Jodi Arias Murder Trial – Day Forty

04/02/2013

By now, you all know the defense is again asking for a mistrial because of the Juan photos and if they don’t get that they want Juror 5 bounced.  Will be interesting to see the fireworks!

9:36MST…all in chambers!  Alexander family brought to chambers!

This is mind and butt numbing!

Family and attorneys have been in chambers for over a 1/2 hour…this is out of control…bout ready to gnaw a limb off!

Obviously, the mistrial arguments are sealed so it’s taking place in chambers.

Guess the one saving grace is we aren’t listing to Baby Huey whine!

Wonder if they sent the jury to brunch?

Screen shot 2013-04-02 at 2.27.18 PMCourt begins at 11:17 MST.

LaViolette back on the stand.

Mistrial denied and Juror 5 excused!

Now Nurmi bitchin about media coverage over the weekend!

LaViolette says Chris and Sky Hughes told Jodi to move on…

Objection, hearsay…sidebar…

Screen shot 2013-04-02 at 2.23.01 PMScreen shot 2013-04-02 at 2.23.23 PMSam and Tanisha are crying…my heart is breaking for them.

LaViolette says Sky and Chris told Jodi that Travis had a history with women and she should move on.  He mistreats Jodi and he has a history with mistreating women.

Sky’s email said she had concerns about Jodi and Travis’ relationship and Travis’ history with women.

Chris and Sky were trying their best to get Jodi out of the picture and away from their close friend!  She had lied to them about Travis.

Arias emailed Travis on 2/7 and LaViolette says Jodi felt better about the relationship after the Sky and Chris emails and the fact Travis addressed her concerns.  That gave Jodi hope about their relationship.

Valentine’s day gifts of Spidey undies and a tee shirt that says, Travis’…she doesn’t know about female underpants.

Barf bag alert and don your tin foil hat…all of this is Jodi’s lies and bs, backed up by a respected member of the abuse community, or a once respected member!

February 2007, Travis and Jodi were ‘officially’ boyfriend/girlfriend…Travis didn’t want that known publicly.

Travis said it was ok for her to date others, however Jodi was claiming to be a Mormon.  She was dating non-Mormons!

According to Alyce, the email to Abe (sent accidentally to Travis) shows Jodi has empathy and thinking about how Travis might feel about her relationship with Abe.

Alyce is totally misinterpreting based on Arias’ bs story!

I sincerely doubt Travis called Abe a balding Jew!  Don’t care what the emails say…we all know Jodi hacked all of Travis’ accounts!

Katie Wick @KatieWickUSA

Juror 5 crying as she was taken to elevator…I’ve watched her for 9 weeks. She was most attentive of all jurors! #JodiArias

Not sure wth is going on but, is it me or is Stephens all over the place on objections?

Lunch recess called.

Jurors will be escorted by guards and taken out a different door and meet back at a different location to avoid the media.

Expect to hear from Juror 5!

Court resumes at 1:39 with a sidebar…acckkkkkk!

I’d really like to know who is at fault for all the lateness…Sherry-baby ultimately, but this is freakin nuts!

Lord, we’re only into June 2007!

The law of chastity was very important to Jodi…spew!

June 5, Jodi’s journal says how much she admires Travis, who is so strong and how the touched her spiritually, but she has begun to be suspicious…he flirted with others in front of her and didn’t introduce her to others.

Man, LaViolette bought into to this crap hock, line, and sinker!Screen shot 2013-04-02 at 4.49.28 PM

Dang, back to the Law of Attraction and what it meant to Arias…Juan objects…sidebar…

Now we moved on to her moving to Mesa in July 2007, but she and Travis aren’t living together.

July 25th Jodi’s journal entry says they violated each other’s trust.  Travis isn’t providing a basis for trust.  Jodi indicates she feels stupid for looking at his text messages and cell phone and shows self-blame for staying in the relationship.

Now an email where Arias apologizes for not being able to loan Travis $4,000…she never loaned him squat!

Did Travis ask other people for money that you know of?  Yes.

Are you aware of the baseball game Jodi went to with friends?

Objection…hearsay…sidebar…

About the baseball game, what do you know from speaking to Ms. Arias?  Supposedly it was Travis’ b’day.  Travis calls and asked why she hasn’t planned to spend time with him on his b’day.

Objection, overruled…

Travis guilt’s her and she asks Travis to pick her up, he refuses so her friend Rachel drove her there and Jodi baked him a cake and they spent the evening together.

The guilt is subtle, not direct.

Jodi obviously cared more than Travis did.  Jodi had less power in the relationship.

Abusive relationships come from a place when there is a difference in power.

2:24 MST, afternoon recess called early…

I’m pretty disgusted today for some reason!  It’s like LaViolette is just reading from a script…it’s so down pat!

You are aware of Mr. Alexander making-out with another woman?  Yes, Jodi walked in and then immediately left.

They were still carrying on like they were a couple?  Yes.

The next day, Jodi said he was very upset and wanting to commit suicide…wtf????

I don’t know if he wanted to commit suicide, but he was banging his head against the door and she tried to calm him down.  It was ok if he wanted to date, but she wanted to know about it!

Hmmm, noticed Gidget fixed her bald spot!

ritanita wants to know… Oy vey, how many times do we have to go over the same crap? Jodi said it, Samuels said it, LaViolette says it… Over and over and over and over and over…

Good lord, Willmott shows LaViolette a journal entry and LaViolette says she’s never seen it before!!!  Then adds Jodi told her about it, though!

Now the journal says she’s suicidal and feels horrible about herself…back to Laws of Attraction, but indicates she thinks she maybe able to change things and that keeps her stuck in the relationship.  Blames it on herself.

Well, duh!

Willmott has just pushed Lisa Andrews under the bus again, but remember the jury has seen and heard her on the stand and told them she was a kid and in retrospect, she was totally wrong!

I’m so sick of Willmott making Travis out as an abuser!

Whoa…3:52…5-minute recess calls after objection by Martinez…

He’s had enough of all this foo-foo dust!

Holy crap…AL at podium with Willmott flipping through pages…never seen anything like this before!

4pm MST jury back.

Saying email shows email shows Travis asked Ms. Hughes for money?

No idea where this is coming from!

Deanna Reid was in a relationship for 7 years with Travis.  Jodi believed Deanna was crazy and jealous from information from Travis.

OMG, Jodi is pissed because Travis is ‘on crack’ if he believes she and Deanna are alike!

God, Jodi is delighted with this talk of Deanna!

Lord won’t ya buy me a Mercedes Benz?

4:29 Jury sent home…Arias watching like a hawk and looking back to Donavan!

I don’t even know what to say!

Supposedly 9:30 MST tomorrow, but we know how that goes!

Once again donchais, thank you. How you stayed awake through this drivel and character assassination of TA for the nth time is beyond me. All JM has to do is stand up and ask AL is did everything you spoke about come from JA? Yes Do you know that she is a professional liar? No Did you speak to TA? No. I have nothing further!

  3. NancyB
    04/02/2013 at 7:46 pm

In the police interview tapes with JA, the female detective was trying to get her to talk about what happened on the day Travis was killed. This detective kept providing scenarios and asking JA if that was what happened that day. JA started asking to view the photos again and this female detective told her that she would check and came back and explained that Det Flores had them and he wasn’t in the building. Later on JA again asks to see the photos and the lady detective was going to show them to her although Det. Flores had already told Jodi NO.

After Jodi asks to talk to Det. Flores the female detective leaves the room. It’s at this point that Jodi changes her story from “I was never there” to “2 Ninja type people were the killers”. Jodi, IMO, got the idea for this new story from listening to that female detective discuss scenarios. Did any of you get the sense that this was happening when you watched?

When questioning a suspect couldn’t the line of questioning such as the female detective offered to Jodi run a high risk of influencing what the suspect is going to claim in their alibi and events/persons involved in the crime?

i watched the whole interrogation. did you notice how she went off on happy little tangents about NOTHING? it was maddening. i couldn’t believe they kept giving her scenarios too, but i think they were trying anything to get an answer. she is not going down without a fight.

Where’s the Justice – I brought your comment over to the new thread so that everyone can meet you!

I found this website last week, and nearly fainted from relief that there were others out there just like me. I thought I was going crazy, shouting at my t.v., watching HLN, and their annoying reporting, and feeling as if I was the only one who thought this lunatic was guilty, and deserved to spend – at least – the rest of her life in prison! I read all the old posts from the start of the trial, and nearly all of your comments. What wonderfully insightful people you are!! And it so happens that you and I think exactly alike…so the conclusion is that we are all right…so these numbnuts…wurmi (love that!) Gidget (even better), and Hodi (best so far!)….are all wrong! I have found home!

And Commerce 1…me too! And I know better then to have my mouth full of any type of liquid. (Get your minds outta the gutter, just my usual vodka tonic). But I am the one that suggested wrapping keyboards, monitors etc. in plastic wrap.

From PK – had to carry it over. This pretty well sums up Alyce!!!

    Dear Alyce,

My ex boyfriend disrespected me for the last time despite the fact that I pointed the way to every orifice in my body on repeated occasions, stalked him continually to always be near to him, slashed his tires twice hoping to save him from possibly being in an automobile accident, and made a surprise visit to his house, driving all the way from Northern California to Mesa, Arizona, to give him one final chance to be the man of my dreams for now and all eternity and still he refused to take me to Cancun with him to make up for ever breaking up with me and making me have to express my displeasure with his rejection by luring him into the shower for a bloody photo shoot followed by a final 25 caliber shot to the head to finalize our relationship once and for all. Please tell me that you understand and empathize with my actions and that I was properly justified in defending my insatiable ego as I did so brutally on June 4, 2008
    .
    Dear Jodi,

I feel your pain and for $250 per hour to do your self serving research and $300 per hour to rant on and on under oath about how no guy in his right mind would ever have justification to reject you for
any reason and, in my professional opinion, any guy who did have the audacity to reject you would be classified under my system of evaluation as physically and mentally abusive.

Sums up my feelings exactly! Everyone goes on and on about how “professional” and “like able” she is. Maybe she has done good work in the past, but the fact that she’s trying to help Jodi get out of murdering (I truly feel that’s what happened) another human being makes me sick! As I dont believe her life was ever in danger from Travis, I can’t say I have a lot of respect for her. Been a bit obsessed with trial. Glad to have found people who feel the same way as I do.

Since i’m new to this site…I have question and a comment. What does WOBO stand for? And…does anyone think that the photo of Travis sitting in the shower is possibly from the first blow? I mean…how cud he be standing one minute, and then sitting the next…and not sitting comfortably?? Could she have hit him first when he was still in the shower…and that’s what the photo shows?

So I keep wondering if Tri Color was dismissed regardless of what she really said and the judge just released her to appease the DT? Or was it just not possible for this particular judge to have said that Juror #5 had done nothing wrong and let her stay? Did Judge Stephens find that she did nothing wrong but make her leave anyway to avoid conflict? I hate to think that about her but I’m wondering.

      04/03/2013 at 11:35 am

      Nancy-
Judges cannot make rulings “to appease” a party. They must have a legal basis –supported by a factual determination– in order to dismiss a juror. There is a record of the proceeding, but it is currently sealed. The dismissed juror is free to comment if she so chooses.

