Jodi Arias Murder Trial – Jury Has A Verdict!

05/08/2013

Been a long, painful haul, but we have a verdict!

It ain’t over yet because most likely we will go into the penalty phase.

Aggravators will include whether or not this was a heinous crime.

Ya think?

Murder 2 has an aggravation phase and the judge sentences 4-6 weeks later.  10-25 years, would walk in 5-7 years.

Voluntary Manslaughter:  30-60 days judge sentences to 7-20 years.

Ex-jurors 5, 8, and 11 are seated in court!

Screen shot 2013-05-08 at 4.51.03 PM3 armed guards surrounding Jodi.

Stephens reading verdict.

Guilty of 1 degree!: 5 Premeditated…7 Both…Jury polled and they all say it is their true verdict.

We begin tomorrow at  1:00.

Martinez did a fantastic job on premeditation.  100%!

Bless you Travis and all your family!!!!!!!!!Screen shot 2013-05-08 at 4.51.57 PM

I love this jury! So all they were discussing for three days was whether it was both premeditated AND felony. Love them!
Juan Martinez’s next move should be to run for District Attorney of Maricopa County. Juan is such a good man and the people of that county are lucky to have him. It’s time for Juan to step up to a larger role.
And last, Donchais, have you thought of creating an app, ala Wild About Trial?

How will I ever get to the internal transformation so that I can forgive this evil premeditated psychopathic killer????? I don’t know that I ever can but it’s really important to me to do this so that I can let it go. Does this even make any sense?

    • Family of Law
      05/08/2013 at 5:16 pm

Nancy, you are my sista from anotha mista… You said it very sensibly. I totally get what you’re saying. It will be a struggle, and honestly, I’m not sure I ever will get there in my heart or mind. In large part, because she shows NO remorse for what she did to Travis, and all who loved him.

      • Yp
        05/08/2013 at 5:55 pm

I think she shows no remorse because she really didn’t love him for him. She loved him in the same manner any other guy she has been with – for what he can provide her with financially. She used sex to get men & that works, but not when you want to find a spouse. Men almost never marry their whores because they have no respect for them. She loves herself more than anyone & showed such disdain for Travis in the end.

    • WhereIsSHE
      05/08/2013 at 5:18 pm

OR… you can not forgive her..and just make a conscious choice to let it go;)
      That’s what I do!
      LET IT GO!
She got the verdict she DESERVED.
No one is REQUIRED to forgive her for this HEINOUS, ATROCIOUS, VISCIOUS, CRUEL, PREMEDITATED MURDER.
Let her try to forgive herself. (Oh. Wait. Sorry. She already had–and probably never thought twice about it. NO GUILT. NO REMORSE. She doesn’t deserve forgiveness. She deserves justice in the form of a penalty she cannot escape for however many days she has left to breathe.)

Ok….NOW i am off to celebrate!

  7. 05/08/2013 at 5:11 pm

  12. 05/08/2013 at 5:13 pm

YES!!! Siblings will be filing a wrongful death suit!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • Crystal Harris
      05/08/2013 at 5:55 pm

They are lucky there is no statute of limitations for wrongful death. For other crimes, the statute is only one year from the date the crime occurred. That is something I’m working on changing because victims of violent crimes are often still reeling one year after the crime. It does not occur to a victim to file a civil lawsuit while you are navigating through the criminal courts and just trying to recover from what has happened to you. By the time you even think of filing a civil lawsuit, the statute had passed and you’re out of luck. That’s what happened to me. I think the clock should start ticking once there is a criminal conviction.

      • donchais
        05/08/2013 at 6:00 pm

I lived through one in two states, believe it or not, and statute was 3 years in each. We didn’t find out that it was wrongful death for 5-6 years. Took mountains to be moved and state laws to be changed to let over 10,000 lawsuits to be moved forward. The medical community and multi-billion dollar, internal drug companies had us in a strangle-hold!!!!

      • Crystal Harris
        05/08/2013 at 6:20 pm

Interesting. In CA, it’s only 1 yr for crimes below death. How can a crime victim be expected to have their act together in one year to the degree of filing a civil lawsuit?

  13. MMD

I’ve watched this about 6 times now from different angles focusing on JA, the court clerk, Alexander family, Arias family, JA again and the main one. Didn’t see an ounce of feeling from the Arias family and gramma really doesn’t need the wheelchair cause she stood and looked perfectly healthy when the jury came in and left. Didn’t look the least bit ill or weak.
Not even a tear from JA but the relief in the Alexander family/friends/group – they’ve been waiting 5 years for this and they deserve it so much.

I wish them peace and that Travis may finally rest in peace!

I remember in the Scott Peterson case his mother had oxygen tank next to her and then someone took pictures of her emptying the house that her son lived in with NO oxygen. Left one wondering how could she exert herself in such a manner WITHOUT oxygen and yet sat quietly in court needing it. Sympathy my a$$!

      • Crystal Harris
        05/08/2013 at 7:28 pm

God, criminals go for every sympathy angle they can. My husband had NO ONE in the courtroom in support of him except his paraplegic sister. And my husband would always push her into and out of the courtroom, even though his sister pushes herself around just fine everywhere else in the world. His sister is the one that paid his $250,000 bail as well as his $100,00 defense attorney. She also paid another $100,000 of his family court fees. This all came from the accident settlement she received. When the Family Court judge ordered me to pay $50,000 of his family court fees, he was swayed by his paralyzed sister and that she paid his fees. The judge was like, “it’s wrong that his paralyzed sister should pay for his legal fees.” I said, “that was a family decision they decided to make.” It’s even more wrong to make a rape victim pay her own rapist. But the judge didn’t care. So I changed the law!

Okay…I KNEW that it was not going to be good for her….when she was watching the jury come in….she looked at JW and I think she knew then that it was over!!! The look she gave JW said that they are not looking at me, and that’s bad!!! She knew before the verdict was read…she knew!!!!!

    • nyccowgirl
      05/08/2013 at 5:35 pm

I think she was egotistical enough to not know…from what I’ve heard, the jurors really haven’t held eye contact with her the entire trial. She seemed to have a delayed reaction to the verdict, indicating that she hadn’t really processed that any jury would not be susceptible to her manipulations.

    • Lisa M
      05/08/2013 at 8:13 pm

Can’t be used for appeal. Not only was it objected to, but it was sustained and stricken from the record. So the comment does not exist as a basis for an appeal.

