I can’t relax with this wait. I am making clouds sculptures from Martinez on my mind. As CC stated I also don’t comment too much here but I am reading over and over the comments posted by you, MMD e other regulars on posting and make me feel as part of his great Donchais’ family. Feels good.

      • 05/05/2013 at 2:33 pm

I’m finding impossible to relax… almost like my subconscious is buzzing with a mild electrical charge.

Donchais, i want to thank you for your recaps and I will continue to follow always after this case. Because my work I couldn’t most the times watch the trial but I knew that you will give me the colorful insight of the whole craziness. Today I am here nervous with this wait but I trust the the justice will prevail. It is hard to imagine anything contrary.

I echo Regina’s sentiment. Thank you, Donchais … I am more of a lurker and have only commented here and there (and mostly today, it seems!) but I read here diligently … And thank you for providing the sandbox, 👏

I just finished listening to Chris Hughes on Tricia’s True Crime Radio. EVERYONE should listen. This is so powerful and moving, and it so opens your eyes to what JA saw in Travis and why she never wanted to let him go. I am not trying to emphasize the JA side of things but even from Chris’ perspective you can see what a pure heart Travis had. When the trial and verdict are in, and JA is forgotten, we will be able to have the fog that is JA roll away and see the beautiful rainbow that is left and that is the true Travis without all JA’s lies, a man who overcame so much adversity and wanted to help others and who understood life and what it took to live fully with God’s plan and guidance. Just leaves me in awe! Please take the time to listen. It is almost 3 hours long but well worth it. Thank you Chris for sharing it all with us.

Syn- I brought this over from the video response. I wrote you a reply before I realized we had a brand spanking new sandbox!
The video cutting off the response was frustrating! “cliff hanger”! You had a good catch, pointing out Wurmster’s well timed objection- completely obvious cue to JA!
We all know JA has been leading her own defense, and with her 112 IQ, she should have just stuck to doodling her crap motel art. I’ve lost count of many times I’ve heard the defense ask idiotic Q’s that clearly came from JA’s little notes in court “Ooh, ooh, Jenny! Ask them this! It’s a really good question! I’m super smart!!!”

waaa it cuts off her would it surprise you? answer
What a fark up by Nurm this whole clip shows.. the bullshite that she tried to pull that it wasn’t salinas… lol that was her scribbling notes the other day.. I said let her cos if they listen to her they are gonna be sorry… well ya der obviously they couldn’t even remember her testimony either!! What fools! This could well be her undoing when jurors are asked what was the turning point for you.
    PLUS
The Nurm tries to coach her near the end there… when he says “objection there is no indication it was gas used” ie giving Jodi the hint to say it was something else.. ironically the Tesoro woman said only gas was sold at that time so even Nurm’s prompt was a major farkup! But this doesn’t show she followed up on his prompt anyhow.. but that’s not the point if she had it wouldn’t have been even worse for her!

    • 05/05/2013 at 2:25 pm

Based on the intelligence of a lot of the jury questions, they won’t aquit after one day of deliberating, but they could definitely convict her. I’m trying to convince myself haha.

      • Family of Law
        05/05/2013 at 3:19 pm

Eeeeeee… I have so many mixed emotions about wanting a speedy verdict! I keep thinking about the OJ jury coming back in just under 4 hours, and the Casey Anthony jury only deliberating for just under 11 hours… I was SO certain that guilt beyond “reasonable doubt” had been proven in both of those cases! I appease myself with these thoughts 1. Juan is a master class prosecutor! And he provided HEAPS and PILES of evidence. 2. The defense had nothing more than JA’s lies, and NO hard evidence. JA is a liar, JA is a liar and JA is a LIAR. 3. Juror Q’s proved they were very astute, and paying close attention.

        Pins and needles… Nonetheless.

      • Crystal Harris
        05/05/2013 at 4:11 pm

It’s my understanding from lots of trial watching that there is a “sweet spot” for jury deliberations. It’s conventional wisdom (for what that’s worth) that it’s really hard for a jury to send someone to prison…esp for life. So they will go over every piece of evidence and be very diligent, which takes a long time in a trial of this length. On the other hand, if a jury is going to acquit, they can do it quickly because they are not sending someone to prison. And on the third hand, super long jury deliberations may start to mean that there are holdouts and we could end up with a hung jury.

      • ringadingding
        05/05/2013 at 7:27 pm

I expect an early verdict, but it could be that after all these months, the jurors want to talk about it just for the release. On the other hand, don’t some juries take a straw poll to see where they stand? If it’s all 12 guilty, then there’s no reason to keep going over the evidence.

Did anyone notice that on the tape that was posted on the previous page (the one showing Nancy Grace) that JA gives the notebook that she has be scribbling in to the mitigation specialist and she puts it in her purse. Is that how these drawings are getting out? Slimy all of them.

At least we will not have to listen to any more trashing of Travis and all the sexual words that Recliner guy and Wingnut get off on. Maybe they should all open a firm/college together Dr. Dodgy, Latoilette, Recliner Guy, Wingnut and Geffner. Whatever will they call it any suggestions?

    • 05/05/2013 at 2:56 pm

Yeah, it should be pretty cut and dry. The longer they deliberate, the more I’d be concerned they are getting distracted by side issues.

I’m pretty sure that this woman has been responsible for the flow of “art/sewage” that’s made it out of the courtroom throughout this trial. It may have already been covered here, but several weeks ago on a YouTube video Miss Mitigation clearly slides a folded piece of paper from Hodi over towards her mom. Her mom puts her hand on it and slides it away. Miss Miti first looks all around to see if she’s being watched, not knowing that the camera, for some reason, was still running after court was over. If there was nothing wrong with doing it, why not just hand it to her, right out in the open?
Hi, everyone. I wish I’d found this site before now. Lots of thoughtful conversation, not a bunch of dopes who want to say “clever” things and don’t really know/care anything about the trial or Travis.

Can somebody explain to me what the mitigation specialist is suppose to do? Maybe is too late to ask but I noticed how much she enjoys Hoho. She also smiled with Wurmi’s joke about not liking Ho. I don’t like her. Sorry if it is repetitive question.

    • Jay
      05/05/2013 at 4:10 pm

She’s an advocate, required in AZ by law, to speak for defendants in capital murder cases, to plead for mitigating sentences if found guilty. They are considered an essential component of the defense team, and failure to include them has in the past resulted in guilty verdicts getting overturned by higher courts.

An Advocate has to be in court during the trial to establish a rapport with the defendant,so that he or she will seem genuine when pleading for reduced sentencing. cozying up to the defendant is a necessary part of the job. If JAs MS treated her coolly or disparagingly in court that could be cited on appeal.

Bad mouthing her for doing her job is as nonsensical as cursing out the jail matron who gives Arias her lunch bag in court each day. She’s an officer of the court.Thinking she’d jeopardize her job, benefits, associations in the community, and risk fines and other sanctions from the judge by smuggling out Arias’ artwork is far fetched.

Watching Nazi Grace. If I have to hear the scum sucker sing anymore, or that sex tape I’ll hurl. Funny thing about her American Jailbird Idol song. It’s about Christ…She is truly evil. Think I’ll watch Juan’s closing again…drink myself to sleep, and wake up to watch HLN all day. Dr. Drew was on Howard Stern the other day, but I didn’t hear the interview. That song she sang in jail was also one of the songs she sang while she was sitting in the interview room in Yreka. I think the contest in jail was actually at Christmas time, and they were competing for a real Christmas dinner as the prize.

Once again, the comments are closed for the day, but I wanted to respond to a couple of things.

Crystal commented re: jurors being ousted based on questions they asked . . . . “there is truly no way the defense knew which juror asked which question. . . Anyone who thinks so is being paranoid.”

Thank You! I have said this repeatedly. The questions are passed to the end of each row, where the person nearest the “question basket” places them. Some have suggested shuffling the questions before asking them so the defense (or the prosecution for that matter) wouldn’t know who submitted each question; this would completely defeat the purpose of jury questions.

The questions have to be asked in the order in which they were submitted, because they are submitted in the same order as the testimony. Those poor jurors would never be able to match the questions and answers to the testimony if they were in no particular order.

They asked WOBO 205 questions, and submitted them (essentially) in the order in which she testified. She would STILL be on the stand if the jurors were having to flip through their notes trying to match up the answers she gave with her prior testimony! Add in the questions for Samuels and ALV and we’d never get done.

    • Schaeffer
      05/05/2013 at 3:09 pm

As an example — Think how frustrating it is trying to go back through this blog when you’re trying to find something you want to review — if you don’t have a pretty good idea of what day you are looking for, it can be extremely frustrating! Hell, I don’t even know where half the stuff I posted is, and if it’s something someone else posted, forget it!!

      05/05/2013 at 7:33 pm

It’s not the case with juror #5, at least not according to court watchers who said she sat right in front of the basket and was a regular contributors of questions. I suspect that not all of the jurors were asking questions. Even if they were handing them down to the end of the row, it would be clear who the most prolific question-writers are.

