    MMD :
For someone who is not allowed to have sharp objects, how has JA always managed to keep her eyebrows plucked perfectly?????? It’s bugged me since the start of trial

Me too! And what about her nails? Think she just chews those off!

    • MMD
      05/06/2013 at 3:11 pm

Yeah I think she chews the nails or maybe is allowed emery boards but the eyebrows – doubt if they’ll allow her to have tweezers or hot wax.

      • HJ Madison
        05/06/2013 at 3:15 pm

My guess? Her BFF, Wilnot, “freshens” her up before the big show each day. Probably has those nifty wax strips in her handbag. (Puke!)

      • MMD
        05/06/2013 at 3:17 pm

Go to the head of the class HJ – those wax strips didn’t even cross my mind. I wonder what her pits and legs looks like????

      • HJ Madison
        05/06/2013 at 3:20 pm

Now I am going to PUKE!!! Arm pits? Really? We had to think about that?!

    • 05/06/2013 at 11:58 pm

I wondered also. Do you think she gets her Brazilian wax there for her gf? Maybe she uses the tweezers that she uses on her eye brows? Omg…i just had a horrific flashback of the hooch canyon! Dear heavens. Actually judging by the pictures she has 2 canyons. Then again, her mouth is quite large. Did TA mean she was a 3 canyon wonder? Better correct Wormi.

The gesture JA made during JM’s rebuttal. The throat slash. CC posted a link earlier. I will go get it if needed. It is a split screen. JM is talking about premediation and JA, wearing that black sweater set, gestures as though slashing her throat. Did you see the clip? If not, since you recently watched the rebuttal, do you recall about when JM talks about premeditation? If you will answer, I will go get the link. Thanks!

Since they are only giving a 30 min warning for the verdict, they are likely either AT the courthouse, or very near. I had to wait 2 1/2 days for a verdict in my husband’s trial. It was horrible waiting. I was at the courthouse the whole time. One thing I did to pass time was watch other trials. Remember the actor from the 40yr Old Virgin, the Indian guy? He was on trial in the courtroom next door for stabbing his girlfriend, Kendra Biebe, 25 times. She lived. He was found guilty and sentenced to life. Kendra and I are now friends.

No, I did’t notice that. Don’t dount it though. There was a a short clip with no sound, after courtroom clears, Nazi Grace is sitting there, and I guess Jodi had to let the bailiff know who was really in charge, and I guess she slipped some drawings to her Bullshit Mitigator…If you have it handy I’ll take a look. Right now I’m watching her Press Conference in Jail where she slams his family and promises no forgiveness whoever killed Travis.

It’s real!! I just found it. Croaker queen, day 56, part 4, at 53:51. When you get the context, watch like 1 minute before, it’s really obvious it’s not a scratch because its right after Juan talks about how she stuck it (the knife) in him and slashed his throat.

      • 05/06/2013 at 3:58 pm

thanks Im on that part 4 now running through it

      • 05/07/2013 at 12:11 am

OMG you have got to be kidding me! This beast is the epitome of trash! How dare she? She is def one of the most disgusting, disrespectful, cocky and selfish human beings ever known to man! I’m sick. I wish somehow, some way the judge and Juan could see this. She STILL thinks she’s innocent and that she is going to walk away from this without a scratch like Casey did. Between these despicable court room gestures and nasty tweets, she really has no clue. I wish the jury knew these things. What does everyone else think??

    • MMD
      05/06/2013 at 3:38 pm

She’s definitely in an alternate reality. My mind can’t even fathom it.

oh she is in joditruth land

    • 05/07/2013 at 12:19 am

Bubble- I watched that as well today. It’s sick how she talks as though there’s not a problem in the world..like Travis isn’t dead. Like she’s in jail on vacation. Putting her make up on. Laughing. Nothing but a fake liar! Her nonsense, random tidbits of information show she is lying…talk and talk..put the smoke screen up. We know her number.

There’s a maniac, maniac in the court,
and she’s lyin’ like she never lied before…

What? No hour and a half long lunch? Poor babies. Always made me laugh in court. They act like they’re dying to get through with all the witnesses in one day, but they start 30 min late, take two 20 min breaks, 90 min lunch, etc. Doesn’t give you much confidence that anyone REALLY cares about accomplishing a lot in one day. They really care about their entitled breaks and schedule.

Ok Jury lunch break, Wachten op de jury.
    A story for the sandbox:

John & Mary decided to throw a party with the theme of “emotions” and everyone was to come as their favorite emotion.

The night started well, Drinks being poured, piano music, The doorbell rings. John goes to open it. There are the neighbors Tom and Suzie. They are dressed all in red.

Red is our color, the color of “passion”, they say.

C’mon in! John says, join the party! More drinks served, more music, doorbell rings again. Mary goes to answer it.Standing there is Jack and Marcia, all in green.

The green-eyed monster! we are “jealousy,” they say.

C’mon in! Mary says. They join the others, Drinks are served, music plays, doorbell rings again. This time both John & Mary answer the door. There stands their friend Tony, naked! with a pear on the end of his erect penis! What the…Whoa there Tony what are you?

    I’m fuckin despair, says Tony.

That Daily News article about wobo selling t-shirts for’survivors’ has another comment. Looks like a reader of CFJ:

    KISSY FREEMAN1 hour ago

This is THE most disgusting thing I have ever seen. Are you kidding me??? Does stabby Einstein think that anyone is buying all of this crap? How is she able to profit off of anything? If her family wants/needs to stay in town, then let them pay for it. Her father did tell the detective that she didn’t want them visiting her at her apartment because Jodi thought they would “look through her things.” Sure, that’s normal for a daughter to say to her parents. What an incredibly sick person. She needs to be put away so she cannot hurt anyone else, ever.

So here is a question for you Syn (or other Brit/Canadian types) We have a fantastic international groccery and they stock cans of “Spotted Dick”. I have bought many cans as gifts, but never opened one. I am guessing it is like a rice pudding with raisins, what my Grandma used to call “Spotted Dog”. Thoughts?

semi-off topic, but wth: Although I didn’t have the pleasure of visiting western Australia, I did spend about a week in Sydney. Loved, loved the harbor. Adored the Opera House. Enjoyed the people. My only “surprise” was the sense of “Britishness” that was all around. I think I thought of Assies as the “rebels” who were thrown out of England, Thought the place would be more like America than England. My sleeping was all screwed up though; the jet lag was pronounced.

I feel like i need to post this again, I did on prior thread, can someone pls help? are they pointing to where in the photo that they think is her foot? I still say it’s a blood pool.

I have looked and looked at that pic where the ho is dragging Travis, back to the bathroom.
This is where she either just sliced his throat or in the process of it. The duhfense tried to say he was raising his head and shoulder.

I have always had a problem with where they say it’s JA’s foot It looks to me like its a blood pool, and yes, it kind of looks like a foot the way the blood pooled. but in context, if it were a foot….. it must be a shadow . or else i am missing where they point to the foot. maybe they are pointing somewhere else and I only think they are pointing to what i think is a bloodpool….

    • HJ Madison
      05/06/2013 at 4:48 pm

thanks for replying you 2! If they are pointing to what i think they do. saying it’s a foot. I just don’t see it! even the size doesn’t lend itself to being a footprint. I keep thinking maybe they pointed else where but I sure can’t figure out where!