If the criminal lawyers accept that which has been told to them by Jodi Arias, it would seem as though they truly suffer some form of malfunction of the brain (that has been described as cognitive dissonance). If they don’t accept what their client has presented, yet present the case in the way instructed, knowing the particulars to be false, they could be disbarred for such an egregious perpetration of a fraud upon the Court. So, they must appear to believe in what they are doing. After all, if they did not, they would lose their Bar licenses, and they would lose their place on the Court Registry along with a loss of the ability to bill the State for the outrageous sums of money that this case (or any case where they could be Court-appointed as Defense Counsel) has cost [or will be billed] the taxpayers of Arizona.

The federal Constitution (as well as the State’s Constitution) restates that which has already been recognized to be an inherent Right of the people, which is to be represented by Defense Counsel if the Government (of, by, and for the people) should decide to bring criminal charges against that person. Since, there have been so many people falsely accused, maliciously prosecuted, and wrongly convicted, this Right must remain sacrosanct. It is not an inane rumor that people have been put to death, only to later be found out to be innocent [after the execution]. It is not a false rumor that, in some cases, the State actually has knowledge of the wrongful conviction and has still permitted the execution of the wrongly convicted. This is a problem in the United States that is getting worse [not better] because of all of the corruption that can be found at all levels of government (and the willingness of those who could work for change [refusing to do the right thing and] turning into tools of the trade to be used by the corrupt amongst us).

At one time, there were a couple of characters that some could have thought to be there for the citizenry, to protect the people from abuses, whether inside or outside the sphere of those employed by government. Richard Samuels was thought to be a psychologist that would be able to assist in Court proceedings, when there was a dispute [in the State of New Jersey] about child custody, or sexual offenses [in the State of Arizona]. Like those which are a feature of the clientele of Wurmi’s practice [in defending rapists, voyeurs, pornographers, child molesters, and other slimy excuses for human beings charged with sexual crimes], Richard Samuels was thought of as a psychologist who would testify truthfully, in a nonbiased way that was not prejudicial, in order that a person who had been falsely accused of a sexual crime could be protected from a wrongful conviction so that the person he represented could walk amongst us freely. There was not a concern that Court-appointed psychologists would [put their licenses in jeopardy, to] make up favorable stories for the accused (charged with sexual offenses) to conform to a false story that a criminal lawyer was using (that was definitely not candor before the Tribunal [and put the lawyer’s license in jeopardy]), of which the sexual predator would be unleashed on the public just because criminal lawyers and expert witnesses possessed a more intense love of money [over love for fellow man] that put them in a position to receive remuneration for the deliberate omissions, half-truths, and/or falsehoods [in order that the hapless taxpayer suffer from the psychologist’s false testimony and lawyer’s fraud upon the Court, rather than have moneys exacted for purposes of payment for safety and security measures].

Alyce Dunn LaViolette was also in the category of Richard Samuels, who was believed to be an integral person who was so needed that Court funds would be extended for her place as a valued social worker, who could competently represent the TRUTH OF THE MATTER in any Court proceeding. These persons and the entities that they represented (which were usually the not-for-profit or non-profit that got the paycheck [with no moneys removed because of the status that exempted them from any collection of taxes, whether federal, State, or local]) were paid handsomely because of their worth in the chain of command that served the ultimate person, the citizenry of that particular area. Nevertheless, as can be learned from watching and listening to the machinations and flare-ups in the Jodi Arias case, it can be said that there are times that these well-respected and honored individuals are worse than the career politician, professional lobbyists, and cronies of that ilk [that are responsible for assisting in the placement of these purported experts in their field] because these purported experts are supposed to make up the safety net for the people [they represent, because of the moneys paid them], although they have never taken any time to repair the rips torn into the security fabric — even when they are the ones tearing the safety net asunder]. These experts in their field are supposed to be a layer of eyes and ears to provide General Public with added protections against the usurpation of their true strength. They are supposed to be a line of defense in case Major Media becomes tainted or loses the ability to faithfully publish the true course of events.

Instead, what we Americans have today are [traitors to the cause] a bunch of sell-outs taking their pieces of silver because of the excuse that everybody else does. They have figured out the way to take advantage of the free ride offered by politicians [who have convinced the taxpayer of the added benefit of the service for their wives, elderly parents, children, dog, or whatever could tug at the heartstrings]. Those who do not corrupt themselves, who refuse to jump on the gravy train are silenced because the politicians have arranged no other means of travel and the moral, ethically sane are left in the dust of those who don’t mind selling off whatever is desired to stay on that gravy train. These sell-outs do not want to lose their place as valued entities. The non-profit or not-for-profit status is easily recognized as putting a price on that which is offered, but the status is only maintained to take advantage of programs and remain to use to generate more income from those willing to open their wallets to contribute more to a cause that actually does not benefit in the manner that is expressed on the surface. (This can be compared to the method of operation of Jodi Arias when dialing for dollars, and those involved do possess similar qualities to those held by the criminal psychopath, Jodi Ann Arias.)

The only way back on is to ingratiate oneself in the company of the sell-outs, to work with the non-profits and not-for-profits in the cover-up of what they actually are. (So, anyone that wants to fill the shoes of LaViolette, when another opening appears, can offer himself or herself.) If enough time is spent in these groups, one might be able to find himself or herself on a Court Registry to be called as an expert for a Court case in which they can make up any story for which the money is available. [Whoring has not been easier.] Since the allowance is way beyond what the expertise is worth, these opportunities to collect a pretty penny for merely misrepresenting the truth (in a manner that is usually very hard to detect) are taken for granted as a reward for being in the in-crowd of sell-outs and easily corrupted. Grant moneys and invites to special government events are used as proof of the value placed upon these experts, when applying for compensation at taxpayer expense.

The people know that there is corruption and that entire cities are starting to claim bankruptcies. But, they have only looked at the tip of the iceberg when looking at the top layer of career politicians and not looking at those placed as public servants (to protect that which has served them so well in the past). The people also have failed to examine programs, such as the programs that have sucked up the taxpayer dollars to redistribute the wealth of the people of the State of Arizona to a person from the State of California, that has been described as some kind of an expert, that merely seems to work well with certain lawyers licensed by the Arizona Bar in spouting what they have outlined.

When videos were first posted [at this web site during discussion of the psychopathy of Jodi Arias and the criminal activity of this accused] that showed corrupt politicians, the question arose as to why the focus was on so many politicians in those videos. It could be because these are the characters that are most in view and can be documented for that which is done. A Bill can be passed that takes taxpayer money to use for mental health programs operating out of the Court. Or, as Crystal Harris has mentioned in prior posts, a State Legislator can pass legislation that, not only fund much needed legislation to assist those who have been abused, but will fund groups like those operated by persons of the caliber of a LaViolette. Crystal Harris’ husband attended one of these programs, and she said he got worse because he was able to learn other tactics that he could use while abusing the system when continuing to abuse her and their [own] children.

This is a disservice to those who truly want help to get out of the situation that has grounded them. Rather than the abuse victim being able to pull out of the muck and mire, the abuser can take flights of fancy because the abuser is protected in these programs (established at taxpayer expense by those like LaViolette). Although this would not seem to make sense, it does for those that benefit from these programs. Just imagine. If these programs were not available, no one could use them. If they were not used, the services they provide would not be able to be paid. In order to pay for services, the program must exist and a person must be made to attend the program. The program becomes supporting when a Court orders a person into one of these programs. Either the person pays or the generous taxpayers subsidize the perpetrator’s punishment of attending this type of program.

Since these programs operate like Alcoholics Anonymous and other programs for those with certain addictions or abusive personalities, it is a given that the program will not work unless the person is willing to change. LaViolette testified to this exact same detail (of the domestic violence program for abusers) while on the stand a short while ago. Thus, she knows that her program can generate an enormous amount of moneys, because those Court ordered into the program usually have no inner compulsion to change and will be sentenced or have to attend again at a later date. They are merely acting in pretense to avoid a jail sentence. This artful design of going along to appease while benefiting [or beneficial pretense] is learned by and from criminals and abusers when watching those already using and abusing the system. The system is easily used. Just look at the way that LaViolette can present testimony that she has to know is false, while knowing so will be a character assassination upon a man who was brutally murdered by a psychopath — that she is trying [through her testimony] to put back on the streets to abuse more innocent victims. She has taught her pupils [that attend her programs] very well about how to act in their best Private Interest to benefit from the government’s generosity.

A little research into the domestic violence program in the State of Arizona shows the program to run in the same fashion as that established in the State of California. (The domestic violence program recognizes victims, and it does not identify a specific gender [which LaViolette and her government sponsored program does not seem to grasp]. However, the program operates with non-profits and not-for-profits and does not use funds to assist a single victim, as the funding is strictly for the entities, like that run by a person like a LaViolette.) Crystal Harris has so much experience with that program in California. This State program [in California] would fund other adventures, like that run by a LaViolettte. So, not only could LaViolette be thought of as capable of testifying TRUTHFULLY in a case like this one, where she is not supposed to totally re-lie upon the words written or spoken by an accused [like Jodi Arias] without also taking into consideration the entire facts of the case (that would also include the situation of the other party [even though **shudder** the victim is known to be a male], since it is a well-known fact that abusers lie about being abused), but LaViolette would be able to get support and major [untaxable] funding for her program in California (just as those set-up as non-profits and not-for-profits do in Arizona). This expert could receive State funding from California for her program regarding assistance to victims of domestic violence (who come in all shapes, sizes, colors, and GENDERS) together with a big-extra-big-bucks reward from the criminal lawyers out-of-State to stay within what these criminal lawyers have already outlined as their truth of the matter [contraindicated to anyone with a brain or any attorney who valued the Bar license], so long as their truth of the matter is the actual TRUTH OF THE MATTER.

The criminal lawyers in the State of Arizona have made it appear that there is no valued social worker in that entire State. Thus, these criminal lawyers have invited an out-of-State resident to feed at the trough of [what they may have determined to be] expendable Court funds. Maybe the move on the treasury of the State of Arizona by this social worker, LaViolette, was caused when she found herself not happy with the amounts of money in the State of California (which would especially be so since she gets paid an hourly fee of three hundred dollars for every hour she is on the stand [spewing her rehearsed gibberish] plus added money to pay for her upkeep, transportation, fine dining, hotel, airfare, etc., etc., etc., and anything else that can be billed to the State). After all, with municipalities like the City of Stockton, claiming bankruptcy, maybe she needs to spread her net further to trap the free-flowing moneys from out-of-State. It doesn’t seem as though the State of Arizona cares to fatten the wallets of the residents of the State, when paying such exorbitant sums of money to an out-of-State resident (who is aiding and abetting in the presentation of a manufactured story that could assist in putting a psychopath back on the street and release a person that deliberately murdered one of their own). Even though the programs run by the State of Arizona appear to be for the benefit of the State residents, this Court case proves that the constant give-away of the State’s tax dollars [exacted from the residents of the State] can be payable upon demand to any out-of-State resident, like this one — that the criminal lawyers for Jodi Arias have found provides an invaluable service, worth more for the California taxpayer than to any fellow resident. This is what the politicians in the State of Arizona have arranged. So, it must be supposed that what LaViolette is doing won’t be punished by the State, and the State will gladly pay her every penny she has charged — even though most of what this purported expert has asserted, under OATH (which would be a felony and nullify the contract she would have with the State) is fallacy.

I gotta say, this is what I also believe. You got it right. These mediocrities who couldn’t be hired at any reputabale university are spewing their gibberish because they game he system. They love all the “troubled”people that are forced to come to them while they are paid by other people’s money. I’d like to see what Alice B Toklas could make on her own without the subsidies of the government and the non-profits. If she could testify on the basis she did in this case, on one sided opinions, she is capable of doing whatever it takes to stay in business. She’s got a racket going.

