yup, till they go in session…let’s ya know they are still working

    • 05/22/2013 at 5:17 pm

my seal has been up since the judge sent the jury back to attempt to break their impasse.

      • 05/22/2013 at 5:18 pm

Sorry to get everyone riled up. I’m on pins and needles

I cannot take anymore. Why is taking so long? These jurors said that they could handle death penalty. Just remember Maritime: Travis will be 30 forever. Lets give to this monster what she deserves.

  3. 05/22/2013 at 5:13 pm

Thank you Donchais for the new sandbox. Praying for JUSTICE.

    05/22/2013 at 5:18 pm

..I want so bad for it to be over!! Especially for Travis’ family and friends…enough is enough!!!!!!! And WHY is this judge allowing this beast to give interviews????? Jodi should just go away….to her teeny, weeny 12×12 cell. THAT is what SHE deserves!

    • HJ Madison
      05/22/2013 at 5:21 pm

Not even 12×12 … like 8 x 11. And all ALONE!!! No one around to enchant but herself. Just growing hair!

OK, in the Wendi Andriano case. The hold out ended up changing his mind. Truth is, none of us can predict what will happen with this jury.

    • 05/22/2013 at 5:19 pm

ohhhh.. so there was one hold out on that case? How long did he hold out for Donchais?

        05/22/2013 at 5:29 pm

A Judge issuing the ‘dynamite’ charge can bring quick or lengthy delibs…just depends when and where the jury is! Know that’s not what anyone wants to hear. It is what it is!

      • 05/22/2013 at 5:36 pm

Donchais.. don’t worry what we want to hear.. just tell us as you see it! Actually I think that’s what we want to hear anyhow 😉 ok that probably makes no sense but I know what I mean and I hope you do too! *cross eyes*

Thx, luv…after so many years of doing this and realizing so many are new to the legal system being so different from state to state, it’s hard to swallow sometimes. I depress myself enuff without doing it to others!

LOL!!! nooo nooo nooooo I dont think your insight depresses anyone!! Level heads so often right the ship and with you at the helm we rarely seem off kilter very long! Why do you think we hang here!! 😀

I found this very interesting insight to what a jury goes through.

nitial vote – only 3 in support of DP

(After one and a nice three day weekend) When they reconvened, a juror gave a good speech giving reason he supported DP and the vote change to 11 for DP – 1 against . The hold out was admiatley against DP. At end of day three someone told the hold out “Wendi has manipulated you” the juror agreed.

On begnning of day 4 juror had changed their mind and gave short speech as to why. The End.

Recall how we worried about those jury questions? The one that seemed to be a friend and buying Jodi’s DV line of BS? Just thinking ….

    • 05/22/2013 at 5:24 pm

Well we should ask the all wise wobo, remember someone said she directed her statement to each jury member, the cancer survivor, the teacher, the environmentalist, the artist, the butcher (her), the baker (her of cookies) and the candlestick maker (her with either what she does w them or in her evil pic w the candlelight or similar). To the corner I go….

      • 05/22/2013 at 5:26 pm

lolol @ the butcher, the banker and the candlestick maker!!!! toooo funny love it!!

        Yes, Wendy Miurphy

      • 05/22/2013 at 5:56 pm

Oh I knew. It’s amazing how she’s done the ultimate and continues to have it her way as the peons fall on their face. On the other hand, the rest of us peasants get stocks and chains when looking cross-eyed.

  7. 05/22/2013 at 5:21 pm

What suprises me is they weren’t deliberating but what 2 or 3 hours before they were like nope we wont be able to unanimously decide

    • 05/22/2013 at 5:23 pm

that’s what points to me they knew they were locked… this jury has not acted that way before this so they must have had very good reason to think there was a genuine stalemate.

Just to lighten our moods a little…..As I was changing my kitty’s very smelly, very “lumpy” and very sandy litterbox, all I could think of was “sandbox”, which led me to the calling of this very clean, very smooth place that we call a sandbox! After a chuckle to myself, I think I will refer to this special place as a school yard, to avoid any undesireable mental transfers!

    • 05/22/2013 at 5:24 pm

Don’t they realize how many people would have to go in to some kind of protection program IF she is ever released? Damn I wish Juan could have driven this point home.

So, what were her mitigating factors? why can’t the jury just go down that list???

Please Jury, Get it Right! It’s a sentence of Death.

  15. 05/22/2013 at 5:32 pm

I wonder what the Jurors that got dismissed think about all this???

    • MMD
      05/22/2013 at 5:38 pm

Probably not very much!!!! Juror #8 seemed to believe that reaching the DP, if he was still on, wouldn’t be a problem. He has really blamed himself for his dui and felt he let down the family but Skye Hughes reached out to him to tell him that the family didn’t feel that way. He really needed to stay cause he was the one we figured would be the foreperson.

      • ringadingding
        05/22/2013 at 5:43 pm

Maybe this is the reason he feels guilty…did he see this coming?

      • MMD
        05/22/2013 at 5:56 pm

Maybe but he said that his first time on Dr. Drew. I got the general feeling that none of the jury was really buying what JA was selling but I don’t know why. That was before they started deliberating. Dunno, maybe you’re right. 😯

      • NancyB
        05/22/2013 at 6:02 pm

ohhh how i hope the jurors that get this say the same thing to the juror(s) that aren’t yet getting it!!

  22. Kathy A.
    05/22/2013 at 5:47 pm

I hope the jurors who are holding out on the DP consider that even though a date with the executioner will eventually be set, by the time she exhausts all of her appeals and uses any other delay tactics she can, it could be 20 to 25 years before she is put to death. That’s a long period of life they, or the State, or giving her. It’s not like once they come to a verdict of death the bailiff is going to shove her out the back door in front of a firing squad (oh, but one can dream…I know that’s cold-hearted, but JA inspires such a visceral reaction I don’t feel guilty). Come to a DP verdict, then let the machinations of the system take over, because I would think as difficult as coming to a DP verdict may be, how much more difficult if you are the one or two who hang the jury and put the Alexander family through this all over again because you think teaching inmates Spanish outweighs the horrific, cruel murder of Travis?

    • MMD
      05/22/2013 at 5:51 pm

I think they need to give her the DP, immediately, by hanging so that her organs can be harvested without any damage to help so many good people who want to live longer and truly deserve to. PK came up with the organ donation, I came up with the hanging! 😀

      • HJ Madison

o gosh nooo!! I can’t imagine anyone needing an organ to have anything that has been inside this evil POS. Too high of a chance that evil could/would seep through the organs.

      • 05/22/2013 at 5:56 pm

hell no.. I don’t want her DNA tainting another human being!!!

      • MMD
        05/22/2013 at 6:01 pm

Would love to see her head pop off.

The organs in her body would be fine, it’s just the brain that would be the issue. I mean, truly, do ya think her kidney is going to turn a normal person into another JA? 🙄

    • Elexa
      05/22/2013 at 5:53 pm

That time frame is another part of the reason I’m ok with LWOP. Put her in prison and forget about her. No new trials, no automatic appeals, no one crying outside and lighting candles in 20 years for her sorry butt. Just stick her in a cell and forget her.

      • donchais
        05/22/2013 at 6:01 pm

Does anyone remember the original movie “12 Angry Men” about a capital murder case and one holdout?? The 1957 version with Lee J. Cobb and Henry Fonda. It is a very intense movie about jury deliberations.

Definitely dating myself but a movie I have never forgotten.

    • HJ Madison
      05/22/2013 at 5:59 pm

Hi guys ~ mom in law in hospital so dealing with that. Been following when I had a chance to read. All of you have been so informative, but today hubby and I are distraught that justice is having a difficult time coming forth.