Ohhh Kate. My deepest heart felt condolences to you. I read upstairs and see that your college aged son was murdered. It must be very hard for you now and always. This is not something that one ever recovers from – you just continue on. Sometime, and if you are able to, please post about what happened to your beloved son. I surely hope that the person responsible was held accountable by the courts, not that that in of itself can make things right. As you well know, nothing can do that but justice from the courts is so important. When I occasionally see Kim Goldman on TV I get ill thinking of what it must be like to see the justice & court system slam the door in your face.

Yeah for a laugh 😝 someone saying can’t have pre med AND felony, either brought the gun or was Travis’. Duh, pre med was the phony trip to see Ryan, the gas cans, the phone off, the gun being Travis’ and her taking it was a bonus felony conviction. Damned either way. Ah it’s a great day, my timing to wake up was perfect. Sadly no cocktails for me, hi ho hi ho it’s off to work I go.

I don’t understand how anyone could think she is innocent when she admitted she did it. Is there a book called “Lying Liars Who Lie and the People Who Are Willing to Believe Anything Unless it Goes Against the Lie of a Lying Liar”…or something similiar that could help me better understand that mentality?

      • 05/08/2013 at 5:59 pm

Couldn’t find her innocent of the crime (well I guess they could have), just the reasons for committing it. Obviously the Innocents have bought into her lies. So greatfull the jury didn’t

I love hearing this so much! Truly, I love your comments on Sweet Boy and the Mama cat with her new kittens. We too have coyotes here, I live captured the mom and got her fixed after her last litter. I use the kids old play house that I have adapted so that they are all safe at night from predators and this has worked for the last 2 years. We now have a small clan that I feed and some will even allow me to hand feed and pet. I love love love that you took her in!

Adapted playhouse is genius! I love that you have a small cat clan! Bless YOU for taking them in, getting them fixed and loving them (when they let you)!!!
We joke that we suspect there are little “Kitty Billboards” along the road, with a big arrow, pointing to our place this time of year! Somehow we end up with lots of “unwed mothers”! Fortunately, we have a wonderful vet that gives us a break on spaying and neutering- so we “fix” as many as we can catch. This mama had clearly had a family, she was very tame, very loving- as soon as she’s done nursing, I will bring her to the vet to be spayed- she and Sweet Boy have a truly unique bond, I think she is HIS 🙂

        05/08/2013 at 6:33 pm

or, engaged in theft after being “unwanted” in the house. I think I got a kickout of 7 voting for that also. They could have meant the bedding or a knief maybe.. All 12 said premeditated murder. For 5 of them, the issue of ‘burglary’ was not persuasive in addition to the murder planned and done. At leastr hats my take on it. Maybe someone has additional thoughts.

ok I did it… I went to the Innocents… the thing that stood out to me most was amount of comments posted… pre verdict… 200+. Post verdict 17. And not surprising… already discussing appeals.

I love watching Wilmot’s head cock as she does the math and realizes, as they’re reading the breakdown of jury findings, that they ALL convicted her of premeditation. I suspect that they were counting on at least one person only convicting on felony manslaughter. I think it’s probably much more difficult to avoid the DP if you’ve been convicted of premeditation than felony manslaughter. What do you think?

Some of them walked away from the TV because they couldn’t bear to hear the verdict in case it was the wrong one. Have to admit the we had a delayed reaction when the verdict was read because we didn’t understand it. Then one of the old gals turned around and yelled, “THEY GOT IT RIGHT!! THEY GOT HER!!,, and she started screaming at which time we all jumped up and just started screaming and jumping up and down!! Wow……they got it right!! GOOD JOB JUANITO!! Travis is smiling now as he stands by his family and sees the tears and smiles!! What a Juantastic day it is in Heaven!! Thank you Lord!! Best wishes to you Alexander Family and Friends!! In murder convictions one appeal is automatic – same in most if not all states

Appeals are always filed as a matter of course, but they are very hard to win. Look at all their mistrial motions, none of them worked. They will file them; but the odds are very much against them. This is the day and the verdict that matters the most. We can all breathe a huge sigh of relief.

Her uphill battle now is that SHE IS GUILTY …. and she will have to PROVE innocence. Yeah .. good luck with that Jodes’. A completely different ball game! lot of confusion about wrongful death statute of limitations. It’s 2 year . However – the discovery rule applies – being the clock on limitations begin the date cause of the injury is “discovered”. I do not know the details .. but the discovery clock in this case may be when JA admitted she killed him — before that the cause was (per ja) unknown, then ninjas.

Any legal beagles? Arizona law buffs?

I thought there was no limit for wrongful death, but I’m not 100% sure.
Only thing I am 100% sure about is for lesser crimes in CA, the statute is 1 yr from the date the crime occurred.

Well, then she should get life in prlson (in solitary confinement.)

      • Jill
        05/08/2013 at 7:34 pm

    • truejustice
      05/08/2013 at 7:31 pm

stupid girl … perhaps that is why she was arguing with her lawyers.. Stupid Girl!!

Hate to say this .. but I am hoping for life … instead of DP. Not because I do not think that she deserves DP.

Arizona has not actually executed a women since something like the 30’s (cant remember what decade??) The appeals process and such are forever ongoing and it will actually increase the likely hood of her getting her sentence reduced or thrown out all together (which is what happened to a female dp inmate in az recently). It is very probable that she will never be executed. There is a long list of lawyers who love to fight to get inmates removed from death row . She will always have the glimmer of hope that she will somehow get off and will still have sometype of “control” ! (I think this is why she want the dp)

However if she gets life.. I think she gets one appeal — and done. The list of lawyers willing to help her will be little no none! Although the confinement of death row would be difficult – she will not have hope! She will have not control !!

      • hottopic08
        05/08/2013 at 7:41 pm

I agree! As much as she deserves to feel that fear on judgement day I think justice would truly be served for her to spend the rest of her life in general population with no hope of never seeing the light of day.

      • HJ Madison
        05/08/2013 at 7:45 pm

Ordinarily I would agree. But, some time back, Jim (I think) told us that life on Death Row is SOOO much more restrictive than LWOP. She only gets out of her little cell like 3 times a week, for 2 hours of exercise and 2 showers per week. Restricted visitation, etc… LWOP means she could end up in the general population and run her own little WOBO show from there. Wish Jim would weigh in again.

      • NancyB
        05/08/2013 at 7:57 pm

Hi truejustice! I disagree. A few months ago I felt LWOP would be an acceptable sentence, even knowing that the family wanted death. I now want death. She would acclimate into the prison population easily and she would have so many more privileges in general population. In AZ, unlike CA, she will have absolutely no contact with other inmates, only TWO phone calls allowed weekly and just for 10 minutes, an hour outside in a cage 3x weekly, 3 showers a week, 2 appliances allowed and TV stations permitted in prison are very limited. Personal property allowed in the cell are very limited. No, I want death so that she is totally isolated.

