamant that he didn’t want to take part in this trial in any way. Many of the Jodi supporters were put off by this because they figured that if he was a true friend as he claimed to be, then he would stand by her side and help her out as much as he could. They took him to task for not helping her out BUT he said for reasons he can’t explain that he does not want to be involved — please keep in mind I’m paraphrasing here but I guarantee I remember that he said he didn’t want any part of it and he didn’t clarify why…up until that point I had no idea who this guy was, all I knew is that he mentioned that he dated her and that she was a great person and they are still friends. And it all seemed really strange to me until now. Now, it all makes perfect sense.

Unfortunately I don’t know which thread he was posting in and I think his I.D. was MM, I think. Boy I wish I could remember. I would go back on that site the just reading the stuff there makes me want to throw up in my mouth. Now that his name is being brought up on a regular basis I wonder if his posts are still there or if they are deleted.

I meant to say when Martinez refused to go along with the plea, the judge denied her motion. If she had any brains, she would know attorneys negotiate plea deals with the prosector not in motions.

  13. 02/24/2013 at 11:26 am

Okay, for anyone who is interested in reading what Matt McCartney has to say, I found the thread. They actually gave him a separate page. Apparently he told Jodi to keep him out of it so that he doesn’t have to put his family in jeopardy. He says he’s in the public eye and if people found out he was involved, his income would go down so it’s a choice between saving Jodi’s life or saving his family.

I’ll leave this for donchais’ discretion on whether or not she wants to publish the link to that dreadful website:

    http://jodiariasisinnocent.com/matt-mccartney-jodi-arias-is-innocent-jodi-arias-trial/

He says that he would make an excellent character witness for Jodi.

If you read his statements and how he corroborates the abuse Travis inflicted on her, I’m willing to bet she told him all this stuff the day before she headed off to Arizona, just before she murdered him.

The rope is probably made up, like most of her stuff. Travis’ hands were not tied in the shower photos. A surprise stab to the heart slowed him way down, but he did try to defend himself based on the autopsy photos. There was no rope. Jodi made up the story of Travis cutting the rope with a knife from his butcher block to explain where she got the knife. She claims she took the gun and the rope and threw them away and didn’t know what happened to the knife. Her story is contrived to prove she didn’t plan to kill him because she got the gun out of his closet and Travis got the knife out of his butcher block to cut the rope. The truth is she stole her grandfather’s gun aned brought the gun and a knife because she planned to murder him.

I just realized something, had an aha moment if u will. I think Martinez brought up the tootsie pop/pop rocks incident and whether or not she enjoyed it because he’s laying the foundation for questioning her later on her claim she didn’t know that Travis was dead. She’s very fuzzy on when she realized he was dead almost as if she’s indicating she sort of knew he was dead (why else would she throw away gun?) but it wasn’t confirmed for her till days later when she supposedly broke down crying, doubled over, etc. So just like she said she enjoyed/didn’t enjoy pop rocks, she’s saying pretty much she knew he was dead/ didn’t know he was dead. So my point is we all just need to trust Martinez. There’s a method to his madness!

I get so sick of reading and hearing journalists saying Jodi was calm and held up against the prosecutor. Of course she did. Psychopaths have no fear and no feelings. No matter what Martinez throws at her, it won’t phase her. She will smirk, laugh and smile thinking he is just being ridiculous like she did with Travis.

Travis texted her that he was sick of her lies and bullcrap, she was an evil sociopath, inconsiderate and rude, didn’t care about him but only about herself, she was wearing him out crying all the time and lying and told her to stop. She paid no attention to what he said. Her response was “whatever, no offense, hon, I love you, be happy.”

In late May, Travis told her it was over after she hacked into his Facebook and emailed women he was dating and told them to not date him. On May 28, she stages the burglary and steals the gun in Yreka, rents a light car that makes no noise, turns the license plate upside down and on June 3 she drives to Mesa and on June 4 stabs and shoots Travis to death when she knows all his roommates are at work.

  26. Essem
    02/24/2013 at 3:17 pm

The rope never existed it was the defence’s means to get the knife into the bathroom. She said they carefully measured out the rope by her holding the roll while Travis walked into the bathroom measuring the rope to the length to go around the sleigh bed and ended up cutting the rope with the knife in the bathroom. Doesn’t make logical sense. If you want to measure to fit around the sleigh bed you would lay it out across the bed and cut it not walk a distance into another room. And then she thinks to take the cut rope AND the remaining roll with her to dump? If it doesn’t make sense it didn’t happen!!!!