Never mind, I can answer my own question. It is the same Chris Hughes, no? And he’s on the prosecutor’s witness list for rebuttal? What I don’t understand is has he ever explained why he told Jodi to stay away from Travis b/c of his supposed abuse? Prob not if he’s on a witness list. But how could his best friend do that to him? I’m not privy to the whole story so maybe I’m missing something?

We just read something on another site (we think it was that David Lohr site because we were looking for something) and it indicates that the Hughes’ found out that JA had lied to them about TA which is what caused them to send that email and then TA sending back. Later they apologized to TA for overstepping their grounds.

Also, you have to remember they have been very clear that they did not want her in their house or around their kids and that they told her as much. After they told her this (according to witnesses) she still stayed at their house and would not leave. She has poor boundaries and does not respect the rights of others because she is a sociopath. Since she evidently didn’t listen when they told her to leave their house, why would they believe she would stay away from their friend Travis – unless they told her something extreme. They may have felt the best way to discourage her interest in Travis would be to tell her he had mistreated other women.

Pure speculation on my part, but I have dealt with a sociopath in my personal life and the normal means for establishing boundaries with them simply do not work.

Hey all:) I want to know how the heck Travis’s family was in chambers with JA and found the intestinal fortitude not to attack her. If that was me, I would have to be rolled in there like Hannibal Lector. I’m sensing JA is smug and not scared today for some reason. Perhaps she is drawing strength from seeing Travis’s family’s pain. I like(insert eye roll) when the expert states “jodi witnessed Travis making out w a different woman.” Ya, SHE WAS LURKING IN THE WINDOWS SPYING!!! Thanks for the address for Samantha:)

I noticed that too Kristin. I think LaViolette said Jodi “walked in on Travis with another woman” when she should have said, “Jodi spied from his backyard into his window, where she saw Travis with another woman.” I bet Juan will bring that up on cross!

An expression popped into my head a few minutes ago: putting lipstick on a pig. LaViolette’s testimony is like putting lipstick on a pig. She’s trying to tie all Jodi’s journal entries together to make her behavior look reasonable or look pretty for the jury. But in the end a pig is still a pig, and lipstick comes off, which it will when Juan cross-examines her and presents his rebuttal case.

Yes! But I missed the last half of the show. Was the father’s interrogation on the show as well, and if so, what did he say? I thought the mom’s was very telling. When she said Jodi’s friends would tell her she needed help, why didn’t she do anything about it?! I also wonder if Jodi was “freaking out,” whatever that means, all the time, could she possibly suffer from borderline disorder? If she was a true psychopath, would she freak out? Wouldn’t she just be calm all the time?

Watching Dr Drew and wondering if the interview tape with Det Flores and mama bear can be played in court ????

    • WhereIsSHE
      04/03/2013 at 12:02 pm

      Nancy-
While the information about Jodi that Jodi’s mother shares during the interrogation is certainly now legally RELEVANT (thanks to the testimony from Dr. Fog and AL regarding Jodi’s “depression”, “anxiety”, mental states, etc), it could be ruled to be inadmissible evidence under a 401/403 analysis, i.e. where, even though RELEVANT, certain evidence can be ruled to be “inadmissible”, because the relevance is “outweighed by the danger of unfair prejudice”. I am not aware of any court ruling on the contents of these videotapes.
      ALSO-
We have only seen the smallest snippets. We do not know the entirety of what was said.
There may be parts that the prosecutor does not want the jury to see/hear. And the problem is that once you introduce PART of the tape, your opponent can then introduce other parts of the tape.
      FINALLY-
It is also a STRATEGY CALL.
Jurors may not find sympathy for this defendant, but they might find sympathy for her mother and/or father, and that could affect their decision making process during the guilt phase and/or the penalty phase, which the prosecution does not wish to invite, because sympathy for a defendant’s parent(s) could extend to some leniency for the defendant.
Until I saw the video of her mother crying and asking Det. F how someone could do “that” (murder someone in such a violent and vicious manner) and then just show up back at home–and casually act as if nothing had happened– I was as unlikely as anyone else to feel honest sympathy for this woman due to the giggling, etc in the courtroom. Unlike others, I don’t find fault in her for sitting there in support of her child. If no one else, one’s own mother should be sitting in one’s support, regardless. She gave birth to Jodi, afterall. She changed her diapers and fed her and dressed her, etcetcetc.
Jeffrey Dahmer’s parents sat in support of him during his trial and sentencing while the victims’ family members screamed at him and cried their eyes out. That’s just what parents tend to do, and they have every right to do so.
Now… according to the National Enquirer, Jodi’s mother also attempted–at Jodi’s direction–to sell them the fake pedophile letters. THAT is NOT appropriate support of one’s child, no matter what.
So… until I saw her crying… I can honestly say I had zero sympathy for her.
But now? It’s hard to say. I imagine it was extremely difficult to be Jodi’s mom. From accounts, Jodi was a “handful”; was abusive; was full of rage (from time to time); appears to have a serious case of BPD (Borderline Personality Disorder). (*Dr. Fog said he diagnosed her with a personality disorder, “unspecified type”, but anyone who has studied/worked in the field/handled court cases where these issues arise can clearly see that she is a major Borderline case. The bad news for her is that personality disorders are NOT LEGALLY RECOGNIZED as legal “insanity” for purposes of an affirmative defense to homicide.)

I wonder whether the state’s expert will touch on this or leave it alone. The rebuttal case is going to be something to behold.

Tx WIShe. I get it. I didn’t hear all of the interview so she may have said more. Not sure if that is the place she told Det. F that she thought JA did IT. If there is anything in that statement that could help the def I’m sure they would be playing it and dissecting it over and over AND over (God help us). Tx again for your insight.

DougIme – there’s a bunch of us feeling the same way about wishing the judge would hurry things along. So you aren’t alone in your frustration on that believe me!

Hi folks, I’m sorry that I’m only up to reading #354 of previous thread, but I need to chip in at this point or I never will…time being of the essence! (donchais – I’m sorry to thread hop like this….as always, loving your work!!)

Anniefreeze and Syntara, I’m still going to remain a member of the Society of People Who Don’t Buy That Travis Had a ‘Day of Sex’ With Jodi Before He Died”; not after the ‘you are evil’ email a week prior to his death. I totes agree with Syntara that once you’re turned off (psycho is not sexy!!) it’s unlikely he would’ve wanted to have sex with her again, she would’ve creeped him out, and I’m sorry but both the yellow platinum do and the brown out were pretty awful haircuts, so I truly had to wince when the juror asked about the bad haircut…Totally agree with Syntara on the photos and I’m just surprised I believed Jodi until lately. Crikey, she had me, that fully creeps me out!

Here’s why I still think so. First, I thought I’d read that the camera had been run through the wash cycle with bedding and the other wet, bloody, bleached items (teeshirt, whatnot). Perhaps when she put that load in, she had to place earlier sheets she’d found in the washer, into the dryer. Another scenario is that after she arrived at 3-4am, logged onto his laptop and spied (what were the four songs someone accessed, does anyone know? Dido?), slept in his office, woke him by taking photos after having artfully placed the KY a few times, poor Travis probably had a huge fright at the sight of her (anytime after arriving, she may have planned to kill him, but perhaps she thought she’d do the ‘feminine wiles’ thing and try to ‘tempt’ him ‘one last time’. I see her naked with her camera. Travis wakes, freaks out a little, tells her it’s over, no sex even, she goes into that persona where she’s lighthearted and flippant and apparently ok about something; says she’s just there to say goodbye properly and or tell him she’s deleted the psycho sex tape that she’d likely have threatened to play at a conference or something….i mean she was so far gone in her psychosis, she imagined he would still want to sleep with her!

So he rejects her. They reach some kind of understanding about her spending a few hours there, on her way to Utah. At some point I’m sure he goes to take a leak. She takes the creepy braids pic, maybe does the snatch ones then. Who knows she she took em? I think it’s likely Travis was freaked out (a) about the sex tape and (b) about her psychoness. He would’ve allowed her to stay while he did a few things, phone calls, whatever (does anyone recall the content of such phone conversations/emails?). She would’ve offered to do a bit of his housework, as a ruse to stay longer. Strips and washes his bed. Gets new vacuum out. Wants loud sounds to drown out his screams. She dresses, pretends to leave, he is relaxed enough to take a shower. Perhaps she hides taking photos at first, because the photos of Travis in the shower are weird in the way there is no connection with the photographer, there’s no inadvertent smiling photos. The last one, certainly there is a sense of recognition and dawning horror. One shudders.

Anyway, since all I can think lately is of Travis, spinning in his grave, at the thought of her so rewriting history. It’s the least I can do for the guy, is not believe her.

This is about sex, Shaeffer, there’s no escaping that. But it’s a Greek tragedy writ large through televised trials and the internet. It’s about someone’s legacy, even their personal sexual legacy, being so hijacked. Instinctively we feel for Travis; he could have been my brother. Even though we have no power to convict her, we can express ourselves online, I’m sure it’s cathartic. And people are so bloody funny, I love the dark humour. Humour is after all our way of consoling ourselves and restoring faith in us all. So there are bad apples out there. Why are we surprised? Or are we only surprised at the audacity of a person, at what people are capable of?

I come from Australia where we don’t have the death penalty, because of the danger of executing innocent people, and I agree with that, even though I sometimes emotionally feel the opposite. I do feel that an appropriate sentence for Jodi Arias would be life imprisonment without parole, in isolation, and forbidden to give interviews the rest of her life. I don’t ever want to hear her ‘story’ again. As others have said, we’re getting the same lie told thrice, as though repetition will make it real. And she shouldn’t have access to any media at all, so she can’t salivate over her notoriety. Surely such sentence is possible!?!

Is there any possiblity that LaViolette can at some point try to salvage credibility and say, “Having now had the benefit of learning new information over the past 39 days, I have changed my diagnosis and I think it was JA who was the abuser and stalker? I mean, can she become a hostile witness or something?

jad – how can anyone force anyone to believe anything? They can’t say to Nurmi, no, stay and finish this trial and you have to believe her”, if he has changed his mind at some point and thinks she’s evil too? He can at most pretend.

Oh just while I think of it, why didn’t JM ask Jodi what she reckoned Travis meant by her psycho ways, evil things she did, etc? She would’ve surely floundered? Or was there something about how it was about his ‘issues’?

Also Syntara, the Zhang Yhi expose was amazeballs! Well done indeed. It doesn’t surprise, does it? Great catch.

There was a good bit in the interrogation videos somewhere (or maybe I saw it on HLN) where detective says, ‘If Travis hadn’t met you, he’d probably still be alive!” and she actually says, “Yes.” Which, at that poin tin her ninja story where it was all about Travis and they didn’t even know her (had to look at her licence) would not make any sense. I mean, they so had her at that point, that she even says she’s so done they don’t even need JM to win. It’s that rare acknowledgment of guilt.

Syntara, the whole duct tape thing I missed, so i’ve got to look into that! wow. It certainly makes sense why she was so fixated on her grip on the knife, in cross..it was sensitive to her, methinks. (I also don’t know what the whole ‘beat ya, winner’ thing is, so i’ll chase that one too….

BTW just on the deleted photos, I still think she never meant for anyone to see that photo series. She did it for a trophy, including the photo she took of Travis dead in shower, because, as she keeps telling herself, she’s a photographer, a big artist, this was her narrative, her photo story that she wanted to keep telling herself. Maybe she took the photo of him in the shower for that ‘morbid curiosity’ she claims she has, or maybe she wanted it for the purpose of studying it for forensic info. We’ll never know, I guess. But I seriously no longer think they had a ‘day of sex’ as is in danger of going down in history in this tragedy.