    • truejustice
      05/06/2013 at 4:58 pm

If we are talking about the same one ??? I could “see” the foot ONLY after they talked about the stripe on her yoga pants. At the end of the stripe it looks like a black/blood soaked sock.

      • Moon
        05/06/2013 at 5:06 pm

i will go relook yet again … if it’s beside his body i might buy that. If it’s up by his shoulder, it couldn’t possibly be a foot!

      • truejustice
        05/06/2013 at 5:29 pm

Here is the picture I saw it the best in alot of them cut off the strip or as syn said are too dark to make it out. . Follow the light blue strip till you see the hem line. The bottom of the pant is wide yoga style and her foot is to the rfar right side of the pant leg. Her foot appears to be pointed with only her toes touching the floor – like she is straining to move him.

    • 05/06/2013 at 5:13 pm

Moon there is a blood pool on that photo.. not sure wht you are looking at but there is a blood pool.. I actually think she has just or in the process of slitting his throat the blood is actually running down his shoulder.. Im in the process of getting a web page up about that pic

Does the jury have all the paperwork, texts, journals, receipts, their notes etc In the deliberation room with them? What happens if there is 1or 2 people against 1st degree and they can’t agree? Does that mean hung jury? Does it mean she is acquitted?

I have no nails left, snacks long gone, and the alcohol is next to go lol! I cancelled a doctor appointment today and need to run to the store but I’m afraid to miss a thing! Anyone Know Dr. Demarte’s phone number ? I’m going to need it once this trial is over 😦

    • Lisa M
      05/06/2013 at 5:35 pm

If they can’t agree it’s a hung jury, not an acquittal. If the jury tells the judge theyre having a hard time reaching a verdict she will most likely encourage them to go back and work hard to agree on a verdict. But if they absolutely can’t agree it’s a hung jury.

      • Crystal Harris
        05/06/2013 at 10:13 pm

        Hung jury means re-trial.
Acquittal means she’s free and can never be tried for these crimes in AZ again.
Conviction rates on re-trials are nearly 100%.

    • truejustice
      05/06/2013 at 5:47 pm

The article I read on azcentral (I think) explained it like this .

To get an acquittal they all must agree there is reasonable doubt of guilt or agree on self defense.
If some think doubt / defense but others say guilty… a hung jury.
If the agree that she is guilty – they must go down the list to find the suitable charge, premed m1 then felony M, then , M2, then manslaughter.

Does anyone know – if felony murder conviction will still result in penalty phase for Death ??

Here’s what I think is happening now: They’ve agreed to first degree with pre-meditation. Now they are working through if it’s also felony murder…in which case they’d have to believe JA’s testimony that the gun belonged to Travis or that she took a knife of his. I’m choosing to believe that this jury is going to make sure she’s charged with everything possible. If I’m wrong, at least I can imagine that’s what they’re doing and be able to get through this.

      05/06/2013 at 6:18 pm

Not guilty is always an option at a trial. In order to get a trial she had to enter a plea of not guilty.

She can be found not guilty on the following grounds.
      * They believe she was defending herself
      * They believe she was acting as a “battered women”
      * They know she killed him but just cannot rule out the possibility of self defense or battered women syndrome. (this is often the biggest issue in long trial like this one .. the jury has so much information/ evidence and theories thrown at them … they basically get information overload and just say who the heck really knows what happened)

      • Crystal Harris
        05/06/2013 at 10:05 pm

Or they can find her “not guilty” because the state just didn’t prove its case beyond a reasonable doubt. That’s what happened with Casey Anthony. Jurors said that it wasn’t that they thought she was innocent, it’s just that there wasn’t enough proof.
Of course, that won’t happen in this case. But it’s always an option. Juries can do whatever they want!!!

Just a little reminder …. it is a capital case and the jury knows this. It seems obvious to us, but I bet they just want to be certain. I would not be surprised to see them quit a bit early today and sleep on it. I wish we would get a jury question! Oh…. here comes Beth Karas.

Beth Karas is SO GOOD! I am sorry she is leaving HLN. Anyway, she said the she was not surprised we had not had a question. The jurors have all the evidence, over 600 pieces. And they have the instructions. And they have their notes, she speculates that if there is a controversy over testimony they may resolve it with their notes. She added that on Friday tye judge said she would respond in writing to any questions and she could confer with the lawyers over the phone. So, there may have been a question but the reporters are not aware of it.

The reason I’m giving this background is I’m anticipating getting sillier and sillier as the wine flows…so, I am apologizing in advance for possible incoherent ruminations and posts, though I am willing myself not to do so in order to spare everyone. 🙂
I hope I’m wrong but I’m getting the feeling this verdict will not come in today. And it is ok … as long as the PROPER verdict of murder 1 comes in. As it should.

    Moon :
that is not what i heard. guess i will go listen to judge’s instructions again. My understanding is IF for some UNGODLY reason they think self defense then it’s still manslaguther. The freaking ho admitted to this.

Hi Moon- Before you read any of the following, know this- I FIRMLY believe she is guilty of either 1st degree, Premeditated Murder, or Felony Murder.

Yes, she admitted to killing him, but she claimed it was in Self Defense. If the jury decides (not likely) that it was SD, they can acquit her, ie: she had the “right” to save her life- and she would walk free. Manslaughter with included two lesser charges of “Heat of Passion” and “Sudden Quarrel”.

The #1 reason (IMO) that the DT made a big mistake in claiming self defense is that a person can ONLY cause enough harm to a person to save their life- clearly JA could have escaped a naked, wet from the shower man after one stab wound, or one gun shot to the head. That is why Wurm made the “switcharoo” to “Heat of Passion” in his closing arguments, “She didn’t know when to stop! It was a chaotic scene”! I call BULLSHIT! He knew there was no saving her life with a claim of SD.

        05/06/2013 at 6:44 pm

I was rocked hard by the CA verdict, NEVER saw it coming! This is such a different case, CA’s was all circumstantial evidence- WOBO, being a full blown “genius”, mangaged to provide a wealth of evidence for Juan to work with- all pointing glaringly at premeditation. Then, she made the ultimate mistake by taking the stand, and lied to the jury for 18 days! CA was at least smart enough to NOT do that! Even if there is a JA sympathizer on the jury (as some suspect), Juan, being an actual genius… Covered that by including “Felony Murder”, she said “I took Travis’s gun”, and shot him in the head.

This wait is making us all anxious, so I’m sending you BIG ((((((HUGs))))) and a Blood Orange Martini, they’re delicious!!!!

I completely agree, there is SO much evidence pointing to premeditation. And Juan did an amazing job laying it all out- and let the jury know, “they” were lied to, again and again. If the jury understands their instructions, and they understand the term “beyond reasonable doubt”, it should then only be a matter of time the JA is found GULITY of 1st degree. I (((HOPE)))

Hi everyone. I’ve been around but been trying to get work done. Why oh why didn’t the sheriff or police officer person stay right by wobo’s side and monitor her? She’s on trial for the ultimate: First Degree Murder!!! Maybe it was too prejudicial to have her viewed and filmed as though she’s guilty?

      Hum? Explain a bit?

      • 05/06/2013 at 9:57 pm

Sorry if I wasn’t clear. Was thinking the deputy should be sitting right beside WOBO watching her movements, right? She’s on trial. If that is proper protocol, then did she get a buy? For what reason? Could it be that would be too prejudicial when the jury would see her?