Martinez brought up the tootsie pop/ pop rocks incident for two reasons. He was impeaching her on the lie that she didn’t like it. And he was asking her if she was referring to the tootsie pop/ pop rocks incident when she wrote in her journal on Jan. 20, 2008 that she missed Lonnie’s baptism because she was having hot sex with Travis.

He was showing that she was lying when she said Jan. 20, 2008, she caught Travis masturbating to a picture of a boy in skivvies and when she confronted Travis about the pedophilia Jan. 21. 2008 and he body slammed her to the floor, kicked her in the ribs and broke her finger. Martinez pointed out that there was nothing in her journal about either incident. In fact, there is no journal entry on Jan 21 or 22 at all. On Jan. 24, she writes that she hasn’t been writing because nothing significant was happening. He said these incidents were significant enough she would have written about them in her journal.

Ok, might be mundane, but my question is: why would she take the rope? It supposedly was used to tie her to the bed while having sex. What purpose would it serve to take it? Unless of course that is a lie too. The only photo I saw was a piece of “string” on a stair. Very small piece. And how did HIS camera & clothes get into the washer if she “ran out of the house?” The roommates didn’t put it there…certainly the “ninja” people didn’t! Where was his dog found when the roommates came home?

Nancy Pennington — I remember the same testimony from Jodi about the sequence of her catching Travis masturbating to the photo of a young boy. When Nurmi asked her, she said she returned to Travis’s house for the angel she had left in his bedroom, and found him doing the deed. On cross, she didn’t mention any of that, but came over to swap cars and snarkily couldn’t recall what time she left work to do it. Two completely different accounts, and Martinez can prove with the phone records that she never went there that afternoon. It’s just getting started. I think this next week will find Martinez catching her in one lie after another. Her downfall is that Nurmi let her talk too much on the stand, and she overestimates how smart she is. Tomorrow, Martinez will have had 3 days to prep for more cross, and I can’t wait. I do expect that Nurmi has coached Jodi to be more humble and emotional on the stand, so the smirks and sarcastic barbs will be gone, and the librarian button-down and pre-K hair clasp will be back.

This is an excellent site. So glad to find it. I think Observer is totally right about why Martinez brought up Jan. 20th. I didn’t hear all of Jodi’s direct testimony (it was too x-rated for me) so I didn’t know the date Jodi testified the “tootsie roll” incident happened. But I know she painted it as demeaning.

So, by showing that journal entry, it reminds the jury that as on the phone sex tape, Jodi is enjoying herself with Travis.

He also shows her perfectly written journal entry on Jan. 24th that says nothing significant happened between the “naughty fantasy” entry and then. That’s when Jodi claimed to have had her finger broken. Yet the handwriting has not changed a bit.

As for Napolean, I remember seeing where the roommates assumed Travis was out of town, and they just took care of the dog. He was locked downstairs with the gate being placed on the stairs at the time of the killing. I’m sure Jodi did that.

I think he is a pug, IIRC.

Martinez is going to blow up her gun story too. A guy whom you believe is going to kill you is chasing you and you run into a closet and shut the door. Then you happen to remember a gun on the top shelf where you can’t reach. She would have to climb up on a ladder or chair. I didn’t see a ladder or chair in the picture of the closet.

A closed door is not going to stop a killer who is chasing you. A linebacker wrestler as she described Travis would have been right on her heels and tackled her before she could get to the gun.

Forensics shows he was shot in the head from above after he was stabbed 27 times in the back and chest, stabbed through the heart and nearly capitated with a slit from ear to ear. He died from the stab through the heart or the near decapitation.

The ballistics from the spent cartridge proves the gun used to shoot Travis was a 45 mm, the same as the gun that was stolen May 28 from her grandparent’s house.

Travis’s friends say he did not own a gun. He borrowed his friend’s gun to go hunting. Police found no gun holster, box or ammunition in Travis’s house. He knew how to handle guns so he would not leave a gun in the house loaded and cocked. He would not put a gun on a closet shelf where he could not easily retrieve it. The only reason to buy a 45 mm is for protection. He would put a gun in a drawer in a night stand so he could grab it in case of a home invasion not on a top closet shelf where he couldn’t reach it.

Jodi told Flores she was afraid of guns and public speaking. Yet, less than a month after she murdered Travis she bought a 9 mm gun and stashed it along with two knives in a rented car to go on the run to avoid arrest.