NancyB – I too think she got the ninja story from the detectives. At one point one det even says ‘Make it believable Jodi!’ and she responds to him like an eager acting student taking direction.

OK that’s all I got, see y’all again in a few days, where I’ll be way, way behind again 🙂 Apologies for the lengthy comment!

    • 04/02/2013 at 10:44 pm

GiGi I posted the text it was someone else who posted the tweet url on the Flying daggers movie synopsis. Ninjas in the trailer was all I found. Speak up whoever it was I’m soooo sorry I’ve forgotten! The kudos is yours not mine.

Rest of the movie/drama references collective effort. Robert and I had been to-ing and fro-ing on psycho and Othello references being deliberate. Think it’s obvious now.

Im with you on the trophies, I reckon she panicked when she saw the one of him with his throat slashed and threw it in the washing machine after deletion, hoping it would be unrecoverable. She panics when things go wrong she can’t think clearly…. just look at her ridiculous lies.. she can’t abstract reason rationally on the spur of the moment. Hence the drawing on memories and movie scripts for ‘inspiration’.

I think Juan Babes is leaving the disorder stuff for when his witness is on the stand and that’s when he’ll bring a heap of stuff to light. Just a guess. I’m making an exception of the DP here first time ever. So glad we don’t have DP in Oz.

Yes, they have requested it on more than one occasion. I wouldn’t rule it out now, especially for the deliberation phase.

  41. 04/02/2013 at 10:27 pm

During one of the interrogation tapes with Det. Flores JA stated that Travis did like anyone in the bathroom when he showered. That was his own time. If to be believed, she said she never went in there when he was there except she did to take the shaving picture. I find it interesting that was the place that she chose to invade and to murder him under the guise of a photo shoot.

    • 04/02/2013 at 10:28 pm

      Oops. Did not like

    • 04/02/2013 at 11:18 pm

No wonder he looks so pissed off in the pics. grrrrr and no wonder she said she had to force him into agreeing to them. He should have bundled her out of the house then, but she probably would have reached into her purse and shot him anyhow while he was pushing her out. grrrrrrrrrrrr poor poor Travis!

Wow!! Did you watch the video interrogations of JA’s Mother and Father?!! They told the detective she had been acting up for over a year and they were getting calls from her friends that she needed mental help! The father also said that she kept calling her mother (his wife) ranting and raving about nothing and then she’d call another day as if nothing was wrong. The father also made the connection of the break-in and the stolen gun at his in-laws. He came out with it before the detective even told him anything about TA being shot.

Too bad the jury will never see this!!! Boy….what an eye opener. We went looking for the video but got lost out there! Hate the internet!!

By the way….somebody asked about the recording we “accidently” made of ourselves while trying to figure out our IPAD….well that was way back in Jan or Feb when the trial first started and trust me…..that got deleted real quick!! No make-up, wrinkled hair, PJs, sweats, or whatever we wore to bed the night before was not something anybody was going to see!! We may be old……but we still have our vanity!!

Looks like we won’t have a computer again tomorrow so it’s HLN again……!@#$%!! We don’t go near the IPAD anymore……just not user friendly……in our opinion!

Anna I look at it this way.

If they think our opinions are valid.. we are onto something. They must be pretty stupid if they can’t work it all out for themselves. They have way more information at their disposal than we do and 1.4 million already spent??? .. on what if they need us to tell do their job for them?

Oh blast, there I go again. Well, you can’t well stop a speeding train or bullet. So let’s all strap on our seatbelts, wish ourselves ‘good luck with that’ and hope donchais doesn’t have to ban us all. Gee whiz. I’m feeling discombobulated. Ok to see the document when you get to the Clerk of Courts page just put in her last and first name and put in the dates 01/15/2013 -01/30/2013. Then open up the minutes for 1/15 and that’s were Mama Sandy’s statement is and then open up 1/30 minutes and on page 3 you’ll see that Nurmi has requested sequestration before! It was denied in these minutes.

I don’t have to do it right now because I know this is your time to participate here.

Yes, I saw the link, and I thank you. I watched it, and am figuring it all out.

I didn’t watch the proceedings today, other than about the first 10 minutes. I’ll read up on it here and see what wnet on. As I told Syn, this is my primary information source from now until Juan is up. How was the ball game? Did your team win?

      • Tracey A
        04/03/2013 at 2:14 am

Trust me Schaeffer, you missed nothing today other than more trashing of Travis’ good name. Most of us gotta a bunch of needed housework in.

Well, the ballgame. My dog sitter flaked on me so I had to stay home. Here I was, all suited up in my jersey. It was like I was dressed for Prom and my date never shows up. I was actually gonna get an extra hotdog, using your excuse “have one for me, they’re better at the ballpark”. Yes! My team won and it was the best Opening Day ever! ‘Cept, I had to watch it on TV. But that gave me hours and hours of search time to find what I was looking for, and couldn’t.

So I put a Shout Out up and wouldn’t cha know it Chrissie and LindaLou come up with what I was originally searching for…damn miserable &^%$#@@^^^&&&%$$%!!!!

However, I am so grateful to them. Those vids explain ALOT! Glad you found them!

But my BF got tix for tomorrow nite and it’s “hoodie” nite. Can’t wait. I’ll have a hotdog for you then! Promise! How do you like it? Me, I’m just a mustard and onions girl. But I’ll get one however you prefer! 😀

U posted earlier today (maybe yesterday) about WOBO’s mother already snitching on a juror, and that went nowhere. I have no doubt she is the one who left the message on Judge Stephens phone, either. It would be interesting to know if this is the juror WOBO’s mother and aunt have been yucking it up about and point to.

So I want to say that I’m so happy there are others out there so passionate about this crime and justice being served. It really makes me happy to know I’m not the only one, so Thank You so much!! I just have a question. I watched a small clip of Jodi’s parents interrogation video on HLN. In the clip Jodi’s own Dad calls her strange, and her Mother says she has mental issues, and her friends have called her in the night saying Jodi needs help. I would imagine this is important evidence for the prosecutions case, so why has it not been presented in court? Is there a possibility of it coming up or being presented? Any ideas?

Also, from watching Jodi’s Dad’s interrogation video, her Dad comments that Jodi would call and yell at her Mom often. That makes me believe Jodi has kicked her Mom, like previously testified by Dick. Why would this not be highlighted by the prosecution? If the suspect has kicked her Mom before, that’s huge.

She is manipulative yes, but brilliant no. There is a big difference. She uses any intelligence she has for deception and her game and relies on movie scripts and prompts she imitates. Brilliant people do not need to imitate they think for themselves.

  81. Schaeffer
    04/03/2013 at 2:09 am

I know Juror #5 was very upset at being dismissed. From a CIVIC standpoint, I am sure she wanted to see this thing through.

However, isn’t it possible, if not probable, that she will also have some pretty significant emotional trauma from NOT being able to finish this experience as part of a group with whom she has undoubtedly formed some kind of symbiotic relationship? I cannot imagine how horrific it must be to have to look at those autopsy photos. I have not been able to bring myself to actually look at the neck wound on my little screen, let alone conceive of being forced to view it projected on those giant screens. We all have the luxury of selecting what to see as well as what to listen to, and I think we have all had to turn it off at some point, either out of anger, frustration, or simply being heartsick over the entire situation. In a way, she is in the position the family and friends of Travis have been in for almost 5 years — seeing only the horror and none of the resolution.

For those of you with special psych insights, what do you think?

    • Tracey A
      04/03/2013 at 2:20 am

I, personally, feel just terrible for what Juror #5 went through. However, she was released with NO gag order. So, once she pulls it together, and she watches what we’ve all been writing or HLN is televising…someone will get ahold of her. And once she regains her momentum, I think we will be hearing from her shortly. If I were her, I’d wanna spew!

And if HLN gets her (and they drive me nuts) they’ll have all their ducks in row for a great interview. Just please let it be Dr. Drew and not NG or JVM.

    • 04/03/2013 at 2:24 am

Inthink she nhad a lot of emotional and intellectual investment in her duty on this trial. It will take her some time to accept her sudden dismissal. She will need time to get through confusion, anger, resentment and finally acceptance. Yes, very traumatic and very real and will likely experience most of the grief cycle.

      • Tracey A
        04/03/2013 at 2:32 am

      • NancyB
        04/03/2013 at 3:00 am

Absolutely! Dr Drew’s jurors had such wonderful things to say about her. She was very focused on her job as a juror and took the most notes of any juror and they just described her as the hub of the jurors – very possibly would be the foreperson is what they surmised was possible. My heart goes out to her!

  82. Douglme
    04/03/2013 at 2:26 am

I don’t have a baseball team, but am a rabid Steelers fan. In college, my landlord was my friend Steve Grogan, who was the QB for the Patriots at the time. When he saw my Terrible Towel, he told me he was going to double my rent if I didn’t take it down! I just laughed and told him I’d been a Steelers fan longer than I had known him (which had actually been since the 9th grade) and reassured him I always cheered for the Pats — unless they were playing my Steelers.

And as for a hot dog, I am a mustard, onion girl, too, though sometimes I add relish if it looks good. Who is your team, BTW?

It’s so hard to tell these days and we, I just assume. Welcome Madam! No relish for this girl but LAD…going to the game at Dodger Stadium game tomorrow nite.

Please, no one hate on me. This is a different site. I will debate ya till the end, but someplace else, please. This site is for something completely different. And I can debate football, er, NFL with the best of you…But please, not here. This is altogether different. We only have one thing in mind here.

        Travis’s family…

So I respectfully ask, let’s debate elsewhere…not here. Thank you! If any comments come through, I will respectfully ignore them. Let’s keep going for the Alexander family. That’s what unites us.

Here’s the funny thing, as I go to bed, listening to highlights on HLN…the talking heads are comparing OJ vs CA vs JA. Only OJ was a celebrity, or so you can say. But CA and
JA were NEVER celebs. Only until they came to trial.

So let’s not lose respect for those that have gone before us: Nicole Brown Simpson, Ron Goldman, Caylee Anthony and Travis Alexander. That is all we have to debate here.

Enuf said. See ya on the other side! The Alexander side….

At first, the appeal was the looks of the killer, Not your average. But what really got me was when she took the stand. It is rare to see a defendant for murder cross examined and so I tuned in. The rest – as they say – is history.

    • 04/03/2013 at 6:08 am

I can speak for my s.o. And he does not subscribe to her storyline nor does he find her attractive nor intelligent. He thinks it is a classic story of jealousy, revenge, and happens more frequently then we know. He definitely does not buy the abused woman theory and finds her to be spooky. I have shared with him perspectives from this blog and he is more engaged in discussing this case in a more in depth fashion. Prior to this blog, his exposure to this case was from hln which he is finds irritating to say the least.
I think most men see her for what she represents and do not find her attractive in any way. In fact, she is scary and that is how some men think about this case as we both discovered by discussing this case with others.
I hope this post makes sense as it is 3a.m. And I’m not usually functional @ this time.

My husband feels pretty much the same way. He thinks she is completely unattractive even in her best photos and is a jealous crazy ass. My husband puts a great deal of responsibility on Travis tho. What I mean is that he continued to allow JA in even tho they broke up. He by no means believed Travis deserved to be murdered, he just wishes he had been more assertive.

      • 04/03/2013 at 2:24 pm

I’m assertive, and I tried to handle it like Travis did because these people do not react the same way as ‘normal’ people do. They operate WAY outside expected boundaries.