  62. 05/06/2013 at 6:39 pm

The Jury in the OJ case deliberated for two hours. It didn’t take that long to deliberate, they stayed on for one last meal on the state. Their bags were packed and ready to go. First vote was 10 for acquittal, 2 for conviction; the two white ladies on the jury. After many dirty looks and alot of pressure, the jury came back with their infamous verdict. Jo Ellen Demitrious, jury consultant for the defense, told the defense, A: Black women hated Marcia Clarke, and B: Black, female, uneducated, those who would be not missed at work for a long sequestered case, would be the most favorable jury for OJ. Then the defense started in with serious misconduct to disqualify all jurors detrimental to their case. Travesty.

    • Lisa M
      05/06/2013 at 6:48 pm

Yeah complete travesty. But Mark Furhman (sp?) didn’t help. Once he was caught in a lie it fed right into the defense’s tactic of playing the race card and mistrust of the police. Two bad those two jurors gave in. There could have been a hung jury and a chance at another trial.

When you think about it it really isn’t that strange that the jury would be out longer than a couple of hours. These people have spent the last four months listening to evidence without being able to discuss it. I would imagine they’d have a lot to say to each other.

  74. 05/06/2013 at 7:22 pm

Hello all. Peeking in while at work so I have to be quick before I get caught.

Will someone explain how/why the Hughes were able to access Travis’ private accounts? I read through quickly so I’m not sure I understand it correctly. Did they hack his accounts after he died? If so, I would think that would make them undesirable witnesses. I would think all of that stuff would have been uncovered by the police during the investigation and by the Hughes accessing the accounts, they tainted that evidence. It actually bothers me that they took it upon themselves to check his accounts. I’m hoping I just misunderstood their actions.

As far as the verdict goes, I sort of wonder if the jury will convict her of 2nd degree murder and hope that the judge gives her a maximum sentence just so they can go home and not have to deal with this mess anymore. If they give her first degree, they will have to sit through the penality phase and lord knows this Judge has no control over her court so they could be there another 3 months. Plus, they could decide life sentence even at that point. So if they are already thinking 1st degree but not death, then why not go for 2nd degree and put the rest in the Judge’s hands and go home? Just a thought or rather, a worry.
Honestly, even knowing what I know about this trial, if I was on the jury, my decision would be 1st degree murder but I don’t know that I would give her the death penalty. I see this as more of a premeditated crime of obsession/passion. I doubt she would kill again, but I wouldn’t want to give her the chance either because she obviously has some sort of personality disorder. I’m not sure I agree that she is a sociopath though.

Anyway, if Travis was as good of a person as those who knew him say he was, then I doubt he would want Jodi to be put to death. However, he wouldn’t want her to be able to harm herself or anyone else either so I’m guessing he would go with life in prison. I guess the only way to know that would be to talk to those closest to him to see if he ever voiced whether or not he was someone who believed in the death penalty or not.

Just my thoughts….now back to work.

    • HJ Madison
      05/06/2013 at 7:29 pm

I brought this over as my post from earlier today

So I listened to most of Chris Hughes and I have a theory why neither he nor Sky testified. Chris said he got Travis’ password to his blog after Travis was killed from their shared webmaster. Then, by chance, Chris and Sky entered the same password into TA’s email and it worked — they got in. They read every email and google instant message. Now imagine, when so much of JA’s case is based on emails and instant messages, if Hughes’ were on the stand and asked about their access to TA’s google accounts?

DO NOT misunderstand! I am NOT saying Hughes’ did anything to alter the messages. I am saying that had they been called, Nurmi would have used it to attempt to totally discredit their testimony AND, most importantly, cast reasonable doubt on the reliability of the messages.

      • ringadingding
        05/06/2013 at 7:39 pm

Right, and the only reason they accessed those accounts was because the police said they were looking at a couple people (I guess its SOP not to say who they’re really honing in on). In their minds, they were running against a clock. They felt she would get away and/or come after them next.

      • Jay
        05/06/2013 at 7:44 pm

You have a good memory, HJ – I heard Chris talk about the password on Dr Drew last week, but the shared webmaster part slipped my recall. BTW, I just herd it announced the Hughes are on Dr Drew again 2nite

      • 05/06/2013 at 8:33 pm

HJ…I wasn’t thinking that they altered anything either and you are absolutely right that the defense would have implied tampering. They’ve implied everything else in this case. Good thing Jodi was dumb enought to admit she did it because I could totally see the defense claiming someone else did it and raise “reasonable doubt” for Jodi.

      • Crystal Harris
        05/06/2013 at 9:44 pm

You’re probably right about the reason the Hughes didn’t testify. However, I think that Juan should not have left that hanging out there. In rebuttal, had Juan called Sky Hughes to testify and basically impeach all testimony regarding the nature of the emails Alyce LaViolette discussed et al, it would have been powerful. And though the Hughes may have been open to some scrutiny, I think the value of their testimony was more important. The prosecution should not have left that hanging out there, IMO.

    • Lisa M
      05/06/2013 at 7:39 pm

Omg I just can’t imagine a jury giving second degree because they want to go home. That would be a severe dereliction of their civic duty. I mean I’m not saying its possible but after investing four months of their lives on this trial I think they’d be motivated to get it right. My thought was that if they’re all leaning towards first degree they’d want to reach a quick verdict just to get on with the next phase as soon as possible.

    • Kristi
      05/06/2013 at 7:41 pm

Chris Hughes and Travis had the same computer guy. Following the murder, police told the Hughes they did not suspect Jodi (they did but were keeping it to themselves while they investigated. Chris knew Jodi did it, so he obtained Travis’s password and logged into his email, then reported to the police the emails in there that implicated Jodi Arias. The Hughes didn’t hack anything and were always honest with police.

Chris told this story last night on the Tricia’s True Crime radio show.

      05/06/2013 at 7:45 pm

Chris Hughes did not “hack” Travis’s accounts in the same manner. WOBO did. They knew she had done it, and were looking for proof. Even though everyone told Flores they knew who was responsible, he kept telling them “No, we’ve looked at her, it wasn’t her, we have several other people we are looking at.” Flores was following police protocol, to give WOBO a false sense of security. However, he failed to communicate that info to Travis’s friends, and so they were becoming more and more frantic to find the proof to convince Flores they were right. It was an unfortunate circumstance, but part of police procedure. Chris did say that in retrospect, the defense would have played the “they tampered with evidence” card, thus making them ineligible for being effective witnesses and opening up yet another “They were out to get me” can of worms for WOBO to use.

      • 05/06/2013 at 7:50 pm

and I cannot blame them, under the circumstances I would have done the same thing.. but I would have copied the text of every email I thought was relevant and saved it to a txt doc.

Actually, gmail tracks the IP address of all login sessions. That is how Travis would have known Jodi was in his email. So it would have been easy to determine what actions were done by whom in each login. I wish they would have printed everything out too.

I think so, tho I guess I could be completely wrong. I would see a heavy influx of questions as a sign the jury was not quite confident on either the laws, their roles, or the evidence. The fact they do not have questions gives me confidence that they themselves are well informed, confident, and ready to deliver a verdict…..

Buuuuuttttttt I could b wrong lol

      • 05/06/2013 at 7:55 pm

could mean they have good notes on whatever they are needing to remember. Which could be a good sign. Could also indicate they are listening to each other which may also be a good sign. Could also mean there are no stand out arguers that any differences they are finding common ground after discussing amongst themselves.. which would be a really good sign.