JA had to have already owned a knife at the time of the murder. She had to had a pretty good one to have slashed tires well enough that they had to be replaced. No doubt she tossed it in the desert as well.
One of the most disgusting things JA did is the fact that she just left TA there and allow
him to lay dead in that shower for 5 days. She had to have known his body would be decaying at a fast rate.To just leave another human being like that is unthinkable whether she loved him or not. It most likely meant that the family never had an opportunity to view his body. I know from personal experience this is especially important when a sudden unexpected death occurs to someone you are close to.

Observer thanks for clearing that up re: the significance of the pop rocks incident. I knew Martinez was trying to impeach her but I didn’t realize the connection of the date of that incident to the dates of the alleged mastubatory event and beating by Travis. I knew about all the journal saying nothing noteworthy between 1/20 or 1/21 and 1/24 but I didn’t realize Lonnie’s baptism was on the 20th. I can’t keep track of all of these dates! So basically she talks about the hot sex in the journal and not the other two alleged incidents so he’s establishing the naughty fantasies did happen and the other two things didn’t b/c she didn’t write about them.

I can’t pretend to understand the law but I can’t help but wonder why its okay for nurmi to signal arias as seen in frame by frame review by hundreds. He rubs nose for no. He adjusts glasses for no memory and wiggles pen for yes. Plus one juror shakes head at jodi and gives her the calm down look. She is in the middle with pink and blue hair. Please review tapes. Jodi’s mother giggling and smirking is rude as Travis family was told no reactions. Also I do not understand the ludicrous right of defense to bar mr Martinez from use of no remorse. If something isn’t done to unsure fair trial right to prosecute as well as defend maybe a flooding of letters to the governor is in order. We are watching.

Hey guys, yes I made a point to state that it could be that those posts were not from Matt McCartney on the Jodi Arias Is Innocent site. I brought it up because apparently that site has gotten a bit of coverage in the news and supposedly Jodi’s sister has made official statements on the blog as well.

Anyhow, if anyone is interested on getting an insider’s perception on the jury’s reaction and responses, I highly recommend going to Websleuths if you haven’t already done so. I’ve gained some really good insight on what people are actually thinking during the trial. The feelings inside the courtroom and what people really think of JM and Wurmi Nurmi.

If donchais would permit the link: http://www.websleuths.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=513

    Observer :
I get so sick of reading and hearing journalists saying Jodi was calm and held up against the prosecutor. Of course she did. Psychopaths have no fear and no feelings. No matter what Martinez throws at her, it won’t phase her. She will smirk, laugh and smile thinking he is just being ridiculous like she did with Travis.

You and me both! I’m surprised that they don’t get that this actually discredits her as a woman who was abused and cowers under dominating men. That should be obvious to them. This is not a woman who would allow anyone to abuse her.

Besides, no dude would buy a .25 caliber gun for self-defense. I hear they are pretty unreliable.

Typically, .25 and .22 caliber pistols are used for low noise head shots and have long been the weapon of choice by organized crime for close up and personal hits. You only need a .45 caliber pistol for situations where you need the round to pass through the car door before it passes through the driver of the vehicle. Very loud, too.

Right, Deni. The way Jodi reacts to a man she can’t manipulate and control is slash his tires, slash his girlfriend’s tires, stab him in the back, slit his throat and shoot him in the head. I bet she wishes she had her knife in the courtroom. She would go right for Martinez throat. This isn’t a woman who shakes when men get angry or lets any man tell her what to do. I’m sure Martinez will point that out. I bet she won’t listen to squirmy wurmi either when he tells her to stop smirking, smiling, laughing and throwing back barbs at the prosecutor.

Jodi thinks she’s smarter than anyone including the prosecutor and her own attorneys. She went against her first attorneys advice and did media interviews in jail which are now being used against her. She fired her attorneys and tried to act as her own attorney until she got into trouble forging a letter from Travis and trying to smuggle a code message to influence a witness. Nurmi tip toes around her for fear she will fire him. When Nurmi tried to lead her to say something that would help her case, she balked and said the opposite. Martinez didn’t object, because the more she talked the more she proved her case. Jodi Arias is the boss, not Nurmi.

Correction: Martinez didn’t object because the more she talked the more she proved HIS case.

About this motion “Wurmi ” filed. No matter which came first , gun shot to the head , slit throat or 27/29 stab wounds or the other way around HOW is it not cruel/heinous?? Plus I do not understand why they are making such a big deal about Flores since JA testified that she shot him first. You’d think “Wurmi ” would be happy with that. It seemed pretty clear Flores’ statement was an honest mistake.

