Jodi Arias Murder Trial – Penalty Phase

It was a win-win yesterday.  Travis, family and friends got their 1st degree murder verdict.  Juan Martinez and Esteban Flores proved their case!

Juan only need put Dr. Horn on the stand.

In one of her infamous TV interviews, Jodi claimed she would rather a death sentence than life in prison.  She repeated that last evening on Fox10.

So, if Jodi really feels that way, she will direct her defense not to put on a mitigation case.  Or is she such a maniac she will again take the stand and plead for mercy?

Will be interesting!

No court today. Reconvene May 15th at 10am.

Beth Karas suggested Jodi is getting evaluated…defense doing an end-run.

Holy crap, she’s still running the show!

    JA does what JA wants when JA wants. She’s still running the show and sadly, they are letting her run the entire show.

      Am I reading this right??? WOBO wants the Alexander family to do their victims impact statements on video tape? Why? Doesn’t she want to face them? It’s perfectly fine for her and the scumbags on her team to spend all this time TRASHING Travis, and NOW she wants to deprive them of their right to tell her what they think of her and what she’s done to them??? What’s the matter, WOBO, can’t take the TRUTH??? Good God, I hope the “judge” doesn’t okay this!!!

  6. 05/09/2013 at 5:02 pm

    HLN just said attorneys in chambers- families in court room as well as jurors..I thought the families left already

  7. 05/09/2013 at 5:04 pm

    Uniform deputies (4) went into court room

  8. 05/09/2013 at 5:05 pm

    She possibly wants the evaluation so that she gets more attention. She will get a psych evaluation if that seems necessary and the good doc may be a man who she can manipulate even more. What else does she have to do. She is selfish and horrendous. She doesn’t care about the jury, the family, the attorney or anyone but Jodistein. I hope they give her the death penalty. what would happen if she can convince some minion that she is bonkers? Does she get any reprieve?

  9. 05/09/2013 at 5:07 pm

    Someone needs to sit down to these people in charge .. and explain to them what this “thing” is really like.. and STOP letting her get away with all this crap. Why do so many people seem to bend over backwards for her when it’s so obvious she is a lying manipulative shell of a person? I don’t get it.

    OK assuming there is no other explanation for this delay crap. but someone else sick doesn’t seem like it should cause this delay so I can’t believe it’s that. Her “sick” oh yeah I CAN believe that one!

    • Carolyn
      05/10/2013 at 2:51 pm

      Probably the delay this week is due to JA’s insanity. The ME was not available to testify Monday or Tuesday of next week and so aggravating factor portion of the case will be postponed until Wednesday, 10 am Arizona time.

        You are so right. My son is bipolar and in his severe manic episodes he is so delusional that he taps on the walls sending messages to unknown people, comes up with fantastical plans any number of crazy things, will dress in bizarre clothing and can’t remember what he did the day before (real fog) but he would never hurt anyone and is still kind and funny. The other thing that happens when he is delusional is that he really can’t lie or cover anything up because his organizational skills fly out the window. Luckily those episodes don’t last long, but my point is that most people with real, organic mental illness are not dangerous or criminal and far more likely to be victimized than to victimize. Jodi Arias on the other hand is just plain evil.

    This Judge must ABSOLUTELY DENY any kind of motion that prohibits the victims family from providing impact statements! That is a legal nightmare in and of itself, yes?

    And now still hearing that the judge, the ho, the duhfense, Juanderful, families and jurors still inside… did they somehow pull the wool over ev1’s eyes and are doing this phase with cams, public, etc.. can they leagally do this at this stage?

      • Lisa M
        05/09/2013 at 5:44 pm

        I don’t think so, HJ. Jail sucks, I don’t care if you’re on death row, in general population, maximum security, county jail, etc. It sucks. You have no control. You’re behind bars. Maybe you get somewhat acclimated but when you’re a lifer, you see other prisoners coming and going but you’re never leaving! So maybe that’s why she wants the death penalty; nobody there (except for the guards) will be in a better position than she is. For her it’s all about having something on other people; she’s been a celebrity but she’ll be an aging lifer once this is over. People will move onto the next thing eventually. Remember with Casey Anthony, it was the be all, end all trial; she was the be-all, end-all psychopath. And then here comes along Jodi. Eventually, unfortunately, HLN will find another Jodi and she’ll fade into the cement of her prison walls.

    My money is on JA having fired her defense attorneys after they drilled her a new one for arranging that TV interview behind their backs. A six-day delay sounds more like the judge providing enough time for her to get new counsel, rather than a mental competency evaluation, because that could be done in a few hours.

    • 05/09/2013 at 5:37 pm

      how could she get new attorneys in 6 days? wouldnt they have to become familisr with her case.. and lord knows how long they could drag that out. Im no expert.. quite the opposite in these matters… but 6 days to get new attorneys at this stage of a DP Trial sounds a little strange to me.

    I know this delay is frustrating– believe me, I feel the same way, arghhh!- but maybe it’s a good thing. It gives time for JA to get whatever “help” she needs so that by the time next Wednesday comes around, she’ll be sure about what she wants to do, either ask for the death penalty or fight for her life, and then the procedure will go on as planned. That should be happening today, of course, but obviously everything is delayed when a psychopath’s involved. Just remember, the most important thing is this conviction. She’s done. LWOL or death, we can’t let her jerk us around like this. She is a liar, and everything she said on that interview was a lie. She’s not resigned to the verdict like she made it sound nor does she really want the death penalty. She’s just trying to make it seem like she’s in control, but she’s not and she won’t be again. The judge is probably just trying to avoid an appeal. We should be angry at Fox and at the jail for allowing that interview to take place. She’s a manipulative psychopath who’s going to pull whatever strings she’s allowed to pull. The media and the weak sheriff who’s supposedly so strong on criminals deserve the blame. I just hope the family shuts out all media so they aren’t affected by that interview or by her bs anymore than completely necessary.

      The letter was quite a nice one to burns. She didn’t call him a whore. She said her attorney called him a whore for the state, but she didn’t agree. I’m no fan of Arias, but the above comment said arias called him a whore is just not true. Read the letter.

      • WhereIsSHE
        05/10/2013 at 12:13 pm

        Ken is correct.
        But I respectfully disagree about the letter being a “nice one”.
        Rather, it is nothing but an obvious attempt to USE/MANIPULATE Ryan Burns (once again).
        I highly doubt that her female lawyer–at that time, who was fortunate enough to escape contnued representation of Jodi– called Ryan a “whore for the State”, just as I highly doubt that etective Flores told Ryna Burns any lies.
        This is Jodi trying to manipulate a witness with flattery and not-so-thinly veiled attempts to blame OTHERS for HER own actions and/or words.
        It is so flagrant that it is pathetic.
        As has been stated here many times over, Jodi Ann Arias is
        She now sees her “star” fading –and fast– and connot bear to not be the inmate the others NOWHERE NEAR as intelligent as she likes to believe that she is.

