      4 possible reasons, inter-related:
      1. Arrested for Extreme DUI – problematic for a juror hearing a case to have an alcohol saturated brain.
      2. Told the arresting officer he was on the jury- that in direct contradiction to the judge’s admonition not o discuss the case with others
      3. The DUI case is under the jurisdiction of Juan Martinez’s office – a potential conflict of interest.
      4. The Gods of Trial are punishing Martinez for the misguided decision to allow in the BPD diagnosis testimony.

Well after po’ Jury number 8 having to listen to butt Numbing (Nurmi) he had to go out and drink himself back to sanity. He sort of got busted doing so.

Hi everyone! I have a few questions because I’m learning about new things pertaining to the murder.I love this site btw and you all have some great theories and information on here. This has become my morning newspaper 🙂

Anyways, I was reading about the 2 sd card ordeal. Someone mentioned the sex pics possibly being from another day but the dates on the camera manipulated by Jodi. I thought of that poss too however, my only question was, did she have darker hair at any other point of their relationship or always blonde?

Next, I was wondering what everyone is talking about when they say the hard drive on the computer was destroyed? Did Jodi do it?

Did any one of the roommates see Jodi arrive that morning or speak with Travis at any point where he mentioned he didn’t know she was coming? Was the broken screen ever investigated??

I agree about the dog not barking and freaking as dogs have instinct and this was his owner who was murdered and dead. I’m shocked he didn’t bark and bark trying to let someone know something was off.. I know my dog def would. And I’m sorry but dog poo and pee DOES NOT come close to the odor of a dead man rotting in a damp shower for 5 days! That baffles me to no end.

What picture is everyone referring to when they say the pic of her slicing his throat? I have never seen that one? Only the dragging of the body. Anyone have a link to this picture?

And lastly, I was curious as to what you guys think of that close up pic of Travis right before his death? What do you think of his facial expression? To me he looks nervous or startled. Was wondering what others thought.

Sorry so long..i have so many questions and love discussing this case. My family and friends are ready to confiscate all electronic/tv devices, newspapers, magazines …lol thanks for listening 🙂

      Good morning Bailey and everyone!
I just eanted to discuss some of your statements above. I think she was trying to put together a smear Travis story with the second sd card. The pics of her with dark hair and braids was taken June 4, with the camera timer, but the ones of a naked Travis and ky I do not think were. In some part of the forensic testimony the guy said some pics had time stamps some did not. She intended to destroy Travis on June 4 in every way

      • 04/30/2013 at 8:54 am

😳 Have no idea how that ^ happened. Was trying to reply on my tablet and my reply disappeared, lol, got on my pc and typed the reply again then that shows up. Dang maybe I should give up and just have some more coffee. sheesh.

    • 04/30/2013 at 8:50 am

Hello Bailey and everyone. Good morning!
I wanted to talk a little about my theory of the sd cards. My theory is that HoHO was trying to make it look like she and Travis had sex that day. I do not know if this was for her own personal enjoyment or to smear Travis later. Some of the pics according to the expert had date stamps and some did not. I think she took the gawd awful nude pics of herself with the camera on a timer some time that day. The nudes of Travis I think were taken at some other point. (I am actually thinking they may have been timer pics that he had taken of himself before and sent to her by phone. To go along with phone sex maybe?)
She was building a fantasy that day with the sd card because I do not even think Travis knew she was in his house. She took the shower pics to add to this fantasy then revealed her presence and started stabbing. When she reviewed the pics after Travis was dead and realized there were those pics of the murder she had to give up and try to delete and destroy the sd cards and the camera.

        04/30/2013 at 9:24 am

I agree that the two cards point to pics as part of her manipulation of the facts, but what’s bothered me is that she went to such great lengths to cover her tracks leading to and away from Travis (gas cans, cell phone, voice message after the murder), that I don’t think she intended to leave those images behind. I tend to think she wanted them as either souvenirs or as a back up alibi in case she was ever arrested–she could show she had been invited. But in the chaos of the murder and rushed clean up, lost track of the card or thought it was destroyed in the washer….actually I have no idea. It’s so convoluted.

Bailey good, I don’t remember any of the room mates saying that they had seen JA, in fact I’m pretty sure no one had seen her. But one of the roomies did say that he spoke to Travis on the morning of June 4th and he remembered Travis saying that he hadn’t gotten much sleep the night before. (I believe I read this in Detective Flores investigation report)

Morning All. I haven’t had a chance to read through the comments from the last section yet, but I’m sure this has come up already. I just want to say that I will be joining Travis’ family fasting on Sunday May 5th. I will try to pray also, but I have lost my faith ever since my mom passed away over 8 years ago. So it has been hard for me to believe, but I am willing to set aside my feelings for the sake of Travis and his family, so they can find justice, and eventually peace.

I kinda feel the same way since I lost my Mum 7 years ago plus it is also the anniv. of my dad’s death, I will try to fast, but will have to drink so I don’t get a migraine. I will also try and pray as well because I so want the Alexander family as well as Travis to get the peace and justice they so deserve.

      04/30/2013 at 10:13 am

My theory about the 9mm was to go after the Hughes, or Mimi!! Just a thought.

      • 04/30/2013 at 10:19 am

I agree Janeto that the gun was to go after someone, my thoughts were maybe someone who knew too much about what she was up to and her plans on that trip… Gus? Mat? Darryl?
        😕

    • kCruz123
      04/30/2013 at 10:42 am

I wonder if it could be Matt and Darryl? Last night when I heard the tape of Detective Flores questioning JA’s dad and he said that JA had told him that she was only going away for 3 days. As he was helping her pack she said something like ‘that is for Matt and that is for Darryl” which I think I remember reading somewhere that she said she had books and household items to take to them but it really made me wonder if maybe she meant it more menacingly, maybe even meaning the knife was FOR Matt and the gun was FOR Darryl. Just a thought.

      • 04/30/2013 at 10:53 am

Yeah! Matt would be my 1st choice!

      • Carolyn
        04/30/2013 at 12:42 pm

I don’t recall if the jury got to hear about the 9mm and the knives. JA gave some story abt going camping with a bunch of guys (lie) and wanted gun for protection. I don’t think she had a grudge against any of her old boyfriends. Obviously she got a thrill out of shooting the 25 mm but she wanted a more powerful gun, one that would have greater “kill power”. A person with her personality and psycho tendencies should never be able to buy/own a gun. I think she intended to use it on someone as she probably felt she got away with murdering TA and could do it again and get away with it.

    • 04/30/2013 at 10:27 am

I was seriously into this case before the Arias trial started. Now it is so in the back seat ha ha. Very interesting case and there may be even more spectators emotional vested in this one than even the Arias trial if that is possible. The debate threads on the Zimmerman case get down right scary at times.

      • MMD
        04/30/2013 at 10:38 am

when you bring race, guns, and death together I can guaranty that it is gonna divide the country. If Zimmerman had listened to the 911 operator and stayed put, this case wouldn’t even be taking place. imho

      • kCruz123
        04/30/2013 at 10:49 am

Yes, it is surely going to be a very divisive trial. I want justice, always but I don’t want the country to be up in arms. Even today, in a pre-trial hearing the words are heated. I read that jury notices for over 500 people will be mailed.

      • janeto
        04/30/2013 at 11:04 am

I totally agree MMD! If he would have just sat & waited till cops got there! Shame…

      • 04/30/2013 at 5:39 pm

I totally believe Zimmerman acted in self-defense. I carry a concealed weapon. Zimmerman’s actions seem very reasonable to me. Don’t forget how the media distorted so many things at the beginning of this story. I have listened to the entire un-edited version of the 911 tape several times and it’s clear that Zimmerman DID listen to the 911 operator’s advise to quit pursuing Trayvon. At the end of the 911 call, Zimmerman is just coordinating where he will meet the police and letting them know he has completely lost Trayvon. From the time Zimmerman hung up til the time police arrived, no one knows 100% what happened. Zimmerman says Trayvon came at him and said something like, “why are you following me?” The 6’+, 200lb+ Trayvon straddled the 5’9″ Zimmerman and started beating him, slamming his head on the concrete and punching his face. Audio experts have confirmed it is Zimmerman’s voice screaming for help on the other 911 calls. He had no choice but to act in self defense and shoot his attacker. The distance of the gunshot is consistent with the distance of Trayvon straddling Zimmerman.
Please don’t let the media, with their continued portrayals of Trayvon’s picture from when he was a 10yr old child sway you. Is there a more lethal age than when a man is about 20, strong, impulsive, and most dangerous? The media doesn’t show you those pics of Trayvon. Trayvon the threat. Some have asked why Zimmerman didn’t just wait for the cops? That’s what he was doing. Why didn’t Trayvon just keep walking back to his dad’s house instead of confronting Zimmerman?

  10. kCruz123
    04/30/2013 at 10:01 am

Yes Judge Nelson is the trial judge. Zimmerman declined to have a pre-trial hearing (the ‘Stand your Ground Hearing’ or the immunity hearing).

      • 04/30/2013 at 12:04 pm

Wow listening to this hearing Zimms defense whines more than JA’s if that is possible. Sheesh

  12. ringadingding
    04/30/2013 at 10:16 am

Now the car parking is bugging me. On the previous thread, posters were wondering if JA ever mentioned where she parked. I apologize if this has already been covered and it’s too basic, but I’m assuming that’s why she did not want to rent a red car–it would be more memorable and noticeable wherever she parked it. If I saw a new car parked in my neighborhood, I’d be more likely to take note if it were red. She wouldn’t care if someone saw a red rental car on the freeway in the middle of the night….but she would sure worry about one parked in a neighborhood where it didn’t belong.

    • kCruz123
      04/30/2013 at 10:34 am

Hi and good morning. I can’t tell you where you can find this on any of the tapes but according to this article Jodi says

“It was still dark but it was early morning … I parked it in the same spot I always parked when I went to his house — which was the center spot in the driveway,”

      http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/02/19/jodi-arias-testimony-about-day-of-murder_n_2720749.html

and I found it also on the HLN website, dated March 21 time was 4:43 p.m. ET.

      • 04/30/2013 at 11:09 am

ooh thanks for that kCruz. I had been thinking I was recalling in her testimony that she had stated she parked on the street a little ways from the house. Can’t even recall now where I got that notion ha ha.

No that starts tomr at 9AM – today there is a closed hearing about the defense’s new motion to allow Dr Geffner to challengenot just Dr DeMarte’s testimony but also the ME Dr Horne’s testimony.

      • 04/30/2013 at 11:02 am

NancyB….forgive my ingnorance….but I thought the surrebuttal tomorrow was about Dr. Geffner challenging Dr. D’s testimony? Why is there a hearing about it today? Or are there other witnesses testifying too? Thx

      • truejustice
        04/30/2013 at 12:53 pm

I dont think Geffner will be disputing ME testimony he doesn’t have any qualifications as an ME that I know of.

    • NancyB
      04/30/2013 at 11:48 am

WTJ – Yes sur-rebuttal tomr will include Dr Geffner’s attempt to refute Dr DeMarte’s MMPI results & Dx. of BPD. BUT yesterday the defense filed a new motion; which is why they are having a closed hearing today. The gist of this motion is that they want Dr Geffner to also refute Dr Horne’s testimony. I don’t know why this would be allowed because Dr Horne did not offer any *new* opinions in his testimony during rebuttal, rather he just repeated the testimony he gave on Jan 8th during the case in chief. I also do not think that a MD pathologist (specialty area) medical examiner is in any way equivalent to a PhD neuropsychologist (specialty area). If the defense could have found any reputable ME to refute Dr Horne’s testimony then they would have included it in their CIC and the fact that they didn’t have one speaks volumes. I will be very aggravated if Judge Stephens allows any part of allowing Geffner to discuss Horne’s testimony.

      • 04/30/2013 at 12:09 pm

Oh oh I see. This latest motion is separate from that! Got it! Thank you, my dear! I’ve learned so much from your postings, and I’m forever grateful!

        04/30/2013 at 1:16 pm

The defense would be stupid to attempt to have Geffner refute ME testimony. imo it would be a lot better for them to talk about battered women syndrome and Dr D’s assessment since that IS his specialty. His neuro specialty may give him credibility re: live patient/brain injury but TA is not alive to access and read brain scans on. Once he starts talking about medical pathology information I think he opens the door wide open for Juan to discredit his testimony.