So yeah.. overall it is more likely a good sign than a bad IF they are on the side that she’s a cold blooded killer… but if all this is leading to consensus on a different verdict.. then obviously BAD.

        05/06/2013 at 7:58 pm

I think so, too. Questions might indicate that jurors were in disagreement on something. And their short lunch makes me hope they were having a fluid discussion/deliberation and were basically working on common ground.

MMD… I just turned on (reluctantly) NG. She just mentioned the case you referenced earlier that took a mere 15 minutes for a DP guilty verdict , n 2011. It was the woman, last name Adriano, , that killed her husband who was dying of cancer .
One one of the only times tuning in to NG paid off. Waiting for the Hughes on Doc Drew.
Hope you have a decent night. Maybe tomorrow will be the day for Justice.

  90. 05/06/2013 at 8:47 pm

Casey Jordan said on NG that she isn’t worried about there not being a verdict yet….she did say that she will get worried about the 3 1/2 – 4 day mark though! Opinions on this legal-eagles??

    • HJ Madison
      05/06/2013 at 8:59 pm

Not worried. And what Jenkasaurus saw as “disagreement” could well have been “I have just decided I may be very near 1/12 a decision to take someone’s life”. I would hope they are taking this seriously. For me, if we don’t hear by the end of the week I would worry they are hung on 1st degree and not willing to compromise down to 2nd degree or manslaughter. IMHO.

      • 05/06/2013 at 9:34 pm

gosh i was so ticked when i heard that i forgot to type ….sympathy as far as the Arias family is concerned…should really hear….

    • 05/07/2013 at 1:09 am

Omg I heard that too!! Guess the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. Imagine how that poor Alexander family must have felt if they heard them? This is a serious issue that should have been brought to the attention of the judge by someone working for the court or media person who saw it happen. (I hope the jury witnessed it) That’s a very disturbing, disrespectful thing to do in a court room. The shenanigans that have gone on during this trial are unbelievable. No other Judge would have allowed any of it!

  92. 05/06/2013 at 8:54 pm

[oh my, just got here and found the words “strait jacket”…..c’mon guys! We gotta hold fast here….okay here’s anna]

G’day to everyone who cares to receive well-wishes from little ole’ me. 🙂 Hope yous guys are doing as good as can be expected during these massively trying times. I sense so many souls in my town are down. Crazy trial begets crazy gone crazy-wild on roids. You know that old stress test you could take to check off major events that have happened to you in the last year? Don’t recall all the questions but just within the last month I imagine I could check off half the page….in one month….yeppo nutso worldo…stupid is still extremely unreasonable and i suspect always will be! So there!!! That’s my stupid (oops) opinion!!!

The day I’ve been waiting for 4 months, Sir Juan Martinez (i knighted him while i was gone, btw…lol…MMD, don’t let it go to his sweet, cute head mmmkay!?) [go back and restart the sentence now if you need to…i’m movin’ on…]and his beautiful closing story, so well weaved, ‘with. out. notes.’, from the heart, True and clogging holes where stupid reasonable doubt might try to bleed thru some stupid heart. (sorry, did i say that out loud….i’m really a nice person once ya get to know me. i swear. come on over for a bbq sometime and you tell me eye to eye…written word hard sometimes {{{beats chest-ouch}}} ooga booga hence emoji and stuff like that there… Okay, come back…here i am. So about an hour 1/2 into the most amazing closing story i’ve ever heard in my 50 years playing a justice freak, my internet when down. A big chunk of me threatened to die that day until i said, ‘wait, someday it will be on youtube, i just know it!’ So, off i went to deal with the giant mud slides in my den, elephants in the living room (still, i might add and pewy), and there’s a hurricane in one room so we’re all just waiting for it to move the hell on already but it looks really cozy, unfortunately….we shall see…hehehe! Anyhoo, y’all get catch my drift (sorry…i need shower, too)

I’ll check back later to see who’s around, that is, unless something like a plane crashes into my overflowing abode…but don’t worry ‘bout me folks…Texas don’t breed too many sissies. just sayin’ my ‘pinion fwiw I love my state and my people. mine. And btw, our economy here really isn’t doing well at all so don’t listen to news reports and move here. they lie…………. 🙂

I know, I know…you thought it was fiiiiiinally over, right? not

Good gosh…I just stupidly turned on hln to c what’s goin on….someone asked NG if she was surprised this jury is taking longer than one day. Yes, that sounds like justice to me…a trial lasting months longer than it should’ve , with a rocky mountain of icky evidence to dissect, yes, we should wrap this up in about 25 minutes….but, and however, the jury don’t know all we know and that’s the point here. i don’t try to read tea leaves like tv people….in fact, i’m gonna assume she gets casey anthony-ied and eagerly await the euphoria when I’m found wrong and Travis is found right! Justice Rocks Big Time!!! I love the Alexander family!!! You have all, including Sir Eddie Snell, given me inspiration that will never leave my rabbit hole. You were forced to be shown for who you really are, for all the world to see…. Lovable. 🙂 Eternally thankful to people like yourselves. I mean, it ain’t just “fat-bottomed girls” i do know that much. gaw

I would think that description matches most in Arizona, it’s a very conservative state. I hope that is reflective of how the jury will vote. One never knows, and I’m nervous until I hear a guilty verdict of pre-med. jodi needs to be accountable here on earth before she tries to lie her way out of things to whoever her god happens to be on that given day.

You can’t trick God. God knows your heart. I’m comforted by that when I see all these criminals who “find God” suddenly after they commit heinous crimes and find themselves behind bars. My husband, who refused to attend church with our family, now pretends to be a Super Christian. My feelings about it are: if he really has, then great. God knows the truth of his heart as to whether he really has become a Christian. If he’s pretending, which I believe he is, God knows that, too. Shawn is not getting away with anything.

When he said Chris Hughes was his salvation, and that they were meant to meet and become best friends! And that thing took Travis away from Chris!!! Pure evil!!! I wish I were more articulate.. My comments ar rar and far between . However I need to comment on something I just heard on Dr Drew. His female co- host, just asked if travis would want the death penalty to be applied to Jodi. For sure I believe they read this blog. That question was posed her upstairs hours ago. Dr. drew seemed astounded .. Wonderful question !!
I think these talking heads troll these blogs for pertinent comments and questions. I am disgusted with HLN and their talking heads. “What would Travis want.”

    • 05/06/2013 at 9:53 pm

Deco….I think your comments are quite articulate! I agree….what would Travis want?? To be here, and have us talking about all the good work he had hoped to do…that’s what!! sheesh!

Thanks WTJ.. Means alot coming from you… 🙂

    • Jay
      05/06/2013 at 10:17 pm

A google search shows strong differences of opinion for the death penalty in the LDS Church, some in favor, some against.

And though we don’t know for sure what Travis thought, if he was against it that information would likely have been passed on to the prosecutor, and he wouldn’t have pushed for the death penalty, and would have accepted the earlier plea bargain from the defense.

      • Crystal Harris
        05/06/2013 at 10:26 pm

Jay is correct. The prosecutor works very closely with the victim’s family and would take into consideration not only Travis’ view of the death penalty, but also Travis’ family’s views of the death penalty.

      • Moon
        05/06/2013 at 11:50 pm

Sky Hughes mentioned tonite that the earthly Travis was all for Justice and felt that people should BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE!! Sky and Chris both said that couldn’t say how the heavenly Travis would feel about it.
for me, I don’t think he will be able to really reach his final resting place until he knows she’s been held accountable.