        05/10/2013 at 12:20 pm

        OK. I give up with this comment box! My words literally just got “scrambled” at the end of my last comment.
        But back to Jodi…She only uses “nice” sounding words to Ryan because she DOESNT know him well enough to RAGE at him.
        When she feels comfortable, she gets VERY NASTY and in a hurry.
        Rememer how she “spoke” to Matt via the magazines? “You fucked up.” “Get done here ASAP.”
        THAT is the REAL Jodi Ann Arias.
        The one who writes flowery letters and journal entries and speaks with that soft voice? That is nothing but a mask she wears to trick people into believing that she is “swet” and “kind” and “thoughtful”… and pious.

        JA write in “codes” and “underlying meanings”. The statement “My lawyer called you a “whore for the state.”” was only included to hurt Ryan Burns. The letter is self-serving. I do not believe she was writing “quite a nice one to Burns”, on the contrary it was to point out that she was superior in her faith, her ability to point the blame to others and the underlying rage she has against anyone who crosses her.

    What I fail to understand is how someone that was just
    A) convicted of a crime
    B) is under arrest
    C) and in custody

        ADC strictly prohibits on-camera interviews of inmates (with few exceptions – even a serial killer didn’t get one) . Phone interviews can only be done with approval from the ADC. The reason she can give these interviews now is because she is a county jail inmate. Once she is sentence she will be a state inmate.

      The reporter who interviewed her appeared on Greta Van Susteran’s show. He said that he has connections in the SHERRIFF’s office. It is up to the SHERRIFF to refuse or allow a post-conviction interview.
      The sherriff allowed it.
      Bad for Jodi, because she all but confessed to murder, IMO.
      Why would anyone who was allegedly in fear for her own life, and who allegedly only killed in “justified self defense” EVER say that she wanted the DEATH PENALTY???
      NO! That does NOT happen in cases of REAL INNOCENCE!
      In cases of REAL innocence, the wrongfully convicted person cannot begin to grasp the INJUSTICE they have suffered, and they look forward to LIVING so that maybe, just maybe, the injustice can be UNDONE.
      Sure they have moments of feeling totally defeated and deflated…when their hopes for a favorable decision during the appellate process are dashed…
      but they don’t EVER just go, “OK. Give me the DEATH PENALTY” for a crime they did NOT commit!
      She can’t even “get” how badly she misses the mark (of how a truly innocent person would react), because she truly did commit a PREMEDITATED and VISCIOUSLY CRUEL MURDER.

        Even tho’ that statement from JAs lawyer (whore) did not originate from JAs lips, she re-quoted it only to hurt Ryan. She has hidden and underlying meanings in everything that comes out of her mouth or from her head into her writings. She has seething anger and hatred against anyone who tries to cross her. If she was a free “woman” she would eventually get to the point of losing control again and murdering someone else. It is a psychological fact about ppl like JA.

      A defendant must show good cause, and the court has discretion to weigh the defendant’s reasons against other considerations, such as timeliness, in deciding whether to grant the defendant’s request. A criminal defendant has the right to discharge counsel, whether appointed or hired, and elect to defend himself or herself if the court determines that the defendant’s decision is voluntary and that he or she understands the disadvantages of self-representation.

    The news have played, and replayed the soundbites out of JA’s interview about asking for the death penalty, but I finally listened to all of it on YouTube. How infuriating that b*tch is! Even after realizing she had not fooled the jury, and showing absolutely no remorse, she took another opportunity to call Travis a pedophile (mentioning that he had said he wanted to have sex with a 12 year old girl on the tape — which he did not say — as the definition of pedophilia) and a hypocrite, and that she did not look at the Alexander family in the courtroom because “they looked so much like the man who abused me.” Snarky and ugly to the bitter end. I just can’t get over how self-assured she is with her lies. It scares me because I know there are others like her out there. Every day liars are easy to spot, so I don’t worry about them. 05/09/2013 at 7:08 pm

    When she was on the stand giving her testiphony, I recall that she said that she told Inside Edition that she said no jury would convict her because she was innocent. She then said that she couldn’t say no jury would convict her due to innocence when she was really contemplating suicide. Then, she explained that there was a deputy present and if she mentioned suicide, she would be put on suicide watch.

    So, here we go, moments after her conviction she says she wants the death penalty. Arpaio decided not to take any chances and shipped her off to the psycho ward! What did she expect after all the discussion of how much she thought about suicide!

    Did she want to go to the psych ward? Is she so upset about it that she threw a fit about appearing in court?

    Actually, there are so many guesses out there! I sure hope we learn what happened soon.

    In the meantime, I’ll just have to finish as many garden chores as possible before next Wednesday.

    I think that Jodi is having a huge fight with her defense attorneys for the little Interview Stunt she pulled. If a) they have to find a new attorney to represent her in the next phase or if b) if she fired them, I’ll bet a bar of really good chocolate that she is going to represent herself. If b) represent herself – I’ll bet that they are now doing a psychological evaluation to make sure she is competent to represent herself. I think she wants to go out in a Blaze O Glory.

They actually had the voicemail she left him on Sunday. She said if it was second degree or less–ha ha- she would wait until after sentencing, but if 1st degree he should get down there ASAP. He also had already let the jail officials hear the voicemail so everything was already in place. I think her lawyers knew nothing about it a head of time.

    The Maricopa County Sheriff known for his tough tactics with inmates surrendered all authority today to convicted killer, and etiquette maven Jodi Arias, and offered a tearful apology for the suffering and injustice she has endured.

    “To miss Arias, and ALL victims of domestic violence, I beg for forgiveness…” A somber Arpaio told throngs of Arias fans from all over the world.

    A muted prosecutor Juan Martinez remained silent in the stocks since the newly named Minister of Propaganda, DonoMan Bering, had him placed there immediately after the Whole State of Arizona surrendered all their rights and common sense.

    Miss Arias is soon expected to jettison her Minister of Proaganda for a better looking upwardly mobile human of either sex, just as soon as she convenes her first cabinet of makeup.

    I hope you all with a psych background can help answer my question best. Is JA performing this charade because she doesn’t want to face Travis’s beautiful family or is it because she doesn’t want her true self to be revealed by them( which I learned from syn!). Or is it that she doesn’t want her true self revealed AND doesn’t want to let the defense say she’s crazy or something to save her life?

    • 05/09/2013 at 10:22 pm

      Kristin.. its purely about control. She gets to control where they say what they have to say and she once again wins against the family. She doesnt have to lisen to their words cos the whole time in her head she is just thinking.. “still beat ya” “still beat ya” “still beat ya” “still beat ya”

    havn’t had a chance to catch up so this may have been posted above.
    The motion for video victim impact statement IS for the Alexander Family. The def claiming there have other cases where the victim impact statements where so emotional etc that they influence the jury.
    I swear if this Judge allows this .. I am going to go bald !

    I heard a talking head say that if that’sthe case they think JA request that. It seems she was “upset” yesterday when travis’ sister had an “emotional,outburst”in court when verdict was announced. Al I remember is a loud Gasp. We don’t want JA upset now. The THs opinion was the DT submitted the motion to appease her and prevent any appeals based on ineffectual counsel.
    She plays games. She manipulates. I very rarely use the word Hate, but I’ve come close to hating her. Eh… Maybe I do but don’t want to accept it. I guess I’m the delusional one.