      • Kathy A.
        04/30/2013 at 1:25 pm

For such a high-profile case, I half-expected to see the defense present it’s own ME in the form of Michael Baden, Henry Lee, Cyril Wecht, or one of the other “celebrity” Medical Examiners who seem to be part of every other notorious case. Guess even they weren’t willing to believe JA’s ridiculous version of events.

      • 04/30/2013 at 5:04 pm

Just asking, but has this Dr.Geffner evaluated Jodi or talked to her at any length? How can he refute Dr. Demarte’s testimony when he hasn’t spent time with Jodi?

      • 05/01/2013 at 12:47 am

I say let him talk about Dr. Horne’s testimony..he’s out of his area of expertise so Juan can tear him up and shred him to pieces. Let the DT look bad once again. The jury will see their grasping at straws and that Geffner is out of his league. I trust in Juan to discredit this guy too. GO JUAN BABY!!

Good morning all 🙂 Just spent some time reading over the last thread, and I would like to say this: I am an American, and at NO time have I ever sensed any US bashing from anyone here. I think something went horribly awry, and was oddly misinterpreted. This trial has received as much, or more media coverage than the Casey Anthony trial. For those of us that followed the CA trial, and invested emotionally in the tragic death of that little girl, the verdict was gut wrenching. It shook my faith in our system (temporarily). The DT in that trial painted fiction with extremely broad strokes- the defense based their case on the words of a narcissistic, pathological liar – suddenly CA’s father was a pedophile, her brother was guilty of incest, etc, ect. The Defense won, by lying and unproven accusations. That to me, is a travesty to true justice.

The defense team in this trial has based their case on the words of a narcissistic, pathological liar. For months we’ve watched and listened to Travis Alexander be accused of being an abusive, controlling, sexual deviant, and worst of all (IMO) a pedophile, this was brought in, without one piece of physical evidence to substantiate to claims. Suddenly, the VICTIM is on trial.

I understand that even Jodi Arias deserves a “rigorous defense”- but should that mean that it’s justifiable that in doing this, an entire defense can be based on completely unsubstantiated accusations? Meanwhile, the prosecution is NOT allowed to bring into evidence ACTUAL FACTS and EVIDENCE, because the FACTS are prejudicial to the defendant?

I believe we all have the right to question the system, because that is how positive change takes root.

Hi FOL. I’m not a US citizen, and at times, I’m not crazy about the US justice system. But we can’t overlook the times the system works! More so than not! We tend to let a few high profile cases overshadow the cases were justice is sought….and given! I say Hear, Hear, my dear!

well I’m one & Ive been intwined in it a half dozen or so times and though I appreciatde the ideals, the practicalities give ya the shivers. Systems in the EuroUnion are differe As we’ve mentioned here, the more people can see how the damn thing actually works, the more they can see where to improve or change or monitor. Statistics say that there will be success. But at what cost? And to whom? The stupidity of juries and the courruption or mediocrity of judges and lawyers has never been placed out in to the sunshine. I think every transcript should be avilable to anyone of the public. Try getting onein CA.. Even when I’m involved, Ive had to search down the gd court reporter and pay for a copy of a section. Ever face some of the longtime court employees who talk to you and treat you like YOUR a problem? Too much of it is unnecessary; too uch of it is prolonged for money and custom; too much tax money is spent after most of the crap is done. A Judicail Review Board – not of judges and lawyers but of administratives and scholars and members of the public should have more say.

There are about a million lawyers in the USA and about a million college level teachers. Education – as sloppy as it is – is at lease inclusive of a lot of people. The courts, uh -uh.

    • Laine
      04/30/2013 at 12:50 pm

Agreed…I am also very aware this system was based on the UK justice system many years ago! NO justice system is perfect…I happen to think the UK system has many flaws!! But all we can hope is that as knowledge improves and time and cases go forward the sytem is reviewed and approved as and where it can be. I’m sure no offense was meant or taken.

      • 04/30/2013 at 9:08 pm

Do you know how expensive a transcript is?? The court reporters are like independent contractors and you have to deal directly with that person and pay their rate. The cost of a full-day transcript is easily around $1000. Believe me…I know. Anyone want a copy of the ten or so different hearing transcripts I have from my case? I don’t charge.

    • 04/30/2013 at 5:45 pm

I totally agree.. I don’t feel like the DT should be able to throw out inflammatory statements that they cannot prove. With the Casey Anthony trial I remember I could hardly wait for opening statements to hear exactly how this team was gonna defend such a liar. When Biaz stood up & gave their theory I bout fell out of my chair. Thinking ok they must have something on GA. Not a stinking thing. Now this trial.. even worse! IMO they have offered up zero evidence to even be able to suggest such bull spit. Heart breaking. I pray daily that this jury is brighter than the CA jury. They need to find justice for Travis.

      Dear God:
Please grant this jury Common Sense!

I bet Jodi took the pedophile idea from the Casey Anthony case. She probably thought it worked for CA so why not her too. Another coincidence..both girls had 3 different stories of what happened. Hmmm.

It’s not bad. It’s about a couple of homicide cops in Vancouver but they start the show letting you know who the killer is and who the victim is. We’re on the last couple of episodes here now and I’ve watched them all. I enjoyed it. It is ex pr by the people behind Dexter, which I love, but it’s nothing like Dexter. Good summer show.

I came in late to the case. I know MM is an old boyfriend – from where and what role does he play? Did he testify? Why does he know too much? Was he a friend of Travis’ as well?

    • Family of Law
      04/30/2013 at 12:18 pm

Oh geez! There’s SO much about MM, where to start? How about a highlight reel?
      1. Ex boyfriend (that go figure…cheated on JA) they became like “brother and sister”
      2. She visited him on her “road trip” (was possibly given money by him- and it’s suspect that he may have been helpful in her planning)
      3. He IS loyal to her “Matt would never betray me” – it’s possible that he was the one who forged the “pedophilia letters” that JA tried to get submitted into evidence, but a handwriting expert deemed them to be forged.
      4. He did NOT testify- both sides considered him to volatile of a witness- ie: if he lied to protect JA, Juan would have ripped him to shreads (and likely would have cause to file perjury charges that would stick) – and if the State called him to the stand, they risked the jury hearing his lies.
There’s SO much more about MM- the extent of his involvement will probably never be known in full.

      • 04/30/2013 at 12:23 pm

And the mag codes I believe were meant for MM also

It’s about Deputy U.S. Marshall Raylan Givens who is sent back to his native Kentucky. It is based on books by Elmore Leonard and is awesome. There are really 2 main characters played by Timothy Olyphant and Walton Goggins. It is really a character driven show.

Matt McCartney was Bobby Suarez’ best friend. After JA found out Bobby was cheating on her she moved over to MM. Then when she found out MM started cheating on her she moved on to Brewer. The reason MM is so involved here is because it is suspected that MM is the one who helped JA create the phony pedophile letters that she tried to have admitted as evidence and were thrown out by the judge. She then had her mother approach the National Enquirer to have the letters printed but they were suspicious of their authenticity and refused to accept them. Also those hidden messages in the magazines that were presented in court are known to be a message she was trying to get out to MM to change his testimony before he was to be interviewed by the Prosecution. The jail guards found the messages and turned them over to the Prosecution who in turn questioned MM. It is believed that MM turned on JA and admitted his involvement.

And no….MM was not a friend of TA.

Oh what a tangled web we weave………!!

Boy what does that say about Nat’l Enq that even they wouldn’t print them. I find it fascinating that this loser had so much time on her hands to dream and scheme so many things. She had all the time on her hands, no job or at least nothing too steady and if she did, one where she would leave at any time, no responsibilities, no common sense to pay a mortgage w/a credit card (goes into the no forethinking), moving from man to man within the same social circle, etc. So much to think on that is so incredulous. She was a piranha, a leach – suck and drain from a life source and when that was exhausted, onto the next. The idealization and then the abhorrence. So far from human…..

What still amazes me is that she would drive 1,000 miles to get laid and on a regular basis. I have asked so many of my friends if they would drive that far and NOT one would!!! If it was your husband or your fiance and because of jobs, etc that would be a different story. But just for sex – they have battery operated things to take care of you if you’re that desperate!!! 😉

I’m surprised the forged letters weren’t allowed in (for the prosecution)–goes straight to refute her claim he was a pedophile. Unless there was some issue like it couldn’t be proved she was behind it, etc., but I think probative far outweighs prejudicial on this one. I mean, if your defense is true, why do you have to go around forging documents to support it??

      • 05/01/2013 at 1:09 am

I still don’t understand how she had enough money to travel to Mesa a million times just for sex or all these places with Travis she claims to have helped pay for.1000 miles is how many hours? 15-ish maybe? If that isn’t obsession I don’t know what is! She seemed to have money for whatever she needed, whenever she needed it. I wonder if she stoke money from her mom or grandparents just like Casey Anthony did?

I have always felt that MM & Darryl were more heavily involved than we will ever know. I will also be very disappointed if Juan is not able to bring the lady from Chase bank on to testify
that JA was stealing or altering TA’s bank accounts. Being some what naive to trials, in the end will Juan explain, to the best of his knowledge, just how everything went down?

      • NancyB
        04/30/2013 at 3:30 pm

Hi Gateway! – Suzie Dittman the fraud investigator for JP Morgan Chase will NOT be testifying. That hearing was last Wed. morning, prior to Juan’s rebuttal case. The defense was successful in keeping her testimony about Jodi stealing Travis $$$ out.

      • 05/01/2013 at 1:22 am

I would love to hear from Chase bank too! THEORY: I have a feeling she stole a bunch of Travis’s checks back in April before she moved. She probably knew how much he had in his account. If she took checks from the box of extra checks rather than his checkbook he wouldn’t have noticed any missing. On June 3rd she probably wrote a few of those checks out to herself with an earlier date and forged his signature and deposited them into her account(s). Knowing he would be dead the next day Travis wouldn’t have ever known obviously and if questioned by police or family she could say Travis paid her back money he owed her. She could say he mailed the checks to her especially if she wrote a date for a week earlier they wouldn’t know the truth. God I wish Juan would bring this in somehow…

Good day everyone, not sure if this has yet been posted so I’m adding it anyway. Supreme court denied the request by the defense to set aside the death penalty.

    http://www.nydailynews.com/news/crime/jodi-arias-grilled-court-face-death-penalty-article-1.1271292#ixzz2RxfMdAAO

The state’s highest court refused to accept the accused murderer’s request for a stay on the death penalty option. Her friends say she knows she needs to be punished for her crime.

Hi Darlin’ {{{{{hugs}}}}} Check out the last line that came from DonoMAN and Ann Campbell

“She does know that, you know, she does need to pay for the crime,” Campbell said told ABC News. “But I don’t want her to die and I know that she has so much to give back.”

Yeah right – she thinks it’s all Travis’ fault and she should be acquited. What she has to give back is that if allowed out she WILL KILL AGAIN!!! Guaranteed!!!!!!!!!!!! 👿

Hi Honey {{{{waves back}}}} 🙂 I agree, I totally believe she would kill again and I think the best proof of that is the 9mm and knives found in the car on her arrest! She was either continuing her persuit of someone else…chilling…or ready to kill to avoid arrest and off on the run. Either way I believe she will kill again if released! I just wanted to give everyone a reminder the justice system DOES recognise she has committed a crime worthy of a death penalty trial…lets hope this follows through to the jury….

I have gone back to day 3 (and 1 and 2 lol) and am still in process of rewatching several days worth of trial.

I agree that it is worth revisiting! Throughout the HOs testilies and the duh-fenses “experts” it is easy to understand how so much of early testimony can be forgotten! I am so glad Juan recalled Dr. Horn in the rebuttal……… to remind us, once again why the Ho deserves the DP.

We have been thinking all along that she killed him 3x over, and is continuing to slaughter him in death. Actually, Dr. H says that she was killed 4x over. He said that if TA had only rec’d the 9 stabs to the back and head wounds he would have bled out and DIED. He said that the Heart wound by itself, TA would have bled out and DIED. He said the throat slashing, TA would have DIED. He said that the gunshot wound would have also caused TA to DIE.