  100. 05/06/2013 at 9:57 pm

Does anyone think there is a significance to the 10am start time? Dr. Drew and the talking heads say that they think tomorrow will be the day for the verdict, and that the jurors seemed like a cohesive group, and that possibly they have already come to a decision, and decided to sleep on it tonight, before they render their decision! I sure hope that’s right!

Yes, we are on the same wavelength! Beth Karas is excellent and my understanding is she will be laid off soon. There was a petition circulating a while back but I don’t know the outcome.

I hope it’s ok to post this link from ~The State vs Jodi Arias Facebook Page~

In addition to the hand-written letter from Arias, there’s also a letter to Judge Duncan from Sandi Arias (JA’s mom). To read the letter from Mrs. Arias you’ll need to go to the Bottom of Page 5. Below the TwitterDoc box on the RIGHT side click NEXT.

2011 hand-written letter from Arias to Judge Duncan, concerning the ‘precarious circumstances of her legal defense’…

Janna! Thank you for bringing those over here! I read both letters, and the temptation to go through, line by line, with a red pen and edit the extraordinarily bad grammar was almost too much to bear!!!! Ugh!!!! I’d say 8th grade level at best! From what I have read elsewhere, Nurmi fought tooth and nail to be released, he couldn’t wait to get into private practice and rake in the big bucks from sex offenders!

Are the guns in CA supposed to be registered, or is CA like AZ in that regard? I thought it was interesting that wurm the perv pointed out that Hodi’s dad’s guns are not registered.

    • Kristi
      05/06/2013 at 11:11 pm

CA has required use of a federal firearms dealer and registration for around 20 years, but its pretty common for people to have guns bought before then that aren’t registered. The law doesn’t require people to come forward and register existing guns.

WOBO composed the majority of that letter. For anyone to suggest their life be spared because their “singing, drawing and poems” are beneficial to other inmates is so beyond ludicrous, only WOBO would be that egocentric. The mother may have added a sentence or two at the beginning, but the rest is pure WOBO.

What a fascinating read! No wonder WOBO acts so entitled! This makes it sound like Nurmi had nothing to do at the PD’s office. And when he decided to leave (or was he going to be laid off? Just askin’) he was able to make the State pay him the going rate for a private attorney. Gosh I wish I knew exactly when the WOBO changed her story …..

Nurmi had decided to start his own practice. Two years had passed since he was assigned to represent Arias – delay after delay, and no firm trial date in sight. He tried to resign two times, but the court refused to let him. As a partial accommodation they let him quit the public defenders office and hired him as an independent council at the $225 an hour standard rate. Though that’s a lot of money he probably could have made more in private practice. He was honest when he said he didn’t like her most days – she and her mom proselytized the judge to keep him as her lawyer, manipulating him into staying on the defense team…

Here’s a fuller timetable of Arias’s lawyer history:

Syn & MMD , thank you very much for your definitions of “adjustment.” I know what you mean now but I never heard that word used to describe it. I prefer the blunt naughty way. Will this get me in the naughty corner? Please? 😉 (I’m only kidding Donchias. I’m a good girl)

Kdesimon- Thanks for easing my mind about the gun theory. I feel much better now. My husband and I are sooo into this trial (even though he teases me and says I’m obsessed with it, he is too). Anyways, he has a female co-worker who will argue her innocence to the ends of the earth! She is 100% into the whole “there’s no actual evidence she stole the gun, brought the knife, used the gas cans, yatta yatta..” These are the things that start my worrying.

I think Juan said it best when he said yea she left a paper trail everywhere… but Arizona. If the jury doesn’t think the cell phone dying/being off only in AZ a huge clue as well, idk what is! The evidence is overwhelming.

      05/07/2013 at 12:11 am

Hey Bailey … love that name. Tell your hubby to remind the co-worker (if he can stand to talk to her) it is not “absolute certainty”. When 15 pieces of circumstantial evidence all point toward one direction “reasonable doubt” is a reasonable conclusion! And what about her little messages concealed in the magazines? That is what completely sealed the deal for me! Donchais has provided a really terrific sand box — it is great to just get in here and throw ideas around. 😃 I am glad I found this spot too!

Thank you guys! Lots of good ammo for my hub. He gets SOOOO pissed when these clueless people have such stupid answers for things that they really have no idea about..I don’t think this woman watched the complete trial because all the evidence presented is undoubtedly solid…beyond a reasonable doubt!! She either didn’t watch or she def as moon said, has a dark heart.

    • 05/07/2013 at 1:03 am

theres always going to be those types.. if I met one I’d simply laugh @ them say “yeah right” and walk away. No point arguing with an idiot, not going to get you anywhere.

Biggest concern .. there’s a clone of her on the jury. but evidence shows ie in trial juror questions and no questions coming out yesterday.. there isn’t. That’s all that matters. So fingers crossed there’s not one in those 12 or any of the alternates if they happen to be needed.

Mon wanna know why she tweets??? Her need to convince herself she is in control. It’s a pathological need and the only thing that keeps her from breaking down, weeping for herself in the corner.

That’s why she needs DP… to finally have NO control. No for the needle itself.. to be in 23 hours of solitary a day. That’s the ONLY real punishment she will ever feel because she has a pathological need to feel in control.

    • 05/07/2013 at 1:49 am

she was called to testify about Juan being mobbed.. and the final outcome of it all seemed to be juror 5 being ousted. But when reasons emerged for why juror 5 was ousted it was hard to see the connection. so need to wait til she can speak freely after trial.

    • Crystal Harris
      05/07/2013 at 2:07 am

A local AZ news station did a report on “Rock Star” Juan Martinez. HLN picked it up and played it, too. Jean Casarez commented on it and said she’d be worried about any jurors who might possibly see Juan being treated so well. The Defense team used all of this as an excuse for a motion for a mistrial and prosecutorial misconduct. In their efforts, DT called Jean Casarez to the witness stand to testify under oath. She stated that she never actually saw any jurors witnessing Juan Martinez, the Rock Star. She testified that she said she was only worried that a juror might see the behavior.
The motion was denied. Juror 5 was dismissed around this same time, but unless my memory is failing me, we still don’t know for sure why #5 was dismissed. Last I heard it was due to that juror’s own inappropriate comments.

    Moon :
o lawdy… ho’s tweeting again and she is onnnnnnnn a rolllll:
Jodi Arias ‏@Jodiannarias 16m I would have signed a plea years ago to avoid this disaster, but I was refused a plea as the State and the family refused to settle.
I wanted so much to avoid trial but the State forced it. My only other option was suicide and, well…
Jodi Arias ‏@Jodiannarias 5m Re: commissary, many of the items I didn’t receive were for indigent girls less fortunate than me. I,thankfully, have a mini surplus of food.
yep, she’s reallllllllllll remorseful! I’m surprised she just doesn’t tweet that we should all thank her, for setting him free.

Hey Moon- did you ever see this? Here’s a link to the plea she filed. Filled with (thinly) veiled threats.

When will The WOBO be allowed to speak in her own defense during the upcoming phases of the trial? Is there a legal ruling the judge can invoke to limit the amount of time she will have? Or, if she starts rambling, can the judge stop her? When she is executed, they should not ask her if she has “any last words” until the first phenobarb lever has been tripped. She’d drag that opportunity out forever.