  49. 02/25/2013 at 11:45 am

Nancy, I think Wurmi Nurmi knows he’s losing the case, especially after the smackdown delivered by Martinez last Thursday. He’s pulling out all the stops now to keep Arias from being a Dead Woman Walking. But I agree with you! It doesn’t matter which came first, it was a cruel death to inflict on someone.

JA is totally incapable of answering a yes or no question today! It appears that she knows she’s screwed with Martinez and so does Wurmi.

Jodi was arrogant, cocky and argumentative until Martinez delivered a knockout punch. She said she wasn’t worried about going to prison when she changed her story because she was planning on committing suicide. Then he turned it around on her and brought up that she didn’t commit suicide after knicking her wrist with a razor because it stung, She was still cocky until Martinez said, “Don’t you think it hurt Mr. Alexander when you thrust a knife in his chest?” Her face turned gray and she put her head down and her voice was weak and she appeared to be wiping tears off her chin.

She was feeling sorry for herself that she was being outed as a selfish liar and a cold blooded killer. She didn’t shed one tear when she admitted to killing Travis.

The emotion she is displaying is guilt, not remorse. She kept saying she wouldn’t admit to the police she killed Travis because she didn’t want anyone to know she was capable of doing such a thing. She also looked guilty when Martinez brought up that she as Travis’s killer had the nerve to send flowers to his grandmother and pretend she was sorry.

Exactly what I saw. JM is showing what a liar she is. He is getting her to admit that she lied so many times after she murder TA. I think she will start crying in self pity during the next round. She seems to be coming “un-hinged” They showed TA’s family after he asked the question about TA’s grandma. Glad to see they are being represented finally. Good job to Juan Martinez. Meanwhile, JA’s mom can’t seem to stop texting or tweeting. Wonder what that is about.

  57. 02/25/2013 at 3:20 pm

She does not know the meaning of the word truth. Martinez is on a roll and she knows it. Her elaborating on her answers is driving me
nuts. She is still trying to control the questioning and I do believe she is trying to get to Martinez. Who does she think she is fooling-messing with the wrong man.

  58. 02/25/2013 at 3:25 pm

Is Jean Casarez for real. Thinks a guy would not talk about having a gun. Because she does not talk about her’s. This is in regards to the tape from Dave Hall that “Wurmi” got introduced into court.

Yes! Her avoidance of just answering the damn question is ridiculous! I bet this must also be working the jury’s’ collective last nerve. Does JA not see that she is contradicting her own testimony? It turns my stomach thinking about how Travis’s grandmother must have felt when she found out a killer sent her flowers and a note. I am willing to bet she never sent her own grandmother flowers for any occasion.

I find it interesteing that a show such as In Session who is suppose to be partal has already convicted her and only interviews people who have done the same! The trial is not even over and I watch parts of it daily and as someone who was abused myself I can relate but I do feel that regardless of that it was way more than self defense! What she did was overkill obviously from all the wounds Travis received but as a news show you should be impartial and not constantly calling her a liar as you do during each break! In Session has already made up their minds and has no busicness reporting ont hsi story any longer if they cannot stay impartial! U an just saying…..

  63. Nancy Pennington
    02/26/2013 at 5:21 pm

To Anonymous: Gee I can’t understand why anyone including InSession would think JA is a liar or think she is guilty. She is a PROVEN liar and she has admitted that she killed him. Also if you have been watching InSession you would have seen several criminal attorneys that have defended her. The reason so many of their guests feel she is a liar and guilty is because she is showing that with every word out if her mouth. Also, have you ever heard of free speech? InSession has the right to play whatever they choose.

I can’t believe no one has brought up Jodi’s right ring finger as being cut when she was attacking Travis with the knife that slipped in her hand due to the blood.
She cut a tendon!! She would have required tendon repair to make her finger normal/straight again. Martinez needs to put a hand surgeon on the stand!!

I was wondering where were the room mates or did they have separate apartment with there own washing machine. Why did it take so long to discover that travis wasnt on the trip to cancun. What about the group he was going with? You would think they would wonder where he was way before 5 days?

No. One was on vacation, the other was house sitting and working, Travis was on working trips a lot and wasn’t going to Cancun till the day after he was found. Friends he was going to travel with were repeatedly calling and texting and finally decided to check on him!

How can Jodi claim self defense? She states the gun went off on accident…meaning she didn’t pull the trigger, so, she didn’t feel her life was in jeopardy, or, she would have pulled the trigger. She claims she doesn’t remember anything after she accidentally shot him in the head, so again, how can she claim self defense???