Regardless of the sequence of killings, the fact that she stuffed him in that shower stall and left him to die while she went off to grind Ryan Burns is in and of itself CRUEL. The duhfense and the Ho can’t get past that, no matter what they try to say on the sequencing

One of the hardest parts for me to watch, and yes, unfortunately this entire case is hard to watch, was the testimony of the responding officer(Sterling Williams, day 1). After being crammed in that shower and left to die, 5 days after the HOs murderous crime, there were gasses and fluids still coming out of T’s neck wound and was still gurgaling. MY GOD I still say the needle is too fn easy for her! She should be tortured!

    • MMD
      04/30/2013 at 1:13 pm

The pictures were bad enough but I don’t think I could listen to that testimony again. If you think about it, ya could make it 5 times, because she left him there to bleed out and did not call 911. My only hope is that he died very very quickly.

How does death row sound for a few years, no human contact, no reading or writing materials, a shower once a week, no mirror and during all that time, all she can do is anticipate her death sentence because no one tells her exactly when it is going to be!!! Does that work for ya Moon????

It was obvious from the testimony the State was playing delaying games, withholding evidence of deceptive statements (lies) by one of their witnesses. Apparently the were playing hide the salami with that evidence, and didn’t turn it over to the defense in a timely fashion.

      • 05/01/2013 at 12:13 am

“If he’d stayed in his truck…”
Have you personally listened to the un-edited 911 tape? As we’ve learned, timelines are important. Zimmerman wasn’t advised to quit pursuit until he was already out of his truck because he’d lost Trayvon and didn’t know where he went. Once advised, he clearly stopped (as evidenced by the stopped hard breathing).
Please be careful in judging too quickly. Perhaps Zimmerman wasn’t perfect, but he was just patrolling his own neighborhood that had had a rash of burglaries. I really don’t believe he was looking for a physical confrontation that night. I truly think Trayvon was pissed he was being followed, assessed that Zimmerman was older and smaller than him, and Trayvon jumped Zimmerman to get back at him. Zimmerman doesn’t need “stand your ground” defense, cuz his defense is simple classic self-defense. I don’t begrudge Zimmerman for fighting for his life. I would have done the same.

    • kCruzk123
      04/30/2013 at 1:43 pm

But if you remember back to before the shooting he was sorta heavy-set and he lost a lot of weight. Some could say it was due to stress and some could say it was to appear smaller (hmmm, sound like anyone we know). Because in the media is was being stressed that he was beefier compared to the thinner, younger Trayvon. So maybe he just gained back the weight that he lost. In fact, his friend that kept supporting him, can’t remember his name right now but in one interview he actually described Zimmerman as a kind PORTLY guy.

      • Jay
        04/30/2013 at 2:26 pm

Making as association between Arias, who in a premeditated act of murder brutally stabbed, sliced, and shot Travis Alexander after a long convoluted tempestuous relationship, with Zimmerman, who may or may not have been justified in the sad, unfortunate single gunshot shooting death of Trayvon Martin – seems far fetched.

      • kCruzk123
        04/30/2013 at 4:18 pm

I wasn’t trying to compare one tragedy with another. I was merely commenting on the fact that there, IMO, seems to be a similar strategy amongst defense teams in trying to portray their defendants as something they were not, prior to trial.

      • 05/01/2013 at 12:16 am

People gain and lose weight all the time due to stress. I doubt it’s a strategy. If it were Zimmerman’s strategy, wouldn’t he have kept to it thru the most important time of the trial so the jurors could get the same impression?
        You did compare to Arias.

I’ve talked to her off line a bit – ya’ll know its currently 2:30am for her.. She has a normal life and responsibilities that she has to work all her JA input into and around (notwithstanding the time zone difference) She takes this case and her contributions on here very seriously because she has been victimized by the male version of Jodi. She is brilliant, insightful, driven, and probably needing of some well deserved rest…

Glad I wasn’t in the sandbox at the time!! Syn, where r u hon??

      • 05/01/2013 at 12:28 am

I was here at the time and couldn’t believe what I saw going down. I love Syntara and think her contributions are one if the main reasons this site is so wonderful. But it was really bizarre. Here was Syntara doing this tease about the gun, getting everyone to beg for her answer about that aspect of the case. And then the “other” commented on an aspect of a post that I thought could fairly be construed as such. Apologies were made by the “other”, but to no avail. It felt like Syn just picked up her ball and went home in a huff. To me it seemed like an overreaction, especially given the apologies and explanations that were given.
And I thought it was really inconsiderate to leave everyone hanging on the gun issue like that, even after some people specifically asked for her insight. But….
Whatev…..I hope to see her back for sure!

it really irritates me that the duhfense was able to call this new sur-rebuttal witness, esp when they blocked Juan from calling the bank person! I so wonder if the Ho hacked in to his accounts after she BRUTALLY MURDERED HIM IN COLD BLOOD. I cannot believe the Judge would not allow this witness! Yes, Juan can still proove the ho’s consciousness of guilt without it, it’s just the point!

your guess as good as mine; the discussion went into systems of justice in America and abroad. Someone ticked her off or made her feel defensive OR she took a comment to be an attack on her comment. I dunno. Maybe she had to go somewhere today and nothings wrong ” a tall” as the Brits say. Maybe tongiht she’ll view the page and see she was missed and ANYONE who bugged her, had apologized.

Sorry, took the day to watch a pretrial hearing in another case today…thinking I didn’t have to monitor, only to find a feud/misunderstanding happening…makes me sad! Will say, we are all at our wits end after the length and bs of this trial…asking all to stay the course for Travis. We all need to leave our egos at the door (of which I was guilty, early on) and proceed with the mission we began with…Travis and his family…btw, sand from the sandbox is limited to the sandbox only! {{{hugs all}}}…mom!

        04/30/2013 at 3:09 pm

The weird hours are the result of this case, and her contributions to this blog – she has a very “protective” urge as a result of what she has been thru – I know she is very concerned about making sure others aren’t inadvertently duped by the likes of a JA. It’s incredibly helpful even to someone like myself who spent years in state law enforcement….

    random thoughts……

On NG last nite they played the ho’s parents interviews with Flores. the ho had told her Mom that she just wanted to kill herself. Her “mother” with her ‘tweedle-dum’ canor says to the ho “look what Travis’ family is going through. If you do that, we would be going through worse than what T’s family is going through. She went on to say that the ho told her that was the “only” reason she doesn’t kill herself. Excuse Me????
Stupid is as Stupid does is all that comes to mind!

    I call BULLLLLLLLLLLLSHIIIIT
IMO, the only reason she WOULD kill herself it to further torture her own family. She has NO thought of offing herself! (dammit) She STILL thinks she’s winning

  48. Moon
    04/30/2013 at 2:43 pm

La Toilette had to plant the idea of DV in the ho’s mind … see she’s NOT SO SMART AFTERALL! lol! The ho then has to search her journals to try to come up with 4 — yes count them F O U R! instances of supposed abuse. once again i say…

The ho and Travis knew each other for approx 600 days!!!!!!! in that time, she fabricates four times of abuse. LESS THAN 1% OF THEIR TIME TOGETHER. On the other hand, her abuse and violence towards Travis was far more than 1% of the 600 days…… and it was much more cruel. (and I am not even including the MURDER here!

I have a question for you guys….#1 HOW did travis supposedly get such control over slut bag, when they weren’t even really together? It takes time to cultivate a controlling relationship & then start abusing(I know from experience as a past abusee)…they didn’t even live close to eachother for much of their “friends with benefits” relationship…..& was it brought up at all in court? The likelyhood of her even being a victim, given there was no real relationship?
#2/ other than the “pictures”how do we know they met up & had sex the day of his murder? Were there any txt msgs from him when she was on her way there? Like “hey, should be there in 2 hours” or whatever? Is there any emails saying he is expecting her?

    • NancyB

Yup! That’s it in a nutshell- Who travels to someone’s home for a visit (in the middle of the night) without being in contact? Not once was there a call or text letting him know her progress, or letting him know she was getting close… It was a covert arrival.

    • truejustice
      04/30/2013 at 4:17 pm

#1 – I honestly think ja FELT controlled and manipulated and probably even abused by him. She gave him her body in every way , her money, joined his church, moved to az etc. She did everything she knew to make him love her – but it didn’t work. And when it didn’t work she felt used , abused and manipulated etc. She doesn’t seem to understand how her behaviors contribute to her feeling etc.

#2. I am not sure. I cant seem to make any assumptions on that one. I can see how she would just show up but also can see her asking to stay there while passing though, or even a last talk.

      • ringadingding
        04/30/2013 at 4:49 pm

That’s interesting. If she does feel used, it’s pretty twisted thinking, considering she thrust herself into his life in every way possible, moved to be close to him after they broke up, preyed upon and perverted his religious values, and after slaughtering him, continues the assault.

      • 04/30/2013 at 5:19 pm

Hummmm.. #1 – I honestly think she was trying to control and manipulate by doing all these things and it did not work so then she felt rage. jmho.

    04/30/2013 at 5:09 pm

My 2 cents: after watching the trial everyday and reading as much as I can everyday – I have come to the conclusion that even WHEN Jodi is convicted of 1st degree – premeditation and sentenced to DP – she will still learn (in prison) all the different appeals things she can do and she will file for a ba-jillion appeals in hopes that just ONE will stick and she will get LWOP. She has proven that she will stop at nothing to get her way. She can keep on filing until some dumb appellate judge allows one of them to give her LWOP.

    • MMD
      04/30/2013 at 5:15 pm

Let her file – facts are facts no matter what, she slaughtered Travis and then tried to ruin his and his family’s reputation in court! There won’t be any more court for her, it will just be attorneys filing appeals. Hopefully her sentencing will be the last time she ever sees a court room!

      • 04/30/2013 at 5:23 pm

Yes, MMD! Exactly! Hopefully the appeal process will be rapid and thorough…the end!

      • 05/01/2013 at 12:42 am

97% of all criminal appeals are denied! That is a steep steep hill to climb.
And can you imagine how much uglier Jodi will get as she ages? She is so not pretty as the media insists.

    • deballyn
      04/30/2013 at 5:22 pm

Unfortunately if she does get DP, she will have years of appeals and most likely take it to the US Supreme Court. This will keep her name in the news for years. I think she’ll get more publicity and attention with :DP Than with a LWOP sentence. .

That’s ok….at least she won’t be in our faces anymore! She won’t be getting the limelight that she sooooo loves and while she’s waiting for the needle she can just sit there and rot as she gets old. Getting old will kill her inside for starters!!

Just something that’s been rattling around in my head since the very beginning of the trial . . .

The ME has definitively shown the gunshot came last, and I don’t care how many experts from what field the DT puts up, nobody will have as much credibility as Dr. Horn, who did the autopsy. I think he will be the most influential with the jury as far as “what killed Travis.”

Unlike almost everybody, however, I don’t believe the GSW necessarily occurred as part of the initial killing frenzy, either. In other words, it didn’t necessarily occur as part of the core act of murder, or as soon as she got him in the shower, or even to kill him in outright. Speculation has generally centered around one or more of these —

    1) he gurgled or spasmed and she kind of freaked out because she thought he wasn’t dead so she shot him

    2) she panicked when she realized she couldn’t get the mess cleaned up, and thought maybe it would look like there were two attackers if there were two types of wounds, which would also more closely align with the huge mess, or

    3) she shot him merely as a coup de grace

If I had to guess, I would say she shot him as a coup de grace, but right before she left, almost as an afterthought. Really, though, I have no idea which, if any, of these it is; I just don’t think the GSW followed directly on the heels of stabbing him and moving him to the shower. It’s something which has bothered me from the beginning, and only frustrates me more each time the DT has tried to make it seem like the GSW was first.

    • Jay
      04/30/2013 at 9:31 pm

I agree it was the coup de grace.
But likely she shot him before she placed him in the shower.
Probably just before she stuffed him inside it.
      For two reasons:
The spent cartridge is outside the shower, on the floor.
It’s possible it could have ricocheted there from inside, but not likely if she was standing in front of travis.
Also, in the police crime scene photo showing his body in the shower stall, his head is in the corner, at an angle that would make it impossimble to reproduce the head entry wound as described in the autopsy report.
Again, it’s possible she could have entered the shower, pulled his head away from the wall, and shot down transversely with her left hand (that’s the hand she favors). But it would have been easier to aim at his forehead.