The overturn of Milke’s death sentence appears to be fair. While I have at times questioned the 9th circuit’s rulings, I abhor anyone being sentenced to death without a ton of confirmative evidence. That was absent in this case.

“Her convictions and the related sentence were tossed out Thursday by a federal appeals court judge. In explaining his decision, Chief Judge Alex Kozinski of the federal 9th Circuit Court of Appeals chided the prosecution for remaining “unconstitutionally silent” on the “history of misconduct” of its key witness, a Phoenix police detective.

“The Constitution requires a fair trial,” Kozinski wrote. “This never happened in Milke’s case. The judge and jury believed Saldate,” said Kozinski of the verdict and sentence. “But they didn’t know about Saldate’s long history of lying under oath and other misconduct.”

How come the bailif didn’t put her in handcuffs right after verdict? It seems like she’s getting special treatment. She is now a convicted murderer. Why didn’t we get the satisfaction of seeing her in handcuffs like all criminals are in?

So happy for the Alexander family!!!!

In no way surprised jodi is doing interviews and saying she wants the death penalty. HER MANIPULATION truly knows no bounds. Her BPD immaturity ( or whatever personality disorder that applies) shows so fluidly here!! She is like the child screaming “fine, ground me! I wanted to be grounded anyway” or ” fine, take my dessert, I hate cake anyway” she will spin her web until the day she dies. Jodi will NEVER take responsibility.. But that’s okay 🙂 once her luxury life of fame in the general population of prison is gone, there will be no one to hear her lies, or care about her story. No commissary, no singing contests, no selling any ridiculous “artwork” nada, nothing, zip. Travis can be at peace, his family can be at peace, and the message that was put forth by the jurors is that we will not believe liars. We will not let you drag an innocent mans name through the mud. Today, and forever more jodi loses. Whether she realizes it or not 🙂

The best thing we could all do to punish Jodi is to ignore her. How upset can you be if you still have the composure to
OMG she’s accusing Juan Martinez of hiding evidence! NG producer thinks she’s referring to the forged letters. And she’s praying for the jurors? Right! She just can’t stand anyone beating her, it’s that “I win” attitude of a sociopath, same reason why she’s wishing the family peace. MY A. Too bad prosecution locked in on the borderline disorder diagnosis; to me this sounds like a sociopath. (I’m not criticizing Juan here, just saying what Synatra’s been saying all along, she seems more like a sociopath than anything else.) She is so calculating. Even at this moment when she should be falling apart. Astounding, But you know what it doesn’t matter. No one cares, she’s convicted.

I think it’s because she’s not sorry and doesn’t know how to even pretend or at least not continue rubbing salt in their wounds because nothing is her fault. It’s everyone else. They lost Travis forever, but “What about me?? She needs to just go away where she’s just another number and no body cares about her point of view on anything.

  129. Jill

I think Stabby Einstein (love that term) is trying to use reverse psychology by saying…”I want the death penalty” …hoping she won’t get it…. I hope the jury says…oh, ok.. Let’s give her that, at least. And there goes the spotlight as she has no one to tweet, give interviews to (except in her head) for 23 fecking hours a day. I bet the jury could live with their decision if they believe she really wants it…a small gesture, as it were.
    Bring. It. On.

        05/08/2013 at 9:41 pm

        It really is so fitting.
I think the jurors should know the DP sentence they (hopefully) recommend will give her years of life in prison….and the best part would be the stark difference, as someone pointed out ( think it was Jim), of the daily life on death row as opposed to LWOP…. No spotlight she so craves … 23 hours a day in her CELL … No singing contests or BFFs.. That part is OVER…and for someone as narcissistic as she is that would truly be the suffering she deserves.

That rotating bitch is still playing the victim in her interview with Fox. I guess it’s not surprising. She will never stop. It’s always someone else’s fault. She’s even blaming her lawyers. Apparently she had a big screaming match with them after sentencing which delayed her transport back to jail.

She’s so manipulative she’s even saying she wants death to try and take the satisfaction out of it.

I am elated at the first degree premeditated/ felony verdict. I do want to confess that I would never have qualified for this jury. In good conscience, as much as I believe someone is undeserving of life Commiting a heinous horrIfic murder, I don’t think I could ever vote to sentence someone to death. It’s just not in me.

Whyyyyy does the media give her a forum? Ok, I know , that’s obvious, money, it’s all about money. But if no one gave her a forum, she wouldn’t be able to continue her power plays. So obvious that that faux display of caring for the family was a way to say “I win. You don’t win, you think you do, but I’m going to stick what I did to Travis in your face.” Wow. Just astounding. The other thing I noticed is that even though she was upset about the verdict, she still leaned over and whispered in the mitigation specialist’s ear the way she did before the verdict. It just seemed like she snapped out of her distress pretty quickly!

And she had respect for Juan. What an oxymoron! She calls him by his first name, but says she has respect for him.
This interview was a big f-u to everyone. It’s her most important need right now, to get back a feeling of control.
And when asked what she plans to do with the rest of her life (ouch!) by the reporter she says she hasn’t decided yet. ! Excuse me, but you don’t actually get to make any decisions anymore. Oh, she probably is trying to decide if she’s going to commit suicide or not, that’s probably what she meant. Well, you don’t get to make that decision either. It’s unconscionable the Sheriff’s office allowed that interview to take place. Access given to a convicted murderer when the trial is still going on? There must have been a political pay off here. Is that local Fox affiliate a supporter of Arpaio?

    • Lisa M
      05/09/2013 at 10:35 am

Thank u Jay. I agree, it was unconscionable. Never was a big Mark Geragos fan but I totally agree with what he said on CNN: he wondered if Arpaio orchestrated it himself. Mr. Tough Guy Sheriff, who said on an interview with Nancy Grace a while back that she doesnt get special treatment, was obviously full of crap. If I were Juan Martinez Id be throwing a fit about this.

        05/08/2013 at 11:14 pm

        CCs Circle said it best:
if she brought the gun, it’s premed
if she used Travis’ gun, it’s a felony.
she set herself up for that by saying it was TA’s gun….

      • Kristy
        05/08/2013 at 11:24 pm

I think it would have been a felony if she stole her grandparents gun as well and brought it over state lines. But, I wonder if felony also just meant she killed him. I got a little jumbled with some of the rules.