I would also like to ask this fine group … and again, apologies if it has been asked before. When I was watching JM’s closing arguments last night (yes, what a glamorous life I do lead) I could not help noticing Perky’s eye rolls and head shaking. I know the demon skank would do so but I thought attorneys could not do this lest they’re held in comtempt. What am I missing? From the perpetual BarcaLounger to Perky’s springing up and halfway to the bench while chirping “may we approach?” to eye rolls and head shaking from the DT … are they just allowed to do whatever they wish in the courtroom without fear of legal repercussions?

    • Crystal Harris
      05/05/2013 at 4:17 pm

Generally, the answer is No. But it depends on what the Judge lets them get away with.

      • 05/05/2013 at 4:28 pm

Thank you, Crystal. This judge has been very lenient with the DT. It is incredibly disrespectful, nevertheless.

    • Schaeffer
      05/05/2013 at 4:45 pm

Apparently they were in this trial. Judge Stephens really should have cracked down on making EVERYONE observe courtroom decorum. As officers of the court, Wurmi should not have been lounging around in his chair, and Willnott should not have been throwing her papers around and muttering under her breath when she was overruled or ruled against, and neither Wurmi, JW, or the mitigation specialist should have been passing notes and gossiping with WOBO. WOBO’s mother and aunt yukking it up, laughing and pointing and talking to each other, was ridiculous. I don’t even think the aunt was listening to the court proceedings on her head phones; I think she was just listening to music. Maybe I’m old fashioned, but I could not believe a dress code was not enforced, either; I do not think it is appropriate to show up in court, even as an observer, in a ratty old t-shirt and flip flops. I’ve been a court clerk, and that would not have been tolerated by the judges I knew.

And of course WOBO treated the entire experience as one long field trip. She was supposed to be in court to assist in her defense, period. However, she acted as if it was just a get out of jail everyday free card. She should NOT have been allowed to write, draw, sketch, doodle, and color anytime she was bored or didn’t like the witness. She even admitted on the stand “Sometimes I don’t pay attention, I zone out.” If her attorneys could not control her, the judge should have. She should only have been allowed to write something if it applied directly to the proceedings, and that would not include making snarky comments about a witness; that right is reserved for those of us who are NOT on trial for murder and can comment in the privacy of our own homes. There are apparatuses for restraining the hands of a defendant, and they should have been used.

The ironic and saddest thing is that the Alexander family did observe proper courtroom etiquette at all times. They were dressed up every day, they paid attention, and I personally never saw them even whisper to each other during the proceedings. They adhered to the admonition against showing emotion or making any outbursts, and if anyone was entitled to show emotion, it was Travis’s family and friends. The judge should have had better control of the courtroom, and should sanction the members of the defense team for their continued unprofessional behavior.

      • 05/05/2013 at 4:54 pm

I agree with everything you said! Maybe I am old-fashioned, too. So, since the judge has allowed it can she herself be subject to any repercussions or is it pretty much “her court room” and she can run it as she pleases? It is ASTOUNDING to me, really.

      • Crystal Harris
        05/05/2013 at 5:23 pm

It is the Judge’s courtroom and she can run it as she pleases….like her own little fiefdom.

I remember when my husband was on trial and his defense consisted of calling me a liar, saying I loved being raped, and that I set him up because I’m greedy….my whole family and friends sat in court every day and had to listen to all this evidence, watch him testify, etc. My sister got kicked out of court two different days for nothing more than unknowingly rolling her eyes, sighing, etc. It was much less than anything I’ve seen in the Arias court. Yet my sister was kicked out of the courtroom!! So take that for what it’s worth.

This was the JA show doncha know!!!!! She ran everything from her DT to her family and friends. The buck ALWAYS stops with the judge but not in this case. She allowed anything and everything. People have been saying that it’s because this is a DP case so that’s why she’s been do lenient. My hineybutt!!! This is a court of law and the actions of everyone were as a direct result of her. She didn’t show a drop of backbone until this past Wednesday when she finally cracked the whip. To little too late. The defense side was reprehensible simply because the judge allowed it.

I thought I had heard it all until the judge one day was going over the schedule with the jurors. It was always my impression that when you were selected for jury duty, survived voir dire and made it to the actual jury, that your time belonged to the court not that court was at your convenience. When the judge wanted to know if they could work certain Fridays and could they start at 9 a.m. I nearly had a stroke. Whenever you’re in a courtroom, you do whatever the hell the judge, bailiffs, etc. tell you to do. Obviously not in Judge Stephens courtroom!!!! Even the bailiff who was supposed to be guarding JA and others from her was nowhere near her.

I watched some trial hearings from the Trayvon Martin case this week and this is a judge who isn’t going to be putting up with any crap. She doesn’t take breaks, expects things done by the date imposed, scheduled motion hearings for the weekends and you know that when she says something is going to start at 9 a.m. it will be starting at 9 or else the attorneys are going to be sanctioned. There won’t be any lounging around like Wurmi has been doing or giggling like Gidget and JA. It is a court of law and the proper respect should be shown by everyone. Remember the CA case, anyone in the gallery who even had the “appearance” of sleeping was escorted out. Plus Judge Perry ALWAYS stood along with everyone else for the jury!

Not once did I see JM or EF roll their eyes or even show the least bit of disrespect. They had a job to do, they did it, no matter how over the top the objections were. The most I ever saw JM do was clench and unclench his fists one day. No rolling of the eyes, no head shaking, no looks of disgust, etc. nada. The only thing missing from this trial was Judge Ito, circus clowns and the Dancing Ito’s!!!!

Hopefully with one DP case under her belt Judge Stephens will be more on the ball the next time and not so worried about being overturned on appeal. Sadly, I don’t think a damn thing will change with her.

getting off soapbox now. Had written a lot more but it disappeared into cyberspace. anyone finding it, please return to this comment. TY

      • 05/05/2013 at 7:44 pm

I totally agree with EVERYTHING you have written. And I am sick to death of people coming back with …. “well, it is a DP case and it needs to be done so there is no chance for appeal.” That logic is BS…you can still interpret the law and rule AND have control of your court room. They have made a mockery of this judge and I hope she remembers this when it is election time.

Thanks for posting the testimony on the gas can-return of the gas can. IMO, he did not forget she testified that she returned the can to the Salina’s store. Demonstration of a blatant lie by nurmi- our earlier discussion .

Hi Lisa- I agree, I don’t think Wurm forgot her testimony either, but he made a smarmy attempt to muddy up her testiphony for the benefit of the jury, casting “doubt”, hoping that even ONE juror would question “maybe it was returned to a different Walmart”? Yup, he lied, he lied many times IMO. He asked several leading questions, as did JW. But again, IMO neither of them will have the consequences of having the State filing charges. It’s done every day, that’s why the “Ethics of law” are so complicated. Lawyers really are “damned if they do, and damned if they don’t”. In response to a question on the previous page:

What gives me the greatest hope for a guilty verdict: the overall picture of Jodi as a liar. Most of what she says is uncorroberated by any reliable source. The only thing they have to rely on is the phone sex and the emails to show that 1) Travis was a bad guy and 2) Travis talked mean to her and called her unpleasant names. Those two things are the only reason for bringing Samuels and LaViolette into the case….diversions. Are those two things enough to warrant what she did to Travis? A REASONABLE person would say no.

And that is where guilty verdicts have gone down in the past major cases. What is REASONABLE doubt?

So what is my greatest concern for the possible lesser charge verdict? I am troubled by the shoot first/last issue. The ME was too wishy-washy with his testimony. He did not lay it out FORCEFULLY that Travis was shot last. With that being so, I don’t see why that is of enough significance to the prosecution’s case to make first/last a major point which could hang up the jury. Frankly, I think it makes a stronger prosecution case that she brought the gun, fired one shot, couldn’t for some reason (gun jammed, she dropped it?) fire another and then went for the knife. Big opportunity to show double premeditation….brought the gun, AND had time to reconsider before stabbing. Only the ME’s report holds them to the shot last theory and as I said, he did not inspire confidence for me.

It only takes one, as we all know, to turn this verdict into something that should not be!

From what I understood, the jurors have to decide if WOBO showed an intent to kill and from what I heard, sound like she did. The first attempt he was still fighting for his life, so she slit his throat and when he still continued to move she shot him in the head. That to me is the proof that she intended to kill him and therefore, the second and third strikes on Travis were premeditated. With all that, I don’t see that there is any verdict but 1st degree murder! Does anyone else see it the same way?

Re: the gas cans and the timeline

She purchased the gas can at 3:22 pm in Salinas. She testified she had to wait “quite a while” to get her nails done because she didn’t have an appt, and she returned the gas cans AFTER that. However, at 8:45 pm, she purchased enough gas for the car and all three gas cans in Pasadena. According to google maps, these cities are 304 miles/4 hours and 45 minutes apart, so she needed every bit of those 5 hours — more actually — to get from Salinas to Pasadena. When I put my timeline together, I commented she would have had to return the gas can before she ever left the store based solely on the times on the receipts. (I hadn’t recalled the testimony about getting her nails done, I just knew she had a lot of unaccounted for time that day.)