Have lots of negative thoughts about what we could do with the skank but I will leave that to . . . .? But I do believe when she gets to prison she may come up against one that has been there a goodly length of time and may get a good pounding. Or at least I am hoping.

I’m wondering what the jury thought would be the judge’s response to their lack of agreement after such a short deliberation. Surely, they knew they’d be send back in to deliberate some more? It must have been really bad. Some intransigent juror(s) who never intended to deliberate.

I love that term, dynamite charge. Had to look it up. I like that some judges “will often assure them that if the case has to be tried again, another jury won’t necessarily do a better job than they’re doing.” It’s exactly what the defense is hoping for. Does a second jury every decide DP? I’m guessing not.

Or maybe they are just sick and tired and rather than going thru ANOTHER excruciating deliberation, they just tossed it out there …. like “hey judge… pick someone else, will ya?”. Some of them came to court today anticipating a long day … maybe when LWOP suddenly became Life or LWOP … things got heated and they wanted an easy out ….

    Status Update
via The State vs Jodi Arias ~ Travis Alexander murder trial

Two hours into deliberation Wednesday, the Jodi Arias jury informed Maricopa Superior Court Judge Sherry Stephens that it was unable to reach a unanimous decision on whether to sentence Arias to death or life in prison.

The judge gathered the jury in the court room and read them a standard instruction, asking them to deliberate further.

The jury sent a handwritten note on an official question form to the judge. It said: “If the jury is unable to come to a unanimous decision @ this stage, do we notify the judge of this on the form (verdict) or do we just tell the judge her instruction on the bottom P. 10 on the final jury Instruction-Penalty phase?”

It was signed by juror No.18.

So, is “The Artist” the foreman?

      05/22/2013 at 6:11 pm

Hi Chrissie! Long time no see. Thanks for this update! From Katiecoolady:

#18 The Artist-Bald, attractive, glasses, 50′s-60′s, large build, holds his notebook on a binder as if he’s going to sketch. He looks around the gallery a lot. This guy also had a very intense gaze. He took some notes. He rubbed his face and tapped his fingers to his lips a lot.

If 18 signed the form then most probably that is the foreman.

If I found out I had Jodisteins kidney or any other organ inside me.. I seriously do not know what I would do.. I would feel like gouging it out myself.. I would seriously want it GONE.. I would NOT want it inside of me at any cost. That’s just me.. but no.. I wouldn’t.. plus LDS faith prohibits it I thought, and as far as I know she still counts herself under its auspices so on that the point is moot anyhow.

      05/22/2013 at 6:45 pm

Have to politely disagree with y’all on this. As someone who has been on the kidney transplant waiting list for nearly 5 years, it really doesn’t matter where the organ comes from, even though you think that it does, if it means it’s going to save your life. Charles Cullen, the serial killer in New Jersey (former male nurse who murdered at least 20 patients) wanted to donate a kidney to the male relative of a former girlfriend. He was a perfect match. There was legal wrangling for years as various entities fought for and against it…in the meantime, the kidney patient got sicker and sicker; Cullen was finally whisked to surgery in the middle of the night with no fan fare, his kidney removed and flown to the waiting recipient, who is still alive and healthy. So as much as I despise Jodi Arias, I would take one of her kidneys in a New York minute. After all, she’s really healthy, right? She doesn’t smoke. She just kills.

      • 05/22/2013 at 6:46 pm

and it would certainly be your right to choose to do so.

I agree, donshais. I can live with either, especially if it’s LWOP. If she is in solitary and can’t be out forming fan clubs and making sexual contacts, that’s almost the same as the death penalty since there are appeals and such a long time before it’s carried out! I don’t want another “mini” trial that would be caused by a hung jury.

I watched the judge’s instructions to the jury on what “life” means. Does anyone know why the Alexanders weren’t in the courtroom for that? I would think they’d want to be there to hear Wilmott insist that if they are merciful and give JA life, she will never get out. This, despite Juan’s reading of the law, which states that the judge can give her life with possibility of release in 25 years and that even if there are no provisions for release now, there’s no way to guarantee there won’t be in 25 years (actually, 20). The Alexanders should have been there to hear that.

It’s 4:00pm in Arizona… So I’m thinking no definitive word today. I can’t stop thinking about what this must be like for Travis’s family… And Juan.

Last night I was so pissed off about “Hair, lights, make-up”, that I went to go for a nice long ride and clear my head, I managed to make myself feel better by thinking that no matter what happens with the verdict, JA will never sleep in a clean cozy bed, get a hug from a child, smell Spring flowers and fresh cut grass, feel the morning sunshine on her face, etc, etc etc, (I had a HUGE list running!). John Goodman must remain on house arrest, judge rules
Polo mogul’s bail reduced to $4 million while he awaits new trial
    UPDATED 5:33 PM EDT May 22, 2013

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. —Polo mogul John Goodman will remain on house arrest, but his bail will be reduced.

Judge Jeffrey Colbath issued the ruling Wednesday as the International Polo Club Palm Beach founder awaits a new trial.

During a hearing last week, Goodman’s attorney asked that his client’s bond be reinstated to the same release conditions he had before his DUI manslaughter conviction last year. However, the assistant state attorney argued that Goodman was a flight risk because of his wealth.

Colbath’s ruling removes the required 24-hour monitoring by the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office at Goodman’s Wellington estate. It also reduces the bail amount from $7 million to $4 million.

Goodman will still be required to wear an ankle-monitoring device, and he can only leave his property to visit his doctor or attorney.

The ruling also states that Goodman can’t drive and must submit to random alcohol and drug tests three times per month.

Finally, Goodman is only allowed out of his house for one hour per day during daylight hours.

Former assistant state attorney Ellen Roberts, who prosecuted Goodman, told WPBF 25 News she isn’t completely satisfied with the ruling.

“There is nothing to preclude Goodman from cutting off the ankle bracelet,” Roberts said. “House arrest doesn’t always keep them where they’re supposed to be. I don’t trust him. I’d rather the judge reduce the bond even more and keep the deputies at the house.”

Goodman was convicted in the 2010 death of recent college graduate Scott Wilson. The verdict was thrown out earlier this month due to juror misconduct.

A new trial date has not been set.

Is it just me, or did Jodi get caught in a lie? She said in her TV interviews last night that her family visited her the day she was found guilty. Wasn’t her family turned away from the jail? She did the TV interview with local Fox instead of visiting her family, right? If I’m wrong, please let me know because I feel like she’s sitting there lying through her teeth.

Juan was great in that instruction mishap this morning. He said the judge will either give Jodi Natural Life, which is life without parole, or Life which will make her legally eligible to seek release after 25 years. Wilnot objected. Then she got up and lied and said because there currently is NO Procedure in place to grant parole, Jodi will NEVER get out.

    ringadingding :
I watched the judge’s instructions to the jury on what “life” means. Does anyone know why the Alexanders weren’t in the courtroom for that? I would think they’d want to be there to hear Wilmott insist that if they are merciful and give JA life, she will never get out. This, despite Juan’s reading of the law, which states that the judge can give her life with possibility of release in 25 years and that even if there are no provisions for release now, there’s no way to guarantee there won’t be in 25 years (actually, 20). The Alexanders should have been there to hear that.

Thanks so much for the post! I suspect that Juan called the Alexanders and explained the error. He offered them a choice. If they wanted to come to court ASAP or if they were ok with him proceeding alone. By waiting it meant the jury would not be allowed to deliberate. So, to keep the jury moving, the instruction was held without the Alexanders, but I am betting Juan had their OK.