I am so happy for the relief that Travis’s family must be feeling now. I can’t stop thinking about all that they have gone through.

  166. 05/08/2013 at 11:01 pm

Are you kidding me??? How was this interview allowed? What is up over there? Between the courtroom shenanigans and this, it has truly been a circus to remember. I have never in my life seen someone convicted then give interviews. She is loving every minute of this with her brushed hair and lip gloss (my hub swears she has some type of light eyeliner on her upper lid or maybe a douse of mascara. Regardless, how is this allowed? So disappointing. Esp since the trial is tech still going on.

    • Kristy
      05/08/2013 at 11:10 pm

There was rumor of a disagreement with her attorneys after the verdict, it must have been about the interview. It validates my thoughts awhile ago that she always knew she’d be found guilty and wanted more limelight.

She’s such a psycho. Such a shame Travis couldn’t see her black heart earlier. At least justice is prevailing.

I thought Jodi’s interview was telling in that she indicated she’d been told, by it sounded like a therapist that society wanted to hurt someone. Maybe I’m wrong, but I got the impression it was from either alyce or Samuels, which would reinforce the bias they had for her. Although they both did such a shytty job defending her, I wondered if it was their way of having their cake ($$$) and living with themselves afterwards. At least I would hope so since neither seemed to help her at all.

I’m afraid Jodi is still trying to manipulate things by her interview. On one hand she sounds like the child that says that’s what I wanted all along, when they don’t. Someone said that above. At the same time, I think the DF may try to use this as ammo for Jodi being crazy, and bringing in yet another lame defense. I don’t think it will fly. Seems her goose was cooked before her idiotic post trial interview.

One word of justice for Travis today: GUILTY. Jodi Arias is a danger to society, should never be free, and I am so relieved the jury saw through her sociopathic, self serving LIES. Must mention what I observed on Jodi’ side of the family during trial: 1) Members of Jodi family LAUGHED when photos of Travis slashed neck were shown. Yes, gleefully laughed. Also, I was worried when Jodi’ Grandmother was wheeled into court in a wheelchair. But today, verdict day, NO WHEELCHAIR! Tonight Grandma was even observed/filmed leaving the jail, after visiting Jodi, walking, perfectly well. Grandma even “Four wheeling” in her tennis shoes over landscaping rocks and gravel to get to the car. The wheelchair was a scam! (Maybe this borderline personality runs in her family.) MANIPULATION! Most people do not understand psychopaths such as Jodi. They are VERY different from us. They have no empathy (Except for themselves). Good book to read: “The Sociopath Next Door” by Martha Stout.

Justice for Travis today! Poor Travis. My prayers are with him and his family now. Travis only realized Jodi was a sociopath when it was too late. In my (Being stalked) experience, I survived my (Female, psychopathic) stalker because (Another) boyfriend of hers’ murdered her before she got to me. PLEASE LEARN THE RED FLAGS in men (And women) psychopaths so you will avoid them and save your own life. Yes, many borderlines, sociopaths and psychopaths may be good looking, shy and charming such as Jodi Arias, Scott Peterson and Ted Bundy; but trust your gut and know the warning signs! Read this interesting story on the FBI website on: “The language of psychopaths.” Then tell me you also see the same (Psychopathic) traits in Jodi Arias. THANK YOU, JURY!! You did the right thing.

The fact that Jodi Arias gave this post-conviction interview and made her “wishes” known about what she wants…the death penalty, is completely irrelevant. She doesn’t get a choice. The jury should decide based on her crime irrespective of her desires. We all know she is likely trying to manipulate the whole process, so she should just be ignored.

    • Lisa M
      05/09/2013 at 6:23 am

Great point Crystal. I just think she showed herself to be exactly what Travis knew her to be in that interview: evil. What she says has no relevance on anything and shame on the TV networks who interview her and shame on whoever allowed her to give that interview. Someone should make a serious complaint to Maricopa County for allowing that travesty to occur yesterday.

Just re-checked this (Jodi Arias) second Twitter account and it’s still active. (This one where she impersonates Travis and refers to him as a pedophile.) Travis@jodi_Arias. It’s disgusting–just like her. Not only does she stalk, torture and murder Travis, she is still dragging his reputation through the mud with this Twitter account! Someone (Twitter) please shut this one down!!

      https://twitter.com/Jodi_Arias

Also, the BEST way to honor Travis memory is to ask everyone to NOT buy Arias artwork, manifesto -etc. To COMPLETELY IGNORE HER, once she is sentenced. Since she craves media attention and being in the spotlight, lets all agree to give her what she now deserves–to be “Banished” and IGNORED by everyone. To request journalists and news people to never interview her again. To refuse to follow her on Facebook, Twitter-etc. Let her stay alone in a cell.. Forgotten and shunned. THAT’S what Jodi Arias deserves. Instead, remember the VICTIM, Travis Alexander.

Now that she is convicted the laws about her profiting kick in. AZ has a further reaching law . Cant find too much on it – but from as I understand it she will be unable to make any money while in custody .. except from work duties and offered arts and crafts (in some cases).

I agree! Regarding Jodi Arias still profitting from her artwork-etc., the Alexander family has just hired an attorney to file a civil suit against Arias for wrongful death. So, once Arias is convicted, (Hopefully) the Alexander’ family attorney can “seize” all those profits in the civil lawsuit. One (Huge) culprit is the website: Jodi is innocent.com which asks for Pay Pal donations for her and her family. (Maybe someone should alert the Internal Revenue Service on Jodi Arias “undeclared income.”) It’s called TAX EVASION!

Great interview. Amazing, that letter she sent him. Wow. Reminds me of her secret message in the magazine. She was constantly trying to orchestrate things and manipulate people behind bars. Ryan seems like a great guy. His assessment of her is right on the mark. He also was extremely helpful to the police. That’s why she said he lied. She was seething that she couldn’t control him.

There are now 7 parts to the Arias post-verdict interview on Fox. More fiction and lies.

Arias claims there was NO pre-meditation …. yada, yada, …. society has a need to persecute people …. yada, yada …. there is one very emotional portion when Arias talks about her mom. At least she doesn’t make any attempts to stand on her head. Hahahaaa

The Arizona Fox station is going to compile all 7 segments.

    • 05/09/2013 at 7:53 am

She is the most delusional person I have ever seen! If her mother was this true ‘saint’ she would have been honest with her child, and convinced her to tell the truth, and accept the punishment that she deserves for her crime. A ‘saint’ wouldn’t sit in court everyday, laughing it up while the prosecution shows gruesome photos of what their child did to another human being! This ‘woman’ is no saint! She’s a loser!!