Syntara — about making a map during deliberations

In the US, this can be very, very tricky. Jurors are not allowed to “conduct experiments” or “bring in evidence” from the outside; they have to go strictly on what was presented in court. A couple of recent examples come to mind:

John Goodman: Convicted of DUI and vehicular homicide, filed for a mistrial because one of the jurors, in an effort to decide how drunk the guy really was, conducted his own “experiment.” At home one evening during deliberations, he drank the same amount of alcohol the defendant claimed to have consumed, to see how it affected him. Now obviously this is not scientific for more reasons than you can count, but a motion for mistrial was filed. That motion was denied, but just this past Friday, a new trial was granted because it was discovered this same juror did not disclose the fact that his wife had been convicted of DUI, either on the questionnaire or during voir dire. Had he not conducted that experiment and reported it to his fellow jurors, he likely wouldn’t have come under such close scrutiny. (This John Goodman is not the actor, in case you want to look it up. This is a travesty of justice case, primarily because this guy is filthy rich and has pulled so many dirty tricks; even though he was convicted of murder, he is serving his time under house arrest!)

Scott Peterson: Jurors were taken to see the boat he used to dump his wife in the San Francisco Bay. It was essentially a “field trip” requested by the jury during deliberations and approved by the Judge. However, once they got to the boat, one of them got in the boat and started jumping up and down, which had certainly not been approved — they were only supposed to look. Motion for mistrial was denied, but it could have been disastrous.

I don’t see why they couldn’t draw their own maps. Jurors are provided pads and pencils for deliberation in jury room venues in the US, and drawing a map from evidence already presented doesn’t violate the rules in Arizona against manufacturing new tests or evidence not presented diuring the trial

Schaeffer, but jurors are allowed to apply their own life experience. If they have traveled to California or have a good sense of geography they can and should use it. A drinking experiment conducted by a juror during deliberations is quite a bit different. And even that was not cause for a mis-trial. I wish we had a copy of the jury instructions because they often lay out using common knowledge and common sense. I agree that JM showing the route would have been very helpful, but he must have not thought it was important, IMO.

Schaeffer you would have to bring up the Goodman trial. While I agree that Judge Colbath had NO choice but to give Goodman a new trial, my blood is absolutely boiling. John Goodman , or rather his insurance company, already settled the wrongful death suit for $45m and his actions along with Roy Black are reprehensible. Ya right the Bentley did it. Ya right he had to try and adopt his girlfriend to protect this children’s trust fund. Ya right he drank AFTER the accident in someone’s man-cave in the pitch dark.

Scott Wilson is dead because John Goodman was so drunk that he let him drown. I hope Ellen Roberts is back to retry him and he WILL be convicted again!!! This time I hope that Colbath sentences him to even longer than 16 months, and not on house arrest in his mcmansion on his polo grounds.

Goodman needs to man up, do his time so that he is still a young man when he gets out. Ya do the crime, ya do the time!!!

Hi, I know, I was thinking the same thing about wishing Juan would have made it clear that jodi said that travis said “f-ing kill you b@tch”, AFTER she shot him in the head. That was so important I think.
All in all, he covered a lot, but I still wonder why he didn’t make it super clear that she claimed travis said that AFTER he was shot in the head. That shows that there was absolutely zero threat to her and that was there was no self defense necessary. If anyone needed self defense, it was poor travis!
    *****************************************************************************************************
We think JM did not make any reference to this is because to do so would mean that her
story about her shooting him and TA making this statement would validate her story about the shot coming first! Shot came last and he was already dead according to the forensics and is the true story. He could not speak because he was already dead.

    • Jay
      05/05/2013 at 5:46 pm

On the Dr Drew show he had on a forensic investigator who was sure TA was shot in the head first, in the shower. He then made his way to the sink, coughing and spitting blood, confirmed by the blood splatter patterns.
      Here’s the clip:
      http://www.hlntv.com/video/2013/03/13/gun-jodi-used-jammed-forensic-expert-believes

Later, The forensic guy, and Dr Drew both said they knew of many gun shot victims who had been shot in the temporal area and were still able to move some distance. So Geffner appears to have been right about that.

And if the forensic guy’s scenario is correct, some of The Arias story may be based on fact:
She shot him In the head but he was able he to call her a bitch and charge her and slam her on the floor. She struggled away, and ran for a knife, not for the phony gun in the closet lie. By the time she got back a weakened Travis was coughing blood in the sink. She stabs him in the back and he stumbles or crawls away. She chases after.. Finishes him off, cuts herself.. Drags him to the shower, kicks the bullet casing, bangs the camera to expose the pic of Travis dead.

That sequence makes more sense. She staged the grandparent gun robbery to get the gun and used it as planned. She freaked out when the gun jammed and the vicious knife attack that followed indicates a combination of fear and rage. The sequence doesn’t matter. The jury’s going to come back with first degree murder, because of the overkill. Martinez firmly planted that idea in their minds.

If that’s the same guy that has been on there before he says he’s a friend of TA’s. He often argues the topic with Dr. Drew’s forensic guy because Dr. Drew’s guy agrees with the ME.

      • HJ Madison
        05/05/2013 at 6:43 pm

Jay … I heard exactly what you heard and I agree!! The ME made an error — and if you actually read the autoposy report you will see the ME is quite wishy/washy on the status of the brain. Then go listen to Dr. Dolittle and Wilnot — they talk about the ME report must have been in error.

Whether she shot him first or last it makes NO DIFFERENCE. She brought a stolen gun with her intending to kill him …. and when he did not die fast enough she slaughtered him. It still is 1st degree … she still premeditated.

Jay did not say he took the word of Dr. Dolittle over the ME. He is just throwing out another idea that actually makes sense.

      • Jay
        05/05/2013 at 7:13 pm

Now, now Schaeffer, don’t get yourself worked up in a tizzy. If I was on the jury I’d vote for the death penalty, as I’ve said frequently, without reservation. And if you opened your eyes and read what I wrote above, you wouldn’t have written your knee-jerk reaction, because it plainly says that.

Your problem, like many others here, is that you’ve allowed partisanship to hinder your critical thinking. Yes, Arias is a vicious killer and deserves to die for it, but no, the prosecution hasnt been right about everything in the case, and Dr. Horn’s evaluation that the head wound was immediatingly incapicating may not be right either. There were differences of opinion about that from the start, and numerous objections from other forensic experts. in addition to the one cited above, here’s another view the head shot MAY have been first:

        http://www.hlntv.com/article/2013/01/22/what-really-killed-travis-alexander.

There’s also a plenitude of reports of frontal lobe gun shot injuries NOT totally incapicating patients – these from hospital emergency room doctors – that’s why I thought the juror question to Dr Horn asking him if he had only seen dead frontal lobe victims was interesting, because that, and the question about the autopsy ‘typo’ mistake may indicate one juror may have a medical background and know The MEs opinion on immediate incapacitation was not accurate

And why so upset about an alternate theory of the murder? Arias is guilty under both scenarios. And by the Great God Zeus, I’m sure she will pay for it

      • TexiBelle
        05/05/2013 at 7:28 pm

I’m not going to weigh in on dueling ME reports, but I am going to stick up for Jay. No case is perfect and there’s nothing wrong with posing an alternate theory and discussing it here like civilized people. A person can be firmly convinced of JA’s guilt and still disagree with something the prosecution does, or (god forbid) acknowledge something the defense does right. doesn’t change the fact we can’t wait to see her convicted.

By the way on the other page (or whatever you call it) someone asked the ages of the ol hens in our group. We’re fine with sharing our ages! We range in age from 59 being the youngest to 75 our eldest. There’s actually 11 in our group and we have 3 hubbys who are honorary members (they’re the roosters of the hen house!), however most of us are widowed or divorced many many years ago. We’re all mothers and grandmothers. Some of us don’t drive anymore….for the sake of the safety of others out there on the road! We’re all retired now and we have been friends for many many years, some of us going back to the 8th grade. We also worked at the same company together and in our younger years partied together. We have seen each other through thick and thin, the ups and downs, happy times and sad times, we argue and nag each other from time to time, pull jokes on each other (as you have read!!), we critique each other if our make-up looks like we’re working both sides of the street for the day, we’ve had some of the challenges many of you faced have faced in your lifetime, i.e., domestic violence, rx drug addiction, smoking addiction, alcoholism, single parenthood, discrimination (can you believe it?!), failed relationships, and a lot of other minor incidences. But through it all we supported each other no matter what. We may have been harsh at times and told it like it is in order to get through to one another, but no matter what we are just a phone call away and there to pick up the pieces for each other. We’re not all together each day since some of we in live adjoining towns, but at least within 30 minutes of each other. Those of us who live very near to each other will gather at one or the other’s house to watch this crazy trial, but we’re in contact with the others via telephone (no not cell phone or texting…..a real wall phone!) We even put it on speaker so we’re all hearing each other! So that’s us in a nutshell……sound a little boring, well not really, we do come together once a month for a pot luck at our different homes just to catch up, complain, nag, or whatever suits. We vacation together as well…….however we’re not world travelers because some of us won’t fly. Bottom line……we’re just a bunch of happy ol hens!!

So there you have it and thanks for asking whoever it was that asked! :>)

Still puzzled about the hair color change. You are right, salons don’t usually give receipts. They may have some record of it though. Even Supercuts makes you sign in with your name and phone #. The pics of her change in hair color, taken in the car on her cell phone on 6/3 (or ? 6/2) do make me think someone did dye her hair for her. I have looked at my hair in my car mirror just after getting my hair cut in a salon, so taking photos of the change in the car just after it was done would not be a far stretch. “…and the bell tolls for thee.”