I just know that if Juan had been allowed to show them her post-verdict interview (not even the part about the DP, but the part where she falsely accused Travis yet again of being a pedophile) they would have already been back with a DP verdict. Do you think Juan would have tried to get it in, or would have had grounds to get it in during the penalty phase? I don’t know how it works, if it just flat-out wouldn’t have been allowed because the prosecutor isn’t allowed to argue anything beyond what has already been brought up in the trial, or to rebut what the defense presents, but it would have definitively shown she will never shut up, and that what she said about Stephen never having to see her because she’ll be in prison was a lie. As long as there is a TV camera available, he will always have to see her, because even if he doesn’t watch the interviews himself, he’ll know she’s still publicly maligning his brother. I know it would have swayed them towards the DP because it would have definitively proven how vindictive she is.

  61. Moon
    05/22/2013 at 7:40 pm

I hope the jurors all do a lot of soul searching tonight. Ask themselves… she put Travis in a BOX (after she stuffed his brutally killed body in the shower to rot), why does she derserve anything more than that??????

That biotch has already lived longer than Travis.

It’s such a no brainer for me, in this case! Those jurors need to go back over in their minds tonight the totallity of this hanous crime!

    Please Jury get it right!

    ***********************JUSTICE FOR TRAVIS VICTOR ALEXANDER********************

  62. Lisa M
    05/22/2013 at 7:41 pm

Here’s the thing: if they don’t vote for the DP or if they can’t unanimously decide, while I’ll be disappointed, I won’t fault the jury. If they saw everything we saw and knew everything we know, I have not doubt they’d vote for it. It isn’t their fault if they’re not provided with the full picture.

    • Lisa M
      05/22/2013 at 7:45 pm

In other words, they don’t know the full extent of her vindictiveness, her narcissism, her lying. If they go by the crime alone, it certainly is enough to put her away behind bars for the rest of her life, but it may just not be enough for all of them because each and every one of them may not fully realize that she will never be remorseful, that she will never stop lying and maligning Travis and hurting his family. One or two may actually believe there’s hope for her to at least do some little bit of good in jail, and don’t realize how soulless she really is.

      • ringadingding
        05/22/2013 at 7:54 pm

But didn’t they agree that the crime was worthy of the DP (in the aggravation phase)? If so, they need to consider whether or not the mitigating factors outweigh aggravating factors. I just can’t see how that is possible in anyone’s universe (except someone drinking the JA koolaid).

  63. Janna
    05/22/2013 at 7:41 pm

When I spoke with the Commission on Judicial Conduct in Maricopa County this afternoon, I was told the decision to lift the media ban for CMJA had to be agreed upon by all parties (Judge SS, Prosecution and Defense).

That must have been an ugly discussion/slugfest.

    • Lisa M
      05/22/2013 at 7:48 pm

What I’m thinking, Janna, is that Juan isn’t objecting, because he just may be able to use her interviews against her in the future in the case of an appeal. I bet that’s the reason. He knows she won’t be remorseful and will continue to slander Travis and hurt the family, so he’s going to give her that rope, knowing that sooner or later it will hang her. (no pun intended)

I can’t speak to the difference between AZ and CA prisons, but I can’t imagine they’re that different. In my husband’s case, he’s in CA prison, and none of what this inmate speaks of is the case. He was immediately eligible for all programs, classes, a job, etc. And my husband is a high level felony sex offender. I just highly doubt this isn’t going to be the case for Jodi.

        05/22/2013 at 9:03 pm

I believe it’s Different for a first degree murder convict in Arizona, Crystal. They are considered hard core dangerous, and kept in semi isolation, away from the general population for a period of time determined by prison authority. Some of them never are allowed to integrate with the general prison population. And it usually takes years to be reclassified from Level 1 to Level 3 (not sure that’s the exact terminology used) where they are allowed to work at various jobs that maintain the prison.

But also, would like for you to know that I also am keeping you and yours in my prayers. Also, there is a scripture that has helped me through many, many dark and uncertain times: Psalms 126:5,6 : “They that sow in tears will reap in joy.He that goes forth weeping, carrying precious seed, will come in rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him.” I always took that to mean that for every tear of sorrow that I have cried, Papa God would give me 1000 tears of joy. I thought it was so funny how she said “I’ve never been to prison, I don’t know what it’ll be like,” because I was thinking you’ve been in prison for the last five years! But I didn’t realize there is such a big difference between the jail and the prison, and now I’m thinking maybe she won’t have her group of jailhouse sycophants around her. Maybe now she’s going to the big girl prison where they won’t all be such big fans of hers.

yes it is definitely possible…. especially when she claimed that the friend and her 9 year old daughter received threats and that’s why she wasn’t there. ringadingding :
I watched the judge’s instructions to the jury on what “life” means. Does anyone know why the Alexanders weren’t in the courtroom for that? I would think they’d want to be there to hear Wilmott insist that if they are merciful and give JA life, she will never get out. This, despite Juan’s reading of the law, which states that the judge can give her life with possibility of release in 25 years and that even if there are no provisions for release now, there’s no way to guarantee there won’t be in 25 years (actually, 20). The Alexanders should have been there to hear that.

HOW did this jury instructions get “left off”???? OMG ??? What else can happen in this messed-up POS trial???

    • ringadingding
      05/22/2013 at 8:47 pm

I know…all I could think was what else wasn’t done that should have been? More grounds for appeal. And this is so basic, too. Juan touched on it in his closing (despite JW’s efforts to squelch him), so he must have pressed for this to happen.

    • Kristy
      05/22/2013 at 9:27 pm

Well the judge sure has bent over backwards for Jodi. I doubt this will give her anymore grounds for appeal than anything else.

OK – guys – I am needing some intervention/counseling from you all. I am and have been so saddened today after hearing the jury is having such difficulties with the DP. I have watched this trial each and every day and read as many blogs and discussions about the trial as I can. It has been so much of my life for all these months and now I am just so sad – and can’t seem to shake the saddness. I am sad for Travis & his family – yes – but really deeper than that I am so sad about out justice system. I can’t do the whole cliche’ thing about “Well the Am. justice system – even with it’s flaws – is the best in the world.” UGH ! It sucks. And it is so NOT justice for the victims. Anyway, I can’t seem to get beyond this saddness and I need some encouraging words from you smart people who I read every day. Thanks so much!!!!

      05/22/2013 at 9:45 pm

If it helps, you’re not alone. I’m just holding onto the hope that this will not be a hung jury. At this point, any unanimous decision is going to provide more relief to the Alexanders than a hung jury and retrial of the penalty phase. I just have to believe the jurors will work it out, and go to sleep with good thoughts that reason will prevail in that jury room.

      05/22/2013 at 9:50 pm

Allison: First, thanks for your terrific find today. We had a wee-of-time with it when we really needed to laugh. See above (if you dare!)😉

Now look, the VERY MOST IMPORTANT thing has been achieved. Skank was found guilty of 1st degree premeditated murder. She is and always will be a convicted murderess. That is a big deal! Second, the “forgotten” jury instruction may have shed new light on this decision for the jury. I listened carefully to the added instruction today, Wilnot and Juan’s argument. Wilnot out and out lied! And it is obvious! I think the jury was thinking well …. either way she will be locked away for ever. That little foul up today pointed out to them that if they do not unanimously vote for the DP, the decision on LWOP, or Life for 25 years is out of their hands, and in the hands of the judge. 2 hours later they came back and said “hey, this is not easy, do we have to continue?” That says to me that all of the jurors want WOBO sent away forever, some are hedging on giving her death. Now they fully understand the only way to ensure that she NEVER gets out is to decide on death. And, that is just difficult! Think about it though…. the jury’s chain has been yanked over and over and over again and now that they have control, they are going to keep it! One way or another they will decide this.

So you know, it is not at all uncommon for juries to initially have trouble. The judge sent them back and told them to get to work. And, this jury unanimously agreed she planned this murder days in advance. Even if they fail to give her the DP, I am sure the judge will give her LWOP. She knows all about little Jodi and her antics. Either way … she is a goner. Now, go head upstairs and read that good description that Chrissie found on life in Jodi’s new home! (currently #249). That will make you feel better.