      I believe the motion was made before the jury verdict. It may have been posted here, early in the day, before the trial started.

      It’s a standard defense maneuver, and I doubt Arias had anything to do with initiating it.

      Although Arizona law allows victim impact statements, they can be problematic. There are numerous Supreme Court cases for murder cases overturned by lower courts, with mixed, contradictory results. A lot of prosecutors discourage them, worried about reversals.

    One of the guest lawyers (can’t remember name, ?Lamb?) that appears on HLN tweeted this afternoon that TA’s family’s wrongful death suit would be barred by the state of AZ because of statute of limitations.

    Found this on a legal website but if someone can verify or has other information please post. It would be awful if they are not able to follow through with their suit.

    “As in other personal injury cases, there are strict time frames and laws that apply to filing a wrongful death claim. In Arizona, the typical statute of limitations for filing a wrongful death claim or lawsuit is two years from the date of the person’s death. Some exceptions under the law may apply to your case to either extend the two-year period or require additional steps. If you do not closely follow the rules laid out in Arizona law, you may be legally prevented from filing a wrongful death claim.”

      Very well could be. There were reports from ABC Phoenix that camera mics picked up JA’s family saying after court was canceled something like “I hope none of the jurors saw that” “Yep” replies one and “Wow” replies the other. This may be why the jury was held for a little while after court was cancelled this afternoon so they could be questioned if they saw anything in the hallways?

      • 05/09/2013 at 9:59 pm

      There have been lawyers tweeting/messaging many media outlets saying the same. Probably not AZ wrongful death Attorneys.

      In Arizona there is a two year statute of limitations for “Most” wrongful death . Most is key here. Some are actually less, some are extended via certain provisions.

      I think the statute is : ARS 12 – CHAPTER 5 12-5111 –

      A. Notwithstanding sections 12-505 and 12-542, if a defendant is charged by a criminal complaint or indictment the statute of limitations for any civil cause of action that is brought by a victim against the defendant for criminal conduct against the victim is extended for one year from the final disposition of the criminal proceedings, regardless of whether the defendant is convicted of criminal conduct against the victim.

      The “clock”, as it relates to a particular statute of limitation, does not begin to “tick” until the cause of action accrues. In this case, JA was a criminal defendant, and the State of Arizona is in possession of the evidence related to the case.

      JA has now been convicted of murdering him (establishing that as a known fact), and thus the cause for the civil matter has now accrued….

If jodi is in physcho (however u spell it) ward can the verdict be overturned in any way due to convicted being “mentally ill”? I mean like immediately? 2. Does she HAVE to be present during penalty phase or can they do it without her? 3. If she has to be there, can they push it along, basically tell her to deal and just do it? 4. This crap about victim impact statements being taped, what are the chances? If she has been found guilty come on, can they say “too bad! You have got to listen!” I mean, how does that taint the jury? Isn’t that a frigging right to speak that is owed to the victims family? And/or if it is allowed, once she is sentenced do they then get the opportunity to speak to her in court? I am just so frustrated! I understand that anybody that was just found guilty would be suicidal or whatever, but when do you draw the line, tell the guilty to put on their big girl panties, shut the f up and take the punishment??!!!! There are people constitutionally unable to take responsibility for their behavior and who will always believe they are victimized. It’s called sociopathy and that’s what she was displaying last night in that interview. She can’t be helped by a psych ward. She’s a black hole. Who was it that said that staring too deeply into the abyss can pull you in? I think the hardest thing to accept is that she really isn’t human like the rest of us or most of us are. She has nothing inside of her except for pity for herself. It’s hard to imagine how her mind works. I think maybe she’s convinced herself Travis really did abuse her but she really just wants everyone else to hurt like she does so that’s why she lashed out at everyone last night.

    • 05/10/2013 at 12:38 am

      Nietzsche said it .. and I dont find it hard to I read her clearly. No she hasnt convinced herself of anything.. she just thinks if she convinces everyone else, skews their perception, she wins.. we are all just potential pawns to her… don’t fall into the trap of allowing her to dupe you. or you allow her to beat you too.

        I think there are only a small subset of folks that buy into her story. Sad to say, it appears as if they’ve decided to take a underground approach to continuing the support. To each his own, but sad to see the buy in to Jodi’s lies and brutality to Travis. Fortunately, the jurors were smarter and didn’t buy into her lies.

        I think Mikee D explained it best when he showed the two cereal boxes- one empty except for a few cornflakes (sociopaths) and one mostly or all full (normal people) and explained how there’s nothing inside of the sociopath– she’s just a shell- and the few flakes in there are feelings she has for herself.

      If I was a member of the Alexander family, I’d be fuming about this Troy reporter. Very insensitive to do the interview within minutes of the verdict and how about having the human decency to put the victim’s family ahead of greedy news reporting.

        Thank you Syn. I’m not a crime expert or psychology aficionado; just a person who’s become passionate about the State of Arizona v. Jodi Arias Trial for reasons I don’t always understand.

        Watching the Alexander family and desperately wanting to see justice has consumed more hours than I care to count. On a personal level, it troubles me that a news reporter in Arizona fell prey to the games of a psychopath at the expense of the Travis Alexander family. I say this because it seems that words spoken by Arias in the Fox interview have directly contributed to another substantial delay in court proceedings.

    GUILTY-PREMED MURDER 1——–Defendant’s response????——-Can’t see this behavoir coming from anyone who is/has been suffering from DV/PTSD or even ‘the fog’!!! She certainly DOES NOT suffer from low self esteem. PLUS, she seems to remember things from her past and presents herself as a self assured individual with a motive and a plan!! She articulates as having given much thought to her answers. She is stoic and careful with her emotions. That aside, she looks into the camera and CHOOSES to remind the world of HER agenda which is to disparage Travis’s name yet again. I doubt she has sold her soul to the devil. This woman has no soul,no respect for Travis or his family and further proves her feelings towards Travis to be pure ‘hatred’….. Why does she hate Travis so much ????perhaps because she just couldn’t manipulate him?????So, there goes her journey to project her selfish and vindictive onto him by taking advantage of him.! We cannot understand her because we cannot imagine ourselves
    behaving with such hatred and violence against someone who is the complete opposite.She is skillful in the manner in which she manipulates. Now she wants to manipulate us, the justice system and the world for that matter. She is challenging us all!!

      Do we really know how to handle evil when it visits itself upon us?

      No. Very few do because very few can truly accept it walk amoung us in the guise of banality. Some may believe it exists, but expect it in a very easily recognisable form.

      True evil will always disguise itself in a chameleon, changeling form or by definition it would not be evil. The bible warns us of this but nobody is paying attention (and no I am not by any means espousing a structured religious ideology just pointing out the facts.)

    Don’t know if this was posted earlier but couldn’t sleep.

    Court is CANCELLED UNTIL WED because of DR. HORN’s schedule. Apparently it was the first time he was available. Said yesterday, JA’s is putting 1,000’s of peoples’ lives on hold and all have more important thing to be doing.!!!!