Judging by the appearance of her hair in the braids, it looks like box color. Because it was over bleach, her hair color looks very flat and lacks depth of color. My gf that is a stylist believes that had she gotten it done professional the color would be rich and would absolutely had low lights or highlights. IHPO:) in her professional opinion

If you’ve found the site, simply click on the “Tricia’s True Crime Radio Sunday” and wait for it to come on. It lasts from one to two hours usually. If you miss it, or if you come in late, just restart it. Very easy.

What does the jury get to look at or review, in terms of the evidence in the case, while they are deliberating? Do they get to see any of it or hear any of the audio that was played in court?

  27. 05/05/2013 at 5:59 pm

    • HJ Madison
      05/05/2013 at 6:31 pm

Depends …. normally they get anything admitted as actual evidence. And, due to space, most times the jury has to ask for the evidence they want to see. Testimony is normally read back to them from a transcript in open court. Aids, like the diagram of the bathroom and bedroom are normally permitted if the judge ok’s. The audio can likely be replayed in the jury room, if they want it.

Yes, you can go back and click on any dates you missed. Even though the show has been dominated by this trial recetnly, it does cover other trials and legal events, so older broadcasts, especially, will not be so single-minded.

Oh wait you can’t hoho because you were in a fog at that time. Oh wait, then why are you shaking your head. Or has the fog started to lift that you can remember?” It was driving me crazy.

      05/05/2013 at 8:17 pm

I had forgotten how many minutes it was from last pic alive to pic of TA not alive. If it was only 62 seconds, she definitely had to have the gun and/or knife close by. No time to run to closet to get gun. No time to run to her purse to get gun. 29 stabs takes a while to do, I would think. Knife could have been in bathroom (if they really did cut a rope), not on night stand as JA says. Also, if rope was used, where are the pictures of this. Surely they would have taken some. There are enough nude pics of JA. I hope this is clear to the jurors as it surely seals the theory of premeditation to me. “…and the bell tolls for thee”

OT – Anthony Bourdain is doing a special tonight in the province of Quebec and it’s cooking and culture. I have seen a few previews of it.

11 things to know before visiting Quebec
Inhabitants of Quebec pride themselves on being different. This is French soil, with a language police and its own holiday

I would like to say now, ON THE RECORD, that while Quebec City is beautiful, this province does NOT represent Canucks, only Quebecors. For most of us, we know it’s there, we ignore it, and it’s like driving through a foreign country whenever you go through. It’s like the crazy relative, every family has one 😉

    • HJ Madison
      05/05/2013 at 6:53 pm

Having been there and found it utterly charming, I would agree MMD! What I enjoy most though is the language issue … do Quebecors really want me to attempt my high school French? Cause it is pretty bad! I will if I must but it is a lot like fingernails on chalk board.😁

      • MMD
        05/05/2013 at 7:08 pm

Yep they really do!!! Even though we are officially a bilingual country, Quebec takes extreme offense to anyone who dares to put up English signs, unless they are very small and ONLY under the French in much smaller lettering. They can’t decide if they want to become part of France, but even France doesn’t want them. 😉

I did that cruise on Norwegian Cruises back in Oct 2001, right after 9/11. The cruise was supposed to start out in the port of NY, but moved to Boston. Travel was so scary. While on that trip, the anthrax scare was going on. Every time the ship entered and left port, we were escorted by navy ships. That was all before I had kids. On the days we were at sea, I would give financial lectures for NCL, so the cruise was free. 🙂 Pretty cool gig. And I also saw whales. It was a great trip.

That was sooooo obvious to us and the first thing we noticed during JM’s closing arguments. We wondered if the Jury was close enough and watching her thinking the same thing. You would have thought her attorneys would have told her not to make any facial reactions (just like TA’s family was told!) to anything said in court. Loser!!

I think Jodi’s defense AND JM ALL need a long vaycay away from this psycho POS as they’ve ALL been pushed to their limits with this nasty ass psycho be-atch. Hell….Nurmi said HE doesn’t like her….not a surprise considering his stance in court while Wilmott was questioning. JA CLEARLY thinks shes smarter than EVERYONE else and thinks she’s going to walk!!! When TA and JA were in bathroom and if TA got mad at her for dropping camera, if JA shot first, she must have had the gun on her person (premeditation) in order to shoot first. Killing (27-29 stabs, 1 GS) and possibly stomping on back of TA’s legs and ankles (when he was at end of hallway) (autopsy shows odd bruise marks on back of ankles and feet) occurred in a very short time span. From last pic alive to pic of TA not alive was only a couple of minutes, I believe. If JA stabbed first, knife would have to have been in bathroom, or JA was carrying it (premeditation) for both stabbing and knifing to have occurred in 2 minutes or so. Either way, she shot with grandpa’s gun (premeditation). IMO

Jodi’s head shaking and saying “bullshit” in closing remarks are flat out, 100% disrespectful to the court and hopefully the jury picked up on that narcissistic behavior. Ask ANY REAL battered woman, and Jodi ABSOLUTELY, 100% is NOT a battered woman!! She has shown ZERO emotional traits of a battered woman. Hell…..I suggest…TRAVIS was the battered on in the “relationship!” Maybe he let her into his house to appease her…fuck her then send her on her way, deflecting another altercation? LOoooVE how Juan pointed out….she testified she made the decision to see TA when she was on the road, yet also testified she had CDs of their trips to show him???? CONTRADICTION!!! I agree with some that the ME testimony seemed kinda wishy washy, however the one thing that proves to me that the shot came last was the lack of hemorrhage at the wound site. I think that speaks volumes that he was dead.

I thought Dr Horn was very credible. He was dealing with a brain that was decomposed! The Defense tried to put words in his mouth or force him to make assumptions that simply were impossible to make when dealing with a brain the consistency of tapioca. Fact remains…lack of hemorrhage, simple geometry of the trajectory of the bullet, and the dura matter was NOT in tact.

Listening to Chris Hughes,.,what Jodi did to Travis was horrible before she killed him…I just don’t understand when she showed up at his house on june 4th why didn’t he just kick her out or call the police and have her escorted out.He knew she had lied.scammed him,, threatened to show his new gf the sex tape on and on…how could he even want to touch her..

    • 05/05/2013 at 10:01 pm

Katie….i know right….that’s what i’m sitting here thinking! why if he had an inkling that she was capable of killing him…and that one day he would show up dead….why did he let her in…or rather….why did he let her stay! Bcuz we ALL know he didn’t let her in….but for some strange reason…he let her stay. He was too nice of a guy….and i’m sure in her planning she knew she could count on him to let her stay!!! fn psycho!!

    • Kristi
      05/05/2013 at 10:47 pm

Katie you are so right. So what compelled him to not do that? I agree with a few others here who have theorized that the evil act that Travis discovered was the recordings, but I think that what JA threatened him with was using the tapes to expose him as a pedophile, using the 12 year old girl part to back up her Lies. As Syntara said in the last sandbox, getting him to repeat that part was too contrived. And honestly, its not that big of a deal for a single guy to have sex with his girlfriend, even a Mormon (or any other devout religion). After all, it was 2007, not 1907. Also, the bishop had already heard TA’s “I fell off the chastity wagon” confession twice, after Deanna and JA, so I don’t think he’d be shocked. However, being accused of being a pedophile would have been a whole different thing and perhaps that is what she held over his head. Maybe he thought he could placate her until he figured out what to do.

Donchais, I really want to thank you for providing this forum and the great recaps. This group is unlike any other I’ve seen online, real communication and intelligent discussion. I learned a lot about the case and just have to say that whoever coined the acronym WOBO is a genius on so many levels. Perfect description!

      • Lisa M
        05/05/2013 at 11:07 pm

My feeling is that if she had threatened to expose him as a pedophile he would NOT have allowed her to stay in his house that night. I think it was more likely the recording of the phone sex. The pedophile lie I believe came after his death.
It is a mystery though, why he let her stay at all, but hindsight is 20/20 and he obviously had no idea what she was planning and she manipulated him once again.

      • Lisa M
        05/05/2013 at 11:31 pm

I’m just basing my response on the fact that a pedophilia accusation is so heinous I don’t think he would have been willing to have sex with her again (if they even had sex when she was there in the house that night). Also, borderline personalities are really really good at making you feel guilty. So she probably played that card. She knew how to get to him and how to pull his strings.

    05/05/2013 at 10:04 pm

Gleaned from Tricia’s True Crime Radio Blog with guest Chris Hughes

No one has been able to figure out exactly what precipitated the big fight on 26 May. However, the text messages included “You have hurt me worse than the passing of my own father: ” “You scammed me.” “I’m going to call my attorney on Monday.” Chris and Sky Hughes think the best guess is she revealed the existence of the phone sex tape, and/or threatened to send Mimi Hall a copy. Chris put a lot of stock in the words betrayed, hurt, and scammed in coming to this conclusion.

After reading thousands of text messages, e-mails, and hundreds of lines of google chat (literally), Chris reported the ONLY time Travis called WOBO names was in the e-mail of the 26th.