Travis will rest in peace, the Alexanders will never hear from her again and the Jodi Show will come to an end …. soon … tick… tick…

Ditto and I served on a double murder/double defendant DP case. In our state we deadlocked for DP so the scum auto got LWP. But the judge gave it consec so see you in 50 years….25 x 2 vics. The public skewered us.

Chief: If you have a little time, it would be great if you could comment on how difficult the DP is, even if you do believe in it. Maybe the things your fellow jurors struggled with. It is such a hard thing to grapple with. We know how busy you are so understand if you can not. But I know it would be helpful and interesting. 😊

Allison, I share your feelings of sadness and agree with your point about our Justice system with its share of issues.

For my own well-being, I’ve had to step away from the sandbox and daily tv coverage of the Arias trial. The complexities and legal nuances and emotional toll have shaken me to my core. In contrast, I can’t come close to grasping what the Alexander family has gone through these past 5 years. The massiveness of their grief and trauma and loss brings me to my knees. Though I have the option to retreat into the confines and stillness of my cocoon; the Alexanders do not.

Like you Allison, I too have been touched and affected by the life of Travis Victor Alexander and the painful experiences of his beautiful family. The hideousness of Jodi Arias’ brutal crime compels us to come to terms with the troubling realities of our times and the dark forces around us.

Justice is coming for Travis. Light is shining through the darkness. We must, must, must be brave and strong and faithful and united in our quest to defeat the monster Arias head-on for she would love nothing more than to see us lose hope.

Be a warrior for our Angel Travis. He needs each and every one of us. This is our battle against monster Arias and we will WIN.

Hi Allison – I think it may have been more of a clarification that the jurors wanted rather than stating they were deadlocked – they are a smart jury, and I still have faith in them – I posted an article earlier regarding this – here is another from KatieKoolady:

Thanks Chrissie. This helps understand what was happening. The Judge goofed in instructing originally and goofed a bit more by suggesting that the jury was “deadlocked”–it seems they wanted clarification, not to alert the Judge that they were stalled.

Crystal, you did great! And I want to tell you something, you were absolutely 100% credible during that interview. I’m not saying that because you’re on this blog. I actually used some of the lie detector tricks I learned from that human lie detector Dr. Drew always has on his show– I forget her name. I didn’t set out to do it, I gave you the benefit of the doubt, of course, but I just happened to notice that when the interviewer asked you about that role-play accusation, while you were telling her that wasn’t true, you were shaking your head “no,” along with your answer. It just jumped into my head what that lie detector lady said: that when someone is lying they’ll often nod their head while they’re saying no, or shake their head “no” while they’re saying “yes.” In any case, you passed with flying colors! Don’t let the haters get you down. You came off as composed and very believable. I give you a lot of credit for all you’ve done.

Chief on a Ship: Thank you! My mindset was all about survival, not just today tomorrow or next week, but months from now. Police are not personal body guards. And when seconds count the police are only minutes away. My husband CALMLY promised to kill me many times. He is extremely intelligent and psychopathic. I had to think like a chess game just to stay alive. I don’t know why people don’t understand that. They say, if you have money you can leave. If you have an hour of free time, you can use it to contact police. BS! That’s how women end up DEAD. That wasn’t gonna be me. I was just going to get a gun FIRST, that’s all. I have to say there was no way Jodi made up her little power point charts over the last 2weeks. She tweaked then to throw in digs at the jury, Travis, and Travis’s family. I’m sured planned on getting those Survivor tee-shirts out the during the trial all along.

She’s such a manipulative person, it scares me to think the maybe hung.

    • ringadingding
      05/22/2013 at 9:47 pm

She really wanted to hold that t-shirt up in front of her to say, Look, I’m a victim, not a murder. Really offensive.

Then why should the jury believe anything else she said. If there’s a lone holdout, I hope they bounce them for not following the rules.

      • 05/22/2013 at 11:43 pm

As someone who would be more inclined to sentence her to life, her lack of remorse and lack of apology (even though I would doubt her sincerity) does sway me more towards a death sentence.

      • Lisa M
        05/23/2013 at 11:48 am

Just another example of her immaturity. She’s like a little kid saying, “Why should I tell you anyway, you never believe me!”
Of course in Jodi’s case, she’s also a “kid” who’s lied many, many times. Just another of a multitude of examples of how she doesn’t take responsibility for anything she does. Oh and BTW, I don’t for a minute think she hopes the Alexander
family has found some peace (or “closure,” I think Wilmott said) with the verdict. I actually think she’s sick enough to know they haven’t and never will, and is sticking it to them when she says stuff like that. (Wilmott is probably ignorant enough to believe the closure bit, though, as laughable as it is.)

      • Lisa M
        05/22/2013 at 10:19 pm

When she said during her elocution, “I haven’t been able to look at Travis’ family for many reasons, which I won’t get into here,” I almost threw up. How absolutely galling to them. First of all, she’s lying. One of Travis’ sisters said she would try to make eye contact with them earlier in the trial. Secondly, who gives a crap? It’s not about you. They shouldn’t be able to look at you, you murdered their brother!) And thirdly, she was echoing what she said in her post-verdict interview (the one I can’t stop railing against) when she said she couldn’t look at them because it was like looking at her abuser.
She is a sick, twisted, evil, narcissistic, soulless loser who firmly believes that she is the center of the universe and that she is not responsible for anything she does. She doesn’t realize what an idiot she looks like and what an obvious liar she shows herself to be. She is like the emperor without any clothes on. She thinks she’s standing there like the queen bee hiding her evil shallowness when it’s actually on display for everyone. She is absolutely moronic– that’s how she comes across to me in those TV interviews. Yes, she’s evil, but she’s also very, very stupid. If only the TV networks would get the money signs out of their eyes, they’d be embarrassed to put this clown in front of the cameras.

    • HJ Madison
      05/22/2013 at 11:18 pm

This is the difference between jail and prison. In jail, the state is holding ALL types of folks, from misdemeanor offenders, murderers, dead-beat dads, drug dealers … you name it! And, they all have a different “agendas” … some go to court today, some are waiting, some attend mandatory classes, some are just sobering up! So, Sheriff Joe runs the show in an effort to maintain control, keep everything flowing and, of course, work on his re-election.

Prison comes in 3 or 4 levels of security and run by career professionals. EVERY “resident” is a convicted felon! The only constitutional rights a felon loses are the right to vote, to carry a gun and sit on a jury. However, life in prison is STRICTLY regulated for obvious reasons. Jodi will go to Maximum security for several years with few comforts and no access to the “general population”. She will never know “privacy” again (except to discuss her case with her lawyer). Anyone who visits must have permission and a background check. All packages come in from an outside vendor. Only after years of good behavior will she be allowed a lower security level with more contact and comforts. Her press interviews will cease for the foreseeable future. Jodi is in for a rude awakening! She will be a tiny little fish in an ocean full of sharks. It will not be pleasant for her and that smirk will literally be removed from her face, permanently.

Crystal!! Wow – Your Dateline episode was so well done! Didn’t you think so too? The *amazing* thing about what you did, while still not even recovered from the immense stress of the trial (like not being allowed to attend ANY of it because of testifying) is that you garnered all your energy, time, resources and blood, sweat and tears to effect real change in CA LAW and you were successful!