The only way to get rid of her would be to involve police and they tried that, I don’t see what else he could do not within the law anyhow.

Ok. I’m just gonna throw this out there…when OJ was accused in his murder trial, he was kept incarcerated. But in the case of Oscar Pistorious in SA, he is now allowed to travel and what not. He ADMITTEDLY killed his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp.

So, I respectfully rescind my comment “if you suck at something, why not be the best at it” with respect, or disrespect of SA. Please, SA, stand up and take a bow! We even kept OJ incarcerated. And you let this guy go on and free to travel. WTF!!!

Syn – please weigh in on this cuz you are closer than I. WTF???? That’s crazy, he should be behind bars until trial. Why such favoritism? I don’t get it.

That is a really fishy case! Going to be interesting! He actually shot her through the bathroom door. She had locked herself in there. They found her in there with two cellphones?? One had blood on it and one didn’t! Said he heard something and thought it was an intruder and got out of bed (you would have thought he might have noticed his wife wasn’t in bed with him) and he heard something in the bathroom and just started firing!
What do you think? Guilty or not?

Essem [at # 587 yesterday’s page]. Your comments surprised me. I thought that I had gone around the bend when stumbling on that thought. I have not been able to do anything but read the posts and (since writing about that particular matter [without posting]) post comments that do not apply to Mr. Alexander because I really thought I had lost it. I feel much better knowing that I was on the right track. So, I am posting what I believe to be the truth of the matter involving those pictures of little boys that Travis Alexander was looking at. This was written some time ago (when the dodgy doctor was spinning his yarn), but I did not date it, so I am unsure.

Syntara, Robert from Rotterdam, and HamSandwich: Let’s see if you can make a semblance of my belief about the manner of death. First, for Syntara — Do you think it at all possible that Jodi Arias was a sexual predator? (Remember that she has the capabilities of a Ted Bundy, but had not been able to become so because she was caught early. I likened her to a Charles Rathbun. I am going to try to see if donchais will post what I have written about the Rathbun crime. If she does, can you please review it, and please tell me if you believe that his brother assisted him with the photos during the assault on the victim, so that I can come more to terms with Matt McCartney’s role.) For anyone else that may have this thought — Do you believe that the murder has many facets? What about the “Crown of the Priesthood” (the double-knotted strings representing “the Trinity” and “the marriage covenant”) to explain that rope-like material [that is in the evidence packet]? If you don’t think so, or you believe that there is more [while feeling that the rope-like material is its own evidence for that particular part] would it be possible that the explanation for the rope-like burn around the lower abdomen area of Mr. Alexander (in the photos on the bed and the photo lying in the shower) were caused by rubber tubing used for certain S & M games [against his will]? In addition, does anyone else see the cauliflower ear on the left side and the injury around his left ear that looks as though he were cold-cocked or pistol whipped?

I am not saying that Mr. Alexander ever engaged in any S & M. As a matter of fact, the more research that I do in this case, the more it has proven out that Mr. Alexander was a virgin. He never engaged in penetration of the vagina, and it does not look as though he engaged in anal either. However, he did involve himself in self as well as mutual masturbation and possibly (but not able to prove or disprove yet) allowed her to perform oral sex on him. He never performed oral sex on her because of what was stated on that May 10, 2008 recorded phone conversation and the declarations elicited from Jodi Arias by the prosecutor during her testimony (concerning the last time she saw Mr. Alexander on June 4, 2008 [which was the only time she saw him after that tape was made]).

None of the evidence can be discarded. It all serves a useful purpose in telling an investigator what actually happened. So, even though one would like to just toss out that which does not fit in with what is the belief settled on, more effort needs to be put into the examination to understand the meaning of that [unexplainable] piece of evidence that should not be there but is there [for a reason].

This is the same for all that is shown in the record. For example, Jodi Arias has kept to the same story that Mr. Alexander was looking at pictures of little boys. She has made this particular statement whether she is giving great detail to the thought or merely expressing the thought. That has to be the truth of the matter. He had to be looking at pictures of little boys. There is one thing that prevents that from entering our minds — which is that none of us believe that Mr. Alexander is a pedophile because he does not have any porn where it should be. There is no adult porn, no kiddie porn, no porn, nothing. So, not only does the picture of Mr. Alexander looking at pictures of little boys have to compute, it must be found out exactly where he would have gotten these pictures.

If the conclusion is that he might have been looking at pictures of little boys, there would have to be a reason. So, the question would be “If Travis Alexander was looking at pictures of little boys, why would he be looking at pictures of little boys?” What then can be deduced from the evidence [of which some will not be able to be seen by the Jurors] and the testimony before the Court?

The lies Jodi Arias told when giving certain information about the pedophilia story had to be separated from the truthful statements she told in that particular story. One of the truthful statements was that Mr. Alexander was looking at pictures of little boys. This is the anchor to her story. This event [involving pictures on his bed] had to have happened in the way she described, because it was what anchored the rest of her story. In the rest of her story, much of it can be figured out to be false statements. But, there would also be truthful statements interspersed with the falsities. So, instead of ignoring the charge of looking at these pictures, one has to examine the story as though Mr. Alexander were actually looking at those pictures to see if what she alleged to be pedophilia actually was true.

Another statement that was probably true was that of a picture wafting and falling at her feet. This picture was described as that of a five or six year old boy wearing nothing but underwear. The truth of that part of her story can be seen in the way she describes the little boy in the picture — using terms like he appeared to be around sixish, and in another separate part of her testiphony (days later), she used different words to describe the picture, but with similar meaning.

Thus, to discover the truth, one must look for the reason that Mr. Alexander would be looking at these pictures, and one would have to examine where he would have gotten these pictures and what happened to these pictures — in order to prove the veracity of the statements made or the falsity of the description given. The first thing to recognize is the timing of her statement regarding an accusation of pedophilia leveled against Mr. Alexander. She made this statement only after coming up with the third version of the June 4, 2008 killing of Mr. Alexander. Her third version involved charges of physical and mental abuse that had been directed towards her by Mr. Alexander.

In certain cases of battered woman’s syndrome, child abuse or pedophilia is also involved. She must have misunderstood when pedophilia was involved, as one could tell by her story-telling she did not realize that battered women who reported pedophilia were addressing the choice of the wrong men who unbeknownst to them were eyeballing their children [to molest them] and not the women, and were merely setting up the women to get away with the child abuse of a sexual nature.

In a hard to prove domestic violence case, some facts would have to be embellished to make it appear there was actual abuse. The reason for this was because dating violence is treated in a similar fashion as domestic violence. Jodi Arias did not have to live with Mr. Alexander to use this defense so long as she could prove dating violence. Again, it is treated in a similar fashion as domestic violence, and the reasons for this type of violence can also be rooted in a desire for young children. In a situation where a woman of low self-esteem is asked to engage in a relationship, the dating may be only to get close to her children, to have time alone with them to do what they will with them.

Jodi Arias did not have children, but might have thought that (making up stories) proving the proclivity of Mr. Alexander would be enough. After all, no one who mattered (on the Jury) really would know him, since (if some one in the Jury Pool admitted knowledge of his life) they would be instantly excused from serving. Jodi Arias had a criminal lawyer being generously paid from the State’s coffers who was not restricted in [using his handsome rewards] helping her along with her defense. There would be certain things this criminal lawyer would know would get him disbarred, but he could conveniently step aside while Jodi Arias prepared the way for what had to be done to use that defense. He would just link back up with the team later, after a short stint acting as Stand-By Counsel. During this time, he would make sure she got to meet the perfect psychologist for the job — one that knew about sexual abuse, a professional that could testify about the story that Jodi Arias would be manufacturing. This would coincide with what her criminal lawyer’s specialty was — crimes of a sexual nature. Both of these licensed professionals [in the Law and in psychology] specialized and were very knowledgeable in that which would be used to bolster her defense (and the sky was the limit with the unrestricted nature of the pay-out of the taxpayers’ moneys into their ever-fattening wallets).

Since the pictures existed and Jodi Arias saw them, she would have touched them and left her fingerprints on these pictures, as well as the box they would be stored in. The reason is that it was her job to assist Mr. Alexander in choosing the pictures he would use in the book he was writing. She stated several times that he had asked her for help with the book. She also provided testimony about being perturbed that she was not mentioned in the book when she saw the draft for the first chapter. It would seem that Mr. Alexander was a kindhearted man and would not have intentionally left anyone out who had assisted him in this big step in his life. However, going to his home in the last week of January of 2008, in which her help was minimal at best would not have been enough for him to reward her with her name in his book.

She had gone to his house purportedly to ONLY help him put something back into his attic. While he did put this box back into his attic, her help was not to put this box of pictures back into the attic. Her help was necessary, with the eye of a photographer, to help him arrange the photo array. When she saw that angel and wanted it, maybe Mr. Alexander thought that was enough to pay her back for the little service she offered. He might have become more aware of her nature when she came over to help with making the choices involving the family pictures spread on his bed. He would have known that she was not that family friendly, warmhearted person he had thought her to be. It was around this time that he was becoming aware of just what she was. Thus, it would make more sense that he would have been the one to give her brochures on mental health than it would have been her that would have picked up pamphlets on pedophilia [if indeed those pamphlets were even published]. (Maybe the criminal lawyer Nurmi knows more about pamphlets for sexual deviants since that is his specialty — defending rapists, voyeurs, pornographers, and pedophiles.)

Anyway, it seems that the episode of which she related in regards to the pictures is true. However, those pictures were not and could not have been related to a charge of pedophilia because Mr. Alexander could not have had sexual contact with a child that was himself at a younger age. Additionally, even though some of the pictures were of his brothers (and sisters), there has never been a charge of incest made, and those innocent childhood pictures would not even put that thought into anyone but the sickest person’s mind.

This would be the way that particular story would be translated using an algorithm that is based on the story Jodi Arias told when using the life experience of Mr. Alexander when he was confronted by a gun-toting male who had threatened his life. That story had a female and other backdrop information. When Jodi Arias told the story about the two Ninjas in the murder scheme, it seems she used this story to relate what had happened. It is now known that the story she told about the Ninjas was untrue, because she has denied it and replaced it with the story she is now using (about the pedophilia which has taken the place of the former story) — THAT JODI ARIAS HAS ADMITTED WAS A LIE. IN ACCORD, JODI ARIAS HAS CONFESSED SHE KILLED TRAVIS ALEXANDER, except she has found a self-defense issue with the aiding and abetting of her criminal lawyer. In other words, she is using another story that has a basis of Mr. Alexander as a part of it.

When telling stories that include such magnitude, one has to be able to remember certain events related in the story. In the first story, that which helps anchor her mind is the memory of the pillow. The pillow is constantly brought up as that which Mr. Alexander had given to Jodi Arias for her use, which was an action by Mr. Alexander that would have preceeded the telling of the [action of the gun-toting person in the] story. In the second story, the action by Mr. Alexander would be the getting out of the attic and putting back into the attic that which included the angel. The angel, like the pillow, were acts of fondness she liked to think about. Like the Ninja story that had been told by Mr. Alexander, the second story involving her charge by Mr. Alexander would have come with a story. However, this would be unavailable, as it is not recorded (on video with audio), as the gun toting story was.

So, the story about the pictures spread out on the bed is true, and the story about the picture of a five or six year old boy falling at her feet is true. The rest of the story is that the pictures were pictures of Travis Alexander and his siblings. He needed to go through these pictures so that he could pick out the ones he would use in the book he was writing about his own life. He wanted people to see him, warts and all. He wanted them to know about his childhood. Yes, that was him as a five or six year old boy, wearing nothing but underwear because his mother was so drugged out or crashing from being without drugs that she did not give a rat’s ass about raising her children at that time.