Also discovered by Chris, there was an e-mail from Travis/to Travis. When Chris opened it, it said “Jodi! You’re caught! Get out of my e-mail!” He knew she was hacking his e-mail and this was a way to let him know,

    • 05/05/2013 at 10:13 pm

He also said that TA showed anger only in response to a provoking action from JA. I also like when Sky told Wurmi that the reason they went through all of the email, texts etc. between TA and JA wa bcuz they knew JA had killed Travis, and they were looking for proof….and they found it!!! Brilliant!!!

    • Lisa M
      05/05/2013 at 10:54 pm

Were these three lines in the texts mentioned above mentioned in court? Probably not, right? Why would they be excluded though, too prejudicial? OMG And the “Jodi, you’re caught!” email. That would have been great to have heard in court.

    From the radio show

At the memorial service, many people were convinced WOBO had murdered Travis, but were not voicing it too loudly or to anyone they didn’t know well. She called several people to pick her up from the airport, and no one would do it. To explain away her absence, she changed her story so she said “I was driving down but had a flat tire and was stranded.” She also perhaps sensed she would be arrested if she showed up, based on the reactions of people refusing to pick her up. The memorial service was made all the better without her presence.

More from the radio show with Chris Hughes

The original story of pedophilia was so repulsive, repugnant, and disgusting, Chris wouldn’t even discuss it, except to say it is so far from the final story floated in trial it is unrecognizable. Story #2 was the one Wurmi lied to Sky about by saying the letters had been judged to be 100% authentic by experts. When the Hughes’s heard this, they were shocked and assumed what Wurmi was saying was true. They contacted a friend with 40 years experience as a crime investigator, specializing in handwriting analysis and forgery identification. His first question was “Who has the originals?” When he learned there weren’t any, he said they were inadmissable, period, and even originals cannot be judged “100% authentic” so there was no way a legitimate expert would make such a statement about electronic copies; in other words, Wurmi lied. He explained what probably happened was the stolen journals were scanned, and via some program like photoshop, a font was generated which was then used to generate the letters. Chris said someone on the outside had to be involved in this, because it took several machines and some sophisticated software. (Heads up, conspiracy theorists!)

Chris also has a copy of the 18 page letter the WOBO sent to Travis’s family. He said he would have to talk with the family about the possibility of releasing a full or partial copy of it at some future date. All he was willing to share now was “it was typical, unbelievable, crazy Jodi talk” and was basically the ninja story. He did quote one line she included: “I ran out, and then I did something I’m not proud of. I backed out of the driveway without looking back.”

Please refresh me about why the Hughes were not able to testify to these things in trial. I have not understood that.

  85. 05/05/2013 at 10:55 pm

Katie Cool Lady made me sob!!! Cos she said so much about how it feels to be a victim of a psychopath. How you feel trapped and lost in an abyss. This feeling of not being able to get out and you so want to. You know you have to get out but you are stuck and you don’t even know how the hell you got there! You know you are an intelligent person and you question yourself every moment as to how you go there and why you can’t escape it. Theoretically you KNOW it’s should be easy.. but if you are there if one of these monsters has targeted you you can’t you can’t freakin do it.. IT IS NOT THAT EASY!!!! If you told me I would ever be in that position before I was anyone who knew me and most of all myself would have laughed in your face. Let me tell you it CAN happen to you. If you have the misfortune of being targeted by one of these monsters it CAN happen to you. I

I know one thing! After living through it.. I can tell you this NO ONE , NO ONE will ever EVER make me feel like that again. I will NEVER give in to anyone when I know what I am saying is true. I will NEVER allow anyone to gaslight, skew my intuition and knowing inside me in ANY way EVER again I now know the theoretical, intellectual and experiential result of doing so and I will never step ONE FOOT into that cesspit again. If that threatens anyone else that is NOT my problem.

I will NEVER apologise for it, for I have lived in HELL because I gave in to someone else manipulations, gave them the benefit of the doubt and it so very very nearly cost me my sanity and my life.

If that scares anyone, I dont’ care who it is but ANYONE, that is their problem NOT mine. I will NEVER allow anyone to take me into that living hell again. If they can’t understand my need to hang on to my own identity after what I have been through I see it as THEIR problem not mine.

If that sounds callous, if that sounds unforgiving. so be it.. for only I know what I lived through and only I know what I managed to escape from and I will not apologise for it.

      05/05/2013 at 11:22 pm

Syn, I’m so sorry you had to go through that. There but for the grace of God go I and lots of other people. I’ve had some toxic people in my life, and a couple who were even scary and stalkerish, but no one who I can say was definitely a psychopath. I do believe that it is the luck of the draw. Someone like Travis just got involved with the wrong person, and in his case (and I guess in yours too) the wrong person was REALLY wrong. Those of us who never meet these sickos should count ourselves lucky.
Something you said really stuck out for me as being familiar re: the borderline personality disorder friend I told you about before. When you said, “I will NEVER give in to anyone when I know what I am saying is true. I will NEVER allow anyone to gaslight, skew my intuition and knowing inside me in ANY way EVER again…” it really reminded me of how my borderline friend was. She would try to get inside your mind and get you to reveal your vulnerabilities to her. Then she’d kind of take over and make you doubt yourself. It just makes me wonder if there’s some crossover between borderlines and psychopaths, and if maybe that’s why Dr. DeMarte diagnosed Jodi as a borderline when we know she’s really a psychopath.

      • 05/05/2013 at 11:30 pm

Lisa there is a number of elements common to both. As I’ve aid before… but there’s additional things that a psychopath is that BPD exhibitors aren’t.

That’s the lack of conscience and remorse and complete sense of self righteousness above anyone or anything else.

The manipulation is common to a number of cluster B diagnoses.

    • Ci Ci's Circle
      05/05/2013 at 11:45 pm

Syn….it doesn’t sound callous at all! We have two in our group that have been to hell and back and survived just as you have. They say the same thing…..NEVER EVER AGAIN will someone control their every move and thought as before. There was a reason they survived their hell and that was because they were the better person only they didn’t know it at the time because they had been beaten down. We spent many days hiding them in our homes because the police were useless. Back in our day if you reported the abuse the police would just show up and tell them, “well we can arrest him but you know if we do that he’s just going to come back and do something worse to you.” That was the reality back then. They are strong minded women now because they are free. To see their abusers now if we should happen to run into them at the store they are dried up and defeated hunks of nothing!! We look them straight in the eye and they quickly turn away get away from all of us. Our two ladies just look at them say to themselves, “now who has the power!” We talk about it openly and we will never forget what they went through before finding the power that freed them. They still have anger moments and we work it through with them. It’s unbelievable the mind control someone can have over another person. But you know…..these perpetrators pick their prey you don’t pick them!!

You’re a survivor and be proud of it!!

      • 05/06/2013 at 12:00 am

CC thankyou .. validation of my feelings are so important and that validation comes in many forms.

I too have angry moments, angry at myself for excusing too many things. Angry at myself for not believing what I knew and allowing him to apologise and ‘explain’ too many times! This is where I feel a deep kinship to Travis, I know he did the same because that relationship in many many ways mirrors exactly what I lived through. I could write a book about it. Everything I hear from the Hughes’ just makes me think to myself “yep I knew it” in a deep heartfelt sorrowful way shaking my head and wishing I wasn’t hearing the echoes of what I already deduced from the interrogation videos.

The two of you who suffered the abyss are so lucky to have the rest of you as friends. What better support than you lot!! I am so heartened they are now nestled warmly under the security of your extended wings.

With none other than the author of the 1000 places to see before you die. She’s known the lady since college. My friend was also completely unaware of the trial. The book was initially supposed to be the 100 places, then it was the 500 places, before it finally became the 1000 places.

This world is just 6 degrees of separation.

Just a thought if I were a juror. I would of course agree from the get-go that its Premed AND felony murder1 DP. BUT………. this is there only shot to glean EVERYTHING. Look how curious WE all are! I would want to try to read whatever I felt was really revelant, just TRYING TO UNDERSTAND and to CONFIRM the SICKNESS AND EVILENSS THAT LIVES IN THAT HO’S LIFE! sooo if it takes a bit longer for the verdict to give them that chance most of us would love to have .. to use the evidence …to try to understand her then I think they have earned that right.

I am planning all my errands for daylight so I do not miss a thing. Don’t forget we might get jury questions thru out the day and that can always be interesting. Katie Cool Lady made me sob!!! Cos she said so much about how it feels to be a victim
of a psychopath.

YEAH Syn! You have been to the depths of hell with one of these truly evil ones and have come out the other side to TELL THE TRUTH!!!! I heart you.

    Jay :
On the Dr Drew show he had on a forensic investigator who was sure TA was shot in the head first, in the shower. He then made his way to the sink, coughing and spitting blood,
confirmed by the blood splatter patterns.

NOPE Jay you are incorrect. He was NOT a forensic expert. He was a Crime Scene recreator. BIG difference. He is NOT a MD, nor a ME. He was wrong. Completely wrong.

Schaeffer.. above noted… and since Im getting the serial killers confused.. is Dennis Rader (BTK) the one who left the dolls in the phone boxes or is that yet another one?