    • Janna
      05/09/2013 at 11:27 am

What struck me about this piece of the interview is how “emotional” Arias became when asked about her mom. She lost all composure. It’s the most genuine emotion I’ve ever seen in Arias!

  205. 05/09/2013 at 7:49 am

Good Morning All. Great Morning, huh? I just watched the interview on Fox w/JA….and I just wanted to say about that that she is STILL trying to manipulate! The fact that she did that interview immediately after her conviction, shows how she is still calculating and in control. She kept in contact with the reporter who did the interview since January, just in case she needed him; just in case of this outcome. She says she wants the DP, but we all know that’s not true! If this bitch wanted to die, or kill herself, she would be dead already! She is still trying to manipulate the situation. If by the off chance the jury gets to see this interview, even though we know they shouldn’t and likely wouldn’t, she thinks that she can influence them to give her LWOP! She does not want to be on death row….at all! But based on all her manipulating, and the fact that she STILL couldn’t apologize to TA family, or show ANY kind of remorse in that interview, she deserves the DP, and I hope the jury can oblige her!!!!!!!!!

    • Dewey
      05/09/2013 at 7:56 am

how does this interview play into the penalty phase? can it be used against her? she continues to call travis an abuser 10 minutes after the verdict.

    • 05/09/2013 at 8:08 am

That’s the prob with JA….she still doesn’t get it. She can’t help but try to manipulate…it’s part of her personality disorder. She is delusional, and doesn’t get that it’s over for her. As for how this interview will play in the next phases….I don’t know. I sure our great legal minds on here can let us know what, if any, impact this interview will have on the next phases.

  206. 05/09/2013 at 8:05 am

Morning WTJ. Morning to Dewey and anyone else who is up and about.
Yes, she is still and IMHO, will always be attempting to manipulate one and all.
Now she is on suicide watch which is pretty restrictive.. A taste of what is to come..DP.
Regardless of what she says she wants, I agree with you that she would have committed suicide if that was her desire..”to be free”. All part of her pathology. She is incapable of remorse so even if she turns on the waterworks, it is fake. Vs he still thinks she is smarter then everyone and can turn it around….

Bethany posted in a link to part 4 of fox interview with Jodistein… if you’re interested I watched it and made some observations re her eye movements. Posting it in case any of you want to watch the interviews and keep these thoughts in mind as you watch her and relate them to what she is saying at the time.

Unfortunately heavily edited, commercial footage is of very limited value. It’s raw footage from her cell we need, like the interrogation videos. Interviews such as these demonstrate how convincingly and easily she lies but will rarely give deeper insights. They highlight her need to manipulate and control but beyond that they are of no real value.

Most significant in these clips (or what I could be bothered watching of them) is many times she will look [her] left for a while but before she answers almost invariably she will look [her] right

I believe the downward motion in her glancing is [mostly] contrived. Normally it’s indicative of access feelings but in Jodi’s case I think it is naive to believe this. I think it is practiced to look demure and non threatening, to elicit sympathy However the direction she looks to before, and while, doing this is highly significant.

Left is indicative of remembering… Right of creating.. So she is recalling passed cues [what she has said , what she should say, how she should say it], then creating a lie to suit.

For example to get you started…. If you watch vid 4 of the fox interviews as re- posted below…. look when she says about what she would do differently when she comes out of the ‘fog’ in the desert.. looks up to [her] right almost the whole time!!!! There was no fog so all she says there HAS to be lies and her eye movement mirrors this fact. Watch out for it, then apply the same principle throughout. Keep in mind a lot of her downward glancing is likely contrived for her persona so just look at direction she glances to relative to her.

When she looks left she is thinking about how to formulate her lie based on past experiences of successful lies, right she is actually fabricating the lie.

Also…. watch for biological (anatomical ) evidence of crying – tears, red eyes, swollen eyes, runny nose, deep swallows – not just the outward signs that are easily manufactured.

Well, you already answered most of my jotted down Q’s for you! Of course! Great observations, as usual!
What I noticed when she was asked about making eye contact with Travis’s sisters, filled me with rage- her body language (according to my “mom degree”) showed total contempt! That answer seemed SO planned, so intentional! She was waiting for the opportunity that question provided her! I was also struck by the (looking right) when asked about the bloody hands in the desert- yeah, suuuuuure she wishes she had turned around and gone to the Mesa PD!
I hope Juan uses this during the penalty phase! (I bet he gotta “kick” out of her slamming him re: the accusation he buried evidence…)

Morning everyone!! Finally justice for Travis and his family. I’m glad the jury came back with the right verdict but this is still so very sad. I just keep thinking about all that Travis’ family will miss out on and I could just cry. JA will never admit she is at fault or wrong and that is the thing that makes me the maddest. Hello all in room and even beyond.
Found I’m spending time thinking of the “game theory” parlance in the film “Beautiful Mind.” Figure wobo got the interview (how the hell did that happen?)to tell the jurors she “wants” the death penalty because she “really want”s LWOP. She figures the jury hates; and that when they hear that she “really” wants the death penalty, they’ll switch and make it LWOP because “they” don’t want to give ‘he’r what she ‘really wants’..

So, they all got to be thinking with the mindset of the wobo.
Sort…,I know what you know and I know that you know what I know and I’m STILL gonna let you know that I know. Or something like that.

Thank you for your great coverage of this trial, I have questions I wonder if someone may be able to answer.

    1) Why did Jody not stand during the reading of the Verdict?
    2) Did anyone get Juans reaction to the verdict on film? I know he could not make a statement but I did not even see him in court.
    3) Will there be evidence come in during the mitigation phase that was not allowed in during trial?
    4) When the judge said not to talk to the media yesterday before leaving the bench, did that not include Jody?

    • Jill
      05/09/2013 at 9:55 am

Great questions…I’ve been wondering some of the same things..

    • ritanita
      05/09/2013 at 10:09 am

      1. Not every judge makes the defendant stand for the verdict.
      2. From what I’ve heard, Juan left the courtroom immediately after court adjourned. There were only so many camera angles to covered. I’m assuming the defendant and the families were the main priorities.
      3. First, we have to get through the aggravation phase. Only if the jury agrees to the aggravation, will we move on to mitigation. From what I know, this is when we will hear about Jodi’s life and why she should be spared the death penalty. We will also have the victim impact statements. The mitigation specialist we have been dissing is in charge of lining up pro-Jodi witnesses. This will have mostly new material from the trial.
      4. The judge was talking to the jury (and probably the attorneys).