The members of his own family would know this. They could prove that the pictures of those little boys were family pictures. Because they had to use their own pictures when making the display for his Memorial, they would know that you would have to spread out the pictures to view them in order to choose the one or more you wanted to use. What they might not have known is that Mr. Alexander had pictures of his own. He had put them back up in the attic of his residence. All the family would have to do is look through that box of pictures, and they would find that one particular picture where he is standing there in his underwear. They will find others along with it, like that Superman caped picture and more. Jodi Arias did tell the truth about those pictures — she just told a lie about their use.

Jad, I think you’re on to something here, which would add heavily to my creep-factor tally on this butcher. And talk about a good tip for the prosecution! Heh. 😉
We all know she used things that were true within her lies. I think your theory of the box of childhood photos makes sense. I have several in my attic.

THIS IS THE CHARLES RATHBUN CASE. CAN YOU SEE THE SIMILARITIES? CAN THIS CASE ASSIST IN LEARNING MORE ABOUT THE WAY THAT JODI ARIAS MIGHT HAVE ACTED WHEN COMMITTING HER MURDER?

Charles Edgar Rathbun, like Jodi Ann Arias, spun several different stories about his involvement in separate crimes, and his acts were very much the same as her, because of the brutality of his crime and the ever-changing tales in his story-telling. And, like his female replica, Jodi Arias, he had little experience in that which this infamous character could have accomplished, if not for being caught. After it was found out that Charles Rathbun was a psychopath, rumors flew that he was responsible for all kinds of hideous deaths. In spite of all of these rumors, other than one that is unexplainable, there was no connection. So, it could be possible that he was able to get away with one other crime [but no more than one], like that being told by Jodi Arias. Investigating the crimes, the Detectives should have been able to see that the method of operation in those other rumored crimes was not the same. (Maybe one was similar [but not the same], which was the 1992 Pandelios rape and murder that David Rademaker was involved in and sentenced to life in 2006.)

Charles Rathbun was a novice, as is Jodi Arias. Jodi Arias has told some of her cellmates or fellow prisoners that she had cut up a body of her boyfriend, which she said she put into suitcases of some sort, and then taken them out to the desert to dispose of the remains. If this is true, this would not be the case currently being prosecuted, but would be another, if distinguished through the same characteristics. That remains to be seen. So far, it appears that this psychopath was caught before she could do the damage that a person of that nature could create. This is so much like that of Charles Rathbun, that the main points of his case should be reviewed.

Charles Rathbun had disposed of some photos of Linda Sobek, who had gone missing, and a receipt for a loaned car, which had been found and kept by a road-crew worker. From this, Detectives were able to surmise Rathbun had a role in her disappearance — that turned into a case of rape and murder. He originally denied any role whatsoever, and he denied even knowing of her (saying something very uncomplimentary about blonde models in general). However, when authorities confronted Rathbun a week later about his inconsistencies and misstatements, he came up with a story that he had accidentally killed the petite young model during a photo shoot (for a borrowed 1996 Lexus SUV, contracted with Motor Week). When taking authorities to the location where he had buried her, he said her death was nothing more than a ghastly accident that happened when he accidentally ran into her with the loaned SUV. Originally, he had maintained that because of a fear that he would be charged with murder, he had driven to a desolate area and, in a panic, disposed of her body and threw her belongings in the trash. When that story didn’t work, he concocted another that explained away all of the evidence the forensics unit had discovered in the vehicle where part of the crime had been committed.

Although there were certain people who held a belief that there was evidence that proved a relationship of a sexual nature (between the murdered victim and the murdering psychopath), some of the putative evidence had been manufactured and some of the testimony provided for the benefit of the defense was perjured — and, the real evidence (the prosecutor had to ferret out) did not show what had been alleged by the criminal lawyer operating for the defense of the accused. Anyone familiar with the case of the State of California versus Charles Rathbun would remember that the victim, Linda Sobek, was accused of acting sexually and performing sex acts on the person accused of her gross rape and sadistic murder, which allegedly had been documented by the photos that had been taken by the photographer, the homicidal maniac involved in her murder, Charles Rathbun.

The photos of the young model were such compelling evidence in favor of the accused that when the sexually-explicit photos were first exposed, there were even seasoned investigators who whole-heartedly believed that the victim had willingly entered into a sexual tryst with the perpetrator shortly before her death. It took some time, but eventually this belief was discredited after forensics was able to show that some of the pictures that had been developed revealed another [look-alike] woman had posed to make it appear her body was that of the murder victim.

During his younger years, Charles Rathbun was the kind of kid who was an average student in high school with a particular knack for the arts, especially photography. Others would come to recognize this specific skill, and he was hired by many who wanted to use his talent as one of the top photographers in his field. One thing that stuck out in people’s minds (whom he had worked with) was that Rathbun would never admit anything was his fault when something went wrong with a photo shoot or any other type situation. In addition, he had a reputation for being overly flirty with the young ladies who were around. For those who recognized such shortcomings and felt uncomfortable because of his odd characteristics and strange behavior, they refused to work with him and avoided him.

Before Charles Rathbun moved away from his hometown, he had been acquitted of a rape charge after he had been arrested for raping and threatening to kill a fellow employee. He had evaded justice that time because his criminal lawyer was able to use his skills (to condemn a woman speaking out against her brutal attacker) to convince a Jury of his peers that the woman, portraying herself as a rape victim and a person in fear for her life, was a liar and the sex act with which the State had charged his client was not a rape because the act had been sex between two consenting adults. The criminal lawyer showed Charles Rathbun that he could get away with rape, but the cost must have been prohibitive [to make the rapist add murder from then on out, when going after what he wanted].

After the Trial on the rape and murder charge in the State of California, it would be reported that Charles Rathbun had been investigated as a suspect in the murder of at least one other woman who had been buried in the same location in the Angeles National Forest (where the corpse of the young murder victim had been located in a shallow grave), and another woman who lived by him who had disappeared (but had never been heard from again). It seemed that the people of the State did not want to believe that there were more monsters amongst them. So, they wanted Charles Rathbun to be guilty of the heinous crimes that could not be easily explained away.

At the Trial for the murder of the young [27 year-old], attractive, petite [5’3”] former Los Angeles Raiders cheerleader and model from Hermosa Beach, Rathbun testified that he had been drinking tequila with her, when they decided to have consensual sex during a photo shoot. Afterwards, he said she had gotten a little upset. Then, he accidentally asphyxiated her in the back seat of his rental vehicle, while trying to subdue her during the argument. [Later, on Appeal, he altered his story again and would declare she had died when he sat on her to calm her after she had a fit during a photo shoot on a dry lake bed in the desert.]

A Deputy Coroner for the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office offered a completely different version of the last few hours of her life, which was a very debasing, disgusting treatment of this lovely young lady. The Deputy Coroner testified the murder victim had been sexually assaulted before she was killed by asphyxiation. Testimony was provided that showed that after rejecting the advances of this psychopath, she was bound at the ankles and sodomized, which the prosecution theorized to have been by the killer’s .45-caliber handgun. There was a struggle that ensued between the two, in which her ankles were rubbed raw. Graphic photos of her body at autopsy were displayed that showed this condition.

Bob and Elaine Sobek and their son, Steve, attended the Trial in the County Courthouse in Torrance every day. They heard testimony that made seasoned prosecutors wince. They saw photographs [of the murder victim] who had been a living, loving family member until her life was snuffed out — these photographs were so graphic and so personal that even strangers would look away in embarrassment. Every solitary day of the Trial was spent in the Courtroom, where they would relive the greatest tragedy of their lives.

This crime occurred in 1995, and the State chose to not seek the death penalty. The prosecutor would argue the case that Charles Rathbun, as a well-known photographer established trust and then got his victim into an area where he sodomized her during a photo shoot. The photographer strangled her to conceal the fact that he had assaulted her, and the motive for the killing was to avoid detection. After he disposed of her body, he methodically lied about the crime while trying to destroy all the evidence that the two had been together. By calmly telling others that he last saw her hours, even weeks, before her death, Rathbun not only demonstrated no remorse over what he later called an accident, but also attempted to deceive everyone about what happened between the two. The prosecutor, Deputy District Attorney Steven Kay, openly cried tears of grief when he told reporters covering the story “She didn’t deserve to spend the last moments of her life on Earth being tortured at the hands of the human monster, Charles Rathbun”. The prosecutor stated that Rathbun’s actions after the young model’s brutal murder were as incriminating as the physical evidence linking him to it. Those unspeakable actions included concocting a humiliating story (for the victim and her family) that she had gotten drunk, posed nude, and willingly engaged in sexual acts before her death.

The brother of Charles Rathbun, Robert Rathbun, a criminal lawyer registered and licensed by the Bar in the State of California, said he had recovered undeveloped film, which discovery was a long time after the rape and brutal murder of the vivacious young born-again Christian model. These photographs, showing the nude torso of a woman, were presented at Trial, but those photos, presented by and linked to Rathbun’s brother, prompted an investigation into the discovery of the film because authorities in the State of California believed the photos were manufactured to provide his brother with an alibi. Robert Rathbun categorically denied that he altered the photographs that purportedly showed the nude torso of the slain model. In testimony that was pivotal to the defense of his brother, the criminal lawyer, Robert Rathbun, also tried to convince a Torrance Courtroom that he would not fabricate testimony under oath just to help his brother escape punishment for the heinous crime.

Mark J. Werksman, the criminal lawyer representing this psychopath, dismissed the prosecution’s claim that his client was a brutal killer. Instead, he did not present anything to back him up, but he ran his mouth about the evil of the prosecution when going after his innocent client. He stated emphatically that authorities with the prosecution, not only concocted evidence, but failed to prove one crucial element in their theory that the photographer strangled and sodomized the beautiful young model.

When Rathbun testified at Trial, he changed his story to fit the new facts that had been exposed. However, he still portrayed his victim as a willing participant. He made up a story about this young woman, who everyone knew rarely drank, saying she drank enough tequila to make her so heavily intoxicated it would give her almost double the rating for being drunk — because he bet her she could not do it and she took up his dare. He would not confess to pouring the alcohol mixture down her throat while she was bound and struggling so much her ankles were rubbed raw. His testimony about the use of the bondage around her ankles was to help her keep her balance. The reasoning for the 6’3”, 210 pound psychopath to sit on her back with the front of her body pinned to the seat of the SUV was to keep her calm. He asserted he just thought she was playing possum while he sat on her (but he never provided any information on the witness stand in regards to how she would have been anally raped, as though no one should believe that charge existed if he did not talk about it while talking in circles about everything else he could remember had been presented).

The Jury did not buy what the criminal lawyer for the psychopath, Mark J. Werksman, was selling, and they did not accept the dummied up photographs presented to them by another criminal lawyer (that was the brother of the psychopath). They put their faith in the prosecutor, Steve Kay, who proved that the cold-blooded nature of the psychopath’s [Rathbun’s] crime was matched by his icy disregard for what he had done and his complete lack of remorse at what he had done. The psychopath was found guilty of first-degree murder. Before pronouncing sentence, Judge Pitts acknowledged the ordeal of the family of the raped and murdered victim and evidence that Rathbun attempted for days after the brutal crimes to go on with his life as if nothing ever happened. With that, Judge Pitts read an excerpt from a probation report that recommended a life sentence [without the possibility of parole] for Rathbun. “To have so violently and completely abused another human being is unthinkable by anyone of conscience,” Deputy Probation Officer Michael Lerquier had written in his report. “To show or express no sincere remorse, or acknowledge culpability for his actions, as the defendant has done, discloses the full depth of his malevolent character.”