      • Schaeffer
        05/06/2013 at 1:31 pm

Sort of. He communicated with the police extensively. He left, among other things, cereal boxes with messages on them, dolls made to look like the victims, even the driver’s license of a victim (his memento, as it were). He did not leave a message in a phone box, rather he CALLED the police from a payphone as soon as he did it and reported the crime to the 911 operator. He said “You will find a homicide at [gave address and victim’s name].” He even repeated it when the operator said she couldn’t understand him, and then said “Correct.” when she read it back to him. They played the phone call over the media extensively, and while he was clearly understandable, he had disguised his voice enough to prevent identification. Oh, he made the all at 8:20 a.m., so he wasn’t even sneaking around in the middle of the night. One of the things he enjoyed was terrorizing an entire city; he tended to kill during the day, often on his lunch hour from work.

I would love so much to be wrong, but I really do not expect the verdict tomorrow. As someone here said, the jury has been dying to say the first word to each other about this case! As in other long cases, they have no doubt formed friendships and they will want to hear what these new friends think about specific pieces of evidence. They might just want to explode with “Do you believe what he/she said?!?!” just to get it off their chests before they start to deliberate. Then, it has a lot to do with who they choose as foreperson. If they do choose a very organized person, they might start right away working through the evidence OR they might start with a vote just to see where they are. I don’t think they will want to reflect the OJ jury and appear to overlook evidence by coming back in just a few hours. With all of that being said, I really don’t have a clue! I do feel that if they go past Wednesday, we’re looking at trouble. Just my thoughts on the subject.

  104. 05/06/2013 at 2:08 am

Just finished Chrs Hughes’ interview. I will not focus on the negative aspect, the ugliness of the crime, but instead say that I was left with a beautul spirit from Travis. I will take the lesson learned from one of his family members who had almost given up on any kindness coming from humanity. There are good and decent and kind and caring and generous and loving folk. Just let me strive to be and maintain on of them. I have been so moved.

I did….and it was just amazing to listen to CH talk about the crazy encounters they had with JA! It was clear that TA was the victim of JA psychotic treatment towards him! He was abused by her, and it was a shame that most of what Chris and Sky experienced was not heard on the witness stand! They would have made very compelling witnesses in defense of JA. But our Man in Arizona….Sir Juan Martinez (I will have the Queen work on having him knighted tout suite!) did a great job representing and defending Travis!!

    http://www.today.com/news/casey-anthony-judge-felt-shock-disbelief-not-guilty-verdict-6C9791042

Casey Anthony judge felt ‘shock, disbelief’ at not-guilty verdict
    Scott Stump TODAY

Two years after jury selection began for the Casey Anthony murder trial, Judge Belvin Perry, who presided over the case, said the Florida mother was “very manipulative.”

“There were two sides to Casey Anthony,” he told Savannah Guthrie on TODAY Monday in an exclusive interview. “There was the side that was before the jury, where she portrayed the role of a mother who had lost a child, someone who was wrongfully accused, and then you could notice the change and transformation in her when the jury went out.

“She was very commanding, she took charge of different things, and you could see her sometimes scolding her attorneys.”

During the trial, Anthony’s attorneys discussed with her the possibility of taking a plea deal for aggravated manslaughter instead of first-degree murder. Perry described Anthony’s behavior as she talked with her lawyers in a holding cell near where he was sitting.

“I will never forget that day,” he said. “All of a sudden, you heard shouting coming from the holding cell, some four-letter words coming from the holding cell, and she was quite upset. So upset that one counselor suggested that she was incompetent to proceed.”

Perry, the chief judge on Florida’s Ninth Judicial Circuit, became famous during the trial, which made national headlines from May to July 2011. The jury found Anthony not guilty of the first-degree murder of her 2-year-old daughter, Caylee. Her daughter’s remains were found in a wooded area near Anthony’s home in Orlando in December 2008.

The jury found Anthony guilty of four misdemeanor counts of providing false information to a law enforcement officer, and she was released in July of 2011 after getting credit for time served.

Perry described his “surprise,” “shock” and “disbelief” at reading the verdict.

“There was sufficient evidence to sustain a verdict of murder in the first degree in this case,” he said.

“I thought they had proved a great case, but you’ve got to realize this was a circumstantial evidence case. All the defense had to do was create that reasonable doubt, and that’s what they did.”

Perry credits Anthony’s lawyer, Jose Baez, for his effect on the jury.

“The state had better lawyers, but Mr. Baez was very personable,” Perry said. “He came across as someone that you would like. It’s like someone trying to sell a used car. Who are you going to buy it from? The most likable salesperson.”

In Florida, television cameras are allowed in the courtroom. The Anthony trial rippled across Twitter and Facebook. The high-profile trial earned Perry the nickname “The Velvet Hammer” on social media.

“In Florida we’ve always had cameras,” he said. “I think people need to know how their justice system works, and that’s the only way it can work.”

    • 05/06/2013 at 10:07 am

The Casey Anthony trial was the only trial I had watched since the OJ trial. My son and I were equally obsessed… It was gut wrenching to think about what that darling little girl went through! Wow, thanks for reposting that, Lisa, and thanks for the original repost, MMD. That is so interesting. I’m not surprised at all. I knew he wanted a conviction. I love how he called Jose Baez a used car salesman. So true. A very good used car salesman perhaps, but still gotta love his analogy.
He basically saw what the rest of us watching did, the startling difference between Casey’s demeanor when the jury was there and when they were out of the room. And she wouldn’t take an aggravated manslaughter plea?! What?! I’m surprised the state would even consider such a plea, maybe the defense was going to present it to the prosecution and were discussing it with her first?

Good morning all my sandboxers!! Just have a minute but wanted to share a little poem I found somewhere (I can’t take credit for it) but it’s sooo worth sharing…Hopefully a 1st degree verdict by NOON!!!! See ya’ll later. 😆

As Jodi Arias contemplates her fate.
Even discussing it with her cellmate.
She now is aware her goose is cooked.
Brooding on what she had overlooked.

Was the gun in a holster, gee I don’t know.
Will the jury believe the rubbish I show?
How many gas cans did I really conceal?
Oh crap, they’re onto me I strongly feel.

In my jail cell I’m shaking with fear.
Caught in my lies, the jury did hear.
Waiting my time sitting on a hot seat.
Knowing too well I’m trapped in deceit.

… I only wish that my lies will benefit me.
I’ll change my story again for all to see.
What a perfect little angel I can really be.
Fooling the jury, the judge and everybody.

Jodi Arias alleged suicide but did not rush.
Chickened out ‘cause it “stung too much”.
Ironically as her phony death wish tale grew.
The jury could now help her wish come true.

Once it’s over (any minute now) you can listen from the beginning. Definitely listen, it’s pure gold for Crazy Jodi stories.

I listened to this – this morning – and all I can say is WOW. Chris Hughes needs to write a book about all of this – for Travis’ voice.
Everyone needs to listen to this radio show.

    • 05/06/2013 at 10:13 am

Allison…wasn’t it mind blowing. I wished that he had testified for Travis. It just gives you chills hearing about their strange encounters with JA, and the way she treated Travis, in light of what eventually occurred! It is beyond chilling.

Loved the interview with CH. Lots of new information and insights. There were so many bright RED flags pertaining to Arias the evildoer.

Michael the anonymous donor is a true angel. Chris Hughes is such a strong voice for Travis. I really don’t understand why his information and details didn’t make it to the courtroom. Chris said he was not deposed by the Defense or Prosecution.

One of the loudest messages I took away from Chris’ interview …. “the Defense had 5 years to find 1 man, 1 woman, or 1 child who was abused or harmed by Travis and they found NONE!!”

Yes, what was that supposed to be? One more way for her to stick it to him? One more way to strip him of any dignity?

    • 05/06/2013 at 10:38 am

This blood atonement theory really troubles me. I can assure you that it has NOTHING what so ever to do with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. There are several break outs of this religion. I was raised LDS, although I don’t practice it now, I have a lot of relations that do. I have commented on this several times but its as if my posts get lost in the sea of remarks. It would not surprise me if it was practiced in some religions but it is NOT the LDS which Travis was a member.

Morning, Syn … I hope you are rested and refreshed. If it isn’t too much trouble, would you mind taking a look at that 34 second clip I posted earlier–where Jodi is doing a slit throat gesture during Juan’s closing arguments? I’m hoping it was only a scratch, as some have posited in the comment section of the video, but with this demon I cannot help thinking it was deliberate — or in spite of herself since the evil resides firmly within her. Merci, Madame! 🙂

You and me both. They’ll be calling the guys in white coats for quite a few of us.

Ha ha, yes, MMD, it’s true. I had a dream last night that the jury was hung, and I was having a conversation with Jose Baez about it! They were hung between first and second degree and I was asking Jose if he thought there should be another charge between first and second to prevent that from happening. It didn’t make any sense because of course, there would be no way to have another charge between those two. OY VAY, I’m even dreaming about this trial!

    • 05/06/2013 at 10:41 am

At this point I would prefer to have a hung jury than to have them find her for a lesser charge. The thoughts of Jodi winning again turns my stomach.