      Hope that helps.

      • ritanita
        05/09/2013 at 10:12 am

Oops, forgot about Jodi. Remember, she’s “different” and does as she pleases. She keeps forgetting that everything she says can and WILL be used against her!

  223. 05/09/2013 at 9:52 am

  224. Jill
    05/09/2013 at 9:53 am

Don’t understand why she wasn’t handcuffed immediately after verdict was read? Isn’t that protocol for a convicted murderer? And how did she get 45 minutes of free time to do that interview? It seems like she has so many rights that convicted murderers shouldn’t have!

    • Lisa M
      05/09/2013 at 10:24 am

something I was wondering and don’t know if it was already discussed but if stabby gets the DP and later realizes ‘oops, i don’t really want to die’ couldn’t the Fox interview be used to quash any of her appeals?

  226. ritanita
    05/09/2013 at 10:04 am

Nancy B. asked where I was yesterday and I responded way up there! So, for those who don’t re-read the WHOLE THING, I’m copying and pasting my response:

Ritanita gets very tired after hearing a verdict and lays down and goes to sleep. LOL! I wake very early in the morning, thanks to a very food-addicted kitten. I’ve just spent hours reading and reading and watching all the HLN I DVR’d so that I could skip Jean and a lot of the junk!

I’ve also watched as much of the infamous interview as was available. Donchais will tell you I’m a glutton for punishment! It interested me tremendously that she still hasn’t learned to keep her trap shut. I’ve come to believe that she believes that everything she believes is true. Of course, what she BELIEVES is totally delusional.

Well, let’s see if the jury gives her what she SAYS she wants!

    • 05/09/2013 at 10:16 am

HI Ritanita…. thanks for backing up our oh so illustrious leader in her times of need! Your support of Donchais is very important as I am sure you already know! 😀 Thank YOU!!

Re her ‘delusion’: While to most I understand it presents as delusion and it is hard to understand it beyond that. with Jodistein it is not delusion per se, it is simply a pathological need to create, present, convince and control her own chosen version of reality. It is part of the ‘god complex’ associated with malignant narcissim.

I know I know.. it sounds like the same thing. But it is quite different in it’s manifestation and certainly not traditional delusion. Delusion is psychotic based, Jodistein is far from psychotic. Her machinations are deliberate attempts to manipulate perception. Very different in nature.

a little off topic but i was just watching the Castro arraignment. don’t ya just love these cowards who prey on women and children and don’t have the onions to even hold their heads up or make eye contact with anyone in court.

    • 05/09/2013 at 10:30 am

ogm how dibolical was that comment by Jodi…. I know off on a tangent to your post.. but how brazen is she… oh I didn’t make eye contact with any of the family cos they all look alike and it reminds me of Travis, my abuser” seriously.. even though I was trying to be in objective mode that REALLY pushed it!!! I was like… OMFG seriously??? now THAT needs to be played to the jury!!!! and needs to be pointed out when it was said.

        05/09/2013 at 10:54 am

Syntara I read your post above where u said she’s not delusional but needs to create and control her own reality and I personally believe that’s what she was doing in that interview in addition to saying I still win. She was basically saying to all those who think they’ve won that they haven’t: Travis’ family, society, Juan, and even her own lawyers. When she said she wants to die because that’s the ultimate freedom it was a f-u to the prison system. She covered all her bases in that interview. My question to you is Im wondering if her doing that interview also reflects a psychopathic tendency to be impulsive. Dr. DeMarte said Jodi isn’t impulsive, but from what I’ve read about psychopaths they tend to be impulsive. I’m just wondering what u think.

    • 05/09/2013 at 10:50 am

lol got a few better ideas than cigarettes…. and ya gotta laugh at that.. I’m healthy so I’ll live a long time.. well duh! make yourself unhealthy then and die biatch … her logic is non existant and the lack of it shows her lies glaringly.

Good morning Syn. Not long after I worked up the courage to join this blog, you were kind enough to offer me an explanation about Arias’ psychopathy. You gave me the “empty shell” analogy. That has been a useful frame of reference for me.

As the trial moved forward I began to interpret many of her behaviors and actions as “demonic.” There must be a whole lot more to her psychopathy that we don’t know. From a lay person perspective, I’m seeing a young lady whose noggin is well-inhabited by demons. I don’t know how to connect “empty shell” with all those malicious demon characters.

Morning all. 👋👋. Such a great morning! I’ve come to the conclusion that I will not let this imbecile make me mad anymore! Yesterday she finally LOST and will continue to lose everyday of her miserable life from this point forward.

If she gets in court, (and we all know she will speak again, can’t help herself) I hope she does ask for the DP and the jury accommodates her. Not because it what she wants, it’s exactly what the State and Alexander family want!

    • MMD
      05/09/2013 at 11:57 am

That’s the way I feel LL – it’s time for the state and the victims to call the shots!

  230. 05/09/2013 at 10:48 am

Am I off in this thought, but in JA’s interview when asked what would she do in hindsight when seeing the blood on her hands in the desert and that she would go to Mesa PD, isn’t that odd? How would she know she did something to Travis or something in Mesa area and not something along the way if she was in a real fog??

    05/09/2013 at 10:50 am

    Good morning, kids. 🙂

If she REALLY wanted to die she would have killed herself years ago. Why delay and delay a trial to try to get off then? Evil skank.

I think someone should call her bluff. According to some attorneys I was listening to last night, she can just say — You know what? Let’s not go through this penalty phase–I want the DP–she has the right to do that. And why wouldn’t she if she “really wanted the ultimate freedom?”
Call her ass out on it, Judge or JM.

Of course she won’t do that — it is her show and she’s been running it.

But a girl can dream, no?

    • 05/09/2013 at 10:54 am

it’s just part of her need to convince herself she is in control of everyone… she gets the death penalty she can say to herself “they did what I asked, I’m still in control of my destiny” they don’t give her the DP… she thinks “yeah, my ploy worked, idiots”

      • CC ...
        05/09/2013 at 10:58 am

Oh, I know … thanks to your brilliant observations for us (ty, btw). Hey, I really don’t care if she thinks she is in control of this little ploy…..as long as the jury comes back and gives her the DP….AND she is confined to that cell for 23 hours a day on death row AND someone butches up and cuts off her oxygen, i.e. limelight, interviews, microphones, tweets, etc…., she can think she is in control all she wants.