Something has always nagged at me…….Jodi’s story that she went to Costa Rica as an exchange student and had a relationship there with a man named Victor Arias. First of all, there is absolutely nothing in Jodi’s mediocre education and life to suggest she would participate in anything as ambitious or productive as a foreign exchange program. It just doesn’t fit with the aimless jobs, travels, pursuits, and wanderings we now know were the story of her worthless life.

Secondly, isn’t it a bit suspicous that this man’s name supposedly was Victor Arias – a combination of Travis’ middle name and her last name?

Finally, and this question is pointed directly at Syntara for input, isn’t it possible that this little sociopath is mirroring and mimicking, taking a shred of reality from someone else’s meaningful life – someone whose relationship with Travis she was obviously threatened by – and using the location of Costa Rica for this fictional exchange program because this is where Deanna Reid served her LDS mission? Couldn’t this be her attempt on some pathetic level to compete with Deanna?

The one thing we know for a fact is that Jodi is a pathological liar. No one has offered any supporting evidence for her having actually spent time in Costa Rica or for Victor Arias being anything other than a figment of her imagination. A lie she put out there to help solidify her pattern of abusive cheating boyfriends to justify why Travis is the one who finally pushed her to the brink. A lie with just enough truth mixed in, (as sociopaths do) as we’ve seen with so many other of her lies to make it somewhat believable. The truth in this instance being: Deanna went to Costa Rica, Jodi’s last name is Arias, and Travis’ middle name being Victor.

    • MMD
      04/30/2013 at 6:45 pm

Ok I didn’t believe that Victor Arias existed for a moment!!! I thought the same way you did. However, Chris Stark found school records where he did come as an exchange student. If you’re on twitter you can find it under her favourites – I’m not on twitter so can’t access it but I saw when she originally posted it.

As for JA – well if she opened her mouth to say it, it was probably a lie. Dunno!!!

      • commerce1
        04/30/2013 at 6:57 pm

But has anyone verified that Jodi Arias went to Costa Rica? It seems to be something beyond her ambition.

        04/30/2013 at 9:40 pm

I thought the same thing as you MMD! But like someone said (sorry I didn’t catch who) DID she ever GO to Costa Rica??? I myself doubt it….Like said before, she’s a drop out and wold have never been qualified to go for “school!!!” No way!!!!! IF, and I say IF she ever went there, it was to FOLLOW Victor Aries!!!! IMHO

To Travis’ family and all of you!

Thank you Donchais for sharing this video. Very grounding and from the heart….sadly we got visions of Travis begging to be free from the torment she was inflicting on him on that tragic day. JA has such a dark soul to have such animalistic actions in her! She is the evil that walks the earth in so many! God help us that he saves another human being from her evilness and frees the world of her existence!!

We old hens are a long time fans of Rod Stewart (screamed and on our knees at several of his CA concerts!) and you picked one of his great songs to accompany the peaceful snapshots representative of Travis. Thank you again for sharing with us!

Now it’s onto washing dog coats and bed covers…I live right on the lake so I get the breeze (and gale force winds in winter!). I was out in the burbs on my horse and it was hot! bailey good :
Hi everyone! I have a few questions because I’m learning about new things pertaining to the murder.I love this site btw and you all have some great theories and information on here. This has become my morning newspaper
Anyways, I was reading about the 2 sd card ordeal. Someone mentioned the sex pics possibly being from another day but the dates on the camera manipulated by Jodi. I thought of that poss too however, my only question was, did she have darker hair at any other point of their relationship or always blonde?

As a matter of fact, if you listen to her interrogation tape (before she’s in the orange jump suit) she mentions the SD card herself. She tries to sell Det. Flores on the idea that someone could substitute the SD cards in the cameras. She says, “could you put an SD card from one camera into another?” We weren’t sure where she was going with that, other than to maybe make it look like someone planted evidence to make it look like she was there.

    • 05/01/2013 at 2:49 am

Thank you Cici for that info 🙂 Only she would ask detective Flores that question with him knowing she’s into photography. I mean cone on, she would def know the answer to that! What a dumbass.

Hello everyone. Another reader bites the dust and joins your group. I’ve wanted several times to post yet left it till now to offer an opinion. I feel like I know most of you on so many levels. “Observer” is my sister though we have not met in this life. I live in Mesa Az so the conviction and execution of the nastiness known as Jodi Arias is important to me. She really is Evil in human form. My thought today after reading about her unusual proclivity for tracing other people’s art and photography and trying to passit off as her own work is this….. Wait for it…. JODI, you MORON, a 5 year old could trace a picture or photo better than you could! The only original thing she is capable of is the world class lies she tells.

Hope you enjoy y’all’s time away in the woods and glad you’re going before it gets too hot. I’m thinking of taking my niece and nephews tubing this summer and have heard your home state can boast of some great destinations. Any suggestions?

      • 04/30/2013 at 10:05 pm

Hi kCruz.. Yes of course Houston, Ms! I missed someone saying hi to me from Houston. I gotta scroll up and see that!
As far as tubing in Ark I don’t know but a nice float on the Buffalo National River is great! That is normally what we do each year but we had to go early this year and the river is kinda cold yet. Floating the buffalo is ideal for beginners and truly beautiful. If you are more experienced floaters I would suggest the Spring River. Lots of wonderful destinations and scenery to be enjoyed!

Watching Skye Huges on Dr. Drew. Is anyone else watching? Did she just say her and Chris’ nickname for Jodi was Rabbit Boiler? Wow. She’s affirming what Syn has been saying–that the week prior was the first time Travis saw Jodi for who she really was, and who they (Chris and Skye) had seen for a long time. It was the argument in which he names it–exposes her true nature–that set things in motion. The Cancun trip was just more evidence that he was over her that she could not ignore or deny.

It’s stunning to hear how the DT twisted their words of concern about TA–the “warnings” to JA–it had nothing to do with abuse or mistreatment. I won’t say more so that you can catch it all when you replay.

      • janeto

      • ringadingding
        04/30/2013 at 10:05 pm

I know! Why didn’t the prosecution have her as a witness to rebut ALV’s testimony where she referenced the Hughes’ “warnings” to Jodi (about TA) ad naseum? Skye would have cleared that up in no time and shown the DT for the sleazy bad actors they are.

      • ringadingding
        04/30/2013 at 10:07 pm

They could have also been brought back to rebut ALV’s “expert” testimony that Jodi was not a stalker. Tons of examples that she was obsessed, stalking, invading.

Such good friends. It must have been horrible to see him ensnared by someone like that and not be able to get it through to him while he could still get away (or maybe that was never possible). Skye’s account of feeling a dark chill and knowing that Jodi was listening outside the door was beyond freaky. Oh, how I hope and pray the jury sees her for who she really is.

Didn’t DeMarte testiphy that Jodi wanted makeup for her booking photo? Was that brought up in trial or did she simply testiphy to Jodi’s mugshot that looked like a highschool photo instead of someone getting booked for murder?

    • TexiBelle
      04/30/2013 at 10:06 pm

I don’t know the underlying details that transpired between the two of them- but I read and re-read the posts- I saw ZERO signs of US bashing, etc. I think something was very misrepresented and run with.!

I truly meant no harm at all I try so hard to keep any political themes out of this forum because I truly believe this is about one thing and one thing ONLY… Justice 4 Travis against a cold lying evilness who should never have entered his life let alone been able to take it from this world.

I would like to just let things be and pretend it didn’t happen, I think there is more to what happened than meets the eye because I am sure you all realised in no way was I saying a trial such as this could not happen here in Australia or anywhere else. Just that in this instance it IS happening in the US and I hope .. as each and every one of us does, that the verracity and integrity of Juan wins over the sleazeballs and sleazeball tactics of the DT.

Love the bit where he starts to explain the letters at the end. Pretty much my summation of video 2. It’s all in there.. and it’s from Jodi! I blogged about it on my site when I explained how important that video is and what she says.

To most people it’s probably rambling.. but to me it was absolutely rivetting. It tells exactly that story but in Jodispeak. If ever you want to understand Jodispeak.. watch that video and read my interpretations of it.

Also, Please don’t let anything bother or stress u. U heard from 99.9% of us that we did not see anything negative from you. I actually went back and read the posts because I didn’t notice any friction at all the first time around. Even when I retread them, I still don’t understand where anything got misconstrued. Oh, well. All’s well that ends well. If anything good can be taken out of this, it’s that u got to see how important u r to all of us. 🙂

So far, each expert for the defense has contradicted the other witnesses. Samuels, after finally settling on a diagnosis of PTSD caused by dissociative amnesia, was asked by a juror:

Question: “Are you able to state that Ms. Arias had either PTSD and/or acute stress disorder before the incident on June 4, 2008?”

Answer: “From what I [learned], many of these symptoms occurred AFTER the incident had occurred, such as the emotional numbing, the physiological reactions that she was experiencing, etc. [and] while it was possible beforehand, I didn’t see the likelihood that that was the case.” (Translation for those of us without a degree in psych: “NO.”)
    (day 35, part 2 1258 minutes/croakerqueen)

Thus, by stating the the WOBO was not suffering from any disorder prior to 4 June, defense expert #1 negated the testimony of defense expert #2 before she even testified. Please tell me the jury caught this, because apparently the defense didn’t; they proceeded with ALV and the script they had prepared, contradicions be damned.

So far, the defense has floated an endless litany of excuses, including but not limited to, childhood physical abuse, childhood emotional abuse, low self esteem, Transient Global Amnesia, dissociative amnesia, Battered Women’s syndrome, PTSD, and hinted at childhood sexual abuse because the father made “inappropriate comments about the bodies of the mother and the WOBO.” The defense has yet to even hint at any personal responsibility on the part of the WOBO.

The Prosecution, on the other hand, has presented its case in a simple and straightforward manner — the WOBO was an obsessively jealous woman who stalked and murdered her ex-boyfriend, and then lied about it. She has a mental diagnosis of Borderline Personality Disorder, but it neither caused nor excuses the murder. The State has never wavered from this single premise throughout this trial.

So far, none of these excuses offered by the defense appear to have been a success with the jury, so now, they want to bring on yet another “expert” to proffer yet another nonsensical theory or diagnosis? How many cracks at an excuse does the defense team get in one trial? I know it is common to use a different defense strategy for a retrial or an appeal, but this is ridiculous! Where is the line drawn in such a ping pong match? It could conceivably go on forever at this rate.

    • 04/30/2013 at 11:12 pm

I see what you mean Schaeff.. but to me the most important aspect is

Dr Dodgy negated himself… you cannot perform a psychological test of residual stress if the triggering event never took place. No stress, amnesia or on going symptoms can follow an event that never took place.

LaLa: Her claims to domestic violence stemmed from convenient interpretations of extremely minimal and isolated events born out of the journals and mind of a proven pathological liar.

There was absolutely no other corroborating evidence in either case. Legitimate claims or claims you want taken seriously cannot be based on events never took place or likely never took place when classified under reasonable doubt.

Seriously I don’t think it needs to be thought of any more deeply than that because in itself those facts render anything else totally irrelevant.

      • 04/30/2013 at 11:14 pm

I should qualify that first one.. stress can take place from an event that doesn’t take place… but that would involve mind control mechanisms and in this case it is not relevant.

CC’Cs how could I ignore you ladies!? Just not possible!

Syntara!! Ahhhh….there you are! We had a question and knowing our memories (in addition to popping two corks today!) we wrote it down because we KNEW we’d forget!! Anyway the old gals and I have been trying to get things done before trial started so today we finally got together for a few minutes……ok ok ok….longer than a few minutes because we popped two corks!….but it came to us…..now “batshit crazy” works for us because it’s easier to understand, but considering the mental experts having found BPD…does this gutter trash (JA!) get some kind of satisfaction in knowing that by killing TA she has in some way killed everyone who loved him?! Not sure if it’s worded clearly, but one of the gals was saying that while JA was on the stand it’s almost as if you could see some kind of satisfaction in her eyes that she got back at EVERYONE and ANYONE in TA’s circle that may not have liked her. Is this a BPD sign or symptom or are we seeing things????