KW, noooo…! if this verdict takes more than two days, I will lose my mind. They have to put us (and Travis’ family) out of our misery before that!

    Syntara :
Lisa there is a number of elements common to both. As I’ve aid before… but there’s additional things that a psychopath is that BPD exhibitors aren’t.
That’s the lack of conscience and remorse and complete sense of self righteousness above anyone or anything else.
The manipulation is common to a number of cluster B diagnoses.

The other thing I remembered recently about my ex-friend who was borderline was that she was extremely good at making you feel guilty. That falls under manipulation in general I know but she did it in a very vindictive way. Like one time I was heartbroken over a breakup and she started telling me that when she went through what I was going through I wasn’t there for her and I didn’t support her, which was ridiculous, because I didn’t even know what she was going through at the time, and they were very different situations. But she took the opportunity to twist the knife in when I was down, so that at that point I was deeply upset and had to be even more upset that when my friend felt the same way I wasn’t there for her. And I fell for it hook line and sinker. Another time right before she told me that a friend of mine (not a close friend, but a friend nonetheless) had died, she preceded the announcement by saying “I have to tell you something, but I know you’re going to overreact…” etc, basically disallowing me to have any feelings about my friend’s death before she told me. (She was the only one allowed to “overreact” apparently.) Another time she harangued me on a bus ride about something she thought I should feel guilty about. It went on and one and I think I was just trying to appease her so I kept quiet. When she got off the bus, this guy that was sitting nearby (who had heard the whole thing) gave me this look of utter pity and disbelief. He obviously felt very sorry for what she had just put me through.
These are just examples of what borderline personalities do, and I think if she really is borderline, Jodi would have put Travis through the same kind of crap.

    • MMD
      05/06/2013 at 11:12 am

Well hopefully will all that we have learned through this trial and from Syn, not to mention everyone else’s life experiences, nobody will ever be able to put any of us in those positions again. Even though they are verrrrrrry good at what they do, we have been forewarned and educated!!!! 💡

    • 05/06/2013 at 11:14 am

Lisa, she is borderline.. with extras. So all that applies to your friend will also apply to Jodi and more.

      • 05/06/2013 at 11:15 am

Psychopaths AND Borderlines pull the crap you are talking about.

      • 05/06/2013 at 11:16 am

        So do Narcissists… (NPD)

      • 05/06/2013 at 11:16 am

As I have said before these are all basic characteristics of a number of cluster B diagnoses.

      • 05/06/2013 at 11:24 am

Lisa, The manipulation you describe is typical manipulation of these people. It is beyond what we would consider ‘normal’ manipulation. This type of manipulation is typical.

This is a disorder. ie the mind is disordered. I don’t know how better to explain it. Just to say it IS typical in a number of diagnosis.

However borderline was ‘invented’ to cover the emotional side of it.. Jodi is NOT emotional not in the way a borderline disorder should present. Not in my experience anyhow.

    CC … :
Morning, Syn … I hope you are rested and refreshed. If it isn’t too much trouble, would you mind taking a look at that 34 second clip I posted earlier–where Jodi is doing a slit throat gesture during Juan’s closing arguments?

I need to verify this gesture…. but assuming it is not edited in anyway…. then I believe it links to the blood atonement theory. it fits perfectly in that clip.

But first I need to track it down and make sure it’s genuine.

You can probably work it out for yourself if you go to my page:

    http://wickedscruples.com/jodi-arias-doodle/

you can probably put the meaning together yourself.

One think I will say….. it definitely shows she remembers slitting his throat. (like we ever had any doubts about that one!)

it’s a quick update of the original page.. just has a bit more info on references to the atonement itself and a link to the page that shows the symbols.. so they are easily compared to the ‘real’ thing.

Good morning everyone and good evening to Syntara and Essem, I believe. :). I read here daily but seldom post. Mos tof the time I would be redundant . I can’t think of anything or anyone I would have disagreed with. Today, like al of you, I am awaiting what I hope,to be a quick and just verdict. I do wonder though, being its a DP case, if the jurors wouldn’t take some time to review the evidence.
I think JM did a brilliant job and his closing masterful. If he held back on some points I think it would be to use in the next phase. I don’t think the jurors have any doubt as to her guilt, but does anyone else think that in a DP case you would want to review anything that may be niggling at you in the back of your mind so you don’t start questioning yourself down the line? I wouldn’t want anything left unanswered in my mind, I’m having a real hard time trying to explain myself here. I know she’s guilty. I believe it will be a first degree verdict. I have no question about it. Wondering if being on the jury and Not having all the info we have from other sources, if the verdict would come as quickly.
I’m sorry for not being cleared in my thoughts. I’m waiting anxiously with all of you. (Almost acrid to hit post comment.)
All positive thoughts and prayers for strength today to jury and of course for the Alexander’s.
    11minutes to start.

Saw a brief clip this morning of Judge Belvin Perry talking about how manipulative and different Casey Anthony would become outside the presence of the jury and the cameras, and how he believes she is guilty of murder and was surprised when the jury acquitted her. Sometimes think we should have all bench trials in front of a judge or professional juries, but I’m hoping this jury restores my faith.

I have looked and looked at that pic where the ho is dragging Travis, back to the bathroom.
This is where she either just sliced his throat or in the process of it. The duhfense tried to say he was raising his head and shoulder.

I have always had a problem with where they say it’s JA’s foot It looks to me like its a blood pool, and yes, it kind of looks like a foot the way the blood pooled. but in context, if it were a foot….. it must be a shadow . or else i am missing where they point to the foot. maybe they are pointing somewhere else and I only think they are pointing to what i think is a bloodpool….

  167. 05/06/2013 at 12:19 pm

One thing I want to make clear on Jodistein using the ‘blood atonement ritual’ to kill him. I think she did because the beginning and end fit perfectly as does the failed slit across his stomach.

BUT.. I do not think in any way she was using it for ANY other reason than twisted justification for her evil need to kill him because he dared to see her for what she really is and order her out of his life.

I also do believe she would have gone killing and the throat slash would have become her signature.

She takes her cues from what she sees and reads. It’s as simple as that. Hence the psycho shots to get him into a vulnerable position, opening of his chest [first token punishment for revealing a secret] he was supposed to slump to the floor of the shower, she was supposed to slit his throat [second token punishment for revealing a secret] and his blood was to run down the drain [symbolic of blood draining into hole in the ground] as outlined in the “Shot in the Heart” Gilmore movie reference to the blood atonement.

She may even have intended to commit the “opening of the navel” as indicated by the failed 6inch swipe across his stomach in the disembowelment ritual.

She is pure evil and there is really no other way to describe her. It is not a term I use lightly.

    05/06/2013 at 12:22 pm

Syn – what do you think that JA is feeling and thinking today????? or if she is even capable of feeling????

    • 05/06/2013 at 12:36 pm

ive never lived in her head. thank God! (I mean that literally)

So I really can only surmise that this is like any other day in her life. She will go to whatever reality she has chosen, probably in that throat slit mode from that video above.. ie I didn’t kill him I sent him to salvation.. I SAVED him, then reminding herself she can’t remember it.

She will expect the jury to acquit her so she probably won’t even be bothered thinking about when they come back she’ll probably be trying to tweet and draw as usual to convince herself she is in control and the jury will never convict her.

Syn….what sort of reaction can we expect from JA if she gets convicted of 1st degree murder? Based solely on her personality disorder…is she likely to be stone-faced or collapse? Will she stare down the jurors insolently? I would love your take, and your thoughts.

    • 05/06/2013 at 1:33 pm

witj… can’t say any more on this than I have.. depends what those around her have been saying to and what she has prepared for. I think there will be little reaction if it goes bad for her.. but back in her cell she will throw a huge tantrum.

Unless she truly believes they will not convict her then we might see something from her.

      • 05/06/2013 at 1:43 pm

    Hello all!

So I listened to most of Chris Hughes and I have a theory why neither he nor Sky testified. Chris said he got Travis’ password to his blog after Travis was killed from their shared webmaster. Then, by chance, Chris and Sky entered the same password into TA’s email and it worked — they got in. They read every email and google instant message. Now imagine, when so much of JA’s case is based on emails and instant messages, if Hughes’ were on the stand and asked about their access to TA’s google accounts?

DO NOT misunderstand! I am NOT saying Hughes’ did anything to alter the messages. I am saying that had they been called, Nurmi would have used it to attempt to totally discredit their testimony AND, most importantly, cast reasonable doubt on the reliability of the messages.

      • HJ Madison
        05/06/2013 at 1:03 pm

I have thought about that Jay. I think then JM would have been able to elicit many of the stories they told, like Jody at their bedroom door. I think it was too risky for both sides ….

      • Jay
        05/06/2013 at 1:11 pm

I agree HJ.. risky for both sides. Sky’s email stating that Travis was ‘mentally abusing’ Arias would have reinforced the defense battering claim; Sky and her husband’s later turn-around that Arias was manipulative and they were in fear for their children’s safety after Arias eavesdropped on their conversation with Travis would have bolstered the prosecution’s case — I guess neither side wanted to risk the downside.