(Try not to hold back next time, CC) 😉

      05/09/2013 at 10:57 am

    • Lisa M
      05/09/2013 at 11:21 am

It doesn’t matter anyway because either way she won’t get the DP right away so she’ll be in jail for a long period of time anyway. Unless they expedite it (?) Either way this is just a ploy, a way to say Im above all of you, as if she’s God and has determined that “Death is the ultimate freedom.” Does she really know that? So now she’s not a mere human like the rest of us? It’s a way for her to say, you can’t hurt me, it’s just a way for her to strike back at the verdict and the control that was taken away from her. She really is a sick individual. No normal person would be that composed and that articulate after a first degree verdict.

      • Lisa M
        05/09/2013 at 11:27 am

The other thing that stood out for me was that Wilmott seemed more upset by the verdict than she did. It almost seemed as if Wilmott was the one on trial for her life. Jodi did get upset once the verdict was read but more ’cause she was surprised that she didn’t pull one over on the jury I think.

    Lisa M :
Syntara I read your post above where u said she’s not delusional but needs to create and control her own reality ,,,,

…. Dr. DeMarte said Jodi isn’t impulsive, but from what I’ve read about psychopaths they tend to be impulsive. I’m just wondering what u think.

What context did Dr DeMarte say that in.. because it surprises me she would say that in general because BPD sufferers tend to be extremely impulsive as they are governed by their emotional state at any given moment.

As for her motives in the interviews re DP… see my comment to CC… I believe it’s just as usual related to her pathological need to control or feel like she is in control.

    • Lisa M
      05/09/2013 at 11:15 am

She said it in relation to the different scales she scored within the diagnosis of borderline disorder. . She said Jodi scored low in impulsivity.

      • 05/09/2013 at 11:17 am

yeah… as she pointed out.. those scale names can be misleading.. they are directed to the professional not to the lay man.. remember how much trouble she had pointing that out to Willmott.. willmot kept trying to interpret the scale names literally and Dr Demarte said you can’t do that?

Question that may have been addressed already.

    5 jurors found premeditated
    0 jurors found felony murder
7 jurors found both premeditated and felony murder

That means that they were unanimous on the premeditated aspect, right?

    • 05/09/2013 at 11:20 am

Elexa…I think it was 5 jurors for felony…0 for premeditated….and 7 for both felony and premeditated. I could be wrong.

It seems like she’s manipulated even the mean, hardened prison girls.
I know that when nancy grace went to the jail and did some interviews, the women seemed to all talk so highly of jodi. I don’t get it.

    • Lisa M
      05/09/2013 at 11:35 am

You know what? A lot of things Jodi said in that interview bothered me and I didn’t like that either but these fans of hers are all criminals. Not to be judgmental but who really cares if they admire her? If that makes her feel good about herself, well, let her have it. So a drug addict or a check forger wants her autograph. Woo hoo! She’s a star!

    • Kristi
      05/09/2013 at 11:46 am

Jill, The first two words you said are key, “WOBO said” as we know just be cause Jodi says something doesnt mean its true. I’m sure in her mind, she thinks she is the princess of prison. In reality however, I’m sure the perceptions of her in jail mimic those we have seen on the outside. Probably most are creeped out by her, some may like her at first but soon realize how rotten she is. There will always be the creepy freaks like Donoman, Gus Searcy and La toilette who think she’s neat but they are the tiny minority.

Keep in mind too that those women are criminals, so many might ask for her autograph for the sole reason of thinking they can sell it when they get out. They might just be saying what they think NG wants to hear to get on tv. After all, if they told the producers “don’t know her, don’t want to” they would get the interview.

  245. 05/09/2013 at 11:25 am

    Good morning,,All…
I heard this morning that the Fox interview was arranged thru the court but don’t know how. Apparently she called Fox Sunday and said she had promised the reporter a post verdict interview years ago.. The reporter made the arraingments thru the court. He was asked last night onVanSusterns show if he spoke to her lawyers first. He said no way.! He knew they wouldn’t approve, so Wurmi and Wilmot did not know she was doingit. Supposedly that’s. what the argument heard coming from her holding cell between DT and JA was about, He spent 45 minutes with her so there are more segments coming.
Jose Baez made a funny comment last night when he was talking to Vinnie P… Paraphrasing….he said JA wouldn’t need to worry about DP phase. He would kill her himself when he found out about the interview.
Looking forward to more Juan today.

Good Morning my friends! Before heading upstairs and catching up, I want to thank all of you who posted links to the Katiecoollady radio and Fox interviews of the GUILTY JA. I was up until the wee hours watching, listening and taking notes of Q’s I wanted to ask Syn, and others…. Well, I awoke this morning, with my headphones wrapped around my face and neck! I wonder if I strangled myself in my sleep, if my hubby could call Juan and add my death to his charges against JA? Lol!

In watching those interviews (all 7), I was amazed by the fact it was allowed? I heard that she was screaming at her attorney’s just prior to sitting down with the reporter! Clearly, they were trying to stop her from shooting her mouth off again! It was more manipulation, more “poor me” and lies. None of what she said impacted me in the least, until she went “there”… Her saying, (I’m paraphrasing) “I tried to not make eye contact with his sisters, because they all look so much alike, and they remind me of the face of the man that abused me”! Horrifying to me that she was given this media opportunity to cause more pain to Travis and his family. Even after being convicted of Premeditated/ Felony Murder in the 1st Degree, she’s “in charge”! I pray that the jury does not give her LWOP…. She needs the DP, because nothing else will stop her from causing more pain.

In the fox interview when talking about the autographs, her persona changed to glee and pride while she recalled being idolized in prison. The narcissistic display was exactly what her lawyers did not want her to expose. Does any one know if the sentencing phase will be able to use this? Not that she needs any more examples to back up the existing character flaws showing lack of remorse.

In anticipation of the Fox interview dissection, i knew that you and everyone here is astutely more accurate and interesting than tv talking head experts. Some pretty bright bulbs in this sandbox.

Hiya all again. Been on the phone for hours. A friend from Ontario figured it was safe to call because she heard that there was a verdict. I hadn’t been answering before 😆 ………………naw, I haven’t been obsessed 😉

    • 05/09/2013 at 11:41 am

wondered where you disappeared to! Hope you are fine and dandy today! 😀 nice to hear you are catching up with some neglected friends.. I know the feeling.. spent the afternoon with a friend of mine too. Actually no thought of Jodistein.. can you believe it????