When BTK rose up to speak, every single member of the victims’ families stood up and exited the courtroom; the majority of the other spectators did the same as a show of support. About the only people left in the gallery were the press and the lookie loos. I hope the Alexanders, Travis’s friends, and any other of their supporters do the same, if they feel it is appropriate for them to do so.

yes! That is EXACTLY what they need to do. They don’t need to hear it they have been hurt enough, and it takes her power over them away. I do hope they get this advice and act on it. It would shake her to the core and be hard for her to keep the facade

outside my scope Janna.. way outside.. Schaeffer may be able to help you out here or someone else legally versed.

I know Juan bristles over this whole subject so instinct tells me if there was something he could do he would have. Maybe thats why the enquirer stayed away from the whole thing.. maybe they wanted to avoid any legal entanglements that might have lead to financial penalties.

      05/07/2013 at 2:48 am

The whole issue of those fakey forged letters about pedophilia accusation bugs the crapola out of me. I keep trying to figulate a legal way that charges can be brought against someone and I don’t particularly care if the charges come against Sandy Arias, MM or Skankstein.

There’s a place in my head that keeps wanting closure and/or consequences.

The same goes for LaViolette. I know Juan has bigger fish to fry and other cases on his plate, but I’m keeping fingers crossed that she’ll pay dearly for her shenanigans.

      Shame on me!

      • 05/07/2013 at 2:54 am

She is the worst of all because she gave Jodistein validation for her heinous act. She should be held accountable for that.

But then so is the whole DT team for going there and allowing it, they all knew it was a load of crap and from the standpoint of validating justification of it to Jodistein, morally unacceptable. What is says about this defense team is scary.

It’s all very well to justify it and say.. well she needs a defense.. but where does it stop? We all know where the ‘just following orders’ leads.

Very eloquently stated Syn. I agree with you 110%. I think Juan aka Prosecution is the only party who can file charges against Violette though. It’s his battle.

You are so right. Showing him he had NO power over them was even more important than simply not listening. Some of them had been waiting over 30 years for him to be caught, but they were not going to give him one more minute of their lives.

The [July 15, 2008] fourth interview tape at the David Lohr You Tube site of http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6k29w7HjsVM contained a version of events spoken of by Jodi Arias. She described the actions of Darryl Brewer and how they affected her. She told Detective Flores “I had a nervous breakdown once. I had a nervous breakdown when my boyfriend and I were arguing once, and, ahhm. And, he, he began to argue with me in a way that was totally different from how we-we had ever argued before. And, he was just like, every time I’d say something, he was like yyyahhah, yyyahhah, you know. It was kind of weird like every time I tried to formulate a thought, and I was just sad. And, I was crying. And, every time I’d bring him back, he would interject in and-and then twist it. And, it was like the weirdest psychological thing that I have ever happened. And, the way I reacted was it was that I went into my room. It was kind of with our house. Uhhm. I went into my room and shut the door. We had separate bedrooms. And I was in his room, and I went down the hall into my room and shut the door. And, I just remember hyperventilating. And, that’s all. And then I was crying. And then, uhhmm. I went to get something out of my car. And, when he saw that, he, uhmm, maybe thought that I was going to leave and asked me for the key to his truck. And, he pulled behind my car because he thought he that because I was so upset I shouldn’t be driving anywhere. That’s, I mean that’s. I have no arguments. No anger issues. Not that I can remember”.

Before that interview and prior to Jodi Arias breaking off her live-in relationship with Daryl Brewer, she had reached a bit of nirvana. It was thought that he had too. She and he were enjoying themselves, living in the way she had chosen. Darryl Brewer and his five-year old son had become roommates of Jodi Arias, after she convinced him that they could become business partners with the purchase of a home. Darryl Brewer and Jodi Arias had dated on-and-off, and they would meet on occasion for a hook-up. They never lived together before they bought a home. For what it’s worth, the record evidence never revealed who Jodi Arias was living with or others she was dating [during that period of time] after she had broken off with Matt McCartney in 2001 (and she moved into that home in Palm Desert with Darryl Brewer in 2005). Darryl Brewer had first dated Jodi Arias, in late 2002, when they both lived in staff housing (on the property of the Ventana Inn), and they dated on-and-off when he lived in Monterey. He had been married and upon a divorce decree entered, his former wife was awarded the primary custody of their son, Jack.

When Darryl Brewer’s son became 5-years old, Jodi Arias showed interest in the young boy, and Darryl Brewer must have believed she would be a real help to his relationship with his young son. He immediately became impressed with her when she [altruistically] offered to purchase a house with him over four hundred miles away in Palm Desert, where his former wife was moving with the little boy. They bought the house so that the little boy would have his own bedroom. On the tenth day of Trial testimony, Darryl Brewer described this bond his son had with his roommate, a woman who had cozied up to them. He also mentioned the fact that Jodi Arias got breast implants in May of 2006 after the prosecutor asked about (a coincidence of his former wife receiving) breast implants. [Although not brought up at Trial, the word was that Jodi Arias also purchased a vehicle that was similar to the former wife and mother of the young boy.]

Jodi Arias spoke of the purchase of their home and their close relationship on the fourteenth day of Trial testimony. In 2005, Darryl Brewer’s former wife was moving to La Quinto in Riverside County, and he wanted to be close to her new residence so he could continue to see his son. So, they had made a purchase [above their means], in June of 2005, paying $350,000 (for a 3/2) in a working class neighborhood. The purchase of this home was with 100% financing, interest only payments, in which there was no money down. Then again, they must have come up with what had been billed in the financing plan [for costs and miscellaneous expenses for the loan]. The day before they signed on the house, it was related that the broker switched the terms. The mortgage would index after the first year. The payment went from $2200 – $2800. This was at a time that Jodi Arias was allegedly working two jobs (and had just joined Pre-Paid Legal). Her part of the monthly mortgage payment would have also adjusted [to $1,400].

Darryl Brewer’s son, Jack, had his own bedroom. Jack was there over the weekend, 2 – 3 days per week. Jack had a good relationship with Jodi Arias who looked at him as though he were a little brother. [Although she had mimicked some of his mother’s characteristics,] she did not hold a role as a mother. These three family members grew closer together at their newly purchased home. However, the relationship between Jodi Arias and the little boy would be broken because Darryl Brewer’s former wife announced she would be moving back to Monterey, where he would be attending school, starting in the fall of 2006. The Monterey Peninsula was definitely out of their reach when thinking about getting a home to share. Jodi Arias was stuck in Palm Desert without the little boy they had moved to be with.

Jodi Arias definitely did not like any of the relationships she had with the men she shacked up with (with two of them philanderers and her current an alcoholic and abusive), but she enjoyed the time she spent with the little five-year old boy who celebrated his six year birthday with her. She must have taken a lot of pictures of the little boy during the year she lived with him and his alcoholic father. So, she must have known what a little five or six year old boy looked like in a photo. Actually, she should not have had any problem when answering a question about the age of the little boy in the picture she saw in Travis’ bedroom, that wafted through the air to land in a manner where the image of a little boy (clad only in underwear) stared up at her. Nevertheless, for some reason, this did not strike a chord with her, and she never said the image would have reminded her of Darryl Brewer’s son, who was the same exact age and who would have been caught in the lens of her camera over-and-over again during the relationship she had with him.