The old gals staggered home already but they told me to make sure I asked you if you came online.
    *******************************************************************************************************
Oh crap….this may show up twice! It went in to moderation…..disregard the second one! I pasted it into a new posting. Hah….like I know what I’m doing!!

    • 04/30/2013 at 11:46 pm

CC’sC Ok first off I think BPD is only a partial diagnosis of Jodistein so I find it very difficult to speak from that premise simply because it does not explain her completely. In my opinion it misses the mark. BUT, as I have said, … I understand why Dr Demarte went that way, primarily out of lack of experience in the ‘real’ world as yet.. but she will very quickly catch up because she is so very astute and intelligent. Nothing compares to experience.. as I am sure you lot can identify with!!

So…….. I prefer to speak of her in terms of at least ASPD (colloquially known as sociopath).

Simple answer as I can get it:

Jodistein is not fighting the court. She is fighting Travis STILL. She is still proving she can and WILL beat him.

Each and every time she can get someone to believe what she wants them to believe about Travis to her is a win. Each and every time she can ‘put something out there’ that he can not defend.. it’s a win. He is STILL paying for ‘making’ her do this ie still paying for seeing through her. She has lost very very few times in her life.. she can not stand to lose. It drives her crazy.. hence the rage and cruelty in killing Travis especially when she thought he was getting away in that bathroom.

I wrote some time back a post entitled “The Game” she is STILL playing that game and will continue to do so until the day she dies. Her act on the stand is not about beating Juan or the court… it is about beating Travis. The rest is all part of that definitely, but not the main relevance for her.

Interrogation Video 5.. she says seemingly to nobody… “Still beat ya” she is talking to Travis. That’s an extremely relevant piece of footage.

      • 04/30/2013 at 11:48 pm

btw.. the idea of the popping of the cork or two brought an instant smile to my face.. hope you poured a glass (or two 😛 ) for me!

        05/01/2013 at 12:00 am

Ohhhhh…..ok…..that makes sense!! Wonder what her thoughts will turn to once she finds herself sitting on death row waiting for the needle! She’ll have a hell of a time trying to say “still beat ya” while she’s staring at four walls! But then again…..in her warped mind since she’s still here and he isn’t she’ll still think she won this sick game of hers….right???

      • 05/01/2013 at 12:17 am

hmmm ok let me again refer you to the interrogation videos… wow they are SO important to someone like me i can’t thank those detectives enough for bringing it all out!

To her Travis is with her.. she killed him, she took his life, she controlled when he left this earth, to her his spirit is with her. That’s why she talks to him in vid 5. It’s also why through most of the tapes and even on the stand she so often refers to him in the present tense. The only way she could keep him was to kill him.

The neck slash could well be the ‘blood atonement’ from that Gilmore movie “Shot in the heart” for this very reason. Her responsible for sending him to salvation and thus keeping his spirit ‘atoned’. I have no evidence for this except her almost obsessive need to tie everything to movies, the nature of that wound itself and the way her disordered mind works

The ONLY way to even make her begin to feel like she lost is this isolation the DP will bring. Anything less and she will feel that she won.

I think if she is put in that isolation as described by others in here.. an audio recorder needs to run 24 hours a day because I think a lot of that “talking to Travis” will occur over time. The longer she spends there the more she will speak to ‘him’.

You know I was thinking about this today. That Jodi was happy she was on trial and killing Travis again. I’m not convinced she cares to get off, as much as she wants to “beat Travis” by killing him and then killing him again.

All her body language is super negative and doesn’t endear herself at all. I’m not sure she cares, I think she’s still at war with Travis. I think she just wants to keep on killing him.

Appears you, Cici, and syn have the same premise about Jodi being at war with Travis. Humm. Makes sense she only cares about her winning game. I have a very hard time comprehending aspd. I have never known anybody remotely like her, thankfully.

    • Kristy
      05/01/2013 at 12:08 am

I almost posted about this earlier and held back for some reason. But I think that you are spot on. I think that Jodi’s mental state has her in such a state that it’s a like a broken record, and she’s skipping on the hate Travis, kill Travis, make everyone hate Travis. I don’t see her trying to get off as much as trying to destroy Travis over and over and destroy him in everyone else’s eyes.

Today, I watched handwriting analysis (of Jodi) after he died utube as well as body language analysis and and analysis about her court dress. The sum total of these was that she isn’t trying to get the appeal that she should be. Instead, she’s focusing on herself in a narcisstic way that is saying “Hey Travis! I got you! and I’m still getting you!”

It’s so sickening to think of what a horrible person that she is to do this.

I’m torn between wanting DP because she deserves it, and society doesn’t deserve to have her see the light of day again and LWOP because then she doesn’t get anymore press, no automatic appeals. It’s done finite. LWOP is still horrible, and it would be done for Travis’s family, no dealing with DP appeals, and they could stop her profiteering. She would lose by becoming becoming the Roxie Hart that she sees herself as.

      • kCruzk123
        05/01/2013 at 12:36 am

kristy, I agree with you. I think I will feel sad if the sentence is LWOP but in the end I just want her to be found guilty of 1st degree. I want her out of sight and out of mind.
I watched Roxie Hart on TCM the other night and do think I saw some JA in Roxie or the other way around.

      • NancyB
        05/01/2013 at 2:07 am

She would fit in too well and socialize with her own gang before very long. Nooo, that is NOT enough punishment. I want her in solitary with only visits behind glass and no contact with any inmates and only 2 phone calls a week for 10 min apiece until it’s time for the needle. She would be allowed 2 appliances so one could be a small TV but I’m hoping that the stations allowed are very limited. Certainly LWOP is better than the lesser options. I will be just ill if the verdict is anything less than murder in the ist, which I’m convinced that it will be.

to: ringadingding 04/28/2013 at 11:11 pm | #140 Quote (MISSED MY OPPORTUNITY TO QUOTE THIS WHEN I FIRST READ IT)

Wow. Thank you, Janna. I wonder if Dr. DeMarte couldn’t diagnose antisocial personality disorder because she could not comment on or consider the criminal aspect of Jodi’s actions (such as the ability to sustain a rage for a week while she planned the murder–that’s a pretty significant distinction that Dr. Randle shows is not BPD—along with all the lying that covers up her planning)? I may be muddling things up and/or misunderstanding what an expert like Dr. D can testify to, but I was under the impression that Samuels couldn’t testify (thankfully) to a relationship between PTSD and lack of pre-meditation because it crossed a line of some sort.
Also, I thought that study about how age and experience creates more disagreement on diagnoses was really interesting. Even so, I loved Dr. D’s no-nonsense approach to setting things straight with her Spock-like “That would be illogical” and “I would say that you are not being accurate” statements. So refreshing to hear someone make sense. I was banging my head on the desk after listening to Samuels and LV blather on and on. LV has absolutely no self-awareness. When a member of the jury asked her about always looking to her left, she said she only did it a few times, to acknowledge friends or JA. She looked to her left after nearly every friggin question by JM! Clueless as to her own behavior and bias. So sad and frustrating how she set real DV advocacy back.

Ringadingding, I wanted to compliment you on this comment and waited too long, comments had closed. But I think you made a great assumption, perhaps Dr. DeMarte could only be witness to certain information. She, unlike us ‘armchair quarterbacks’ must have to follow certain rules which guide expert witness testimony(though other testifying ‘experts’ may have strayed along the yellow brick road). I trust Mr. Martinez. Certainly he selected Dr. DeMarte for her proven prior abilities as expert witness.
I admired Dr. Demarte’s testimony, her composure under fire and her ability to sound as though she was truly trying to provide her unbiased analysis of content of information gathered from defendant. Just IMO, I say I appreciated that she had the ability to sound as through she was presenting unbiased content because in reality IMO, both defense and prosecution experts should sound unbiased. If the jury interprets a witness as sounding biased then wouldn’t they assume that the testimony is tilted too far from the truth.

    • Ci Ci's Circle
      05/01/2013 at 12:08 am

Could it be that maybe Dr. D couldn’t make a full diagnosis because not everything was made available to her? Didn’t the judge disallow quite a bit of information that the Prosecution wanted to bring up in court?

      • 05/01/2013 at 12:55 am

Her testing showed you could throw a dart and hit something.. it covered a multitude of cluster B diagnoses. Simply because they all overlap, some moreso than others.

I’ve covered this in previous posts. I believe Dr Demarte went with what she felt most comfortable with in line with her experience and what she knew of the defendant.

Kcruz – I’ve wondered about this very issue ever since Dr D’s diagnosis so I was thrilled to read Dr Kristina’s post on this. On the previous thread I wrote a comment about this very thing. Chris Hughes helplessness was chilling and upsetting, knowing defense twisted emails into slander and unable to do anything about it must have been agonizing. I know the judge and prosecution must not upset the defendant, but come on, this is ridiculous. Many others have written this but I can not let it go, what has become of the truth? Court rules and tactics can get anyone off if you have a brilliant defense attorney! I know very little of our trial process and my little brain can only think logic, the fabrications defy it. Gawd, I wonder if any of this trial will be referenced in future cases and make way for crimes to be minimized.

    • 05/01/2013 at 1:13 am

It is such a horrific process. Rape victims have been going through this forever. During my husband’s trial, it was 4 weeks of ME being called a liar, greedy, a sexual deviant who loved to be raped and role-playing. All lies! No proof whatsoever of any of these things ever in our 12 yr marriage. All the while, the jury was repeatedly reminded that my husband was innocent til proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
I know this isn’t a political blog, but it’s one reason I am a Republican…I cannot stand how much Democrats love to fight for criminals’ rights, as well as defense attorneys. Don’t mean to open a can of worms here, but I saw it first hand as I personally lobbied the CA legislature last year.

Hello gang! How’s everyone doing? Ready for the big day?

I have a couple thoughts..If they were talked about already I’m sorry. I read as much as i could on here but may have missed some things. #1- Jodi said she didn’t realize she shot Travis. Ummm, when the gun made a loud bang what the hell did she think it was??

#2-I 100% don’t believe Jodi told Travis she was coming over. The reason I think this is because if she told him she was visiting, he may have mentioned it to someone in an innocent conversation or told his roommate that Jodi was coming so if you hear someone in the middle of the night don’t be alarmed..that type of thing. Or a sarcastic comment saying stalker Jodi is coming over…you get my point. Jodi shut her phone and gps off during the whole Arizona chunk of her trip to hide any evidence she was there. Why would she risk telling him? How did she call Travis and tell him with no phone on? She thought of the possibility of Travis mentioning it to someone. She knew. She also knew how much Travis despised her and would have told her to stay away!

One last thing…I saw the nasty hooch of hers. These photos were shown in court LOL! Imagine how Jodi must have felt with everyone seeing that overused hooch and butt h#le? I love thinking about that. ( Am I allowed to say that on here? If not, I’m truly sorry).

    That’s all.

This is a strange thing that I think, but I don’t think jodi was too embarrassed by those pix. I’m probably totally wrong, but I think she probably thinks she’s all that. She’s so disgusting. I think she took those pix herself. Gross b#tch. Sorry for the swear word, but she gets me so mad!

We keep thinking that somehow she transferred those pictures onto TA’s camera because we remember when they were shown in court the guy who retrieved the pictures said that the ones of TA in the shower had date and time stamps and the others didn’t. That just seemed very strange to us.

      • 05/01/2013 at 1:26 am

CC’sC… I think she took them on the sofa bed downstairs. If you look at the shots of her in comparison to the two she takes of Travis as she comes up the stairs his bed is much higher than whatever she was on.

I think she slept on the sofa bed downstairs.. and took those pics on that.. then went upstairs and that first one is Travis sleeping.. the second is as he wakes up. There is so much more sheet visible in the ones she is in it makes sense it could be on the sofa bed because they are generally a lot lower than a regular bed.

      • 05/01/2013 at 1:29 am

another interesting thing about her shots… I specifically went back to them to view her lower leg.. looking for duct tape or duct tape markings as to where she might have been playing ninja and had the knife attached to her lower leg.