From reading Barbara Bentley’s book that you had recommended I now know all of what that process truly involves. WOW – You’re so amazing that you created such positive change for any other women or men that is unfortunate enough to find themselves in such an untenable situation. Thank-you so much! I’m sure that the process was a form of healing for you, how could it not be? And you did all of this while working full time and raising your 2 beautiful boys alone. You did a mighty great thing, Crystal and I’m so proud of you! Oh, I left you a comment on the previous thread after your disturbing post last night about being served. I don’t know if you saw it. 🙂

Thank you, Tracy! I didn’t see the comment…I’ll go look. It has been a long road. I was just conversing with another friend who was really blown away at how the jury didn’t believe me. I knew I had to speak out about spousal rape because I am a very credible person as far as a court witness can go…no drugs, alcohol, medical problems, same job for 20 yrs at same company managing people’s money, President of local political club, activist in the autism charities, etc. My integrity has never been questioned…ever!! And I had evidence on tape of his crime, as well as medical evidence from the 2nd rape SART exam. I figured if there wasn’t a conviction in this case, there would never be a conviction for this crime. So after the trial when he was convicted on 1of3 charges, I felt like I had to speak out for spousal rape victims. I knew I had the credibility to do so. I had the strength to do so. So I did.
And PS. Barbara Bentley is in the extended clip Dateline posted on their website of me passing my bill.

Crystal and Travis, though such different stories, deserve all our support and love. I ask all of the great family who have joined here to do the right thing…support, honor, and seek JUSTICE!

This is the purpose, this is the reason, and this is why we have gathered together. I am beyond proud of all of you for being the world-wide family we’ve become!

    Janna :

I posted this upstairs for Allsion. I’m asking all my sandbox buddies to stay strong and stay the course for Travis and his family. The monster Arias will take full delight in the smallest sign of weakness. Her days of walking among us are coming to an end.

Thanks – guys – for your great comments in helping me get over this saddness I have felt today ! It is pretty amazing that Travis has touched so many. I truly appreciate you guys taking the time to help me get a little perspective. I know that what has really brought it all to my heart – was hearing the interviews on Tricia’s radio show with Chris & Sky Hughes and learning great things about Travis and it just made it so much more real – that he was a really great guy and Jodi is just bonkers !
I began watching all of this back in January like a simple soap opera playing out in front of me – and thne I saw it as REAL people and a real tragedy – and before today I was rooting for the verdict like I was at a football game – and then today – it just hit me so hard that this is really REAL and even though I don’t know Travis & his family and friends personally – I see them as I would see my own family. Anyway – I am rambling, now, but THANKS – you guys – it has really been an honor to read your amazing thoughts and analysis-sss on all of this. 🙂

I also hope Travis gets justice from this jury and his family can find some sort of peace, or at least be allowed to start healing. If there are jurors who feel like they can’t impose the death penalty, they never should have said they could and let someone else serve on the jury. It’s a tough decision, but each one knew it was a very real possibility. I hope if there’s a holdout or two that they are refusing to even consider it, so the judge can excuse them and pull in alternates. I wonder if the foreperson knows they can do that?

  107. 05/23/2013 at 12:06 am

I finally watched the Dateline episode for myself and they sure left a lot out, but that’s editing for you. I do wish they’d have mentioned the multitude of 911 calls over the years. And I wish they would have connected the dot that I bought the gun the very same day he hurt me in front of the kids the first time. It was less than a week later that he raped me (I didn’t want to have sex cuz we hadn’t made up from him hitting me previously yet). It all flows in a logical timeline.
Oh, and the jury got the jury instructions wrong!!!! My husband is on tape forcing oral sex and then moves on to regular sex. The juror said that the jury thought they had to view each act seperately, like in a vacuum. That’s not true. The same threats, fear, and force carries over to that assault as well. So the jury hung. I wonder how many criminals get off with faulty jury instructions?

    • Lisa M
      05/23/2013 at 12:45 am

Crystal I wish they had mentioned the multiple 911 calls too. I’m sorry they edited things out that you feel would have provided a clearer picture. That must be frustrating to you. I remember the one and only time I was quoted for a newspaper article I was misquoted and ever since then I’ve been skeptical of the media. I don’t think most people realize how much they can distort a story. Still I think your truth came through. It was so obvious on the tape recording the agony you went through. It was really heartbreaking to hear. The guy who they interviewed who sold you the gun and trained you in using it was so nice. On the other hand, your ex husband’s defense attorney seemed so sleazy! When he made that comment about 50 Shades of Grey, ew! So sorry you had to deal with him and also for everything you’ve been through.

      05/23/2013 at 1:04 am

Crystal: Don’t be too critical! They have what … like 42 minutes to tell all you went through? It was very clear your boys (who are beautiful!) were your primary concern. And the gun was immediately purchased following an attack and still within 10 day hold when he raped you. Plus, I thought the addition of the gunshop guy who obviously believed you were in peril and assisted in getting you toughened to shoot, was good. I thought it was great! And you came off like a beautiful smart tough woman who was not going to let anything take her or her boys down.

    • Chrissie A
      05/23/2013 at 4:45 am

Crystal – They did a great job honey, even without the 911 calls the message came across as to the severity of your situation. As far as the defense coverage was concerned, the mere mention of a FICTIONAL book used in comparison with your situation was ridiculous. You came across as a loving, sensitive lady, but also showed your strength abounds when it necessitates. I am so pleased this has not hardened you and you are still open to loving another when you feel the time is right. I am so proud of you ~hugs~

      05/23/2013 at 9:50 am

Crystal, I was shocked by that juror’s reasoning…just dumbfounded that anyone would think that way. Thank goodness you taped the one incident or they might have assumed they had to be there to witness the rape in order to convict. fwiw, all of this is very familiar to me, but from the child’s POV and it went on for years. My father had the backing of the military and as an officer with family living abroad, we were stuck. It took being found naked in a car with his secretary, along with a few other gems, to get a court martial and dishonorable discharge. He blamed my mom for it. You can only imagine….

In watching you tell your story, I had a new appreciation for the fact that my mom was able to finally extract herself (and all six of us children) from him, but boy was it a nasty extraction. I understand now why they say that’s when the violence escalates.

My heart goes out to you and your boys.

This is the final day before a long weekend so we all need to support each other as we hope that the jury comes back soon with the right verdict today for the Alexander family!!! It’s now 10:15 your time so please show your face 😀

I certainly thought that sandboxers had more respect for each other than that anyone would get up and leave with a pout, without an explanation or a confrontation. There was a “commentator” that said something? That was me. Partly as a joke, and partly as a twit, I “defended” our beloved song. A song on You -Tube. A song that I have to defend in my
home and in front of friends. I expect to “defend it” around others outside “our” University.

I didnt complain about someone’s integrity or character or information or opinion on the case or place of birth or race or creed. I said “hey you dont like our song take a hike!” A song. I expected a witty comeback. I got a denial instead. Ok. I “apologized” for the “harm” of suggesting that someone didn’t like our song. I had(apparently) mixed up comments about the song and the phrase from the ChistianNewsom case.

The “other commentator” could have come back with a cordial comment or a joke about it. Instead a hissy fit ensued. Seems terribly childish. I can take any confrontation from anyone; I am capable of defending myself. If someone cant accept an “apology” for a misfired joke, well, then, that’s their problem, not mine.

    05/23/2013 at 12:56 am

Crystal — I will have to watch your Dateline episode online, but based on your other show, which I did see, I’m sure it will be good. Before the law changed, did you have to pay spousal support even while your husband was incarcerated? If so, what happened to that money? Also, once the law passed, were you retroactively exempted from paying spousal support, or did it go forward only?