Not only did she possess photos of Darryl Brewer’s five or six year old son, but she had the opportunity to snap pictures of the little boy’s playmates. So, whether the little boy knew the identity of his playmates or not, it would not have seemed out of place to see a clean-cut young woman taking pictures [as keepsakes] of a young boy who had accompanied her to the park, the beach, the hiking path, the mall, the school yard, or wherever little boys are prone to congregate. Then, on the other hand, she might have chosen to keep him all to herself. This comment is not meant to put into a person’s mind a degrading experience. Showing Jodi Arias had opportunity to be around young boys should not bother her, because she has tried to infer what she has done onto others. She would not be the first female with a fetish to be around young boys.

For example, Vili Fualaau, who met his sexual abuser, Mary Katherine Letourneau, at the age of 8 did not enter into a sexual relationship with her until he was again with her, at the age of 12. By that time, he had been sufficiently groomed under her tutelage (as a teacher at the young boy’s Elementary School). The State of Arizona would have probably been aware of this particular matter [that happened in Washington State] after the fact, since both she and her husband had attended Arizona State University. (She attended after graduating High School in Anaheim, California. Her father’s identity as a California State Representative and member of the Congress who ran for the Presidency of the United States would have given more recognition to this sexual predator, because of the familial status.)

Other women who abused the young boys in their charge are Debra Jean Lafave, and Pamela Rogers Turner. When making accusations that men can be interested in young children, it should also be mentioned that women can also be interested in young children. Although this predilection is known to affect both genders, the genders are not treated equally. When women sexually abuse the young boys in their charge, they get off with a much lighter sentence. In the same way that men can be abused in the system by a woman making a false claim of domestic violence (when it is the man who has suffered the domestic violence), a man can be abused by a system that will operate to convict a man accused of pedophilia while diminishing such a charge when it involves a woman charged with sexual abuse of young boys.

    This is a bummer

On 5/22/09, the defendant, Jodi Ann Arias, requested a change of counsel. (Unfortunately details of her “grievances” were not available.) ”

Wish we knew her ‘grievances” can only imagine.

    • Schaeffer
      05/07/2013 at 5:06 am

This is typical jailhouse bullshit. She probably couldn’t “seduce” her assigned counsel, so she requested a change; same reason she wanted to keep Wurmi once she had him hooked. The prisoners are more than willing to share all the tricks they know with each other.

      • 05/07/2013 at 5:09 am

  144. 05/07/2013 at 5:00 am

ok I completely missed these links to the letters.

    wtf is with the?

“Jodi does not deserve the death penalty. The evidence against her will show that.”

Freudian slip by the mother? The evidecen AGAINST her shows she DOES deserve it.

(may not be direct quote because unable to cut and paste but it’s close enough)

    • Schaeffer
      05/07/2013 at 5:15 am

The letter actually says “Jodi doesn’t deserve to be tried for the death penalty” which makes no sense if taken literally, but the gist is there.

First, remember WOBO wrote the bulk of that letter and mama just added the part about “we are so poor and her daddy is so sick” shit. WOBO just put her up to it to make the judge order Wurmi to remain on the case. “Where do his moral and legal obligations lie?” Another case of WOBO fearing abandonment; by God, he was assigned to her case and she will NOT let him leave her.

      • 05/07/2013 at 5:27 am

ya see that’s why it’s so weird… she doesnt deserve to be tried for the death penalty and the evidence AGAINST her will prove it.

That sounds like the mother making all kinds of freudian slips because she knows damn well Jodistein DOES deserve the DP and the evidence against her will prove it.

        Quite interesting to me.

I will have to get a copy of these..

Janna I am sorry I missed your comment initially.. thankfully Schaeffer posted her thoughts about it and alerted me to it.

        Thanks both of you!

    • 05/07/2013 at 8:35 am

Hi Trace 🙂 I thought the most laughable sentence in Sandy’s letter was “As you know, Jodi had some issues with Maria and wasn’t able to communicate with her”. Now that sounds like Maria wasn’t buying her crap and had other ideas not as “smart” as Jodi’s. And in Jodi’s letter, she is so full of herself, “.. a capital case as complex as mine …” It was only complex because she kept changing her story and then couldn’t keep track of her lies because her mouth wouldn’t stay shut (like her other orifices). The simple answer was, “I killed him, I planned it, I meant everything I did”. Ding Dong – time up – take her down. God I hope there is a verdict tomorrow. I know the jury haven’t had the time we have had to analyse, research, discuss amongst themselves like we have been doing for 4 months, so they do need to at least all voice their thoughts, so giving 12 people that opportunity and to discuss those thoughts, must take more than a day. Here’s hoping though.

Syn — I think her parents are GLAD she is incarcerated, and are probably hoping she gets LWOP, at a minimum. Their lives will be a lot easier with her gone, and she will be far enough away they won’t have to worry about visiting her at all. They also have no money to give her and she knows it; she’ll have plenty of other people supporting her.

I’ve been meaning to ask for a long time — her mother told Flores that since the murder (she actually used the words “since she came back from Utah”) “our relationship is better than it has ever been.” Was it the equivalent of the “cooling off period” a serial killer feels right after a murder?

    • 05/07/2013 at 5:43 am

ya Schaeffer.. I think it was…exactly that… she is sated, she has no reason to spar with her mother.. so kind of a revived “honeymoon” period.

Additionally, it was in her interests to keep her mother ‘on side’ at that time too. All fingers were pointing at her and she would have felt very isolated. Jodistein would have been marshaling the troops as it were. Lucky she did because she had very little time to try to mend bridges before they arrested her.

One conversation I wish we had been privy to was the one in March(?) when Travis told the WOBO she HAD to leave Mesa. (This is the conversation where she said he hit her because she told him she had decided to move back to Yreka — yeah right, to all of that.) However, I heard one of his friends say Travis told her she had to leave town, period. Chris Hughes said WOBO was ALWAYS broke because she never worked. Very early in the trial, I thought “When did either one of them have time to work, going on all these trips and having these all night encounters?” Now we know Travis was having financial problems, too, primarily because he was always having to cover her bills, feed her, etc. Do you think he told her the money was ending, she wasn’t going to be allowed to stay at his house, he wasn’t going to be taking her on any more trips — what do you think finally gave him the backbone to tell her to LEAVE? Do you think it was one thing that broke the camel’s back, or just a culmination of everything? He must have been extremely forceful and very convincing, because she would NEVER have left of her own volition.

    • 05/07/2013 at 6:23 am

Schaeffer.. I think this is one of those times…. I think what she wanted was for Travis to say “Oh no Jodi you can’t leave, move in with me if you can’t afford to stay here. I can’t cope with you going to Mesa.

Instead he said.. oh ok then.. when are you going type thing.

I think THIS is when his first nail went into his coffin. Or at least her first real rage was ignited I think from here on it burned and fed inside her.He didn’t beg her to stay.. which is why she then turned that day against him in her abuse claims He dared hurt her so she made up the abuse for the day she remembered so vividly as one where she was so ‘hurt’ by him.

I think each of those 4 abuse claims can be tied to something like this. Which underlines how pathetic she is..4 times she didn’t get her way.. only 4 times and she kills him again for it. Making it her grounds for the abuse claims to assassinate him in court.

Another glaring example.. the day they took the make up out of her bag… again.. she turns it into an abuse claim… he dared to hurt her by saying “Jodi you have got way to much shit in your bag and we don’t want to have to carry it for you”.