Interestingly.. no one of them shows her legs below her knees.. in fact all are cut off above her knees.

wow he looks just like I expected. Should not judge a book by it’s cover but it is quite easy to jump to the conclusion of why Juan did not call him to testify. With his allegiance to Jodi and that look of defiance to authority about him… he’d be a bit of a firecracker (or should I say loose cannon?) you could readily imagine.

    That’s all.

Ohhhhh yuk!! We debated about looking at them but we read everyone’s comments and that was descriptive enough!! Yukkkkk……JA at her shining moment in court!! Hah…..backfired on her BIG TIME!!

      05/01/2013 at 1:23 am

I really don’t think Jodi thought shed get away with it after getting caught. I think she wanted to re-kill Travis. I think she’s been happy about what this has done to him in her mind. She seems to be on drugs in in order to keep her calm and looking like the wounded 12 year old she likes to portray herself to be.

      • 05/01/2013 at 1:41 am

Kristy.. she doesn’t need drugs…. she can switch into whatever persona she thinks best suits her situation. The difference is it’s all shallow… surface.. because it’s impossible to imitate the correct affect or emotional state if you don’t have the emotions or understanding of the correct emotions in you. This rings to her very low EQ. People with her disorder have little or no emotional range… it’s all limited to selfish need and anger.

That’s why she looks all wrong.. she tries to outwardly portray one image.. but has no idea how to conjure or portray the correct emotions to go with it.

Hey does anyone know if Juan can bring his expert? I’ve said from the start of the Gaff-ner cr@p that in a just world it should be the case but as legal-ese stated even the surreal-rebuttal is rare let alone then balancing it with Juan’s expert.

And what about this “cos I’m a neuropsychologist I can now do the ME’s job as well” how did that go?….. that’s LUDICROUS to me!!! But then what isn’t about the DT’s ‘strategy’ in this trial.

Syn, The hearing was sealed so during the last update with Beth Karas she said that we don’t know if the defense was given permission to have Gaffcrap rebut Dr Horn’s testimony. Syntara :
hmmm ok let me again refer you to the interrogation videos… wow they are SO important to someone like me i can’t thank those detectives enough for bringing it all out!

Wow! Holy Hell! Here’s a shining example of why your input is so important- This insight gave me goose bumps (literally).

I had planned on digging into a new book tonight and getting to bed early, to get up EARLY so I can take care of the babies and barn chores before the trial starts tomorrow – but now I’m entrenched in your notes and watching video inter 2- incredible! Janeen Driver reluctantly admitted tonight that she believes that Judge Stephens body language shows that she favors the defense. (this was from the 2 days that she spent in court observing) I find that a little bit worrisome. Do any of you get that sense at all?

    • 05/01/2013 at 2:37 am

Judge Stephens seems to have some kind of friendship with Willmott. I have no idea how founded that is.. perhaps Donchais has some history in that area.. but by body language and behaviourisms it presents that way.

There has been a recent change though and that is since Judge Stephens seemingly out of patience statements to LaLa. It was FAR more obvious before then.. now I rarely detect it. I’ve never deliberately looked for it.. but it was soo obvious before then that I was forced to notice it.

      • Kristi
        05/01/2013 at 10:19 am

I don’t think much stock should be put in the friendliness between judges and attorneys. Willmot is a public defender so she likely sees this judge several times a week or month on a variety of cases, as does Martinez as a DA. It’s natural for them to get friendly, they’ve all probably known each other for many years. Most of their cases are probably minor, DUIs, drug offenses, etc without the emotional baggage of this case.

I agree antisocial is the best fit for what we know of Jodi, but I am bother by one thing and I hope Syntara will help me out with it…. Jodi is most definitely faking her emotions in court, and the interview tapes are unbelievably cold, but before the murder we here a lot of references to her crying. Travis said it a few times in texts, her parents too. If she is antisocial/psychotic and her go to manipulation was tears why the change up for trial? By the same token a BPD would not be able to hold back the tears during this trial.

    • 05/01/2013 at 2:33 am

Crying is part of her manipulation as is the ‘suicide’. Evidence: Look how she uses “crying’ in court. You will have your answer. It is a very easy way for a woman to elicit a sympathetic response. She is a master manipulator. This very basic tool would have been learned a long long long LOOOONG time ago. Would have been one of her apprenticeship additions.

I suggest regarding her ‘crying’ the Hughes’ would answer you along these lines too.

      • Carolyn
        05/01/2013 at 11:12 am

I have never seen any actual tears come out of her eyes. When she appears to be crying, all she does is wipe her nose. Strange.

    • 05/01/2013 at 2:44 am

btw she is NOT psychotic.. that’s a completely different diagnosis entirely

    • 05/01/2013 at 2:46 am

also read his texts to her.. he doesn’t believe her tears by the end of it.. he has woken up to them being just for manipulation.

Apologies in advance if this is a duplicate. I just found this article, it calms my nerves about the mismanagement of this trial. thank you mr lawyer. I lost the link so I can’t put his name on here. Urhgggggg,

As the Jodi Arias criminal trial winds down, I have to go out on a limb and make my prediction.

I have tried a lot of cases and have a good sense of which way a criminal case will usually break. Figuring out the Jodi Arias case is compounded by the notoriety of the case and the media coverage (some might say obsession).

The trial has certainly been high-profile, reminding us of past cases like OJ Simpson, the Menendez Brothers, and Casey Anthony, where the case takes on a life of its own in the media. This is even more complicated in the Arias trial by the 24-hour news coverage of the trial and all of its twists and turns, along with the impact of social media. It is hard for the court to prevent the jury from exposure to the media or social media influence.

As a former prosecutor, it pains me to watch a criminal trial so poorly managed. It is not an accurate reflection of day-to-day criminal trials, and no matter what – the trial judge bears the responsibility for this chaos. Some commentators have suggested that she is forced to incur delays and defense requests for sidebars and other ridiculous delay tactics because this is a death penalty case and she has to bend over backwards to protect the record. That point is seriously misguided.

Plenty of trial judges have conducted death penalty cases in an efficient manner without losing control of the trial. Judge Stephens has demonstrated that she is in over her head and does not have the temperament nor the intellectual capability to run an efficient trial, most especially a death penalty trial.

While I have not observed the jury and its responses to the parties, I am sure the jury is on the side of the prosecutor Juan Martinez. Why? His work before the jury has been dedicated to reminding the jury to focus on the evidence and the truth of what occurred. Jodi Arias committed a brutal murder of Travis Alexander, leaving behind a gruesome crime scene.

From press reports, the jury is distracted or less attentive when the defense questions witnesses. This reflects the jury’s determination that defense questioning is not helpful to them in assessing the testimony of various witnesses. Defense questioning focuses on picayune and immaterial issues, with little regard to an overall theme or defense. It is incredible to watch such misleading and obviously ineffective questioning of witnesses. A good defense attorney knows how to make their points, weave together a defense, and do something even more effective – make your points and then sit down and move on.

One of the most important pieces of evidence – which surely reflects Arias’ premeditation – was her borrowing and purchase of gas cans for her trip from California to Mesa, Arizona where she murdered Travis Alexander. She did so with the obvious intent to avoid detection on her return trip after committing the murder. This is a fact which prosecutor Martinez has not devoted adequate time reminding the jury in cross-examination of the defense expert witnesses.

It was amazing to watch a very effective government rebuttal witness – Dr. Demarte – as she decimated the defense experts in two-days of testimony. She was an excellent witness, very well prepared and deft at handling inept defense questioning (I especially loved when she explained to defense counsel that there was no way for her to find out what Travis Alexander meant in his emails, texts and instant messages because he was dead).

The jury questioning of witnesses is a significant barometer of who they believe and who they do not believe – Jodia Arias, Dr. Samuels and LaViolette – were asked hundreds of questions, many of them hostile.

In the end, aside from the sheer brutality of the murder, the ineffective defense questioning of witnesses, and the sponsoring of completely incompetent “expert” witnesses, Dr. Samuels and LaViolette, the case will boil down to the defendant’s own credibility.

Given the series of lies surrounding Jodi Arias, her addiction to immature publicity ploys and her eighteen day “performance” on the witness stand, no reasonable juror will ever credit her self-defense story. Trust me – she is a borderline personality, a danger to society, and she will be convicted of first degree murder.

For Travis Alexander and his family, this result will be little consolation for the taking of his life. Justice may be served but their loss will always be with them.

    • 05/01/2013 at 2:49 am

Anniefreeze! This is great stuff! It was worth me coming back just to ensure I saw this post alone. I disagree that she has borderline personality disorder 😀 she lacks the emotional turmoil that goes with that… but i’ll forgive you on that one.

      • 05/01/2013 at 3:16 am

        I believe she is ASPD+P

the P being psychopath.. when I scored the Jodistein character against Hannibal Lector character… I gave jodistein 2 benefits of the doubts… that lowered her from the highest score possible (40) to 38.

On the PCL I believe in texas anything above 28 on the PCL for male inmates renders them a never to be released. Which is surpirsing because in the way the PCL-R is scored 30 and above qualifies as the scale score to be deemed a pscyhopath.

Psychopath is basically a human without a conscience. You can’t get worse. Well nobody has ever found worse and it’s not human as we know it, so I don’t see how you can get worse. It’s basically a doppelgänger… something living in a human shell.

Syn — Above, I asked: How many cracks at an excuse does the defense get in one trial?
and you replied (in part): “Legitimate claims or claims you want taken seriously cannot be based on events never took place or likely never took place when classified under reasonable doubt.”

We are saying the same thing.

Note, I said they were putting up a litany of EXCUSES, but nothing even remotely associated with accepting responsibility or providing legitimate, possibly even understandable explanations; such a statement clarifies I absolutely DO NOT buy any of those diagnoses, because I do not buy any of the lies those diagnoses are predicated upon.

I can accept, in theory, that all who are accused deserve a vigorous defense, and, God forbid, should I ever find myself of the wrong side of a courtroom, I’m sure I would think said theory is just about the greatest thing I’ve ever heard of. What I CANNOT accept, in theory and certainly not in practice, is providing a defense founded entirely on lies, deceit, innuendo, trickery, threats, manufactured evidence, facts twisted until they are so far from the truth they are unrecognizable, words taken so far out of context they have no relation to their original meaning, using hired guns who, for the sake of a paycheck, are willing to help weave a fanciful tale with no basis in reality, then testify to it on the stand. The most disturbing thought of all is that an entire defense team — attorneys, mitigation specialists, expert witnesses who apparently were once respected in their chosen field, will allow a client who is not only admittedly guilty of an indefensible crime but a known liar, control and direct the entire defense based on these falsehoods. And when one of their lies fails, they get chance after chance to re-manipulate the lies and excuses and try to sell them again.

So, again, my question is, how many times is the court going to allow the defense team to switch excuses within the same trial? Where is the limit? What happened to professional ethics? It is distressing to see attorneys take such egregious actions all in the name of providing a “vigorous defense” for their client; that canon should not be translated as lie, cheat, and steal, whatever it takes, as long as your client doesn’t have to pay for their crime. The fact is, some people are guilty and deserve to be punished accordingly.

  109. 05/01/2013 at 6:18 am

ya I know we are saying the same thing in different ways Schaeff… I was more referring to you saying each negated the other… I was just saying yes they did.. but even worse they negated themselves as well ie they didn’t need the other one to do it for them.

I think the worst thing though is Perky. because of Perky’s pitiful research and knowledge base on the very issue her own defense is ‘built’ .. that being psychology and irrelevant psychology at that… has necessitated them to try to conjure a phoenix from the ashes and this is going to fail dismally. Gaff by name gaff by nature me thinks.

I simply do not see how it has been allowed. But that’s for the legally minded amoung us to explain I guess and as yet they seem as confused as we outside the inner workings.

So glad to see you back Syn. Now what about Chrissie, are you coming back too? Found Opening Statements on YouTube this morning on my bus trip into work. I started watching this trial around the time Dr Rob Lowe Horne was testifying so missed the earlier days. Juan was talking about photos of TA and WOBO in the act of having sex and then other photos of the cavernous orifice and Pocahontas lying on the bed. BTW I played Pocahontas in a school play many moons ago and I was nothing like THAT !!! Anywho, I had come to believe that WOBO made up (read lied about) the “we had sex” and that there hadn’t been any at all and the pics of TA were taken surreptitiously. Juan definitely said in opening statements that there are pics of the two of them in the sex act. But I’ve never come across those, has anyone seen them?