I never expected to be so NERVOUS! I was very, very invested in the CA case. So much so, that when she was acquitted I cried and threw up. I felt so betrayed by the system (and by that crazy jury), I didn’t think I’d ever get over it. I swore never to get involved in another case because it was so devastating. Yet, here I am again – sweating out a verdict for another sociopath who needs to be on death row. The justice system in our country needs to be redeemed in this case. My faith is in Juan Martinez. Praying for justice for Travis and his family.

I have to say, I’ve never killed anyone before, or even thought of killing anyone, but I have to say, that a lot of folks put a lot of stock into JA showing up TA house on June 4th, and not shooting him immediately, if that was her intention. But considering her personality type, there is no way she would have gone through all that plotting and planning, taking her time to carefully document a good portion of her trip, steal a gun, bring a knife, and then shoot the guy! She was going to take her time and really give it to this guy good. She wanted to torture him; make him suffer! She had been roiling for days! Why then show up and shoot him right away? That would not have made sense, based on all that pre-planning. Just saying.

WTJ: Agree, agree. And I fall in the camp of Travis was such a sweet guy that after he cooled a bit from May26 … because she didn’t share the tape (yet) … when she showed up claiming to have erased it …. he went for it. And then, big sob story from the WOBO … they fall asleep, wake, and have some tender time which leads to another romp … and when she finally says “so… is it me or Mimi?” … he says “Mimi” and that sealed the deal. Also, I think she dyed her hair to look like Mimi and Deanna.

      • 05/06/2013 at 1:25 pm

    • 05/06/2013 at 1:35 pm

WTJ, I’ve always believed this. She did not want to shoot him in the back while he lay in bed. Nor while he had his back to her in the shower with his hands on the wall as Nurmi inferred during his close.
She wanted him to see it coming. She wanted him to know that she was in control and that he was about to pay for all that he had finally realized about her and the rejection of the worst thing that ever happened to him. I He knew the True Evil that is JA. That was /is not part of her reality and certainly could not be part. of his. That was unacceptable.

I wonder if all the media and spectators influence the jury’s deliberations. Do they consider the fact that so many are waiting for verdict? Do they slow down deliberations to seem as though giving careful thought and reflection? Do they even care what we will thnk?
It can’t possibly be quick. After four months they must at least want to share their .thoughts on the facts and horror of the case. They have some sharing to do and I would imagine some pent up issues to discuss although emotions arent supposed to be prt of deliberations. Even if its a unanimous verdict by straw poll.
Just random, mundane, nervousthoughts while waiting.

Here is another comment. Talk about frightening.

. I’m a survivor of domestic violence too. I also got out early. When I listened to Alyce LaViolette on the stand in this trial, she explained more to me about that bad relationship than I’ve been able to figure out in 10 yrs. I think Alyce LaViolette is just great. I believe Jodi Arias, and I believe Alyce LaViolette. If, God forbid, when I was attacked by my ex, if I had fought back and hurt him bad, God forbid, I know that no one would believe me either. As to WHY. And why didn’t I tell anyone? I didn’t even tell my best friend until years later. Alyce LaViolette explained it all. I don’t mean to disregard what you’re saying, I just disagree, and I’m afraid that if there’s a conviction in this case it will set all the progress made for domestic violence survivors back 30 years.

Once again I have a couple questions for you guys…I am completely clueless and very slow with some things. I’m sorry this was discussed yesterday and I still don’t get it lol…being adjusted. Someone said shifted. What exactly do these terms mean? Can someone lay it out bluntly. At first I thought she meant “adjusted” as in a chiropractic way LOL.

Can someone explain to me what happened with some email that was accidentally sent to Travis instead of some guy Steve? What happened and what did it say?

I have been watching the news and reading things online and once again I’m getting nervous. I 100% feel this is a slam dunk case…Juan covered every single possible thing and basically answered it all for the jury. However, these a-hole defense lawyers and Jodi fans talking about the whole there’s “no proof” the gun was brought in by her. And men jurors that have seen her cry will feel bad and not want to give her the DP.

Her own mother said Jodi was happy as hell in jail. She has friends, she’s popular, gets to do her writing and drawing, sells it online and makes money, gets to tweet through a friend, talk on the phone, watch tv, have a cell mate to chat with, have american idol contests, etc…etc.. Shoot, sounds better than the life she had outside of prison. LWOP isn’t a punishment for her. Death row is the only way to punish her! 23 hours a day in solitary confinement is what she needs. Anything less is a win for the defense!

    • 05/06/2013 at 2:46 pm

bailey was it you that asked about my interpretations and unforeseen scenario that resulted from it?

    • 05/06/2013 at 2:54 pm

I’ll take being adjusted…. cos Im in the naughty corner I might as well do it!

When a guy gets hard it can be uncomfortable for him so you ‘adjust’ him to make him more comfortable. ie you move said appendage to position it more comfortably inside his pants. Straighten it, give it room.. is that clear enough for ya? 😆

      05/06/2013 at 2:57 pm

OK Bailey I’ll take 2 of those.

      1. Lining up RB’s genitals with her grand canyon holes

      4. She is in jail, not prison or even in the general population. She is in a pod. Completely different. I do agree though that solitary confinement, while on Death Row, without any paper, pencils, pens, crayon, paintbrushes, etc. would be perfect for her while she awaits her big, really really dull needle!!!!

    • Kdesimon08@hotmail.com
      05/06/2013 at 3:03 pm

Bailey you And I worry the same way! Glad I’m not alone…

In response to part of your post where you mentioned there was no proof that she brought gun with her….. Thought about that too, and I’m now completely at peace.

One, there is ZERO evidence that Travis ever had a gun. But Jodi’s grandparents did, and that gun was stolen while she lived there. So right there, as a jury member, am I going to believe in a gun that was never in existence? Or will I believe from a liar she didn’t take a gun that was known to be in existence? Also, even if, though we know its not true, that Travis did have a gun, well that’s felony murder. Witch is toast either way 🙂

  202. ringadingding
    05/06/2013 at 2:41 pm

Here’s what I think is going on: They’re discussing evidence of pre-meditation and whether or not the gas cans, cell phone, car rental, license plate, and hair dye are sufficient to prove pre-meditation for murder (they could show pre-meditation for sneaking around, for example, going from one boyfriend to the next). If they can’t get agreement on that, hopefully someone is pointing out that even if she did not steal the gun from her grandparents and bring a knife sharp enough to nearly decapitate a man, that each and every action she took was not what a reasonable person would do in that circumstance and that three methods of murder were deliberate and intentional…proof of pre-meditation prior to each act. Hopefully, they don’t get bogged down in gun vs knife–which came first–or mired in a PTSD vs BPD debate.

    • ringadingding
      05/06/2013 at 2:46 pm

As a side note, I thought it was significant that Chris Hughes said in that radio interview that Travis told JA he was going to contact his attorney. In light of that, I don’t think for a moment she went there thinking she could get him to take her back. It was murder on her mind and like someone said above, a simple gun shot would not have been satisfactory at all. She needed Travis to “feel the wrath” (a statement of his the DT kept bringing up). As for blood atonement, I can totally see that. The heart and neck for sure were deliberate decisions that sent a clear message.

      • 05/06/2013 at 3:00 pm

still reckon she went there on her best behaviour full of sorries… probably saying she’d deleted the sex recording (if she’d mentioned it) also with the car payment cheque in hand and the cd’s and full of repentance.

Otherwise he would have thrown her out instantly. He was in no mood otherwise to entertain her needy butt in ANY way

A friend of mine has been on Jury duty 2 times. She said both time the foreman decided their deliberations procedures.

First time the foreman called for a vote right away. Since everyone wasn’t on the same page they went over evidence. and then took another vote.

The second time they went through the “major” evidence before taking a vote – since it was after a holiday break. When they took a vote everyone was in agreement.

I got that CC, but the first incident you brought us this morning. That came from the rebuttal. I want to see if I can actually find that one — unless someone already has??? and verify she did make that gesture.

Anyone have HLN on? That’s the only means I have to watch the trial and updates. I have to use my kindle to go online, unfortunately my laptop broke 😦 Anyways, if you do..isn’t it so ridiculous how JVM is saying there is so many people lining up outside from all over the world. Making it seem like there’s a million people there but there’s only like 30 lol.
Jurors at lunch..maybe after they relax and eat something they will inform judge they are finished. Fingers crossed they decided and will drop the bomb after lunch.

JVM has the screamin’ meemees, as we said as kids. I just can not take her! I feel so badly for you Bailey.😒 But hey, we are all pretty much stuck with HLN right now.

Condolences for only having HLN to watch but that’s pretty well all any of us have today although I hate the channel.

Yeah it is funny. They keep talking about this media presence – I haven’t even seen another camera, and all the people on verdict watch. I think she interviewed all 3 who were there. 1. the guy who truly suffered from PTSD and was offended
      2. the woman who had suffered from DV and was offended and
      3. the woman from cps who emphatically said that TA was NOT a pedophile and was offended they used that card

For someone who is not allowed to have sharp objects, how has JA always managed to keep her eyebrows plucked perfectly?????? It’s bugged me since the start of trial 😦

Hi everyone. I’m around but trying to get work done. Why oh why didn’t the sheriff or police officer person stay right by wobo’s side and monitor? She’s on trial for the ultimate first degree Murder!!!