    • Crystal Harris
      05/23/2013 at 2:11 am

I was ordered to pay spousal support while he was out on bail facing the 3 felony charges. The judge in family court made a finding in his own court based on preponderance of the evidence that ex was guilty of all 3 charges, but said that’s just 1 factor. Bigger factor was that I made more $$. So I paid until he went to prison. Only reason I stopped paying is cuz he had no need for $$ in prison. If I hadn’t changed the law, he could have received support again when he was released based on need. I was also ordered to pay $47,000 of ex’s legal fees after his conviction. I currently pay $300/mo on that order. I have filed a motion to stop paying on that order now that the law has changed, but not sure it will be granted retroactive. And just yesterday I was served with a new motion for $65,000 in more atty fees for my ex. I’m sure it won’t be awarded based on my new law, but I feel harassed. WTH?

      • Schaeffer
        05/23/2013 at 3:04 am

Are the additional legal fees relative to the divorce, the three charges against him, custody and visitation, or what? Can he just continue to rack up attorney fees and you have to pay a percentage? That is absurd! It sounds as if he is accumulating debt just so you have to pay! How do criminals without financially sound exes pay their legal fees? It would seem once the divorce is granted, your financial responsibility for any additional debt he accrues is nil. When he is released, can he seek child support even if he is not the custodial parent?

      • Lisa M
        05/23/2013 at 6:00 am

Wow, that is harassment. It’s outrageous. Thank God you got that law changed. That must have made you feel so empowered after everything you’ve been through. You really are a great example to other women. I commend you!!

Nienna, MMD, and Chrissie — thanks to each of you for researching the makeup info. I’m glad Sheriff Arpaio cleared up the issue of who provided it. I just knew it didn’t sound right, primarily because it would set a very bad precedent! However, what I don’t understand is, why is no one able to tell this woman NO!!?? As Nancy Grace said, the First Amendment does not guarantee access to makeup.

I agree she is in for a rude awakening once she is transferred to prison, but she’s going to push back on everything until she gets it through her thick head she is not top dog. Sad to say, but being convicted of “just one” murder is going to put her waaaaay down on the list of who’s in charge. Also, she thinks she is so irresistible, I fully expect her to be one of those prisoners who are constantly claiming sexual harassment by the guards — just like Susan Smith or Amy Fisher. It won’t matter how she’s housed, she’ll still be hollering about it.

      05/23/2013 at 10:25 am

I read your comment about “why is no one able to tell this woman NO” and it echoes my sentiments exactly. HLN commented yesterday that one of the deputies who is responsible for escorting and watching her said that JA is a “diva.” Well, why in the hell is it being allowed? Let her make all the demands and set conditions that she wants, doesn’t mean they have to be met! Same with the news outlets interviewing her – tell her no, that the conditions will be set by you, and if she doesn’t like it, DON’T DO THE INTERVIEW!! Why are you so freaking interested in what she has to say? Everything out of her mouth is a self-serving lie. As for her First Amendment right to free speech, what about the Alexanders’ right not to be continually confronted with her vitriolic comments against them and Travis?

      • Lisa M
        05/23/2013 at 12:10 pm

Hear hear, Kathy! My sentiments exactly! It’s all about the almighty dollar. Hell, I’m sure if she didn’t hate them, HLN would be right there scrambling for an interview. It probably secretly thrills Jodi that she can stick it to Nancy Grace by not giving an interview to HLN. And I bet that’s why her mother won’t talk to any of their reporters even though Jean Casarez acts like she’s gotten up close and personal with her.

  113. 05/23/2013 at 4:37 am

The organization Jodi Arias claims she is working with to donate money to, vehemently denied any agreements with her nor do they want any part of it. I have a stupid question…is there any way this information can be revealed to Juan or Judge Stephens or anyone else or is this one of those things that doesn’t matter if she lied because she wasn’t under oath?

Second, did anyone see/hear what she told an interviewer about her mitigation speech? How she picked several topics she “claims” she was interested in helping with while in prison, so she picked things she thought each juror may relate to and feel strongly about therefore, won’t give her the DP. Again, pretty much admitting to us she manipulated the jury now! Basically, she can give 2 shits about a book club or recycling, locks for love or teaching spanish. She only said those things to conive the jury into giving he life, not death. I bet on her hubba bubba beef curtains her note taking was observations about the jury. What they may be into or impressed with..…the women may be impressed with locks of love. A spanish person may like her attitude about helping teach spanish. Wasn’t there a juror who had trouble hearing? Hence, the sign language teachings. Wasn’t there a hippie type guy? Maybe she thought he would be the type into recycling. Perhaps, one of the women did have a DV situation at one time and has symparhy for her…and she probably thought ALL the jurors would be impressed with her donating 100% pf the proceeds with her Versace looking t-shirts (for you Syn 🙂

***side note: My above examples of people being into certain things is looking at it from Wobo’s mind. I am not stereotyping anyone at all so please no anger at me. I love everyone equally except HBBC***

Someone on here mentioned never seeing Jodi’s hair short the last several years so how did she donate to Locks 3 times? I agree with you. Also, someone on one of the news that aired Stabula’s interviews said the jail does not have anyone come specifically for Locks nor do they participate in anyway. They said the only way she could have donated it was by having it cut in jail by whoever does the cutting and she would have to package and mail herself. The woman speaking said she didn’t know if the jail would have allowed it (lol but we will supply makeup free of charge)! I wish there was a way to confirm if she did it or not. I personally think it’s another LIE!

    Sorry for another long post.

    • Lisa M
      05/23/2013 at 6:09 am

OMG Bailey. That’s right! I forgot about the juror with the hearing aid. I was wondering about the sign language. Also I was thinking, when u said she would teach Spanish and sign language, is she even qualified to teach these languages? Is she fluent in Spanish? Does she have someone deaf in her family? Maybe she does. I just don’t know about it. I mean I’ve taken sign language classes and studied Spanish in college by I wouldn’t think of myself as being a great teacher of those subjects. I’m sure she won’t be the only prisoner in AZ who can speak Spanish so that one might have backfired on her. In face they both might have if the jurors felt she was targeting them. That could seem very insulting to a savvy juror and as we’ve already seen, these jurors aren’t idiots.

    • Kathy A.
      05/23/2013 at 10:28 am

The juror with the hearing issues was selected as one of the alternates. So even though he’s got to be there and be ready to step in if something happens, he’s not one of those who is deliberating right now. But again, she’s targeting sympathies in each juror rather than speaking from the heart, from a place of authentic feeling because it doesn’t exist in her.

Here is my comment – or question, really. Judge Stephens has definitely bent over backward to ensure JA receives a fair trial. However, I am concerned about Judge Stephens lifting the ban on interviews JA is giving the media. If (oh, I am praying not) the jury cannot come to a unanimous decision and another jury has to be established, how on earth can in IMPARTIAL jury be found after all of these interviews? This woman is a CONVICTED MURDERER! How on earth can she be allowed to give these interviews when the entire trial has not concluded?

    • Lisa M
      05/23/2013 at 12:20 pm

Good point, Jennifer! And you know her defense will say that too. Even though their own client is responsible, they’ll claim the jury pool has been tainted.

Bailey, I am the one who said there is no way she has donated a minimum of 30″ of hair in less than 5 years. To donate to Locks of Love, the hair has to be put into a pony or a braid, and then cut off ABOVE the band; it’s not like you just cut off some hair and send it in. She said her hair was “past her waist” when she was arrested, but I don’t think it was. I cannot bring myself to look at her photos again, but those braids didn’t look nearly that long as I remember.

She did say she signed (ASL) but she never mentioned that before that I heard, nor does she have the mannerisms of someone who signs. I do sign, and it is second nature to sign while talking, even if the party to whom I am speaking does not sign, or can’t even see me; without thinking, I sign when I’m on the phone or playing Pictionary! There is a man on the jury who uses a listening device, but that does not mean he signs.

I do think she tailored her soliloquy to what she perceived the individual jurors’ interests might be. That makes as much sense as anything, because what she said made absolutely NO sense under the circumstances. I’m not going to go through the rest of her talking points, because I did post a long commentary yesterday. If you want to go back and look, I think you will find we agree on the whole charade.