    • 05/10/2013 at 5:25 am

      I hope this is accurate. Would be a far better reason than Jodistein having any part in it at all. Still not convinced, seems Dr Horn could find others to stand in for him in most other things, can’t imagine he would be spending a prolonged period on the stand. But …. definitely could be true …. other MEs may have heavy case loads too or he may have other court appearances sheduled.

    • Janna
      05/10/2013 at 5:32 am

      Dr. Horn was in the courthouse today for the Aggravation phase fully prepared to testify. Things happened. Court was cancelled. JA is under suicide watch for 72 hours. The good-looking Dr. is not available again until Wednesday.

      • 05/10/2013 at 5:35 am

    OT… but I just listened to the Amanda Berry 911 call and what the heck was up with that despatcher???? He needs to go back for training or sacked! Here she is telling him she has just escaped after 10 years being kidnapped and he’s like “Well the cops are on there way talk to them when they get there.. cya”

    I’ve seen a bunch of 911 shows real call, real despatchers.. and they HELP the caller… this girl just escaped from 10 years captivity, desperate to get help.. and gets a cold collours despatcher like that who lacked any empathy whatsoever????? Even if he didn’t believe her… he should have ACTed like he did until the police arrived and could verify one way or the other. Outrageous!!

    You’ve probably all heard it before. but I hadn’t… here it is anyway.. sorry it’s totally OT I know.. but needed to vent!

        The man who helped Amanda escape also called 9-1-1 and said he got a “moron” on the other end, too. I can’t help but think that they are treated this way because of their zip code…an automatic discount by operators when their calls come in. I doubt that a caller from an affluent neighborhood would have been treated this poorly.

      That dispatcher acted like a real asshole. A 911 dispatcher is a very serious and important job that requires compassion. I’ve seen several murder mysteries where a 911 dispatcher has completely drop the ball which led to people dying. He needs to be fired and w the same callousness he treated Amanda Berry.

    BREAKING NEWS: America’s Sheriff Joe Arpaio bested by America’s Sweetheart Jodi Arias

    • Kristi
      05/10/2013 at 10:12 am

      I believe Jodi is firmly convinced that she is brilliant, beautiful, sophisticated and unique on a level far above most humans. The tone on the voice mail strikes me as just another way she is trying to demonstrate her self perceived control and intelligence. Like her misuse of words like edify, everyone else knows its not right but she believes it demonstrates her superior intellect. Doesn’t it seem like whatever situation she finds herself in, she casts herself in a role far different that she really is? She was a slut, but she portrays herself as a religious person who only had 4 boyfriends. She is a HS dropout waitress, but self identifies as a photographer, entrepreneur and artist. Until recently, I’m sure no one bought any “art” from her. She is a prisoner, but in her mind, she is a high powered lawyer and PR manager so the voice mail fits the role.. Remember in the mom’s letter to Judge Duncan, when she said that Jodi helps the other prisoners by teaching them and singing to them? Again, she is a prisoner but views herself as some benevolent teacher. She cast Travis as her co-star, counterpart to the photographer entrepreneur character, but when he didn’t want the role, he had to be punished. He was already dead to her because he wasn’t in her production, so her motivation was to punish, hence the 29 stab wounds. I think it’s far more deeply psychopathic that the run of the mill girl gets jealous, doesn’t want anyone else to have him. Jealousy is an emotion……I don’t think she has those. What do you guys think?

    Where you are now.. with thinking she might actually believe it… is EXACTLY where so many people trying to come to terms with a disordered mind such as Jodi’s get “stuck’ too. It is a legitimate question that naturally arises from an enquiring mind needing to understand it.

    This may be the reason court was suddenly stopped yesterday:

    By Chris Cole and Yihyun Jeong
    The Arizona Republic-12 News Breaking News Team
    Thu May 9, 2013 4:32 PM
    A Phoenix man was arrested Thursday on suspicion of tweeting a bomb threat Wednesday during the Jodi Arias trial, authorities said.

    Laquint H. Cherry, 18, was booked into jail on suspicion of acts related to terrorism, according to the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office.

    The Sheriff’s Office began investigating after the tweet said a bomb would denote in the courthouse at 1 p.m. Thursday during hearings for Arias, and that cops would be killed.

    • 05/10/2013 at 9:47 am

      but wouldn’t they have evacuated the building rather than the attorneys et al be kept in there if that was the reason? From what I gleaned (perhaps erroneously) the most important people in the case were kept inside the court. Not sure that makes sense to me.. but maybe they have different reactions to a bomb threat than I would have anticipated.

    Don’t know if this has been answered yet, I need to catch up on posts from this morning …last night fox or HLN played the message she made to the reporter. She spoke very quickly. It was placed right before she was to go into the courtroom to hear the verdict. She told him that if it was 1st degree, she wanted the interview that day. If it was 2nd degree, she would wait for the interview after the sentencing phase. She already had it all planned out. How in the world did she get access to a cell phone or any phone to make that call if she was waiting for her sentencing. There must be big bucks involved here, In Florida, if you are in jail, you need to have the receipient of the call signed up and pay to be able to receive calls from the jail. How did she commander this? Just asking…

      If you see the link above, the call was made on May 5th and left on the reporter’s voicemail. That was a Sunday night so it was prior to her receiving the verdict. She probably found out how less restrictive the psych ward was and wanted to go there. It was all cleared through the sheriff and court.

      We are still a bit away from the sentencing. Still have to get through the agravator stage yet………………. and at the rate we’re going, could be a while! 😦 Hope that helps. Here’s the link explaining it all.

        something still stinks with this story. A convict can summon a reporter and through use of code words, arrange a different setting for themselve? Why aren’t all the prisoners claiming they are suicidal if the accomodations are so much better in the suicide watch corner?

      Until she was declared guilty she had phone rights, like other defendants. Murder defendants are allocated a certain number of hours a week — that was how she was able to pass comments to be tweeted to Donovan. Now, presumably, she has no direct access to the outside world, except through her attorneys.

      And there’s no way a TV news team with cameras and technicians and assistants gets into that jail for an interview without approval higher up — and the Sheriff was on site at the jailhouse that day, according to HLN commentary — he was expected to have a news conference after the verdict, but I don’t know if that happened or not.

    WTF indeed! And it was permitted by the “tough” sheriff — something is rotten in Denmark … there may be something in the background to all of this we are not privy to. I have my own opinions of the good sheriff and since it is not the predominant one on here I will keep them to myself but I absolutely blame him and his office for permitting this interview in the first place. And I wish someone would ask him, on the record, why he permitted this of a CONVICTED criminal. I don’t care if she arranged the voicemail before — fine, she was not convicted then but after the verdict? Uh uh … that was BS.

    The man who helped Amanda escape also called 9-1-1 and said he got a “moron” on the other end, too. I can’t help but think that they are treated this way because of their zicode…an automatic discount by operators when their calls come in. I doubt that a caller from an affluent neighborhood would have been treated this poorly.