    • 05/01/2013 at 7:53 am

It may be how he describes them.. cos Det Flores describes them in a similar way. If there were any other than we have seen they don’t seem to have been entered.

Jodi probably smiles every time she hears anyone say they had sex that day. Unless there are more pics I don’t reckon they did have sex but I do think she took those photos to make everyone think they did.

KNOWING THE ROOMMATES CAN ASSIST IN UNDERSTANDING CERTAIN DETAILS ABOUT THE RELATIONSHIP THAT EXISTED BETWEEN TRAVIS VICTOR ALEXANDER AND JODI ANN ARIAS. Both Jodi Arias and Travis Alexander had roommates in 2006. During that year, each one lived in separate residences for that entire year. Jodi Arias resided in Palm Desert, California for the entirety of 2006, and Travis Alexander resided in Mesa, Arizona for the entirety of 2006. Each one owned their own home. Mr. Alexander owned his Homestead as an individual. Jodi Arias shared homeownership with Darryl Brewer.

While it is not of any import to know any of the roommates of Mr. Alexander from 2006, it is important to know any roommate of Jodi Arias in 2006. Since Jodi Arias is a pathological liar, the declarations she made that she had a roommate had to be corroborated. Her statements, attesting to a living arrangement with a roommate, have been verified. Not only do records support this fact, but it also has been corroborated by the person she has claimed was her one and only roommate, Darryl Brewer. He has admitted that he was indeed a roommate of Jodi Arias for almost the entirety of 2006.

They had combined their savings and purchased a residence in June of 2005. So, they had been roommates since that time. Initially, they met, on October 20, 2001, when he interviewed her for a job [as a server] at the Ventana Inn and Spa, in Monterey, California (in the Big Sur area). However, they never lived together until they purchased the home in Palm Desert. While they have both stated they dated each other in the interim, it has not been documented that they even lived in the same cities when they were dating off-and-on before the purchase of that home. What can be surmised is that they did not know each other that intimately, except for a hook-up now-and-then, since significant flaws had not been discovered [by either one] until moving in with each other (after the purchase of their home, in June of 2005).

On the fourteenth day of Trial testimony, Jodi Arias said they had not lived together prior to buying the house. They had separate apartments. They had moved to Monterey, where they were working at separate jobs [and had the separate apartments]. She could not recall the exact point in time, but she and Darryl entered into a monogamous relationship and became girlfriend and boyfriend. On the stand, she stumbled on her recall of that event. She tried to explain away the reason she could not remember when they had entered into their monogamous relationship, by first offering the explanation that Darryl was very nervous. As she looked around and seemed to get more confused on the stand when not being able to recall the time they had become boyfriend and girlfriend or had entered a monogamous relationship, she announced [she had remembered] they had celebrated as soon as he was out of his supervisory role, at around which time their monogamous boyfriend-girlfriend relationship had become 0fficial — around that time. However, she had inferred earlier that this was not the time their relationship became official. Eventually, it got to a point when she said she realized she was in love with Darryl. Nevertheless, she could not remember the exact moment (and she again looked stumped trying to come up with the time). Then, she said it was a gradual process where her crush had become more and more, and she had come to love his son. So, she stated they had progressed in that regard.

She failed to address the reason she would not have noticed a matter that she found offensive. One flaw in particular should have been noticed immediately, if they had a close relationship prior to becoming roommates. Jodi Arias has made reference to the grandparents of an individual by the name of Bobby, who she has identified as her first love. She has stated that both of his grandparents had an unseemly habit of smoking. The putrid smell drove her to distraction. Additionally, she was appalled by the nicotine and tar that could be left in the residence by the smokers. It seemed as though she could not settle down in Bobby’s grandparents’ home until they became ill and had to be removed because the smoke bothered her that much. She had a similar problem with her own grandparents. She spoke about that on the stand. The cure was that both of her grandparents stopped smoking. So, they did not need to be moved into an old folks home to accommodate her.

Darryl Brewer on the other hand could not be moved out (even though he had this very serious flaw). She had to keep him around to pay his share of the bills and provide whatever else she would need from a male roommate [with no strings attached, as Darryl Brewer repeatedly stated he made it a point to tell her he was not going to marry her]. On top of his addiction to nicotine (which was considered a deplorable habit by Jodi Arias), he was an alcoholic. Although she had admitted she knew he drank, she stated she had no knowledge of his alcoholism until he told her (after they had moved in together, when purchasing a home). Thus, they certainly did not have any type of ongoing intimate relationship other than an occasional hook-up (before the home purchase). The representation in the media or by a slew of defense attorneys [of a closer bond] is patently false. If the media and criminal lawyers were to honestly report the truth of the matter, they would have to describe Darryl Brewer as something akin to that which Travis Alexander would have called a “dildo with a heartbeat”.

Darryl Brewer was a scheduled witness for the defense on the tenth day of Trial testimony [directly after Gus Searcy]. According to the sworn testimony of Darryl Brewer (who was a perennial inhabitant of the State of California [although in different municipalities] who then lived in Carmel, California), he had moved out of the staff housing at the Ventana Inn, in 2003, when he moved to Monterey. A couple years later, he entered into a business relationship with Jodi Arias (wherein they purchased a home together). He would subsequently lose that home to a foreclosure and move back to Monterey, in December of 2006 (although Jodi Arias would not leave the home until February of 2007). He provided more information about the areas where he lived by stating those areas where he had never lived. He told the Jurors he had never been in Phoenix before, and had never even been in the State of Arizona before providing his Trial testimony. So, he had never accompanied Jodi Arias when she went on her jaunts to the neighboring State of Arizona where Mr. Alexander resided ([and where she went to visit only one time in 2006, in December] and also one time in [June of] 2008, when she killed Mr. Alexander with such brutality that there are some who have questioned whether she could have committed the crime alone).

It should not have come as a shock that the house Darryl Brewer and Jodi Arias jointly owned would be foreclosed because he had stated that, in the summer of 2006, Jodi Arias was experiencing grave problems, pulling her weight in paying her fair share of the bills (and she had started to use her credit cards to make the mortgage payments). He had noticed a dramatic change in her behavior in April or May of 2006. This was the time that their mortgage payment was ready to escalate (after the first year of payments). One way she used to relieve that [financial] stress was to get breast augmentation surgery [implants]. Next, she heard about a business opportunity that would create success, and she joined the group, Pre-Paid Legal. Darryl thought she was irresponsible and had magical thinking about getting money from Pre-Paid Legal. She was not working like she had at California Pizza Kitchen. And, the second job they always talked about was only held during the season. There was no work during the summer, when the business was closed. So, when either said she worked two jobs during the summer, that was not the truth. One job was never open during the summer months (and would only be slated to open after Labor Day).

Her relationship with Darryl Brewer was not one where they could explore an active sexual relationship whenever the couple desired intimacy, as they had separate bedrooms, although on occasion they could be friends with benefits. As asserted, under OATH, by Darryl Brewer, they had stopped being intimate during the summer. She was involved with Pre-Paid Legal, and getting to know people in the group. She told him she was saving herself for her husband. She was not talking about him because they never planned to marry and had never discussed marriage, other than when he had told her that he was not ready for marriage. The testimony of Jodi Arias provided a similar description of her relationship with Darryl as did Darryl’s with hers. Their relationship had become non-existent over the summer, and had suffered (along with their finances) from the beginning of the year [of 2006]. Although she still considered him to be her boyfriend, she was no longer interested in being sexually active with him. [Months later,] in September of 2006, she went with her friends to a Convention in Las Vegas. At that Convention, she met Travis Alexander. Even though testimony has been given to show they were having problems and were not a couple, she made a contradictory statement by stating she broke up with Darryl Brewer right after she got back from the Convention. She still professed her love for him. She said she loved him, but they had different visions for their futures and it was not going anywhere ‘cause she really loved him.

In a peculiar description of their sexually non-active relationship she stated “I don’t know or recall specifically why. Oh, Well Because we broke up. Yes. That would be why . . . but we didn’t have sex after convention. I remember that was, prior to that was the last time that we did”. This announcement did not rile Darryl Brewer, since he had already accepted where he stood. He was not aware of her relationship with Travis Alexander [or anyone else], since she had told him that she would be saving herself for marriage. Jodi Arias was getting actively involved, and studying the Book of Mormon [for her new faith]. There was no knowledge that she had set her eyes on Travis Alexander. It was just thought Jodi Arias had decided to become a Mormon.

Whether he wanted to or not, Darryl Brewer would play an integral role in the first week of June in 2008, which was the week of the murder of Travis Alexander. At that time, he lived in Pacific Grove (which is a hop, skip, and a jump from Monterey). He lived down the way from Matt McCartney, whom he had befriended when both had been employed at the Ventana Inn in 2002. Both Darryl Brewer and Jodi Arias testified that, at that time, his son [an only child] was with him, at his residence in Pacific Grove, and that on June 3, 2008, young Jack would be taken to another location where he attended school. Young Jack Brewer is probably the child that Jodi Arias claimed under her caretaker responsibilities, when telling Dr. Janeen DeMarte of all of her work experience. Jodi Arias claimed her role of a caretaker was from November of 2006 though January of 2007, even though young Jack lived with his mother [in Monterey], who was the primary custodial parent. Young Jack would have been the age of a child that Jodi Arias had asserted would have interested her friend, Mr. Alexander. Although she made several statements when making accusations of pedophilia, based on seeing only ONE picture of a little boy in his underwear, she never included her access to little boys who would have been the same age she had described for the little boy in that ONE picture she had viewed. However, Travis Alexander was never around this young boy, and only Jodi Arias [of the two, had access to this little boy].

Darryl Brewer and Jodi Arias continued to call each other occasionally in 2007. She had moved in with Matt McCartney [in the red house on the Ventana Inn property] after her house was foreclosed in February of 2007. She lived a short distance away from Darryl Brewer on the Monterey Peninsula. She lived with Matt, but she would visit John Dixon, Travis Alexander, and any other man who would see her. (By the time she moved out of the place where she lived with Matt McCartney, she had broken up with Travis Alexander [by phone, on June 29, 2007].) In 2008, she continued her sporadic friendship with Darryl Brewer. In May of 2008, he received a phone call from Jodi Arias for a favor. She asked for gas cans so that she could make a trip to Mesa, Arizona. In the first part of June, she called to ask again for these gas cans. Darryl Brewer asked her what the reason was, and she said she needed them for her trip. She got testy at that time about the questioning over the need for the gas cans. She eventually gave the answer of Mesa [as the true destination] in a second conversation in June.

She told Darryl Brewer she needed the gas cans in case she got lost. She went there on June 3, and they (the boyfriend, his son [Jack], and Jodi Arias) had breakfast together. This was at 7:00 that morning. {{According to the questioning of the prosecutor, Matthew McCarthy might have showed up there that morning.}} She called back at 9 or 10 that morning. Both Darryl Brewer and Jodi Arias have locked onto a story that she had returned to Pacific Grove around 10:00 that morning to allegedly give back a ‘remote control’ [the same size as a cellular phone]. Afterwards, she told him she was going to go south (from Pacific Grove) to visit his sister. This location was about 6 – 8 hours away. Darryl Brewer gave her two red gas cans, that were each 5-gallon cans. The prosecutor showed three receipts from the same ARCO gas station in Pasadena. Darryl Brewer’s gas cans were used, the evening of June 3, 2008, when Jodi Arias made her triple purchases at an Arco gas station [at 3706 East Foothill Boulevard] in Pasadena. Darryl Brewer’s gas cans were again used, the evening of June 6, 2008, when Jodi Arias made another triple purchase of gasoline, except this time at a Flying J gas station, at 1000 West Winnemucca in Winnemucca, Nevada.