    • Lisa M
      05/23/2013 at 6:49 am

Well, considering the awkward way she pointed towards her family in the gallery during her elocution, she is not a signer! And I agree, the man with a hearing device may or may not sign. So that was a bust!

    • ringadingding
      05/23/2013 at 10:01 am

More bullshittery. Facial expressions are a big part of signing. Smirks don’t count.

      • Lisa M
        05/23/2013 at 12:22 pm

True! She would be a terrible signer, because she has no facial expressions other than smirks and eye rolls!

Good Morning Schaeffer! Good to (see) you! I posted (previous page) the requirements for “Locks of Love” donations, and you are so right!!!!

JA’s “tailor made” allocution was ridiculous! You just said it all! Thank you!

Wow, that is harassment. It’s outrageous. Thank God you got that law changed. That must have made you feel so empowered after everything you’ve been through. You really are a great example to other women. I commend you!!

I just want to clarify. You are a great example to anybody who has been victimized by domestic violence, not just “other women.” If I’ve learned anything from this case, it should be that domestic violence victims and survivors come in all genders, shapes, sizes and forms. Every shape size and form other than Jodi Arias, that is!

You are absolutely right Lisa and it is so true. I need to clarify my own comment downstairs.

  119. Kathy A.
    05/23/2013 at 6:32 am

I am hoping upon hope that the jurors just wanted clarification on how to fill out the form IF they couldn’t reach an agreement on life or death, not that they were saying after only two hours of deliberation that’s where they were at. Maybe wishful thinking on my part; would rather see them come back with LWOP than hang up and make the family and the taxpayers go through this all over again. JA lives in a reality of her own making, and I’m pretty sure her idea of what life in prison will be like and what it actually will be like are two different things. She makes it sound like a nurturing environment with a Peace-Corps-like quality to it where she can rush in and improve the lives of her fellow inmates and promote environmental causes. Just wish the jury could see her Whore-a-palooza Media Tour 2013 (coming to a town near you!) so they could see exactly how repentant and redeeming she is.

    • Dewey
      05/23/2013 at 6:38 am

Im confused about this. They were clearly reporting everywhere that the jury could not reach a decision yesterday. Was this verified by the court? Who said they were deadlocked and had to be sent back in?

      • Chrissie A
        05/23/2013 at 8:14 am

Hi Dewey – Various media outlets, to me, it was more of a clarification they wanted – I posted more about it upstairs 🙂

  120. Lisa M
    05/23/2013 at 6:42 am

So I’m not watching any of JA’s interviews online. I’m boycotting them. However, I did see some snippets on Dr. Drew, and one in particular was extremely disturbing to me!
[And can I just say, Dr. Drew IMO is the only HLN primetime show worth watching other than the few snippets of Nancy Grace, (when she has one of Travis’ on). And speaking of that, isn’t it extremely revealing when you compare the number of Travis’ friends with Jodi’s? Hmm, just saying.]
Anyway, the interview that really disturbed me was the one where the male interviewer actually challenged her and said something like “What really happened in that bathroom?” and she said with a completely straight face, mind you (gotta be hard to do), that what she said happened happened. And then she said– or maybe right before she said that, she said, “I didn’t know there were any haters up in here” (lol) or “I didn’t know you were a hater” and this little kernel of anger/evil flared up and I KNOW that was the Jodi who killed Travis. That was who he saw coming at him with the butcher knife. THAT is who she really is. A cold, hateful, angry, evil person. A wolf in sheep’s clothing. (To extend the clothing metaphor I used earlier — actually the emperor without any clothes analogy– lol– Love those trite metaphors!
Anyway, it chilled me when I saw that, and that is why I think Juan didn’t object to these interviews, because just right there she showed her true colors. And think of all the lies he’s going to have to work with. I mean, imagine if for some bizarre reason, there was an appeal that overturned the conviction in this case. Say, a juror was tainted or something. Juan is going to have all this new material to present to a jury!! Look at what he did with her 48 Hours and Inside Edition interviews from four or five years ago. He will have all these new lies as ammunition.
Five years have passed, and these interviews are a mirror image of those interviews she gave. The same “I’m ready for my closeup!” makeup, the same attitude, the same lying (different lies now, but still lies) But there’s one thing different. She is actually more of a diva now than then, if that’s possible. I really think she was one stupid decision away from standing up and calling the above-mentioned interview off, as if she were J-Lo or someone (no offense to J-Lo). That defiant attitude was on display for all. So there’s a method to Juan’s seeming madness here. Oh, and if God forbid there were ever a parole hearing for the evil one, the interviews could be used for that too. They show her for the remorseless psychopath she really is. Her lawyers must have flipped over them, and I’m sure that’s one reason why they tried to get off her case.

      05/23/2013 at 10:15 am

Lisa I watched Dr. Drew last night as well and I agree, he is the only one, except for Beth Karas that is even credible. I am boycotting the interviews as well but did see what he showed. Doncha know that is exactly the JA that TA saw coming.

I loved that Dr. Drew needed his behavour bureau to help him because of the hatred and anger he feels about JA. I also loved when after the VIS both he and Mark Eiglarsh both offered their help to Steven Alexander especially but the entire Alexander family as well. Ya know that their entire team genuinely cares and it’s not as much about ratings as the other shows.

Morning all ******waves******* Not caught up upstairs but I have to say how incredibly proud of Crystal Harris I am. I watched Dateline and I can understand the skepticism of some people because I also suffered through marital rape and even my own mother didn’t get it. No one did but it was a long time ago and this isn’t about me.

What Crystal went through no one should ever have to suffer. What she has done as a result of it will change the lives of sooooooooooooooo many women in such a positive way from now on. She showed true courage and perseverance so she was able to change her life and the lives of her precious sons. I am so proud of you darlin’.

Crystal I am so honoured to say that I have met you here and I am in awe of what you have accomplished. You probably have no idea the ramifications of what you have truly accomplished for generations to come and kudos for talking about a subject that so few are willing to talk about!!!!

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE that even with her “rules” – the media sees her for what she is – and shows us that they (the media) can “lie”, too – and she doesn’t get to keep the shackles and primping a secret. HA! She thinks she can control everybody and everything. I have seen several other media interviews that begin with telling the viewers her “rules” which then just makes her seen as even more manipulative. – can you say – backfire – ????

Good morning to all the wonderful people who have come together on this site to rant, console, share and just be there for each other. I have been lurking in the background since January but rarely comment (mainly because I am a horrible typist and it takes me forever to fix all my errors – case in point – it will probably be afternoon before I finally get this comment typed correctly and posted !!!). I am posting today because I just wanted to let all of you know how much coming to this site has helped me to work through my anger and outrage over this horrible “mistake” that WOBO made. Yesterday I had to turn off the tv and tell myself I am done with this because it was causing me too much stress but today I woke up feeling so ashamed of myself for my “pity party”. When all this is over I get to go on with my life and eventually will find another cause that will consume me but the Alexander’s will never be able to do that and my heart breaks for them. No matter what the verdict is this will go on and on for them and since WOBO has no conscience and lives in a world of her own she find a way to torment them. But I am a true believer in karma and of heaven and hell and I know that one day she will face the final Judge and it ain’t gonna be pretty !!!! Once she is in prison I want to send her monthly coupons from Starbucks and Cinnabon – just to remind her of what she can never have again. Again, thanks to all of you. Crystal – I watched the show last night, you are truly an inspiration. Donchais – thank you for providing this wonderful place. Wow, I did it and it is still morning here !!!!

    05/23/2013 at 10:24 am

Good morning all! I just finished reading and reading and reading! You’ve been so busy!