    Wouldn’t surprise me. I remember years ago being in south central Los Angeles in a house that was on a street being “watched over” by the police because of some business going on. We heard 2 gun shots and ran outside. Apparently one of the neighbor’s dogs ‘came towards’ the officer.Now I didnt see it. Could have been dangerous etc etc.But I remember thinking at that moment that it would never have happened that way in Beverly Hills or Pacific Palisades or Bel Air. Shooting to kill would not have been the first response.

    Has there been any speculation what the “off the record” information was that the reporter says he had to keep secret in order to get the after verdict interview? He was also supposed to keep secret the letter that was written to him from jail. Then he revealed it after he did the interview. I’m guessing the “off the record” stuff is some ticking time bomb that she has planted to have detonate only if she needs some information to “leak” to help her cause. I can’t help but think that it’s yet some other way to sully Travis’ reputation.

    O.J. Simpson Looks For Second Chance, Asking For New Trial In Las Vegas
    Posted on May 10, 2013 @ 7:23AM

    From the Dream Team to the Hack Pack?

    That’s what O.J. Simpson claims: The former football great — who wants a new trial or amended plea deal — is slated to attend a five-day hearing next week in Las Vegas County District Court, in which he’ll testify how his former lawyer Yale Galanter gave him poor legal advice regarding his 2007 run-in with two men in Las Vegas, as well as the trial stemming from the incident.

    He said Galanter’s repeated mistakes in the case ultimately led to his armed robbery and kidnapping conviction the following year.

    The NFL hall-of-famer claims the Florida lawyer, who he paid $700,000 for his services, told him prior to the confrontation that as long as he didn’t trespass or touch anyone, he wasn’t breaking the law. Galanter also failed to tell him testifying on his own behalf could help his case — Simpson never took the stand in the trial — and that prosecutors were offering him a plea deal at one point in the trial, Simpson said in a 94-page request.

    “Had I understood that there was an actual chance of conviction, I would have accepted such an offer,” said Simpson.

    Galanter also bungled the football great’s 2010 appeal to the Nevada Supreme Court, Simpson said. The 65-year-old remains locked up in Sin City on a nine-to-33-year sentence, and isn’t eligible for parole for another five years.

    Chief deputy district attorney H. Leon Simon said the evidence in the 2007 case was more than sufficient to garner a conviction, and that Simpson shouldn’t get a new trial.

    Simpson, who was acquitted in 1995 in the double murder of ex-wife Nicole Simpson and her friend Ron Goldman, shopped a book called If I Did It — a hypothetical walk-through of the gruesome crime he claimed he “absolutely, 100 percent” didn’t commit — in 2006, just a year before the latest arrest.

    Hi All,

    Firstly, thank you donchais, for your perfection in reporting the daily court proceedings.
    I have been lurkng for quite awhile now and have never posted before but would like to say a few things regarding JA and her inevitable guilty verdict.

    I think we need to drop this *subject*, she is a has-been. She has (Thank God) been found guilty of her crimes and will undoubtedly pay the ultimate price. Yet, she so feebly tries to manipulate her punishment by doing the Fox 10 interview. I did read that had she been a confirmed state prisoner, the interview would not have been allowed.

    I believe the less attention we pay to JA, the more belittled she will feel. She is now grasping at straws to remain in the limelight – JA lives for this attention and we are unfortunately providing that to her. Let her go – she is evil, and she is a done deal. Travis Alexander and his family have won, and doesn’t the little lady well realize that now. She will continue to spread her venom to anyone that will pay attention to her. This is her total focus in life now , she has nothing else left.

    Let’s not continue to be victms of JA.