It was nice to just laugh and catch up. I had a mini rant at the beginning of the convo but after that the trial never came up at all. In fact I was talking about you darlin’

      • 05/09/2013 at 11:48 am

omg.. couldn’t you find a better topic!!! 😛 glad you had a good laugh though!

Was JA’s letter to Ryan Burns ever published? If so, where can it be found? I saw on a program they showed the letter (3 or 4 pages I think) but it went so fast. Tx.

Sorry but I’m gonna ask again, cuz I’m so curious.

Anyone know about the defenses motion for discovery regarding victim impact statements?

    • 05/09/2013 at 11:59 am

I am equally curious Katie and saw this the first time you asked and was waiting for some of these great minds to clear this up for me. Is it just blowing smoke on JA’s part or could the judge really grant this?

    • Katie
      05/09/2013 at 12:03 pm

I know 😦 it just seems like another way for her to control something. Like saying to the family, “nothing you say is gonna shock or affect me, I got to read it all before just so I could spoil your moment you have been waiting for, for 5 years!!”

      • 05/09/2013 at 12:09 pm

I agree and I am glad you said that Katie because I was wondering what possible reason could she have for wanting to know the impact statements ahead of time.

  253. 05/09/2013 at 11:49 am

I love how JA says in that Fox interview, when asked about her thoughts on what the public thinks of her, and she says….”a psychologist once told me that the public needs to be mean to her, to make themselves feel better (puck!!)…” what psychologist? what Samuels?…LaViolette? That was your problem, sweetie! You listened to these hacks, and look where it got ya!!

On Dr. Drew last nite, Janine Driver was talking about the contempt the ho was showing after the verdict was read.

Also, I do not blame the foreperson at all for handing the verdict to the baliff before they sat down. The ho sure wanted to know who the foreperson was! Wonder if any of those jurors felt fear from the ho??

      05/09/2013 at 12:13 pm

If I was the foreperson I sure as hell wouldn’t want her to know it was me!!! 👿

Could it be the mom flew home b/c she had to go hide the money fast – open accounts, etc.?

Also is it true gramma wasn’t in a wheelchair yesterday? If so, how blatant is that?

    • 05/09/2013 at 12:05 pm

I was really surprised to hear the mom flew home. But maybe they have collected enough donations (just threw up in my mouth a little) that she can afford to just jet back and forth. I would think she would want to be around for this phase of the trial if she was really behind the murdering whore daughter.
Also, yes, I saw the clip and the grandmother was tooling around just fine without the wheelchair. Go figure
      🙄

o yeah it’s true! HLN showed footage of them after their jail visit. Jean K was trying to get them to talk to her. gma was not only NOT in the wheelchair, she was walking all over the place.up over a curb…
shame on the lot of them!

Have not an ounce of sympathy for that family. I truly don’t. In fact I actually feel badly that I don’t give a damn. I must have a character flaw 😦 Besides I saw gramma’s picture where she was standing with 2 male strippers/exotic dancers/whatever and one was holding her leg up. Lost all respect for the bunch of them there.

    Robert in Rotterdam :

The interview: the only way that could happen was Sheriff Joe Arpaio approved it. Arpaio is tight with Fox news. Like Arias, he’s a media hound. Throughout his career he’s sought media attention. Much of it from Fox and their affiliates. A few years back he even made a three episode tv show for Fox Reality Channel. If Judge Stevens had any balls (or in her case Vagina) she’d haul in the Sheriff and cite him for conspiracy to interfere in an ongoing legal proceeding. Also, if the jury is admonished not to talk to the media, isn’t the defendant under the same restraint? Maybe as penalty the judge could break all the points on her pencils.

Thanks Jay for the info. So Mark Geragos was right. Another reason to dislike Arpaio. What an sob. He’s supposed to punish criminals and yet he’s giving a convicted murderer a voice and a forum from which to continue torturing the family. There should be outrage from victims rights groups. This should not have been allowed.

Family of Law – first of all congrats on living the night. Second, congrats on being a grandmother to your new kittycats. 🙂 Mama’s Boy is gonna be in his glory with all those little ones around. 🙂 As for my babies, I have 3 shih tzu, 2 girls and a boy and they are all adorable!!!!! And they have short hair, none of this long hair with a ponytail on the top of the head. My kids would leave home if I ever tried to do that to them. Usually they come home from the groomers with a teeny tiny bow on their ear around Christmas that most times doesn’t even make it into the house. Definitely not fru fru dogs, just my babies 😀

re journaling, is this common for Mormons to journal (don’t mean to be offensive)? Seems JA has been doing it for quite a few years before meeting Travis. And he was journaling, some of which were stolen by JA – where would they be? Someone’s hiding them for her. or did JA introduce Travis to journaling?

Against my better judgment I just watched that Fox video. I actually gasped when she repeated the pedophilia claims and also when she said looking at Travis’s family is like looking at her abuser. I know Sentara has referred to Jodi as a malignant narcissist. While I don’t know that much about that term or diagnosis, that term is what the interview makes me think of. On one hand there are glimmers of normalcy and almost as if she’s taking some responsibility for her behavior, But then there’s mixed in with that such an intense arrogance and this sense or belief that she is special. She gives off this aura that I can’t quite describe. It’s almost as if she sees yourself as a kind of saintly figure or maybe a martyr. There’s such a huge disconnect between what she did and how she views herself that it’s really hard to reconcile the two.

    Janna :
Good morning Syn. Not long after I worked up the courage to join this blog, you were kind enough to offer me an explanation about Arias’ psychopathy. You gave me the “empty shell” analogy. That has been a useful frame of reference for me.
As the trial moved forward I began to interpret many of her behaviors and actions as “demonic.” There must be a whole lot more to her psychopathy that we don’t know. From a lay person perspective, I’m seeing a young lady whose noggin is well-inhabited by demons. I don’t know how to connect “empty shell” with all those malicious demon characters.

Wow Janna.. ok.. can I say this to summarise… and you can kind of make it less general if need be.

Psychopaths are best described as devils. I know it sounds trite but many of us who have come into contact with them and/or study them have no other word in the english language that better fits.

I am not one to use words purely for emotive sake unless of course I’m in a total rant.. then like anyone I can go off with the best of them!! but seriously a considered way to describe a true psychopath is “devil”. It is believed that many devil or evil characters in literature.. including many in Shakespearean plays and also in mythology and religion, are based on psychopaths.

Not to try to be controversial but merely from a clinical perspective, the devil, as depicted in the bible, is a pure psychopath. Existing only for hedonistic pleasures and leading anyone and everyone into hell, by use of any vice necessary or applicable to entice them, often unknowingly, into temptation.