I am starting off today in a positive mood. I understand from news reports that the jury was 45 minutes into deliberations when whatever the question was, was sent to the judge.

That makes about two hours of deliberation! My feeling is that this jury, which convicted her of 1st degree, premeditated murder and found the crime was especially cruel, would not deadlock after that small amount of time.

I deeply believe that they were going through the jury instructions all that time, to make sure they understood well what they were supposed to do. Then, Judge Stevens called them back to read the overlooked instruction which explained the life/death situation. With that, they went back and continued going through the instructions. Prior to getting to the actual verdict form, they read the new instruction and were confused and asked what to do IF they couldn’t agree on a verdict.

That being said, even though Juan mentioned the possibility of release after 25 (really 20) years, it may have been missed due to Willmott’s constant interruptions.

Now, there are probably some on the jury who would prefer LWOP to death, and I can understand that. However, I believe that not ONE of those jurors want the evil one to ever be free again.

I am betting my bottom dollar that those who are for the DP now have an excellent discussion point. If the sentence her to life, they have no control over whether or not she does natural life.

Donchais will tell you I am pretty much anti-DP. However, in this ambiguous situation, I’d vote for the DP, because I wouldn’t want the serpent to be out and about EVER!

    Thanks for reading my rant…

    • ringadingding
      05/23/2013 at 10:30 am

Thank you for this, Ritanita. The judge is responsible for the way this has been (mis)interpreted because of the way she relayed the question, which was less about conveying where they stood as a jury and more about getting clarification on instructions.

      • ringadingding
        05/23/2013 at 10:44 am

What I mean is…it wasn’t clear by the way she read the question that they only wanted clarification. The way she read it (without the leading IF) made it sound as though they were reporting on their status. From the note that’s been shared, they only wanted to know which form to use in the even they can’t reach a unanimous decision. This was not at all clear when she addressed them.

      05/23/2013 at 10:52 am

PHOENIX — Convicted murderer Jodi Arias has big plans for life in prison.
    A
Arias shared them with the jury on Tuesday.

“In prison there are programs I can start and people that I can help and programs that I can participate in,” Arias told jurors.

According to Barrett Marson, who once worked for the Arizona Department of Corrections (DOC), Arias doesn’t have a clue what she’s talking about.

“It’s not like here at Sheriff Joe’s jail. She will not be mixing with the inmates very much,” said Marson.

During most of Arias’ four years in the Maricopa County Jail she was housed with 32 other inmates and allowed to mingle with them for several hours a day.

Just recently she was moved to a maximum security cell in the jail and can no longer talk to other inmates.

Arias also told the jury she wants to teach other prison inmates how to read.

“I would like to start a book club or reading group,” Arias said. She then went on to say, “If I get permission I would like to implement a recycling program.”

Marson told 3TV the Perryville Women’s Prison, where Arias is heading to already, have both a recycling program and several book clubs
Marson said Arias won’t get out her cell much because she will be a maximum security inmate or a death row inmate.
    Q
If sentenced to life in prison it would be several years before she can talk to other inmates and that’s if she’s proved to be a model inmate.

Andrew Wilder with the AZ DOC sent us this statement when we asked about Arias’ proposed prison programs.

“There are so many variables that prevent a simple explanation. But it’s perhaps best to understand that, either way, an inmate would begin their sentence at a maximum-custody level — which is a highly-restricted experience. For example, meals are served in the cell, as are phone calls, visitation is non-contact, recreation time and their ability to interact with other inmates is highly limited.

Only after a period of several years, along with a clean record of demonstrated model behavior, mental health, security, and other considerations, could an inmate even potentially work their way to a level of lower custody that would result in fewer restrictions (group recreation, shared cell, in-complex work opportunities, etc). Again, such possibilities would only come at a time far down the road,” said Wilder.

Hi Dewey – Various media outlets, to me, it was more of a clarification they wanted – I posted more about it upstairs

I believe the judge interpreted it that way as well – she said she received the note that they could not reach a decision, and I thought they just wanted clarification on how to fill out the form if they couldn’t come to a unanimous decision.

That was a huge mistake by the judge if the jury was merely asking “if”….

I am really really far behind in reqding so I need to ask… Did I see that the judge might have misunderstood the jury’s question? That they might have merely wanted clarification on instructions? No5 that they were deadlocked? Ugh. If that’s true his judge has lost it.

    Crystal Harris :
Donchais…my home has been here lately…SO over FB these days.
Chief on a Ship: Thank you! My mindset was all about survival, not just today tomorrow or next week, but months from now. Police are not personal body guards. And when seconds count the police are only minutes away. My husband CALMLY promised to kill me many
times. But that 10 day waiting period ended up being an eternity. I feel sorry for women who “follow the rules” and end up dead.

I lost a childhood friend to domestic violence. Her ex-husband stabbed her to death, leaving her 8 year old son without a mother and with a father in jail. Women do end up dead. You have a very strong survival instinct, and whatever others say on any stupid online site, you’re still alive for your boys. And that’s all that matters!!

I’m so sorry as well Lisa. I was thinking this past weekend about how tired I am of people hurting other people. It’s bad enough with all the natural disasters like Oklahoma but there is so much violence these days. It really makes you just want to hide away from all the insanity.

      • Jill
        05/23/2013 at 11:49 am

Yes MMD! I agree! I am so scared for my daughter. This world is so unsafe! From mall shootings, theater shootings, school shootings, etc. I am so scared of crazy people. A few yrs back a crazy guy went in our local grocery store and went on a shooting rampage.
I think just like you in that there are so many natural disasters and accidents that kill people that we don’t need any more senseless violence which seems to have become the norm in our society.
Sometimes, I fantasize just locking up my family and staying barricaded in my house. Then, I’d probably have a house fire or carbon monoxide leak. You can’t win.

I’ve never been to Canada but we will be visiting soon. My dear mom just finished a long battle with cancer and we hope it is in remission. Her goal was to take us all on an Alaskan cruise when she got thru with her chemo. well, thank g-d she made it! We will begin in Canada and stay there one week. My mom said we will visit the islands, so I’m assuming it will be the Maritimes. I am very anxious. Your home is a place of amazing beauty. I always dreamed of living in such a place! Any recommendations for us tourists would b appreciated. I would love if donchais could give my email to you or vice versa.
I always wonder how it would change my life to live like you and be surrounded with beauty and life reminiscent of more innocent times.

She will get her’s Jill. Have some faith. As for Travis’s last moments, all we can do is see that justice is served, support their family and keep his legacy alive. He has really transcended this case because his legacy will live on and so many lives will be saved because of what people have learned about people like JA.

Plus Travis was a person of strong faith so I’m sure that he is with his beloved grandmother and parents. True, his life was cut short so tragically, but he lived his life to the fullest and made it count.

Anyway, this is what I have to keep telling myself to even maintain some sense of sanity.

Travis Alexander, in his own words, wanted to change the world and he has. People across the planet have come together in support of justice and his grieving family. A family who has endured more in the last five years than most of us can imagine.

Yes, Arias took his life. But she couldn’t take his bright shining spirit that lives on inside everyone who knew him.

Praying the jury will be graced with strength and courage and mental clarity to do the right thing by Travis Alexander. Praying that Heaven will guide them in reaching a unanimous decision. Praying the family of Travis Alexander will receive the peace they deserve. Praying that Justice will be served in this Arizona court of law.

I thought the jury’s decision was supposed to be fairly mechanical: do the mitigating circumstances outweigh the aggravating factors? They found plenty of aggravation: spends the day seducing him then ambushes him in the shower. Stabbing over and over as he tries to get away. Nearly cuts off his head! Then shoots him after all of that. Mitigating circumstances: she donated hair to locks of love? Can’t understand what the problem is…