    ~~~~Greetings All!~~~~
    In the voicemail WOBO tells the reporter to meet her at the jail, not the courthouse, even tells him what time they get back (6:00- 6:30). I think Sheriff Joe showed up to help orchestrate that interview and had to make up a reason for being there — Nancy Grace took the bait saying he was going to give a presser and she was going to interview him. Never happened. Her lawyers went into a tirade learning of the interview, no doubt adding another infuriating episode to their (lawyers and WOBO) long list. My guess, she fires them, does the interview, then begs for them to come back. The Judge only cares about preventing reversal, so she puts it all on hold and tells them all to work it out. My guess, we carry on with the same cast of characters next week. IMHO ….
      also -legal beagles correct me -its not so easy to “fire” your lawyer or “quit” the case. Its a whole process of submission, in support reasons etc and then a court appearance before the Judge. Somehow, its wobo acting like Leona Helmsley at her prime and pulling something. We’ve seen that Judge Stephens is not one to push aside even the whisper of words like “sidebar” or “approach,” So somehow, I bet words like “suicide” and “fire” would light the Judge up the same.
        It’s one of the reasons I don’t like those “for governor” or “for president” signs that the “original” boob tube reported on people doing. A lot of lawyers–and most of the talking heads on TV- pass through the DA office for the “experience” and then go and make big bucks. Some stay of course as a career, and a very few stay as top notch prosecutors for quite awhile. Juan strikes me as the kind of guy who likes what he’s doing.
      You know … I bet he does not use it. He doesn’t need it, refering to it gives it “authenticity” and may be seen (not by us, but a panel of less involved judges) as a way of inflaming the jury. All of their hard work and diligence and this is how she responds?
      • 05/10/2013 at 12:04 pm
      • 05/10/2013 at 1:28 pm
        MMD, .. Yup , people have to be on an. approved call list. And 3 way calls are not allowed. But that can be the only way she could have gotten through to his voicemail, Maybe she had the station’s number on her list and whoever answers the phone transferred her call to reporter’s VM? But would the jail,approve a news outlet? The whole thing stinks.
      Hey Deco … jail is a little different in every county. Here, jail inmates can make calls on a pre-paid calling card. Or, they do a crazy bounce around where they get someone to collect the charge and then 3-way conference to a 3rd number.
      • 05/10/2013 at 1:32 pm
        HJ. INn Florida, in the recent past, it was always a collect call. The 3 way was a no-no but I guess you could get around it. ( Knowing this information from personal experience isn’t something Im happy about. Ugh. )
    I am so angry! I just watched wobo’s after verdict interview for like the third time..and, WHY is she allowed access to the daily newspaper?
    Omg, that is so wrong! So, she has been able to read comments and news stories about her case all throughout the trial? Can someone please tell me why that is allowed?
    • MMD
      05/10/2013 at 12:37 pm
      probably because she hadn’t been convicted yet. Probably a different story now!!!
    • HJ Madison
      Because she is in jail — not prison. Lots of folks in jail are there for minor things. Or, are innocent. So, the jail is a totally different place than prison, where only convicted people are housed.
    Debra :
    Never posted before, have always read this site though and seems to have the best info! So now that I can breathe that the verdict was right!…… I am nervous and have a few questions… 1. If jodi is in physcho (however u spell it) ward can the verdict be overturned in any way due to convicted being “mentally ill”? I mean like immediately? 2. Does she HAVE to be present during penalty phase or can they do it without her? 3. If she has to be there, can they push it along, basically tell her to deal and just do it? 4. This crap about victim impact statements being taped, what are the chances? If she has been found guilty come on, can they say “too bad! You have got to listen!” I mean, how does that taint the jury? Isn’t that a frigging right to speak that is owed to the victims family? And/or if it is allowed, once she is sentenced do they then get the opportunity to speak to her in court? I am just so frustrated! I understand that anybody that was just found guilty would be suicidal or whatever, but when do you draw the line, tell the guilty to put on their big girl panties, shut the f up and take the punishment??!!!! Thank you all for helping me out through this trial, even though I was silent I found a lot of comfort from this site!
    Welcome! You’ve asked a lot of great Q’s! I’m not sure about the answers to all of them, but here’s what I understand.
    1. There is a big difference in being diagnosed with a mental disorder (such as BPD, ASPD, etc) and being “legally insane”. An “Insanity plea”, means the defendant has been found incompetant to stand trial- JA has NOT met any criteria that proves she was or is mentally incompetent. She has proven quite the opposite. The guilty verdict stands regardless.
    2. The defendant must be present in the courtroom for the penalty phase.
    3. My guess is that she wanted this reaction and consequence to her interview, she wanted the psych evaluation, it’s only a delay “sympathy tactic”, very premeditated, IMO. They’ll wheel her into that courtroom if necessary.
    4. The DT has the right to file as many bogus motions as they want, but it is highly likely the judge will not grant it. My guess is, JA told her her attorneys to file it.
    I hope this helps, and if I’m incorrect on these answers, or unclear… We have a lot of smart peeps here that can add or correct.
      Hi, I understand all the answers you gave. Ty. I just disagree (I’m being facetious here) with the part where u say they’ll just wheel her into the courtroom if they have to. We all know the judge wouldn’t allow that. It’d b too prejudicial.
    OT but everyone knows how I feel about John Goodman :devil: Goodman and Black deserved each other!!!
    Attorney Roy Black withdraws from polo mogul John Goodman case
    By Daphne Duret
    Palm Beach Post Staff Writer
    Famed attorney Roy Black has filed a motion to withdraw from the John Goodman case, according to paperwork filed with the Palm Beach County clerk’s office this morning.
    Black and Mark A.J. Shapiro, who both helped the polo mogul get a new trial in the death of Scott Patrick Wilson, stated in court records in Palm Beach County Court they have concluded their representation of Goodman.
    In addition to Black and Shapiro, attorney and jury consultant Joshua Dubin, who worked with Goodman’s defense team through most of his first trial in March 2012, has also stepped down from the case. His request to withdraw also came this morning.
    According to the court records, two other members of Goodman’s legal team, West Palm Beach attorneys Guy Fronstin and Doug Duncan, are still representing him.
    Circuit Judge Jeffrey Colbath on Friday vacated Goodman’s 2012 conviction and 16-year prison sentence in the death of Wilson, the University of Central Florida grad who drowned after Goodman’s Bentley crashed into Wilson’s Hyundai and flipped it into a Wellington canal.
    Colbath overturned the conviction based on charges of juror misconduct against Dennis DeMartin, who, among other things, held back during jury selection the fact that his ex-wife had once been arrested for DUI.
    A hint of the split between Black and Goodman’s camp came with the announcement of the new trial, as Black issued his own statement regarding the decision Friday separately from a Goodman family spokesperson, who followed with another statement later in the evening.
    Although Colbath’s decision has cleared the way for a new trial for the Texas heir, there’s still some paperwork and legal maneuvering standing between him and more relaxed pre-trial release conditions.
        I think that’s the problem. He’s running out of money since the adoption of his g/f was rejected. He now has no access to that $300M plus he’s been paying sheriff deputies to guard him $2,000/day since he was convicted. His brother and sister had to come up with his bond cause he couldn’t do it plus he paid a crap load in legal fees already. I seem to remember he was way behind on child support payments as well. Also his insurance would have skyrocketed since they had to pay out $45M to the Wilson family. All in all, I think life is going downhill for Goodman. Ain’t it grand!!!!!!!!!!! 😀
    ***********good day ev1***********
    No leaks yet on yesterday’s fiasco??
    Just seems to me that it is so much more than her being on suicide watch.
    Why were there 8 security guards in there?
    Why did the families, attys. judge. jury, convicted murderer stay while ev1 else was thrown out?
    Why were the families given an admonishment not to speak about what happened?
    Why were the Alexander’s escorted out by security but the Arias family wasn’t?
    Why were the Arias’ overheard saying “oh i hope the jury didn’t hear that” “yep” “wow”?
    Why all the secrets? and why at this stage?
    Why is a CONVICTED CRUEL MURDERER still in charge?
    Why don’t they just make her show up in shackles and a straight jacket? Would that make the jury have more sympathy, since that’s what she’s going for?
    Why why why is she getting away with all of this?
        wish i could!
        I would have loved to have watched her act out after the verdict, yelling at her attys! Then observe her after that stupid interview! I keep thinking (ok hoping) that maybe someone from the Arias side will speak out on what happened in court room. I hope the cameras were rolling and we are allowed to see that some day!