So sad about juror#5 but I think its yet another goof by the Judge. She probably fell over backwards trying to accomodate any Defense motion. She has allowed hearsay beyond what any Judge should even consider. Wish they had a Judge as effective as their ME or prosecutor or detectives….

Tracey A — I’ve watched the links re: WOBO’s route. Can you summarize where she messed up with the directions she gave when she was referring to the highways? I know she said she crossed into AZ twice, which was a lie, and Flores also said something about “You can’t magically end up on (road A) from (road B).” That is what has me confused. I realize she was drawing a map none of us could see, so don’t sweat it if you can’t get it, ot don’t waste to want the time on it. I’m just fooling with it to avoid listening to the trial.

    • NancyB
      04/03/2013 at 12:17 pm

Where are those links? Also she not only screwed up on the entire route when speaking with Flores but on the stand she repeatedly stated that she needed the gas because she hadn’t been on the 15 past the Ca border – but you don’t take the 15 at all to get to Mesa. From Pasadena you would only take the 15 if you were headed to Utah. Later today I’ll watch that part of the Interrogation again if you know the vid #. Thanks

I just watched JA parent’s interrogation tapes, and I believe the father, but I think the mother is lying about JA having ‘mental’ issues. I think she thought that if she told the cops that, that it would help JA. This woman is dishonest and disgusting!

    • WhereIsSHE
      04/03/2013 at 1:12 pm

I had such a different reaction. I think that unlike Jodi, her mother is crying real tears. I think her mother was sick to her stomach that anyone, let alone her child, could be capable of committing such a heinous, vicious and cruel crime and then just show up back at home without batting an eye. I think Jodi had a longstanding (since childhood) history of mental issues, most likely borderline personality disorder superimposed on sociopathy (or sociopathy superimposed on bpd–doesn’t matter really).
Jodi attacked (physically) her brother (with a frying pan), the family dog (says she “only” kicked it; sounds like she may have done away with the poor animal), kicked, etc her mother “for no reason”. She also verbally assaulted her mother on an increasingly, though intermittent, basis (according to her father). They never knew which “Jodi” they were going to get on the other end of the phone line when she called home. Sometimes the “sweet Jodi”, i.e. the fake, soft-spoken one she uses on people to get what she wants and/or to try to manipulate them and provide a false mask of who she truly is on the inside; sometimes the raging lunatic who would scream and vent.

As I set forth in a post above, I have had no sympathy for Jodi’s mother throughout the trial for the stated reasons until I saw this video. I have to admit that it did make me have some sympathy for HER. Not for Jodi, but a little bit for her mother.
Try to imagine Jodi being your child. It has to be MADDENING.

I am much more disgusted with LaViolette’s testimony than I was with Samuels? How can a Domestic Violence expert get up on in court and actually claim to know anything about the victim (Travis) when all her knowledge is coming from the self-proclaimed liar JA! It’s actually making me sick to my stomach. I wish the court reporter would get up and smack Willmot on the side of the head to clear her mind and open up here ears — how many times to we have to hear “umms” and “sorry I didn’t hear that, can you repeat it”. Jeeze Louise can we end this mind-numbing bs and get on with the trial. It’s about time the judge took control of her courtroom and stopped allowing the yahoos to run amock!

      04/03/2013 at 10:34 am

You put thoughts I was having into good form. I ridiculed Samuels and marveled at Juan’s ability to cut and slice him into little bitty pieces of turkey. But I’ve seen guys like that my whole life. They got the degree at least. Even if it was in a dated, softheaded field. And he got it at CUNY which , in the 1920’s-1960’s was a very distinguished public universit and it was selective.. They started the “open admissions” policy in the 1970’s and thats when Samuels probably eased his way through. But he’s a hack and he knows it and so he grabs the govt and non-profit racket. No really good psychologist is gonna spend his time chasing ambulances. He’s not published or referenced. He works “in the lab” so to speak

But HER? She’s a real scandal. She also got her walking boots in the 1970’s, and hatched onto the broader emerging field of women studies. She smelled a nitch where a social worker who quotes TV shows and movies and People and Time, could survive. Ok. Even that’s what a lot of people do. See an opening and take it. BUT THIS woman, by taking THIS case, just showed us all what a WOBO she is as well. She babbles on and on because she can. She could have waited until her “knowledge” could be put to use in a case of a woman truly abused in a relationship, marriage etc. WE ALL know it happens WAY too much. But no, this was too tempting. She’s got her nest egg now; she’s got a “topic” she can discuss at “seminars” and ,maybe, with a bit of luck, “Dr.Phil.”

Though Samuels gave me a headache, I sometimes got a kick out of seeing him wiggle around and try to cover his ass. He was seen for what he was. A hack. But her?
She is so full of bullshit and so full of her own inflated ego because she got some attention “in the movement” that she makes me want to..welll..I can’t even watch her, no less make fun of her.

    • 04/03/2013 at 11:06 am

The common term for this is ‘enabler’ It’s the person who encourages or excuses the addict or abuser.

In this case the whole of Alice’s testimony does exactly this. While not necessarily aware of the name of the dynamic many in here are perceiving the mechanics of it and are disgusted.

To just use a couple of quick examples to illustrate this… the drug dealer who supplies the addict, the mother who blames the abused girlfriend for ‘making’ him angry enough to hit her.

In this case, the DV ‘expert’ who reassures the abuser that in fact they are the victim and have therefore done nothing wrong, encourages her (and others) to believe the actions were justifiable.

Hello all, I tried to find answers to my questions – but I can’t seem to find them – so please – if you could reply to this question (possibly 2 questions)… I need help understanding the whole email/letter thing that the Hughes’ say are fake. He testified (day10) without the jury present to say they were fake – but Nurmi said an expert said they were “probable real” – but they aren’t admissible (correct???) but Alyce is talking about these fake emails for such a long time. Does the jury know – yet- that they are fake – or will that possibly come from Juan??? Please help me get a better understanding of these items. Thanks so much. 🙂

    • 04/03/2013 at 10:25 am

There are two sets of emails/letters One being the fake paedophile references the other being the emails to WOBO intended to make her cut ties with Travis. You may be confusing the two as being the same? Or am I just not clear what you are asking?

      • 04/03/2013 at 10:36 am

I understand the pedophile letters are fake – I am talking about the email that Alyce is refering to yesterday that Juan keeps objecting to and she can’t say the exact words on the email – Wilmott keeps having to say “your impressions”. I don’t understand how these are allowed if they aren’t allowed?????

      • NancyB
        04/03/2013 at 12:40 pm

Alison – I love the part of your comment where you said that you don’t understand how this testiphony is allowed when the letters were ruled not admissible ! Join the club. I truly believe that the judge should not have allowed any of this testipnony. Supposedly, she’s not allowed to directly quote from some of these emails but she is allowed to summarize their content.

Jodi LIED to Sky & Chris Hughes and through the email correspondence between them and Travis some of her lies I think came out. Nurmi also lied/misled them. The Hughes very very early on came to know the real Jodi and despised her. They repeatedly tried to warn Travis to disassociate from her totally.

As Jodi always has done she went to Sky’s home unannounced to confront her. Sky told her off and very directly told her what they thought of her (POS) and told her to get out of her home immediately and that she would never be welcome in their home. This went on for 15 minutes. Sky left the kitchen and a friend of Sky’s was making Sky’s kids lunch. Jodi just sat there! Unbelievable! She had just been told to leave immediately but she continued to sit there for another 15 minutes before she finally got up and left.

Both Hughes are listed on the prosecution’s rebuttal witness list so we think that JM will put Sky on the stand and may even admit some of the letters into evidence (defense opened the door) but one way or the other he will turn all this hearsay and bull crap around. That’s the best I can do to explain this.

I have always thought the mom and aunt had acted inappropriate in court – laughing and such. But after seeing the mom’s tape – I wonder. Maybe it’s not out of disrespect for TA and family – maybe it’s out of anger , shame etc that they have to sit there and act all supportive when they know JA is guilty . She obviously knows that her daughter was capable of such a heinous act and then to have to listen to the abuse allegations etc, and the ribbons – probably told to do so from the legal duo. What do you think ?

    • 04/03/2013 at 11:12 am

This is what I’ve posted elsewhere.

      April 3, 2013 at 10:47 pm

Yes I believe the parents responses are genuine at the time. They are in shock and trying to process the enormity of what they are being told. Dreadful situation. Also believe what we see now is the mother’s coping mechanism. Partially she doesn’t know how to react, not in a psychopathic way as in lacking the ability to, but in a traumatised way.

The enormity of what she is faced with causes a detached disassociative response, almost dazed. Now that I have seen the interrogation clip it puts a different perspective on her behaviour, but she needs therapy because blocking it out and dealing with it in the manner she is can manifest all kinds of emotional and psychological problems.

      • NancyB
        04/03/2013 at 12:54 pm

You are both kinder in explaining/excusing their behavior then I am. I maintain that her behavior has been abhorrent in court and that Mama Sandy doesn’t have even a smidgen of class. Yukking it up when the Alexander’s were listening to heartbreaking and graphic testimony about Travis’ death & autopsy results. Unforgivable, sorry. Then throw in her antics with the N’tl Enquirer and all the crapola in the court room and that’s why I have zero respect for her or empathy for what she’s going through. Sorry, that’s just me. I will always stand with the victims family and she has gone out of her way to basically rub all this pain in their faces as far as I am concerned.

She just LOVED that testiphony! We did not see it but Beth Karas reported that when she came out of the judges chambers that she was widely smiling from ear to ear as was Nurmi. Blech.

I found myself so annoyed and exhausted after yesterday’s trying trial. The build up of anticipation all morning and then the drone drone drone of AL (the man hater).
Thank you, Donchais for having the courage and stamina that you do!

It’s not surprising that the big oaf and JW are using the same tactics that baez did. This just shows that they don’t have the creditionals or the ability to try this case on their own merits. total corruption. Shame on them.

1.0 out of 5 stars Hypocritical Unethical Author (LaViolette)
LaViolette claims to be a life-long career advocate for victims of domestic violence, yet she offers her costly “expert witness” testimony to defend a well-documented dangerous, unbalanced & aggressive stalker (Jodi Arias), who inflicted terroristic acts upon her victim (Travis Alexander) prior to savagely slaughtering him.

    Instead of maintaining her “practice”…

I was just looking at that! Plus look at the price of the book!!

    • 04/03/2013 at 12:51 pm

Instead of maintaining her “practice” where she could’ve been of great service to actual & true victims of DV, LaViolette chose to bilk & pocket thousands of Arizona tax-payers dollars to testify in favor of a PROVEN PATHOLOGICAL LIAR, ABUSER & COLD-BLOODED, PREMEDITATING MURDERER.

If you are a victim of Domestic Violence, I urge to to please seek appropriate & immediate help from an ethical, irrefutable source who will NOT sell you out just to make a few extra retirement bucks, as Ms. LaViolette has unfortunately done.

Donavon can’t legally be stopped from visiting, communicating with, or making comments about Jodi, because Jodi is not yet a convicted felon. Once Jodi does become a convicted felon, it’s a whole different ballgame as to Bering’s association with Arias. The clock is ticking, Bering. Enjoy the short time you have left communicating with your murderess friend.