Darryl Brewer identified his cell phone billing statement that showed his communication with Jodi Arias in those critical days involving the murder of Travis Alexander. This statement was admitted as Exhibit # 412, except it was sealed, so that it could not be viewed by the general public. It was Darryl Brewer’s sister, Laura Mahoney, who was used as the excuse for Jodi Arias to be around Pasadena. His sister, Laura Mahoney, lived in Los Angeles, and she had just had a baby. Jodi Arias had used the excuse that she headed in that direction to photograph the baby. Darryl testified to this, and Jodi Arias testified to this and told Detective Esteban Flores on the interview tapes. She covered her bases, by acting as though she were properly documenting the trip (but the lack of communication [in not using her cell phone] and not using her own vehicle [that had a GPS] are dead give-aways that the deception was just part of her plan.

When the prosecutor questioned Darryl Brewer on the tenth day of Trial testimony, he asserted [UNDER OATH] that he received a phone call, on June 4, 2008. It was Jodi, and she was hysterical. First, she reported she ran out of gas on her trip, somewhere in the desert. She told Darryl about her friend who got killed. She said her friend had been stabbed and shot.

Although Darryl Brewer had trouble recalling a certain event, the prosecutor made him remember that Jonathon Leach, met him and had dinner with him, to discuss a 48 hours interview. Jodi Arias wanted publicity and was going to try to generate money (out of the slaughter and the havoc she had created). And, it did not matter to her who she took down with her or who she hurt. This cold-blooded murderer showed no compassion to a man who is gone before his time. Based on the evidence and the facts of the case, it is time she get her just desserts.

Haven’t read upstairs yet but this popped up on my google alerts and I found it interesting.

    Jodi Arias Trial: Prediction
    April 30, 2013

bigariasAs the Jodi Arias criminal trial winds down, I have to go out on a limb and make my prediction.

That point is seriously misguided.ariaspreddiction3

Jodi Arias committed a brutal murder of Travis Alexander, leaving behind a gruesome crime scene.

ariasprediction2From press reports, the jury is distracted or less attentive when the defense questions witnesses.

Samuels and LaViolette – were asked hundreds of questions, many of them hostile.arias trial judge

Hi MMD, good morning to you, its Wednesday evening for me 🙂 This article you found is exactly how I think the jury will go and it was re-assuring to see a former prosecutor’s view on this. hey.,. Jim can probably answer this.. but anyone else who knows about guns also…. to ready a 25mm for firing what does it take? Surely it’s not ready to be fired as soon it comes out of s handbag .. or left on a shelf loaded and ready to be fired soon as the trigger is pulled.

I know zero about guns.. although apparently what I know is almost expert according to Jodistein’s testimony.. but unlike her I’m not delusional about my limitations… so please anyone… can you edumacate me on firing a 25mm once you pick it up.

I don’t remember testimony about this.. maybe I need to go back to the first days of the trial and re-listen. duh! :rolls:

Listening to Jodistein say she thought she was going to die.. and poor wittle Jodi apparently didn’t even cut her wittle handy wandy on the big knifey. *drips sarcasm*

Why does she deny the cut on her hand again? oh yeah cos she is using the wound she got killing him to make up the crap of him injuring her…. No conscience.. who would do that???

    • 05/01/2013 at 7:36 am

Hi ya, nfi about guns my dear – if anyone breaks into my house they’d better watch out cause my tennis racquet is my weapon of choice. They’ll get a big serve from me. 🙂

      • 05/01/2013 at 7:39 am

I always wonder what I’d do… I’d like to think I could be calm enough to strike up a dialogue.. but I think I’d be panicking too much so I just don’t know.

I’ve had some hair raising epxeriences that I have talked my way out of but I think someone in my own house would be a very different ball game (tennis anyone?) 😛

    • 05/01/2013 at 9:58 am

      Hi Syntara…very glad you’re back!
As to the gun. This .25 was a semi-automatic pistol. Most likely is simply had some sort of safety mechanism that had to be switched off, and then it would have been ready to fire.
And once again, I just want to mention, a .25 caliber is relatively rare in the world of guns. The common calibers are .22, .9m, .38, and, .45.

      • 05/01/2013 at 10:01 am

yes I know it’s rare.. Im just working on something at the moment and need exactly what it would take to be fired after being picked up.

      • 05/01/2013 at 1:35 pm

Again, just flipping off the safety switch…that’s all. Then pull the trigger and BOOM!

If only Travis’ roommates had checked on him sooner… then there would have been no liquification or softening of his brain and is wouldn’t just be a case of simple geometry the track could have been seen.

Many things went in Travis’ favour.. but this one didn’t it played into Jodisteins hands. Dr Horn should have had a skull.. with a brain sitting in it.. and demonstrated the trajectory just to make it perfectly clear and visual.

To him it’s obvious.. but to lay people not so much and can leave that doubt there because the brain was so softened there was no track. I understand to him it’s ludicrous to suggest it did not pass through his frontal lobe and I understand why.. plus of course if the bullet was first that casing is the magic bullet casing to be free of any tiny blood droplet let alone not being covered in blood.

Juan will no doubt have this covered in his closing anyhow. I’m sure in her special way MMD has let him know how we all need him to go through this clearly. 😀

  120. 05/01/2013 at 8:41 am

There is a wound on his stomach that we don’t see the photo referred to in the court footage but by Dr Horn’s estimates it’s 5 3/4 inches across…. done when he is alive… sheesh!! did she try to gut him too?????

    • Schaeffer
      05/01/2013 at 12:00 pm

It was a long wound track, but it was not a stab wound; it only penetrated the adipose tissue (the fat) not the muscles or the abdominal cavity, so, in the overall scheme of things, it was a superficial wound.

      • 05/01/2013 at 12:07 pm

ya it’s an incisesd wound nearly 6 inches across his stomach.. ie did she try to gut him?

  122. 05/01/2013 at 9:10 am

I hope the jury realise that if they give her the DP it’s gonna be ages before she gets it administered anyhow.. so even if she has miraculously managed to trick any of them into thinking she is human….. their thoughts are “well she won’t get the DP for decades anyhow so I have no hesitation giving it to her”.

Yes she is… it’s why I am using it! Never before have we had access to soo much information. I am not joking when I say Travis has left this world a legacy that has never been available before.

I am heart broken he had to give his life to do it, but I am heartened he is the first to give us this much needed case study. We have all the interrogation videos, the documentaries and the endless footage of her on the stand and in court behaviour.

She is my dream come true but at the same time she is my worst nightmare. We all owe Travis a greater debt than we realise.

I hope you are getting something from the book.

Depending on your interest level after you finish that one… I also recommend you grab the kindle version of Dr Robert Hare’s “Without Conscience” sometime. That’s the academic’s version but he wrote it specifically for lay persons.

No No.. baby bear also did.. remember he accuses her of breaking his chair and eating his porridge? I think he did that and blamed her.

wow the audacity of Jodistein is never ending.. She would know what is happening in that pic yet she seems to be trying to use it against the ME. Just like the cut on her finger when she was stabbing him became ‘evidence’ of his abuse of her .

OK got totally sidetracked there.. Just dumbfounded at what I am watching!

I most likely will. I am partial to books with a lot of footnotes I think; I actually read them. A friend of mine says that” if the author can’t fit it in, it dont belong there” and I always thinlkof him when I do go ‘back thjere.’ I even have a per peeve with authors who list the notes “by chapter” and you have to go to and fro trying to find tghe damn note. I very much like the ones that use “notes from pages 125- pages 145” kind of headings.
Sheridans is a good book for a layreader, you were right. I suppose if I had a gripe, I was saying things to myself like, “well, how do you know THAT” or “says who?” every so often, bu the intensity of the language and the broad and inclusive strokes, suggests the topic does need the clarity of good journalism as much as it needs good scholarship.

See Wendy–it isn’t the lack of coffee, its too much sometimes! I gotta blame soemthing for the miscues of spelling and grammar. Oh yeah I know–its this laptop and the small and clumsy keyboard. But meanings travel through the mess 🙂

One of the more valuable insights offered by the book -and by you of course – is the realization that psycopaths are not limited to those “in prison” or “convicted” or in the “movies.” They and their thinking and lack of empathy within, are spread throughout the culture. Waking up to thosetraits is a chore the author encourages and I think he is successfull.

    • 05/01/2013 at 9:57 am

yayaya as I noted to you originally.. I don’t know where he gets a lot of his information.. obviously a MUST from an academic stance. But it’s a very important subject and Sheridan reaches people others wouldn’t.

    05/01/2013 at 10:03 am

And I know we’ve talked of “Othello” but after reading on psycopaths, I have been given additional views on that characterization. Again, Shakespeare amazes with his insight. For hundreds of years, critics were stumpted. What makes the guy tick? Why does he cause such havoc? It has been called “motiveless malignity;” it has been called “jealousy” for the things of Othello or Cassio; it has been called the names from plays of the Middel Ages-like “Everyman” where people are “good” or or “greedy” or “evil” and thats their calling card. But looking at the play in light of the past 50 years of work in the behaviorial sciences, and you see almost a wobo. Details of Iago now jump out at me. The ways in which the character Iago acts as a sample of the ASPD + P is almost staggering in its lucidity and prescience..

    • 05/01/2013 at 10:11 am

YEs!!!!!! YES!!! and there are so many more in literature when you start looking for them or have the tools to recognise them. They are also in mythology, fairy tales, legends, religion… they have been documented in various forms for literally thousands and thousands of years.

      • 05/01/2013 at 10:13 am

also.. remember somewhere and I so need to find out exactly where.. but somewhere I know Jodi quoted Iago!

I don’t know if this is old news or not, unfortunately I can’t read this site as often as I’d like.
It seems like Jodi actually did make to see Othello in 2008 (with brown hair, no less!). There’s a picture on her myspace page with the actor who portrayed Othello in the Oregon Shakespeare Festival and he started with the group in 2008.

Probably old news but maybe someone hasn’t seen it yet.

OK Im watching the witness about the gun and the firing of it… and also the ballistics and what happens to ignite it to enable it to eject out of the barrel… ya this is why the frontal lobe would have been damaged even without penetration… not only the projectile itself but the forces surrounding it that enabled it to leave that barrel at such a high velocity. I think they are going to try to disregard this and just say it might have missed the brain.

But…. As Dr Horn pointed out.. the bullet in the front of the skull is very different from an arrow or a dart even an axe penetrating that area.

  137. 05/01/2013 at 10:39 am

ya in this early stage of the trial Perky is overtly all smiles to Judge stephens..

Nurmi is asking something interesting. He is requesting Dr Horn not be released from his subpoena “because WE may need to recall him” .. IE The defense …. sooooo Im thinking Jodi is going.. “no no no I shot him first”…. and Nurmi is thinking.. “ok I’m going to find evidence that proves it and get that ME back on the stand” …. he couldn’t… so the defense never recalled Dr Horn.

When Jodi states Travis came after in the bathroom and the gun fired and she dropped it…the gun isn’t going very far…if all she states is true and Travis kept going why wouldn’t he get the gun and use it.?? that never made sense to me

    • 05/01/2013 at 10:59 am

he was shot in the frontal lobe… he wouldn’t even have been able to think.. or walk. No more needs said.

I have been reading and learning through this extremely intelligent and comprehensive blog related to the Travis Alexander murder case. I thank Donchais for the committment and diligence in creating and maintaining an environment to share facts and conversation related to this horrific tragedy. My sincere prayers and condolences go the family of Travis Alexander as they are subjected to the disgusting character assassination of their beloved brother through the complete lies of JA. I pray this jury sees the truth through the mountains of complete lies brought forth by this DT. In my heart,I feel they have…..but only time will tell as the verdict awaits.I have recommended this website to my own family members who have had questions as to some of the details.I have just a few questions that linger…if any members here can contribute…I thank them in advance…First–Is JA left handed or righthanded?….Second–Where is this pitiful person,JA,getting the art supplies necessary to supposedly render all this artwork she is selling?(I do not believe for one second she creates this herself)…Lastly, just a statement of my beliefs…JA arrived at TA’s home with that knife and gun in premeditation. Her past history of slicing THREE sets of automobile tires clearly shows she possessed a weapon capable of that destruction, and I believe that is exactly what she used…I also feel she disposed of both weapons IN the Hoover Dam…not in any desert approaching it..that would be a decision she made to bolster her ego and her grandiose twisted legacy to match all of the other psychopathic tendencies she choses to live her so called life by….