      • 05/10/2013 at 1:59 pm
        she didn’t need to act out.. remember she was thinking.. ” ha! you think you beat me… well I’m going to my interview now… how good am I? ” screw you!
      Maybe the Arias family was talking about the Fox interview when they said “I hope the jury didn’t hear that?” Meaning they hoped the jurors didn’t hear what she said about wanting the death penalty?
    Was just watching HLN and they are talking about the new movie that lifetime is making about jodi. Unfortunately, it is just going to feed into her narcissism all the more! And, they got a pretty actress to play her, so wobo will love that! The actress was interviewed and said jodi was intriguing to her, blah, blah, blah. Jodi is going to just love this! Which makes me all the angrier.
      so long as she is locked in solitary 23 hours a day.. who cares.. it’s if she is out building her little minion army in LWOP section that it will really be annoying.. I think those 7 felony + premeds are DP votes in the bag.. but the other 5… well one or more might not want to give DP
        did you see inside that jail.. with those two manipulators one sexual one more ‘intellectusl’… Jodi can convince lesser intellects she is very smart.. plus she is a sexual predator… she would have those women eating out of her hand.. and after a few years have such loyal minions around her nobody would be able to stand up to her.. lets hope if it is LWOP she gets somewhere that transfers her when they see this happening in her “pod”
        Syntara I’m kind of confused by the felony vs premeditated murder convictions.. Was there another way the jurors could vote for felony murder besides believing that she took the gun or knife? I thought they had to think she took his gun if they voted for felony murder and therefore maybe the five who only voted for premeditated murder just don’t think she stole anything from the house, ie the gun? Maybe I missed something? Did entering the home unlawfully or some other type of felony come into play re: the felony murder conviction?
    “According to NBCNews.com, which obtained an early version of the script, the film will focus heavily on the riotous relationship between Arias and Travis Alexander which infamously ended in a day of sex, nude photos, and Alexander’s death.”
    One of the many shames of this forthcoming film on TV is that it buys wobos version of what happened that day. As far as the “legend” goes, they had sex that day. I still don’t believe they did. Makes it a very different film. I hope reruns of “Fatal Attraction” outplay it
    also, just saw in todays paper:
    “The daughter of Ariel Castro, the main suspect in the kidnapping and decade-long imprisonment of three Cleveland women, is serving 25 years in jail for slashing her baby daughter’s throat. Emily Castro was convicted in Indiana in February 2008 of trying to kill her 11-month-old daughter Janyla (who survived).”
    So this vermin who raped and sired a child with one of the girls and who punched one of the other kidnapped girls in the stomach to cause a miscarriage, was the father of a girl who tried to cut the throat of her new baby a few years ago. Now there is a young woman who does not deserve to be in prison, but in some kind of mental health care.
      It would be worth while to organize a letter writing & email campaign to the film producers threatening a sponsor boycott if they proceed
      On Dr Drew show he said, first prefacing his observation by stating he was in no way defending Castro, that it was reported Castro was abused as a child, and that kind of behavior tends to replicate itself, often producing monsters who do horrible things. Castro certainly abused the daughter, he is known to have beaten and assaulted the mother (dead now, not sure of the causes). Self perpetuating cycles of violence.
        05/10/2013 at 3:18 pm
    • Lisa M
      05/10/2013 at 3:47 pm
      I agree with you, Robert, in that she was probably abused by her father too. But there are so many in prison who should be in mental health facilities or getting more than the minimal care they get in prison. And when people do heinous things like what she did society gets really angry when they’re given a break due to mental health reasons. I think the fact that she got 25 years at least gives her some possibility of a life after prison. One can only imagine the abuse she suffered at the hands of her father, but he may also have been abused as a child (as I believe he claims) and where do you draw the line? His other daughters seem relatively normal, so why did she do what she did? I guess it’s hard to speculate as we really don’t know any of the details, but it seems to me that these kids all had tough lives. I believe Castro’s ex-wife (who was beaten savagely by him and died last year) remarried a guy who was then convicted of abusing two of her children! So wow, could have been they went from the fire into the frying pan.
        The issue has baffled many far longer than I’ll ever know, But in that case, my first thought was that she had been raped by her father and the baby was born as a result and she tried to kill her,It seemed like she was more sinned agianst than sinning
    Darlin’ pay attention!!! I replaced my ex with my first ever dog. Best thing I ever did! Now my first born has long since gone to wait for me above, I have since gotten numerous other dogs. Anyone and everyone who knows me, knows that “love me, love my dogs”. And they always do. Plus if they can’t go, I don’t go. Really very simple dear. You have been so busy educating us, that you have lost the grasp of the simple things like MMD + kids + JM = sheer heaven and bliss, especially on JM’s part!!!! He’s never had it so good!!!!
    Oh, MMD, I did not know you lost your first born. I’m crying as I’ve just realized I know very little about everyone here cuz I haven’t paid enough attention. I just pop in and drop. lo siento. I just have a real sense (that my family here has been trying to understand, but I think now do) of something akin to kinship in this most marvelous sand pit. I’m guessing that Rascal song Forever was good for you? By the way, did you know the Queen knighted Juan? He’s probably way too modest and humble to tell you until after the honeymoon….you know him 😉 {{{heart felt sympathy, always}}}
    A couple of things here…..Has anyone here commented on the part of the Fox interview where she is asked if she is aware of how involved the public is and what they think about her and the trial? She says she gets newspapers and to her it appears that the support is pretty even! I’m sure she also gets fed info from jodiariasisinnocent.com as well. Another feeding of her delusions!
    On a completely different topic…I cannot stand what I’ve seen of Nurmi, and can’t see that I would choose him as either a lawyer or a friend, but as someone who has fought weight issues all my life, I would not make his weight a factor in those choices. In recent years, I’ve had a lot of hair loss which is beyond my control, so I get uncomfortable with criticisms of Willmott’s bald spot as I spray fiber to cover mine! (I have no problem at all with ripping apart her lousy cross examinations or her girlfriend attitude with her client and twins-y dressing!)Most people, I believe, who wear glasses part time wear them for reading like I do. However, many younger folks do wear them for distance only! That MAY be the case for Arias. On the other hand, she may well be wearing them as “costume” to appear plain or “intelligent” (See basketball stars Chris Paul, LeBron James and Dwayne Wade!! ) Personally, that’s what I think, but I don’t know for sure! Because I am a senior with a very bad back, I use a shiny red scooter when I know I will either have to walk a distance of more than a block or will have to stand in a line to wait for something. Arias’ grandma may be faking it for sympathy…likely is, but given my situation, I tend to cut her some slack thinking that as a senior, she may have my same issues.
    All that paragraph is about is to celebrate this site, unlike others I have visited, for keeping comments pertinent to the case and not sliding into personal criticisms. Donchais, thank you for that, and for making this overweight, balding, near-sighted, back-stooping senior comfortable reading and occasionally posting here! And for the rest of you posters, thank you for listening and answering my questions even if I was late coming to this site! You are all so appreciated!
  176. Lisa M
    05/10/2013 at 3:57 pm
    I have a couple of points to make. First, now that I’ve heard the recording of JA setting up her post-verdict interview it’s obvious she planned to do what she did so she could be taken out of general population and gum up the works of the penalty phase. So therefore everything she said was planned out, meaning she deliberately planned to lash out at the family, Juan, etc. (I know this is nothing you guys don’t already know!! 🙂 ) Which goes to show, as if we didn’t already know, how truly twisted she is. Her biggest concern was to make sure that she had a plan in place to let everyone know that she was still in charge and in control of her life and that they hadn’t won, to hurt the family and make false accusations against Juan, to insult Travis again, because don’t you know, it’s his fault that she’s in this mess? She was more concerned about “winning” than she was in the verdict itself.