Donavon Bering is a convicted felon, she has lost her civil rights. Any law enforcement agent has the right to search her home or vehicle, without notice, without permission, or without a warrant. She can’t vote, carry a firearm, leave the state without court permission, associate with other convicted felons, can be made to submit to daily drug testing without notice, can’t get a security clearance, is barred from working at many jobs because of her felony conviction, etc.. Bering’s crime? She set a building on fire and while there were people inside. How sick is that?

Here’s a thought. Perky has had AL on the stand for so long with no signs of letting up. They’re only to Dec 2007 right? I fear we are nowhere near the end of this witness.

Juan’s gonna dissect her like because Perky has given way too much to work with and he has that right.

Then back to Perky….then jury questions….then recross (I might be a bit out of order) but I think this witness is going to be up there much longer than we all expect. ****heavy sigh****.:(

  150. WhereIsSHE
    04/03/2013 at 1:30 pm

They are having their “experts” repeat and repeat Jodi’s stories, because they believe it will make Jodi seem more credible, i.e. since she told the same stories (lies) to these people that she told to the jury.
The problem is: the jury appears to believe that Jodi is lying about the pedo stuff, the abuse, etc, and so having these witnesses repeat it just completely destroys any possible credibility they might otherwise have had with the jury.

It is just too unbelievable that a woman would catch her bf/former bf masturbating to a photo of a young boy, have such a visceral response that she vomits, but then just go back the next day and be Miss La-Dee-Dahhh. If you had that kind of visceral response to such digusting behavior, it would endure.

    This is just a joke.
Her opinions about this case REQUIRE anyone believing her to believe that Jodi is telling the truth about the alleged abuse (and on her superimposition of Jodi’s propensity for veracity, which is almost entirely non-existent, on Jodi’s diary entries, a few emails and text messages).

There is such flagrant BIAS in her testimony that no one could find her opinions about this case credible.

Ms. Laviolette is a typical 1970’s man hater. Nothing particularly unusual about that. However, she portrays herself as a pioneer in the world of domestic violence. Nothing could be further from the truth. She has made no innovations, no meaningful research, and does not follow peer reviewed, evidence based practice. She does exactly what mental health professionals are NOT supposed to do: make it up as you go.

    Part 2 of review:

She seems to have no need for research or meaningful continuing education. She seems to think she already knows it all. She wouldn’t dream of leaving her comfort zone/cash cow she has constructed. Her work is completely subjective and opinion based. If she were current on therapeutic approaches, she wouldn’t be defining people by and obsessing over the abuse aspect of their lives. Disgraceful woman. She’s currently being paid 300$ an hour to blatantly lie for murderer Jodi Arias.

LaViolette clearly thinks any woman who claims abuse must be telling the truth. For a price she will testify to that in a court of law. Does she look for independant corrobortive evidence? Hell No Now a guy who was clearly a player can in death be rubberstamped as a woman batterer courtesy of Ms LaVilolette’s interpretaions of cherry picked emails and the word of a true psycopath and established liar.

I’ve finally reached MY breaking point and have to turn the volume down during AL’s load of crap. I’ve heard her described at least 2 different acts of animal cruelty. WTH is she describing a frog in boiling water???? WHY IS THIS RELEVANT????

Thanks for that AL! Another horrible image I won’t be able to erase from my memory!!!!

And seeing JA looking like she’s about to burst into tears…F**K YOU!

From an old Huff Post article on a time of the case:August 8, 2011 – Arias told Judge Sherry Stephens of Maricopa County Superior Court that she wanted to represent herself. Stephens granted the request but had Arias’ public defenders, Victoria Washington and Kirk Nurmi, remain on as advisory counsel.

August 16, 2011 – A request to admit letters that Arias claimed Alexander sent her prior to his death was denied. In the letters, Alexander allegedly admitted to being a pedophile. Prosecutor Juan Martinez told the court that the letters were tested and found to be forgeries. After the ruling, Arias told Judge Stephens that she was “over her head.” The judge then reinstated her defense counsel.

Arias’ third story about Alexander’s death was detailed in court documents as part of the request that she made to admit electronic copies of Alexander’s alleged letters.

“Defendant had previously attributed the crime to intruders. She now argues that all of the letters must be admitted to support her domestic violence defense,” prosecutors wrote in a motion to preclude the letters. “Defendant argues that the letters are relevant to her claim of self-defense and that she was a victim of previous ‘sexual and physical abuse’ by Mr. Alexander.”

Arias, according to prosecutors, claimed that Alexander “became angry when she dropped his camera” and that she was forced to kill him in self-defense.

December 16, 2011 – Washington filed a motion to withdraw from Arias’ defense.

    December 21, 2011 – Washington’s motion was granted.

IMO, the reason she requested to be permitted to represent herself was that she tried, in vain, to get her then-assigned counsel to have the forged letters admitted and they must have refused. Jodi then took it upon herself to a) represent herself so that she could b) try to get the forged letters admitted.

      FAIL.

As a victim of Domestic Violence, with the broken bones, trauma, protective orders, etc., all in my past to prove it, don’t spend a dime on this self serving BS. This “Expert”, as she calls herself, has done incredible damage to the very term “Domestic Violence”. What took decades to be recognized as a horrific and, sometimes, deadly situation, for both MEN and WOMEN who have been abused, La Violette has turned the clock back. Her general hatred towards men is apparent. If you are a victim of Domestic Violence, call your local DV hotline, call Law Enforcement, do anything but spend your hard earned money on this piece of biased garbage. Try “Co-Dependent No More”…it may help you get back on the path to normalcy. For the right amount of money, currently $250-$300, La Violette will say ANYTHING you want her to say. Shame on her

Cannot imagine ALV testimony when she gets to 6.4.2008. That may be the only time she will be at a loss for words. I also wonder If she will sit facing the jury when Juan has his go at her.

Oh! I dont think so. Same with Dodgy doc and the defendant. On direct they would swival over and talk to the jury–that whole personal touch. As soon as the Juanster starts, they can’t move their neck; he has a question before they get a chance to think, much less swival.

This individual, due to her testimony in the Arias trial, has, in my opinion, relinquished any semblance of credibility she ever had in regard to this issue of domestic abuse against women. She has come across more like an Arias surrogate than an expert in the field of domestic violence, and I am amazed at how easily she is willing to sabotage her supposed credentials to make a buck. You can only surmise that she is a fraud, or perhaps someone with a serious axe to grind to stoop this low to contribute to the character assassination of a human being, who has already been murdered 3 times over by an obviously deranged psychopath. Domestic violence is a serious problem, not only in America, but worldwide, and to have it trivialized in this fashion is despicable. And to have someone that is supposed to be, not only an analysis, but an activist, contributing to this charade is beyond comprehension.

Please let this charlatan know you will not tolerate this abuse of trust by NOT buying or supporting her work.

More key procedural history from the Huff Post article:

December 27, 2011 – Arias’ younger sister, Angela Arias, said that her sister’s statements during the “48 Hours” interview were lies and that Alexander’s death was an act of self-defense on her sister’s part during an incidence of domestic violence.

“She was not under oath when she spoke on TV and yes, she lied,” Angela Arias wrote on Facebook after The Huffington Post sent her a request for comment. “But, it was because she was so in love with that man she did not want people to know what a monster he really was. She wanted everyone to believe that he was as amazing as they thought he was … My sister is innocent of the crime they are accusing her of … She did kill Travis but it was not in cold blood, it was not for revenge, it was because she was afraid for her life.”

January 2012 – Jennifer Willmott, a death penalty-qualified defense attorney, was assigned to represent Arias.

    ***
I think the above is why JM started his cross examination of Jodi with the photo of her “STUPID” sister, Angela.

I think JM was sending a clear message to Jodi with that first line of questioning about her “stupid sister, Angela”.
He was letting HER know that HE knew that she THINKS she is smarter than everyone else and can easily trick people into believing her lies, but that HE had her number, and he was going to be the one IN CONTROL.
She fought hard for days– like a strong, frantic fish on the end of a long line… but eventually, JM kept reeling her in… letting her out, reeling her in, reeling her in…

Through his cross of Dr. Fog, he was pulling her into his boat…

Cross of AL, removing his hook (hopefully).

Rebuttal case, closing argument, –giving the jury the evidence to put her in ice (i.e. take away her freedom) (hopefully).

        Closing argument

Poor TA. He tried so hard to help JA. Tried to get her interested in the Morman religion. Tried to see the good in her, even after being warned by friends that JA is just off. I would bet that TA was working on his book the same time she says she saw a pic of a little boy. He wasn’t masterbating! She was so angry that he dedicated the book to someone else and gave kudo’s to someone else. Pure evil. This is just beyond disgusting. It tears at our core values.

I often think this. He seemed like such a sweet guy. I spoke with my longtime best friend about this case. We each agreed that each of us had been brought to near ruin through hte years, by the involvement with a woman where sex was the driving force and we had lost our
sense of balance and rationality. We learned. We all do. It takes a few months or a few weeks, or maybe a few years, but we get away from the destructive manipulation of our desires. He had thenormal route and, you know, he learned. deep down he knew, He would not have been an honest man – to himself – if he hadn’t followed what was screamiong for him to follow. He did grow. Does anyone in their right mind believe that Jodi wasn’t FURIOUS that Travis was so interested in Mimi??! What woman who is still having sex with a guy she was so in love with is “happy” for the guy when he falls in love with another woman????? And if Jodi “didn’t want to get in the way” as Alyce says, WHY, ON EARTH, did she keep calling him, texting him, emailing him, making plans to spend time with him, and then DRIVE ALL THE WAY DOWN THE CALI COAST TO BORROW GAS GANS AND THEN DRIVE ALL THE WAY “ACROSS THE DESERT” JUST TO SEE HIM??????!

    *eyeroll*

        04/03/2013 at 2:36 pm

Well, yes. Obviously THAT proves it.
But I mean… even if she hadn’t done the crime, and she was just some coworker talking to you at the water cooler about her “love” life and told you that the guy she was obsessively in love with (according to her own journal she was clearly OBSESSED with Travis) was now “in-love” with a new woman (but still taking booty-calls with the co-worker), and then she told you she was “happy!” for him.. wouldn’t you just KNOW, with every fiber of your being, that this co-worker was LYING THROUGH HER TEETH????

I mean… COMMON SENSE tells you that “something aint right” with this picture/this person.

The more they try to harp on Jodi having NO JEALOUSY, the more they highlight the complete absurdity of it.

AH! Now –no jealousy over him being in love with Mimi– but she and Travis as “calling each other loving names” per JA’s journal.

Yeah. She’s really stepping aside so that Travis could be happy with Mimi.
        MmmmHmmmmmmmmm…

It’s not about love for WOBO, it’s about possession and control. She was FURIOUS she couldn’t control him and he wasn’t interested in her. That’s what the sexual seduction was about, controlling him. Nothing, nothing to do with love as we know it.

She is so full of it, she probably needs an almighty dump! (Which will probably take her at the very least thru tomorrow morning)

And to think all the times I ignored, cheated on, lied to when it was obvious and avoided to a fault in my sincere attempt to end a one night stand, past its move on date or whatever relationship with the woman being able to say she broke up with me, not the other way around was, as defined by Alyce LaViolette, yet another classic case of a man behaving badly and I should have made sure all of my affairs were and in order and prepared for a well deserved painful death for being so abusive to one of her kind.

I think it was Robert in Rotterdam who mentioned AL had a previous engagement on April 5. Could this be a ploy so she can attend? NOTE TO AL – Read your reviews posted upstairs or on Amazon before you go to your previous engagement. Based on what we’ve seen and read NO ONE WILL BE IN ATTENDANCE EXCEPT YOU!!!

    I’m just SICK!