Don’t stand up to Jodistein.. or you pay with your life 10 times over!

One of the first questions the jury asked her was who paid for all of the trips and i believe she said they each paid their own way. Another lie. I believe it was a culmination of things. By then his friends had already expressed their concerns about her to him and maybe he was finally seeing the light.

    • 05/07/2013 at 6:32 am

I think likely she made token efforts but wound him around her little finger and when it was all said and done her contribution would have been absolutely minimum. Just enough to feign an effort.

from today’s NY Times, headlined: “Psychiatry’s Guide is ot of touch with science, experts say”

Just weeks before the long-awaited publication of a new edition of the so-called bible of mental disorders, the federal government’s most prominent psychiatric expert has said the book suffers from a scientific “lack of validity.”

The expert, Dr. Thomas R. Insel, director of the National Institute of Mental Health, said in an interview Monday that his goal was to reshape the direction of psychiatric research to focus on biology, genetics and neuroscience so that scientists can define disorders by their causes, rather than their symptoms.

As long as the research community takes the D.S.M. to be a bible, we’ll never make progress,” Dr. Insel said, adding, “People think that everything has to match D.S.M. criteria, but you know what? Biology never read that book.”

The revision, known as the D.S.M.-5 and the first since 1994, has stirred unprecedented questioning from the public, patient groups and, most fundamentally, senior figures in psychiatry who have challenged not only decisions about specific diagnoses but the scientific basis of the entire enterprise. Basic research into the biology of mental disorders and treatment has stalled, they say, confounded by the labyrinth of the brain

maybe , in the future, cases will be determined on what the defendant DID, rather than on why the defendant did it.

yep… s I have said in here many times.. the cutting edge research is far beyond the DSM. Just because others are not aware of it does not mean it is not there.

seriously Robherr.. and I know this sounds my usual facetious comment regards that idjit….. but I am seriously doubful Dr Dodgy would have a clue what Dr Insel is talking about, not for that matter would That geffney guy despite all his ridiculous claims to having the latest technology. Also darn sure LaLa would be going “huh???” and pulling a bugs.

To my knowledge he did not have an MRI scanner and that’s about the only thing the latest technology research needs at the moment there is so much going on in that area, it’s where my interests lay. It’s the most exciting area to be in. IMO

There is always the fear that MRI’s will discover a biological gap that is turned into an excuse for actions. Finding the balance in biology and justice is a chore of the 21 century.

I still love love that Juan went after RaViorette like he did. As bad as Samuels was – and he was bad – I didn’t think I’d see someone worse in the same trial.Boy did he make fun of her in the closing. Just recalling it gives me pleasure.

I posted a link early in the trial to an interview, nothing about CA, that he did and he mentioned being very close to retirement but I hope not. He’s a really good judge but you can only work 7 days a week plus evening for so long.

Good morning!! 😀 I have a question. When I was a small child I remember watching my dad beat my mom. They divorced when I was 5 or 6 and my mom still loved him for years. Mom never went back to dad. If you are finally away from an abuser, would you go back? Why would you drive all that way (like jodi did) if you were abused?

    • MMD
      05/07/2013 at 9:37 am

Morning darlin’ how’s your mum? No I would NEVER go back EVER, EVER, EVER, even though in your mind ya always think they will change. The won’t and they don’t!!! JA was NOT abused she was the abuser and poor Travis paid for it with his life!

    • Dewey
      05/07/2013 at 9:38 am

The defense conveniently didnt address that issue in their closing.

    • 05/07/2013 at 9:40 am

Good Morning Wendy. Sorry to hear about what your dad did to your mom, and that you had to witness it! Speaking from my own personal experience with abuse, I have to say that once I got away from my abuser, I made every effort to make sure that I never went anywhere near him again! I know true victims of DV do go back to the abuser, because they are convinced that they can’t live without that person, so that’s how I know JA is lying. Not only did she move hundreds of miles away from her so-called ‘abuser’, she had NO reason to go back to him at all on that day. NONE! It’s total BS! And an insult to true victims, like your mom, who had the courage to get away from you dad….and even more courage to stay away!!

Mom has been married to a wonderful man for 15 years and shes happy. To me that’s all that matters. With real domestic violence, the abuser and victim are typically domiciled (living) together, hence the name. It’s often circumstances: financial dependency, small children, marriage, joint ownership of homes, cars etc that make it difficult to separate. In real DV cases Wendy, you are so right. Once a real victim extricated herself and got 1000 miles away, she wouldn’t go back. Jodi made up their “relationship” in her head after meeting him at PPL events a handful of times. They were never engaged, never lived together, had no kids, no joint bank accounts, Jodi’s parents said they never met him and knew nothing about him……it’s totally ridiculous and an insult to real families involved in DV to claim the WOBO was a victim! Sorry, I get so angry with this defense and WOBO. We need a verdict!

Hello fellow travelers and thank you Donchais.

I’ve been keeping up with all the great posts – here in spirit. There’s so much to comment on, but my neurons aren’t firing all that well.

So I just have a couple thoughts to share.
As some of you have written re: jury being out – imagine being on this jury and not able to talk about the case with anyone. Think of all the insanity they need to process – they’re probably doing some group therapy because they’re all traumatized.

Thanks for bringing the “validity” of the DSM V into the discussion Robert. Sadly, most of the criticisms of this unscientific mumbo jumbo do not reach the public. Thankfully, there are people like Dr. Insel who are willing to risk possible professional suicide by challenging the field of psychiatry.

One of the first major criticisms came from the British Psychological Society in June 2011. You can Google the full response – it’s 26 pages long. But here are a few comments.

“The Society is concerned that clients and the general public are negatively affected by the continued and continuous medicalisation of their natural and normal responses to their experiences; responses which undoubtedly have distressing consequences which demand helping responses, but which do not reflect illnesses so much as normal individual variation.”

“The putative diagnoses presented in DSM-V are clearly based largely on social norms, with ‘symptoms’ that all rely on subjective judgments, with little confirmatory physical ‘signs’ or evidence of biological causation. The criteria are not value-free, but rather reflect current normative social expectations. Many researchers have pointed out that psychiatric diagnoses are plagued by problems of reliability, validity, prognostic value, and co-morbidity.”

“The Society recommends a revision of the way mental distress is thought about, starting with recognition of the overwhelming evidence that it is on a spectrum with ‘normal’ experience, and that psychosocial factors such as poverty, unemployment and trauma are the most strongly-evidenced causal factors. Rather than applying preordained diagnostic categories to clinical populations, we believe that any classification system should begin from the bottom up – starting with specific experiences, problems or ‘symptoms’ or ‘complaints’. Statistical analyses of problems from community samples show that they do not map onto past or current categories (Mirowsky, 1990, Mirowsky & Ross, 2003). We would like to see the base unit of measurement as specific problems (e.g. hearing voices, feelings of anxiety etc)? These would be more helpful too in terms of epidemiology.”

Syntara has mentioned the movie “I am fishhead” – it’s an excellent film. I would also suggest watching the film “The Marketing of Madness”.

At the risk of sounding like the conspiracy junky I am, the ‘relationship’ between the American Psychiatric Association and the Pharmaceutical companies should not be ignored. The APA would have burned Thomas Szasz at the stake if they could have. Fortunately, he didn’t go away.

    Hey WTJ – we’re neighbors!

    See you all soon