    Secondly, karma’s a bitch. There was a psychologist on HLN who said that her days in the psych ward won’t be a picnic. She’ll be checked on every 15 minutes and can’t wear clothes. I honestly don’t think it’s going to be the happy place she’s expecting it to be. And he also said that this won’t go on indefinitely. So eventually, she will have to sit there for the penalty phase and Juan will use the interview against her to show that she has no remorse, will hurt the family any chance she gets. I just hope that this doesn’t happen again. I am still so outraged that this interview happened to begin with. It just goes to show the sorry state of victim rights in this country. I’m sure she’ll find some way to manipulate but only if she’s allowed to. What is wrong with the people that allowed this travesty to occur?
  177. Lisa M
    05/10/2013 at 4:01 pm
    And just one more thing. 🙂 I think Wilmott is the main force behind that motion to disallow the Alexander family to read their victim impact statements in court. She flinched when she head the gasp from the family. She was really annoyed by it. I don’t think the motion will be granted; I’ll be very surprised if it is, considering how unbelievably restrained the family has been. I hope I won’t have to eat my words.
    • 05/10/2013 at 4:06 pm
      I am afraid the motion will be granted. I mean this judge has bent over backwards for WoBo so far, why would she stop now
      • SCK
        05/10/2013 at 5:35 pm
        I don’t think it will be granted. Judge Stephens has denied every ridiculous motion for mistrial and this one stands in that category. I think Jodi probably pulled a public display of drama yesterday and they had no other option but to postpone because she refused to cooperate. Personally, they should leave her in her cell, restrained, with her face facing a monitor so that she is forced to hear what the Alexander family has to say…won’t change anything in her, but at least they will have the last word — as it should be.
    True, but Juan will fight it. I don’t know that much about it, but it really seems like it would break precedent. Why should she be given special treatment? The family has never behaved disrespectful to the court so they should be allowed this one small thing. It’s their right.
    • 05/10/2013 at 4:14 pm
    Re Victim Impact Statements —
    It’s not cut & dried that the family even wants to testify in court. That’s an emotionally wrenching experience they may want to avoid. Arizona gives victims the option not to testify at all, or submit a letter, or a video or voice recording.
    In all cases, the judge and lawyers discuss the testimony in advance with the victim(s) to make sure the content is acceptable. I don’t believe they are allowed to mention the defendent, or what they did – not even shake a finger at them – all possible grounds for death penalty reversal. Some prosecutors encourage victim statements, some don’t.
    It would be interesting to see what happened in that regard in other murder trials Martinez prosecuted
      The size of ones memorial is a testament to a persons character. If the Alexander family could show the “legacy” web comments on paper to the jury, the remarkable fanned stack of paper will provide a tangible display of how much he was loved.
      If jodi gets death, the valid family and friends “legacy” comments will be minimal. 💉💉💉💉
    Jill :
    Absolutely baffles me that none of the prisoners have caught on to her b.s.!
    Those who end up in prison are not very bright. Dummies like her, anyone normal repels her.
    I’ve spoken to the Prosecuters office… (MMD, surprisingly Juan was away on vacation, but i left him a compliment before hanging up). the Maricopa sheriffs Office and various other offices. Mostonly had voice mail. When I did get a person on lin,e noone could give me an answer as to how JA made that phone call to Fox.
    HJ mentioned that it could have been three way call.. Jodi to Dono to fox.. Nope 3 ways are automatically disconnected.
    All I spoke to were very polite and when I asked extremely over the trial and calls re: JA .they talked a little but gave no info of course. I was to
    D to e,ail MC media office and see of they could answer. I really want to know how she made that call.
    I think I’ve crossed a boundary. I’m obsessing
      Understanding is that she made the call on Sunday, May 5th before the verdict. She was allowed 16(?) hours of phone time a week until convicted.
      • 05/10/2013 at 5:56 pm
        Please explain how she was able to leave voicemail. She can ONLY make collect calls.
      Tell Syn cause she won’t believe me. 😉 Anyway, I when I was talking about this upstairs I think it was more of a call forwarding a la OJ rather than a 3 way conversation. How are they going to know if it is call forwarded by say Dono if they only occasionally listen and tape? She could talk to Dono for a few minutes and then they’d put the call to whoever she wanted OR DonoMAN could have taped the message and played it onto the reporter’s voicemail. 💡 I think it was one of the two. What say you??????
      I’m so glad that everyone was so polite to you because they really have been swamped with calls but I’m make sure and tell JM. Thankfully word hasn’t gotten out to press yet about the nuptials. He would hate it if they were rude. 😉
      As for crossing a boundary, darlin’ you’ve simply joined the rest of us here on the dark side. It’s soooooo much better once you’ve really become obsessed because then we’re all on the same page, so to speak!!! 😀
      • 05/10/2013 at 6:05 pm
        Syn is well aware of the situation. She’s simply in denial. 🙂
        And my message for Juan
        was everyone at CHJ appreciated hm and the work he’s done for TA.
        Network… I was told the phone system picks up 3 ways or forwarding and immediately disconnects
        Love to the pups. 🙂
        Deco – what do ya think about Dono taping the message and then she played it for the reporter’s voicemail? Since they can tell is a call is forwarded, that’s got to be the only answer. What do ya think?
        The pups send licks, kisses and sniffs back to you 😀
      You GO GIRL! I think you should express outrage! The other thing, WOBO has a ton of money on her account and has been ordering commissary for “less fortunate” inmates. I wonder if she was able to bribe one of them with a tasty treat, or even a guard.
      • 05/10/2013 at 6:24 pm
        Let me first explain typo above. I Sind Not say CHJ. I specially said Calls For Justice.
        I’m pretty much intolerant of people who lay blame elsewhere. The people I spoke to were worthy of respect and understood my inquiry.. They were however not allowed to comment If anyone’s is interested I can post the media office website I was referred to re the interview
        Did I mention above that they’re burned out after 4 months of this bbullshit and phone calls?
        05/10/2013 at 7:32 pm
        Wonder what happens to that money in her commissary account now that she is convicted and will probably be moved after she gets out of the psych ward?????????? Does that mean no more help for the “less fortunate inmates”? 😉 I just hope they take away her golf pencils cause she truly will suffer without them 😈
      Could have been the news station accepted her collect call ans transferred her into his voice mail.
      The jail does have pre-paid options – but I think those are an account paid for by person receiving the call. Station may have set one up in hopes to get the call.
      However . There are few tricks the inmates use : (dont ask how I know this – not me personally) .. 3 way calling by holding one phone up to another phone. Or my recording the message and playing it back . ??
    You shouldn’t have to make a “collect” call if it’s local.
    Thank ya’ll for answering my questions, especially the first one. I just have this nagging fear she is gonna figure out a way to get out of all this even though she’s been found guilty! I feel much better knowing the verdict stands. Two more silly questions though…. Once she has been sentenced, then can Her attorneys quit? I feel they want to be done with her! And like them or not I can’t imagine having to deal with her as much as they have! So once she is sentenced can they say good riddance!!??? Or must they stay as her counsel for the appeals and all we know she will do? I can’t imagine anyone else trying to help this person out in the future and I’d love to know the attorney who knows her case best according to her won’t help her in the future. Secondly, who the heck is going to speak on her behalf during penalty phase? Just her mom? Doesn’t seem she has any friends, they were all Travis’s, all she has is some old boyfriends, don’t think any if them will do it. It doesn’t seem as though she has had Anybody whatsoever on her side this trial! (Rightfully so, she’s a nut!) but seriously, whose gonna speak for her??!!! Donovan!!?!
      Mom, Aunt, Granny, maybe her father, wheeled up with tubes attached… The boyfriend who gave her the gas cans. The childhood girlfriend who’s wedding she attended. Hell, maybe Dr Phil as tradeoff for death watch interview.
      1. These lawyers are done after sentencing (and some procedural wrap up stuff) . If she gets an automatic appeal the state will provide her with new – probably specializing in appeals. -Dont know if Life w/o get auto appeal or not – (should look that up hmmm) . If no automatic appeal she will have to find one that she can afford or who will pro-bono her case.
      2.. Good question. It seems like slim pickins.
    Hello all, just visited the jackassisinnocent site. They are all in their glory, stating that based on what juror #8 said after the verdict, may be just what they need for appeal, sentence overturned, blah, blah, blah.
    I myself do wish he would have not said anything until this was all over.
    He really didn’t say anything bad though. Just that he wasn’t surprised at the verdict. If he had admitted any wrong doing by the jurors I’d be worried but there was none. The people on the that are truly delusional.
